1Review of hybrid electric powered aircraft,its conceptual design and energy management methodologies显示文摘The paper overviews the state-of-art of aircraft powered by hybrid electric propulsion systems.The research status of the design and energy management of hybrid aircraft and hybrid propulsion systems are further reviewed.The first contribution of the review is to demonstrate that,in the context of relatively underdeveloped electrical storage technologies,the study of mid-scale hybrid aircraft can contribute the most to both theoretical and practical knowledge.Meanwhile,the profits and potential drawbacks of applying hybrid propulsion to mid-scale hybrid airplanes have not been thoroughly illustrated.Secondly,as summed in the overview of design methodologies,the multi-objective optimization transcends the single-objective one.The potential of the hybrid propulsion system can be thoroughly evaluated in only one optimization run,if several objectives optimized simultaneously.Yet there are few researches covering the conceptual design of hybrid aircraft using multi-objective optimization.The review of the most popular energy management strategies discloses the third research gap—current methodologies favoured in hybrid ground vehicles do not consider the aircraft safety.Additionally,both non-causal and causal energy management are needed for performing a complicated flight mission with several sub-tasks.Ye XIE Al SAVVARISAL Antonios TSOURDOS Dan ZHANG Jason GU 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,4:5
2Multifunctional metaoptics based on bilayer metasurfaces显示文摘Optical metasurfaces have become versatile platforms for manipulating the phase,amplitude,and polarization of light.A platform for achieving independent control over each of these properties,however,remains elusive due to the limited engineering space available when using a single-layer metasurface.For instance,multiwavelength metasurfaces suffer from performance limitations due to space filling constraints,while control over phase and amplitude can be achieved,but only for a single polarization.Here,we explore bilayer dielectric metasurfaces to expand the design space for metaoptics.The ability to independently control the geometry and function of each layer enables the development of multifunctional metaoptics in which two or more optical properties are independently designed.As a proof of concept,we demonstrate multiwavelength holograms,multiwavelength waveplates,and polarization-insensitive 3D holograms based on phase and amplitude masks.The proposed architecture opens a new avenue for designing complex flat optics with a wide variety of functionalities.You Zhou Ivan I.Kravchenko Hao Wang Hanyu Zheng Gong Gu Jason Valentine 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:4
3Longitudinal Alterations of Local Spontaneous Brain Activity in Parkinson's Disease显示文摘We used resting-state fMRI to evaluate longitudinal alterations in local spontaneous brain activity in Parkinson's disease(PD) over a 2-year period. Data were acquired from 23 PD patients at baseline and follow-up,and 27 age-and sex-matched normal controls. Regional homogeneity(ReHo) and voxel-based-morphometry(VBM) were used to identify differences in local spontaneous brain activity and grey matter volume. With disease progression, we observed a progressive decrease in ReHo in the sensorimotor cortex, default-mode network, and left cerebellum, but increased ReHo in the supplementary motor area, bilateral temporal gyrus, and hippocampus.Moreover, there was a significant positive correlation between the rates of ReHo change in the left cerebellum and the rates of change in the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale-III scores. VBM revealed no significant differences in the grey matter volume among the three sets of acquisitions. 6Economical Optimization of Grid Power Factor Using Predictive Data显示文摘We present an electrical grid optimization method for economical benefit. After simplifying an IEEE feeder diagram, we build a compact smart grid system including a photovoltaic-inverter system, a shunt capacitor, an on-load tapchanger(OLTC) and transmission lines. The system power factor(PF) regulation and reactive power dispatching are indispensable to improve power quality. Our control method uses predictive weather and load data to decide engaging or tripping the shunt capacitor, or reactive power injection by the photovoltaic-inverter system, ultimately to keep the system PF in a good range. From the perspective of economics, the economical model is considered as a decision maker in our predictive data control method.Capacitor-only control strategy is a common