1Development of a static test apparatus for evaluating the performance of three PM2.5 separators commonly used in China显示文摘PM2.5 separator directly affects the accuracy of PM2.5 sampling.The specification testing and evaluation for PM2.5 separator is particularly important,especially under China’s wide variation of terrain and climate.In this study,first a static test apparatus based on polydisperse aerosol was established and calibrated to evaluate the performance of the PM2.5 separators.A uniform mixing chamber was developed to make particles mix completely.The aerosol concentration relative standard deviations of three test points at the same horizontal chamber position were less than 0.57%,and the particle size distribution obeyed logarithmic normal distribution with an R2 of 0.996.The flow rate deviation between the measurement and the set point flow rate agreed to within±1.0%in the range of-40 to 50℃.Secondly,the separation,flow and loading characteristics of three cyclone separators(VSCC-A,SCC-A and SCC112)were evaluated using this system.The results showed that the 50%cutoff sizes(D50)of the three cyclones were 2.48,2.47 and 2.44μm when worked at the manufacturer’s recommended flow rates,respectively.The geometric standard deviation(GSD)of the capture efficiency of VSCCA was 1.23,showed a slightly sharper than SCC-A(GSD=1.27),while the SCC112 did not meet the relevant indicator(GSD=1.2±0.1)with a GSD=1.44.The flow rate and loading test had a great effect on D50,while the GSD remained almost the same as before.In addition,the maintenance frequency under different air pollution conditions of the cyclones was summarized according to the loading test.Peng Du Jianguo Liu Huaqiao Gui Jiaoshi Zhang Tongzhu Yu Jie Wang Yin Cheng Yihuai Lu Yawei Yao Qiang Fu ChihChieh Chen 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:9
2An analytical method for chlorinated paraffins and their determination in soil samples显示文摘Short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) are possibly persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and are candidate POPs of the Stockholm Convention. In this study, three quantitative methods for analyzing CPs were compared using a gas chromatograph-electron capture detector (GC-ECD), gas chromatograph-electron capture negative ion low resolution mass spectrometry (GC-ECNI-LRMS) and gas chromatograph-electron ionization tandem mass spectrometry (GC-EI-MS2). A quantitative method for the analysis of total CPs in soil samples was established. 4Alterations of endogenous metabolites in urine of rats exposed to decabromodiphenyl ether using metabonomic approaches显示文摘There is large usage of polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs) especially for decabromodiphenyl ether(BDE-209, Deca-BDE) in controlling the risks of fire. The toxicological effects of PBDEs are worth being concerned about. Female SD rats were daily gavaged with BDE-209 ether at the dose of 100 mg/kg for 20 days. Histological observation was performed for the screening of the target organs for BDE-209 exposure. The distribution and metabolism of PBDEs in the exposed main organs were evidenced by HRGC-HRMS. Alterations of the endogenous metabolite concentrations in urine were investigated using metabonomic approaches based on1H NMR spectrum. Histopathological changes including serious edema in kidney, hepatocellular spotty necrosis and perivasculitis in liver indicated that BDE-209 caused potential influences on endogenous metabolism in the exposed liver and the kidney. BDE-209 was found to be highly accumulated in lipid, ovary, kidney and liver after 20 days' exposure. Occurrence of other lower brominated PBDEs in the rats demonstrated that reductive debromination process happened in vivo. Hydroxylated and methoxylated–BDEs, as metabolism products, were also detected in the rat tissues. A total of 12 different endogenous metabolites showed obvious alterations in urine from the exposed rats, indicating the disturbance of the corresponding internal biochemical processes induced by BDE-209 exposure. 5Direct and single-step sensing of primary ovarian cancers related glycosidases显示文摘High sensitive,accurate detection for tumor-associated overexpressed enzyme activity is highly significant for further understanding enzyme function,discovering potential drugs,and early diagnosis and prevention of diseases.In this work,we developed a facile,direct and single-step detection platform for primary ovarian cancers related glycosidase activity based on the inner filter effect(IFE)between glycosidase catalytic product and black phosphorus quantum dots(BPQDs).Highly fluorescent BPQDs were successfully synthesized from bulk black phosphorus by a simple liquid exfoliation method.Under the catalysis ofβ-galactosidase,p-nitrophenyl-β-D-galactopyranoside(PNPG)was transformed into pnitrophenol(PNP)andβ-D-galactopyranoside.Meanwhile,the absorption of catalytic product PNP greatly overlapped with the excitation and emission spectra of fluorescent BPQDs,leading to the fluorescence quenching of BPQDs with a high quenching efficiency.The proposed sensing strategy provided a low detection limit of 0.76 U/L,which was 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than most unmodified sensing platforms.D-Galactal was selected as the inhibitor forβ-galactosidase to further assess the feasibility of screening potential inhibitors.The fluorescence recovery of BPQDs suggests that the unmodified sensing platform is feasible to discover potential drugs ofβ-galactosidase.Our work paves a general way in the detection of glycosidase activity with fluorescent BPQDs,which can be promising for glycosidase-related disease diagnosis and pathophysiology elucidation.Dan Li Ling Liang Yawei Tang Linna Fu Shehua Xiao Quan Yuan 2019Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5:2

