1Magnetostratigraphy of the late Cenozoic Laojunmiao anticline in the northern Qilian Mountains and its implications for the northern Tibetan Plateau uplift显示文摘Cenozoic sediments in the foreland basin--Jiuquan Basin in west Hexi Corridor recorded tectonic uplift information of the Qilian Mountains. High resolution paleomagnetic dating of the Laojunmiao (LJM) section across the central LJM anticline in the southern Jiuquan Basin reveals ages of the Getanggou Member, Niugetao Member in the Shulehe Formation, the Yumen Conglomerate, Jiuquan Conglomerate and Gobi Formation at >13-8.3 Ma, 8.3-4.9 Ma, 3.66-0.93 Ma, 0.84-0.14 Ma and 0.14-0 Ma, respectively. Sedimentary evolution study suggests that the Qilian Mountains should begin to rise gradually since ~8-6.6 Ma, accompanied by sedimentary environments changing from lacustrine mudstones-sandstones to alluvial conglomerates. 5Early tectonic uplift of the northern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The Hexi Corridor is the northmost foreland basin of the Tibetan Plateau and its formation is controlled by the northern marginal fault of Tibet, Altyn Tagh Fault (ATF)-North Qilian Shan marginal Fault (NQF), and the southern Kuantan Shan-Longshou Shan Fault (KLF). So its study is important to understanding the mechanism of Tibet formation and its influence on global climate change. The oldest Cenozoic sediments in the Corridor is the Huoshaogou Formation which consists of terrigenous fine conglomerate, sandstone, sandy mudstone and mudstone, depositing in alluvial to lacustrine and fan delta sedimentary environments. Detailed paleomagnetic measurements of this sequence at Yumen clearly reveal eleven pairs of normal and reversed polarities. Fossil mammals found around the section support that most of the observed polarities can be well correlated with chrons between 13n and 18r of the standard geomagnetic polarity time scale, yielding ages of 40.2-33.35 Ma. The mean declinations of this sequence and its immediately above stratigraphy indicate an 18.3° rapid clockwise rotation of the Hexi Corridor. Since this sequence has been strongly folded and is capped by an angular unconformity, we think that the presence of the thick alluvial fan conglomeration at the bottom of the foreland basin may indicate the initial deformation and uplift of the northern Qilian Shan. This process could occur at latest at 40.2 Ma, driven by the faults NQF and KLF that thrust onto the Hexi corridor respectively from its southern and northern margins. 7Dust storms and loess accumulation on the Tibetan Plateau: A case study of dust event on 4 March 2003 in Lhasa显示文摘Whether the Tibetan Plateau is a significant dust source area is of great importance, because this is re-lated to the understanding of sources, accumulation and environmental effects of dusts on the Tibetan Plateau and in the Far East-Pacific Ocean regions as well as to the evolution of coupling of the Tibetan Plateau and atmosphere-ocean- continent exchange. Synoptic dynamics and remote sensing tracing of a dust storm on 3 to 5 March, 2003 in Lhasa on South Tibet demonstrate that the Tibetan Plateau possesses all factors and conditions of generating dust storms. Accom-panied with this dust storm is a strong ascending stream on the Plateau which has raised various sizes of dust particles into different levels. The lifted coarse particles were largely fallen down and accumulated as loess on the eastern Tibetan Plateau, and the fine particles were translated by the west-erly jet and subsided in the northern Pacific Ocean. The spa-tial-temporal distribution of dust-storms between years 1961 and 2000 on the Plateau shows that dust-storms mainly occur in winter and early spring with high frequency, and the path of dust storm moves gradually from south to north, which is closely coupled with the northward moving of the westerly jet from winter to spring over the Tibetan Plateau. 8A novel gene delivery system targeting cells expressing VEGF receptors显示文摘Two ligand oligopeptides GV1 and GV2 were designed according to the putative binding region of VEGF to its receptors. GV1, GV2 and endosome releasing oligopeptide HA20 were conjugated with poly-L-lysine or protamine and the resulting conjugates could interact with DNA in a noncovalent bond to form a complex. Using pSV2-β-galactosidase as a reporter gene, it has been demonstrated that exogenous gene was transferred into bovine aortic arch-derived endothelial cells (ABAE) andhuman malignant melanoma cell lines (A375) in vitro. In vivo experiments, exogenous gene was transferred into tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells of subcutaneously transplanted human colon cancer LOVO, human malignant melanoma A375 and human hepatoma graft in nude mice. This system could also target gene to intrahepatically transplanted human hepatoma injected via portal vein in nude mice. 9Clinical and experimental study on regional administration of phosphorus32 glassmicrospheres in treating