| 8 | Finding an Effective Distance Between T-Cell and B-Cell Using S/W ARQ in an Immune System Communication显示文摘In this paper,we present the effective distance between T-cell and B-cell in an immune system using Stop and Wait(S/W)Automatic Repeat Request(ARQ).The concentration of the molecules can be increased by increasing the transmitting number of molecules but it may reduce the performance of communication due to higher collision or interference with other molecules.It is also reported in the literature that the concentration of the emitted molecules reduces if the distance from Transmitter(Tx)to Receiver(Rx)increases.Thus,this paper mainly focuses on enhancing the receiver’s capture probability and higher successful complete transmission of the desired molecules by obtaining the effective distance from T-cell to B-cell.In order to find the effective distance,T-cell transmits the molecules 1(Interleukins-2)to B-cell,upon successful reception of molecules 1,antibodies(molecules 2)transmit back to T-cell.Then,the effective distance of an immune system can be obtained after T-cell detects the concentration of the molecules 2 with respect to time.Different schemes of S/W ARQ protocols have implemented in Molecular Communication(MC)but it requires retransmission of duplicate copies due to the lack of addressing an effective distance.Thus,the simulations are performed in MATLAB and the results obtain higher capture probability and also successful complete transmission of the desired molecules. | Sanjit Ningthoujam Tekcham Chingkheinganba Swarnendu K Chakraborty | 2020 | China Communications2020,17,1: | 0 |
| 9 | A detailed mechanism of degradation behaviour of biodegradable as-ECAPed Zn-0.8Mg-0.2Sr with emphasis on localized corrosion attack显示文摘In this study, advanced techniques such as atom probe tomography, atomic force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used to determine the corrosion mechanism of the as-ECAPed Zn-0.8Mg-0.2Sr alloy. The influence of microstructural and surface features on the corrosion mechanism was investigated. Despite its significance, the surface composition before exposure is often neglected by the scientific community. The analyses revealed the formation of thin ZnO, MgO, and MgCO3 layers on the surface of the material before exposure. These layers participated in the formation of corrosion products, leading to the predominant occurrence of hydrozincite. In addition, the layers possessed different resistance to the environment, resulting in localized corrosion attacks. The segregation of Mg on the Zn grain boundaries with lower potential compared with the Zn-matrix was revealed by atom probe tomography and atomic force microscopy. The degradation process was initiated by the activity of micro-galvanic cells, specifically Zn - Mg2Zn11/SrZn13. This process led to the activity of the crevice corrosion mechanism and subsequent attack to a depth of 250 μm. The corrosion rate of the alloy determined by the weight loss method was 0.36 mm⋅a 1. | 10 | Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors from plants: A review of their diversity, modes of action, prospects, and concerns in the management of diabetes-centric complications显示文摘Angiotensin-converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitors are antihypertensive medications often used in the treatment of diabetes-related complications.Synthetic ACE inhibitors are known to cause serious side effects like hypotension,renal insufficiency,and hyperkalaemia.Therefore,there has been an intensifying search for natural ACE inhibitors.Many plants or plant-based extracts are known to possess ACEinhibitory activity.In this review,articles focusing on the natural ACE inhibitors extracted from plants were retrieved from databases like Google Scholar,Pub Med,Scopus,and Web of Science.We have found more than 50 plant species with ACE-inhibitory activity.Among them,Angelica keiskei,Momordica charantia,Muntingia calabura,Prunus domestica,and Peperomia pellucida were the most potent,showing comparatively lower half-maximal inhibitory concentration values.Among the bioactive metabolites,peptides(e.g.,Tyr-Glu-Pro,Met-Arg-Trp,and Gln-Phe-Tyr-Ala-Val),phenolics(e.g.,cyanidin-3-Osambubioside and delphinidin-3-O-sambubioside),flavonoids([-]-epicatechin,astilbin,and eupatorin),terpenoids(ursolic acid and oleanolic acid)and alkaloids(berberine and harmaline)isolated from several plant and fungus species were found to possess significant ACE-inhibitory activity.These were also known to possess promising antioxidant,antidiabetic,antihyperlipidemic and anti-inflammatory activities.Considering the minimal side effects and lower toxicity of herbal compounds,development of antihypertensive drugs from these plant extracts or phytocompounds for the treatment of diabetesassociated complications is an important endeavour.This review,therefore,focuses on the ACE inhibitors extracted from different plant sources,their possible mechanisms of action,present status,and any safety concerns. | Rakhi Chakraborty Swarnendu Roy | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,6: | 0 |
| 11 | Assessment of traditional knowledge of the antidiabetic plants of Darjeeling and Sikkim Himalayas in the context of recent phytochemical and pharmacological advances显示文摘Darjeeling and Sikkim Himalayas, a part of Eastern Himalayan Hotspot, is characterized by its richness of plant diversity. Herbal medicine has been one of the most popular and reliable healing practices among the different ethnic groups of this region for ages. However, the lack of documentation practice by the traditional healers has led to obscurity regarding the efficacy of herbal medicine among the present generation, though they have to depend on the same quite often. Meanwhile, several reviews have attempted to document the plants used for the treatment of diabetes from this region, but interestingly, very few research works can be obtained regarding the characterization of antidiabetic properties of the plants of this region. Therefore, it demands a better understanding of the potentiality of these plants in the purview of scientific evidence.