photovoltaic(PV)regulation method, which is treated as a baseline case. Simulations with GridLAB-D on profiled loads and residential loads have been carried out. 11Regulations in the United States for cell transplantation clinical trials in neurological diseases显示文摘Objective: This study aimed to use a systematic approach to evaluate the current utilization, safety, and effectiveness of cell therapies for neurological diseases in human. And review the present regulations, considering United States(US) as a representative country, for cell transplantation in neurological disease and discuss the challenges facing the field of neurology in the coming decades. Methods: A detailed search was performed in systematic literature reviews of cellular‐based therapies in neurological diseases, using Pub Med, web of science, and clinical trials. Regulations of cell therapy products used for clinical trials were searched from the Food and Drug Administration(FDA) and the National Institutes of Health(NIH).Results: Seven most common types of cell therapies for neurological diseases have been reported to be relatively safe with varying degrees of neurological recovery.And a series of regulations in US for cellular therapy was summarized including preclinical evaluations, sourcing material, stem cell manufacturing and characterization,cell therapy product, and clinical trials. Conclusions: Stem cell‐based therapy holds great promise for a cure of such diseases and will value a growing population of patients. However, regulatory permitting activity of the US in the sphere of stem cells, technologies of regenerative medicine and substitutive cell therapy are selective, theoretical and does not fit the existing norm and rules. 18Vegetation-related dry deposition of global PM_(2.5) from satellite observations显示文摘Vegetation plays an important role in the dry deposition of particles with significant spatial variability,but the magnitude remains unclear at the global scale.With the aid of satellite products,this study estimated the vegetation-related dry deposition of fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)).Methodologically,dry deposition was first calculated using an empirical algorithm.Then,deposition on the leaf surface was estimated to evaluate the influence of vegetation.Our results showed that the mean deposition velocity(V_(d))of global PM_(2.5)was 0.91×10^(-3)μg·m^(-2)·s^(-1),with high velocities observed in sparsely vegetated regions because of the high friction velocity.Under the combined effect of the PM_(2.5)mass concentration and deposition velocity,the global mean dry deposition reached 0.47 g·m-^(2)·yr^(-1).Global vegetation absorbed 0.26 g·m-^(2)·yr^(-1)from PM_(2.5)pollution sources,contributing 54.98%of the total dry deposition.Spatially,vegetation-related dry deposition was high in the Amazon,Central Africa and East China due to dense vegetation coverage or serious pollution.Temporally,the increasing trends were mainly in Central Africa and India because of worsening air pollution.The results of this study helped to clarify the impact of vegetation on air pollution,which supported related land management and planning for air quality improvement.FENG Huihui DING Ying ZOU Bin COHEN Jason Blake YE Shuchao YANG Zhuolin QIN Kai LIU Lei GU Xiaodong 2022Journal of Geographical Sciences2022,32,4:1
19Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND 20Pumping and sliding of droplets steered by a hydrogel pattern for atmospheric water harvesting显示文摘Atmospheric water harvesting is an emerging strategy for decentralized and potable water supplies.However,water nucleation and microdroplet coalescence on condensing surfaces often result in surface flooding owing to the lack of a sufficient directional driving force for shedding.Herein,inspired by the fascinating properties of lizards and catfish,we present a condensing surface with engineered hydrogel patterns that enable rapid and sustainable water harvesting through the directional pumping and drag-reduced sliding of water droplets.The movement of microscale condensed droplets is synergistically driven by the surface energy gradient and difference in Laplace pressure induced by the arch hydrogel patterns.Meanwhile,the superhydrophilic hydrogel surface can strongly bond inner-layer water molecules to form a lubricant film that reduces drag and facilitates the sliding of droplets off the condensing surface.Thus,this strategy is promising for various water purification techniques based on liquid-vapor phase-change processes.Wei Zhang Qinghua Ji Gong Zhang Zhenao Gu Haozhi Wang Chengzhi Hu Huijuan Liu Zhiyong Jason Ren Jiuhui Qu 2023National Science Review2023,10,12:0