hepatic carcinoma显示文摘AIM To study the therapeutical effectiveness, dosage range and toxic adverse effects of domestic phosphorus 32 glass microsphere and evaluate its clinical significance. METHODS Ⅰ. Fifty two BALB/*!c tumor bearing male nude mice were allocated into treatment group( n =38) and control group( n =14). In the former group different doses of 32 P GMS were injected into the tumor mass, while in the latter 31 P GMS or no treatment was given. The experimental animals were sacrificed in batches, and then the tumors and their nearby tissues were examined by light and electron microscopy. Ⅱ. Through selective catheterization of hepatic artery, 32 P GMS was infused to 5 healthy domestic pigs in a dosage equivalent to the therapeutic dose for human being, and 31 P GMS was infused to another 5 healthy domestic pigs. Two pigs infused with contrast medium served as whole course blank controls. One pig from each group was surrendered to euthanasia at week 1, 4, 8 and 16 respectively. The ultrastructural histopath ological changes in liver tissues taken from different sites were evaluated semiquan titatively. Ⅲ. One hundred and twenty seven times of 32 P GMS intrahepatic artery interventional therapies were performed on 93 patients with hepatic carcinoma, including 79 cases of primary hepatic carcinoma and 14 cases of secondary hepatic carcinoma. 32 P GMS ( n =30), and group B, 32 P GMS and half dose of trans hepatic artery embolization (TAE) ( n =49) , and 18 patients with HCC by TAE only as control group C. Fourteen patients with secondary hepatic carcinoma were treated in the same way as group B or C. RESULTS Ⅰ. Comparing with the control group, the treatment group of tumor bearing nude mice attained the tumor inhibition rates of 59 7%-93 7% ( F =579 62, P <0 01) at 14*!d . At an absorbed dose of 7320Gy, the tumor cells were completely destroyed. When the absorbed doses ranged from 1830Gy to 3660Gy, most of the tumor cells showed the evidences of injury or necrosis, but there appeared some well differentiated tumor cells and enhanced effect of the autoimmunocytes. At an absorbed dose of 366Gy or less, some tumor cells still remained active proliferative ability. The definite anticancer effect appeared as early as 3d after intratumoral injection of 32 P GMS. Ⅱ. The cumulative amount of 32 P GMS in the target tissue after trans hepatic artery instillation attained more than 90% of the total dose administrated. Semiquantitative analysis of ultrastructral morphology in the experimental group showed no statistical difference between the nuclear abnormality (N abn ) and mitochondrial variability (M var ) at week 1 or 2, but revealed prominent difference (χ 2=6 70-9 68, P <0 01 , χ 2=65 09-115 09, P <0 001 ) as compared with those in the other groups. In the experimental group the N abn in tissues showed no significant difference between week 8 and week 16. No apparent changes were found in the stomach, spleen, kidney and lung tissues of the experimental pigs. Ⅲ. The therapeutical results of HCC patients in group A were closely approximated to those of group C, no hematological toxic side effects were noted, and the systemic reaction was mild. In some patients 2*!mos - 3*!mos after treatment some secondary foci appeared around the periphery of the primary lesion. In general better effectiveness was obtained in patients with small lesion. After analyzing by RIDIT method, the therapeutic result in group B was significantly better than that in group C, and secondary foci around the original lesion were rarely seen at 3*!mos after treatment. In group C the collateral circulation was reestablished along the periphery of primary foci and the secondary foci appeared more frequently, and required to undergo several courses of treatment. 10A feasible strategy for focal cerebral ischemiareperfusion injury: remote ischemic postconditioning显示文摘It is difficult to control the degree of ischemic postconditioning in the brain and other ischemia-sensitive organs.Remote ischemic postconditioning could protect some ischemia-sensitive organs through measures on terminal organs.In this study,a focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model was established using three cycles of remote ischemic postconditioning,each cycle consisted of 10-minute occlusion of the femoral artery and 10-minute opening.The results showed that,remote ischemic postconditioning significantly decreased the percentage of the infarct area and attenuated brain edema.In addition,inflammatory nuclear factor-κB expression was significantly lower,while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression was significantly elevated in the cerebral cortex on the ischemic side.Our findings indicate that remote ischemic postconditioning attenuates focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury,and that the neuroprotective mechanism is mediated by an anti-apoptotic effect and reduction of the inflammatory response.Qiang Liu Shengnian Zhou Yaodong Wang Fang Qi Yuan Song Siwei Long 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,15:21
