| 3 | Water permeability in MXene membranes: Process matters显示文摘Recent studies have shown impressive transport behaviors of water and ions within lamellar MXene membranes,which endows great promise in developing advanced separation application based high performance MXene membranes.However,most of the researches focused on modification of MXene nanoflakes and optimizing interlayer distance,leaving the impact of membrane fabrication process marginal.In this work,we studied the water flux of membranes made by vacuum filtration using delaminated MXene nanoflakes as the building-blocks.Our results show that the water permeability is extremely sensitive to the process,especially at the drying process,loading and deposit rate of nanoflakes(the feeding concentration).We find that the voids from less ordered stack rather than in-plane defects and interlayer galleries contribute to the large water permeability.The voids can be effectively avoided via deposition of MXene nanoflakes at a slow rate.Manipulating the stack of MXene nanoflakes during vacuum filtration and drying are critical for development of MXene membranes with desired performance for water permeation. | Hang Zhou Yuwei Wang Fuqiang Wang Hao Deng Yongchen Song Changping Li Zheng Ling | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,6: | 3 |
| 4 | SOD1^(G93A) Induces a Unique PSAP-Dependent Mitochondrial Apoptosis Pathway via Bax-Bak Interaction显示文摘Amyotrophic lateral syndrome(ALS)is a progressive degenerative disorder characterized by motor neuron death and axon degeneration.Mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ALS,the mechanism of which remains poorly understood.The B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2)family of proteins that control and mediate mitochondrial function and apoptosis,including the pro-apoptotic members Bcl2-Associated X(Bax),are involved in ALS development.The death receptor 6(DR6)regulates motor neuron death in ALS,and DR6 antibodies can prevent axon degeneration and motor neuron damage by blocking DR6.Previous studies demonstrated that PSAP localized to mitochondria and was required for DR6-induced apoptosis.In this study,SOD1^(G93A) was transfected into the motor neuron cell line NSC-34 to serve as an ALS cell model in vitro.The data assessed the role of PSAP in SOD1^(G93A)induced apoptosis and demonstrated that the overexpression of SOD1^(G93A),but not wtSOD1,induced PARP cleavage,caspase-3 activation,cytochrome c release,and Bax translocation.PSAP,Bax,and Bak were necessary for SOD1^(G93A)induced apoptosis,as silencing PSAP inhibited SOD1^(G93A)-mediated cell death that was dependent on Bax-Bak interaction. | HAN NIU XIN CHEN XUEQI FU JINGTIAN ZHANG GUODONG LI YUXIANG WANG JIAYUE SONG XUETING MA CHEN HU XUEMIN XU FUQIANG ZHANG LINLIN ZENG | 2021 | BIOCELL2021,45,4: | 2 |

| 14 | Characterization of expressed genes in the establishment of arbuscular mycorrhiza between Amorpha fruticosa and Glomus mosseae显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhiza(AM) formed between plant roots and fungi is one of the most widespread symbiotic associations in nature. To understand the molecular mechanisms of AM formation, we profiled 30 symbiosis-related genes expressed in Amorpha fruticosa roots colonized by Glomus mosseae and in non-mycorrhizal roots at different stages using differential-display RT-PCR(DDRT-PCR). The expressed genes were confirmed by reverse Northern blotting. Eleven fragments were sequenced and putatively identified by homologous alignment. Of the eleven AM-related genes, five were obtained at the early-stage of plant-fungus interaction and six at the later stage. Three expressed sequence tag(ESTs) sequences were found to originate from the fungi and eight from the host plant by use of PCR evaluation of gDNA of both plant and fungi. The target genes included an ATP-binding cassette sub-family transporter gene, a transposon-insertion display band, and a photosynthesis-related gene. | 16 | Transcriptome analysis of the symbiosis-related genes between Funneliformis mosseae and Amorpha fruticosa显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF) can colonize and form associations with the roots of Amorpha fruticosa L.(desert false indigo). Various genes are induced during the symbiotic process. In this study, de novo transcriptome sequencing using RNA-seq was conducted for the first time for a comprehensive analysis of AMF-A. fruticosa symbionts at the transcript level. We obtained 12 G of raw data from illumina sequencing and recovered 115,786 unigenes with an average length of547 bp, among them 41,848 of significance. A total of2460 diffexpression genes were identified, including 1579 down-regulated and 881 up-regulated genes. A threshold for false discovery rate of \ 0.001 and fold change of [ 1 determined significant differences in gene expression.Using these criteria, we screened 285 significant differentially expressed genes, of which 82 were up-regulated and203 down-regulated. The 82 up-regulated genes were classified according to their functions and assigned into seven categories: stress and defense, metabolism, signaling transduction, protein folding and degradation, energy,protein synthesis, and transcription. The 203 down-regulated genes were screened according to fold change [ 2,and 50 highly significant down-regulated genes were obtained related to stress and defense. | 18 | A direct spino-cortical circuit bypassing the thalamus modulates nociception显示文摘Nociceptive signals are usually transmitted to layer 4 neurons in somatosensory cortex via the spinothalamic-thalamocortical pathway.The layer 5 corticospinal neurons in sensorimotor cortex are reported to receive the output of neurons in superficial layers;and their descending axons innervate the spinal cord to regulate basic sensorimotor functions.Here,we show that a subset of layer 5 neurons receives spinal inputs through a direct spino-cortical circuit bypassing the thalamus,and thus define these neurons as spino-cortical recipient neurons(SCRNs).Morphological studies revealed that the branches from spinal ascending axons formed a kind of disciform structure with the descending axons from SCRNs in the basilar pontine nucleus(BPN).Electron microscopy and calcium imaging further confirmed that the axon terminals from spinal ascending neurons and SCRNs made functional synaptic contacts in the BPN,linking the ascending sensory pathway to the descending motor control pathway.Furthermore,behavioral tests indicated that the spino-cortical connection in the BPN was involved in nociceptive responses.In vivo calcium imaging showed that SCRNs responded to peripheral noxious stimuli faster than neighboring layer 4 cortical neurons in awake mice.Manipulating activities of SCRNs could modulate nociceptive behaviors.Therefore,this direct spino-cortical circuit represents a noncanonical pathway,allowing a fast sensory-motor transition of the brain in response to noxious stimuli. | Bing Cai Dan Wu Hong Xie Yan Chen Huadong Wang Sen Jin Yuran Song Anan Li Shiqi Huang Sashuang Wang Yingjin Lu Lan Bao Fuqiang Xu Hui Gong Changlin Li Xu Zhang | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,10: | 0 |