11Dendritic Cells Transduced with SOCS1 Gene Exhibit Regulatory DC Properties and Prolong Allograft Survival显示文摘SOCS1 is a key regulator of cytokine signaling and is important for maintaining balance in the immune system. It is thought to participate in negative feedback loops in cytokine signaling and may be an important signal for the regulation of dendritic cell (DC) maturation. However, it remains unclear whether DCs transduced with SOCS1 exhibit characteristics of regulatory DCs and induce allogeneic T-cell hyporesponsiveness. In this study, we constructed adenoviral vector coding SOCS1 (Ad-SOCS1) that can efficiently increase SOCS1 gene expression in bone marrow-derived dendritic cells. DCs transduced with Ad-SOCS1 (DC-SOCS1) expressed low levels of costimulatory and MHC molecules, were resistant to maturation and activation stimulation, induced allogeneic T-cell hyporesponsiveness, and promoted the generation of regulatory-like T cells in vitro. DC-SOCS1 pretreatment significantly prolonged the survival of allografts and led to a substantial increase in the generation of regulatory T cells. 14Gastrodin promotes the secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in the injured spinal cord显示文摘Gastrodin, an active component of tall gastrodia tuber, is widely used in the treatment of dizziness, paralysis, epilepsy, stroke and dementia, and exhibits a neuroprotective effect. A rat model of spinal cord injury was established using Allen's method, and gastrodin was administered via the subarachnoid cavity and by intraperitoneal injection for 7 days. Results show that gastrodin promoted the secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in rats with spinal cord injury. After gastrodin treatment, the maximum angle of the inclined plane test, and the Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan scores increased. Moreover, gastrodin improved neural tissue recovery in the injured spinal cord. 15Report on Childhood Obesity in China (10): Association of Sleep Duration with Obesity显示文摘Objectives To explore the association of sleep duration with obesity among children in urban areas of China.Methods A total of 6 576 children(3 293 boys and 3 283 girls) aged 7-11 years were randomly selected from 36 primary schools in 6 metropolitan cities in China.A 7-day Physical Activity Recall was used to assess the sleep duration and physical activity level.The height,weight,waist circumference(WC) and percentage of body fat(%BF,as determined by bioelectrical impedance analysis technique) were measured by following the standardized operation procedures.The information on demography,lifestyle and eating habits was collected with a self-administered questionnaire from participants and their parents.Results The average sleep duration per night in the children was 9.7 h with the decreasing trends along with the increase of age(P<0.05).The sleep duration was negatively associated with body mass index(BMI) and WC in both boys and girls after adjustment for confounders(β value-0.23 and-0.82 for boys,-0.24 and-0.91 for girls,respectively,P<0.01).However,no significant association of sleep duration with %BF was found.Children who slept less than 9.0 h per night had a higher risk for overweight and obesity(OR=1.29,95% CI:1.01,1.64) and abdominal obesity(OR=1.38,95% CI:1.04,1.83) as compared with those who slept for 10.0-10.9 h.Conclusions Short sleep duration is associated with obesity.It is important to ensure adequate sleep duration of children and foster their healthy lifestyle at an early stage of life.MENG Li Ping LIUAi Ling HU Xiao Qi ZHANG Qian DU Song Ming FANG Hong Yun MA Jun XU Gui Fa LI Ying GUO Hong Wei DU Lin MA Guan Sheng 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2:16
16Predictive Value of BRAF^V600E Mutation for Lymph Node Metastasis in Papillary Thyroid Cancer:A Meta-analysis显示文摘BRAF^V600E mutation has been thought to be a valuable molecular marker that may predict a worse prognosis for papillary thyroid cancer (PTC).But whether BRAF^V600E mutation is associated with lymph node metastasis (LNM)remains controversial. Different surgical strategies may bring a bias in demonsstrating the association between them.In order to delineate a risk stratification to guide a tailored initial approach to tumors that express BRAF^V600E mutation,we performed this meta-analysis by using the articles in which total or near-total thyroidectomy plus bilateral central lymph node dissection was routinely performed to avoid the bias from the surgical strategy.We searched the Medline,Embase and CNKI database for eligible studies from January 2003 to May 2018.Meta-analysis was performed using the STATA 12.0 software.Odds ratios (ORs)and 95% confidence intervals (CIs)were calculated under fixed-effects or random-effects models.Fifteen clinical studies were included with a total of 4909 PTC patients. Our meta-analysis results reported that BRAF^V600E mutation was associated with LNM (OR=1.34;95% CI:1.09-1.65;P=0.005),as well as central LNM (OR=1.59;95% CI: 1.35-1.88;P<0.00001).Moreover,in patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma, we also confirmed the predictive value of BRAF^V600E mutation for LNM (OR=3.49;95% CI:2.02-6.02;P<0.00001).This meta-analysis demonstrates that BRAF^V600E mutation is closely related to LNM in PTC patients.The results suggest that BRAF^V600E mutation can be considered as a risk factor for LNM in PTC.Moreover,combining BRAF^V600E mutation with other risk factors to determine the initial surgical treatment may bring benefits for PTC patients.Jing-yong SONG Shi-ran SUN Fang DONG Tao HUANG Bin WU Jing ZHOU 2018Current Medical Science2018,38,5:16

18Motor imagery training induces changes in brain neural networks in stroke patients显示文摘Motor imagery is the mental representation of an action without overt movement or muscle activation. However, the effects of motor imagery on stroke-induced hand dysfunction and brain neural networks are still unknown. We conducted a randomized controlled trial in the China Rehabilitation Research Center. Twenty stroke patients, including 13 males and 7 females, 32–51 years old, were recruited and randomly assigned to the traditional rehabilitation treatment group(PP group, n = 10) or the motor imagery training combined with traditional rehabilitation treatment group(MP group, n = 10). All patients received rehabilitation training once a day, 45 minutes per session, five times per week, for 4 consecutive weeks. In the MP group, motor imagery training was performed for 45 minutes after traditional rehabilitation training, daily. Action Research Arm Test and the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the upper extremity were used to evaluate hand functions before and after treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation was used to analyze motor evoked potentials in the affected extremity. Diffusion tensor imaging was used to assess changes in brain neural networks. Compared with the PP group, the MP group showed better recovery of hand function, higher amplitude of the motor evoked potential in the abductor pollicis brevis, greater fractional anisotropy of the right dorsal pathway, and an increase in the fractional anisotropy of the bilateral dorsal pathway. Our findings indicate that 4 weeks of motor imagery training combined with traditional rehabilitation treatment improves hand function in stroke patients by enhancing the dorsal pathway. 19Self-microemulsifying drug delivery system for improving the bioavailability of huperzine A by lymphatic uptake显示文摘Huperzine A(Hup-A) is a poorly water-soluble drug with low oral bioavailability. A selfmicroemulsifying drug delivery system(SMEDDS) was used to enhance the oral bioavailability and lymphatic uptake and transport of Hup-A. A single-pass intestinal perfusion(SPIP) technique and a chylomicron flow-blocking approach were used to study its intestinal absorption, mesenteric lymph node distribution and intestinal lymphatic uptake. The value of the area under the plasma concentration–time curve(AUC) of Hup-A SMEDDS was significantly higher than that of a Hup-A suspension(P <0.01).The absorption rate constant(K_a) and the apparent permeability coefficient(P_(app)) for Hup-A in different parts of the intestine suggested a passive transport mechanism, and the values of K_a and P_(app) of Hup-A SMEDDS in the ileum were much higher than those in other intestinal segments. The determination of Hup-A concentration in mesenteric lymph nodes can be used to explain the intestinal lymphatic absorption of Hup-A SMEDDS. For Hup-A SMEDDS, the values of AUC and maximum plasma concentration(C_(max)) of the blocking model were significantly lower than those of the control model(P<0.05). 20Insecticidal activities and active components of the alcohol extract from green peel of Juglans mandshurica显示文摘The extract of green peel of Juglans mandshurica Maxim was extracted by common method for studying its insecticidal activities and analyzing the active components. Results showed that the alcohol extract and the chloroform part of extract (separated with chloroform from alcohol extract) form green peel of J. mandshurica have insecticidal activities in contact toxicity and stomach toxicity against larvae of Lymantria dispar L.. After application of the extracts for five days, the corrected mortality of larvae of Lymantria dispar for both extracts was more than 50% in contact toxicity and stomach toxicity at the concentration of ≥ 5 g·L^(-1). The insecticidal activity for both alcohol extract and chloroform part of extract is more effect in contact toxicity than in stomach toxicity, but no significant difference in the insecticidal activities was found between alcohol extract and chloroform part of extract. The active components in the chloroform part of extract from green peel of J. mandshurica were analyzed by GC-MS.