7Long-range atmospheric transport and alpine condensation of short-chain chlorinated paraffins on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Pristine alpine regions are ideal regions for investigating the long-range atmospheric transport and cold trapping effects of short chain chlorinated paraffins(SCCPs).The concentrations and alpine condensation of SCCPs were investigated in lichen samples collected from the southeastern Tibetan Plateau.The concentrations of SCCPs ranged from 3098 to 6999 ng/g lipid weight(lw)and appeared to have an increasing trend with altitude.For congeners,C10 dominated among all the congener groups.The different environmental behavior for different congener groups was closely related to their octanol-air partition coefficient(Koa).C10 congeners showed an increasing trend with altitude,whereas C13 congeners were negatively correlated with altitude.Volumetric bioconcentration factors(BCF)of SCCPs reached 8.71 in lichens,which were higher than other semivolatile organic compounds(SVOCs)such as organochlorine pesticides(OCPs),polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs),polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs),and hexabromocyclododecane(HBCD).These results suggested that SCCPs were prone to accumulate in the lichen from the air and provided evidence for the role of lichens as a suitable atmospheric indicator in the Tibetan Plateau.Huijuan Li Duo Bu Yan Gao Nali Zhu Jing Wu Xiangfeng Chen Jianjie Fu Yawei Wang Aiqian Zhang Guibin Jiang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,1:1

10Presence of organophosphate flame retardants(OPEs)in different functional areas in residential homes in Beijing,China显示文摘The production and application of organophosphate esters(OPEs)have dramatically increased in recent years due to their use as a replacement for brominated flame retardants.In this study,13 OPEs(∑_(13)OPEs)were analyzed in indoor air samples from kitchens and living rooms in 14 residential homes in Beijing,China.The concentrations of ∑_(13)OPEs in kitchen air samples(mean:13 ng/m^(3))were significantly(p<0.05)higher than in living room air samples(5.0 ng/m^(3)).In addition,paired window surface organic film samples were collected and analyzed to investigate film-air partitioning,exhibiting a mean concentration of ∑_(13)OPEs of 4100 ng/m^(2).The congener profiles showed that tris(2-chloroisopropyl)phosphate(TCPP)was the predominant compound in both window film samples(48%)and the corresponding indoor air sample(56%).The estimated daily intakes(EDI)of OPEs via indoor air inhalation were 2.8 and 1.4 ng/kg/day for infants and adults,respectively,both of which are below the reference dose values(RfDs).Overall,these findings indicate that OPEs in the indoor air environment of residential homes in Beijing are not likely to pose a health risk to the general population.Kun Lv Lu Bai Boyu Song Xindong Ma Minmin Hou Jie Fu Yali Shi Yawei Wang Guibin Jiang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5:1

17Comparison of three data mining methods in predicting 5-year survival of colorectal cancer patients显示文摘The prediction of colorectal cancer(CRC) survivability has always been a challenging research issue. Considering the importance of predicting CRC patients' survival rates, we compared the performance of three data mining methods: decision trees(DTs), artificial neural networks(ANNs) and support vector machines(SVMs), for predicting 5-year survival of CRC patients to assist clinicians in making treatment decisions. The CRC dataset used to build the prediction model comes from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results(SEER) program. The 5-fold cross-validation and random forest algorithm were respectively utilized for measuring the model predictive accuracy and the importance of features. Experimental results show that the predictive accuracy of ANNs(0.73) and SVMs(0.75) were higher than that of DTs, and they also have the best result in the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve(area under curve(AUC)=0.82). 18Frequency domain based super-resolution method for mixed-resolution multi-view images显示文摘Super-resolution(SR) techniques, which are based on single or multi-frame low-resolution(LR) images, have been extensively investigated in the last two decades. Mixed-resolution multiview video format plays an important role in three-dimensional television(3DTV) coding scheme. Previous work considers multiview or multi-camera images and videos at the same resolution,which performs well under the planar model without or with little projection error among the videos captured by different cameras.In recent years, several researchers have discussed the SR problem in mixed-resolution multi-view video format, where the superresolved image is created using the up-sampled version of the LR image and the high frequency components extracted from the warped image in the adjacent high-resolution(HR) views. Unfortunately, the output HR images suffer from artifacts caused by depth error. To obtain the detailed texture and edge information from the HR image as much as possible, while preserving the structure of the LR image, a novel SR reconstruction algorithm is proposed.The algorithm is composed of three components: the structure term, the detail information term, and the regularization term. 20Boron promoted Fe^(3+)/peracetic acid process for sulfamethazine degradation:Efficiency,role of boron,and identification of the reactive species显示文摘In this work,boron(B)was used to promote Fe^(3+)/peracetic acid(Fe^(3+)/PAA)for the degradation of sulfamethazine(SMT).An SMT degradation efficiency of 9.1%was observed in the Fe^(3+)/PAA system over 60 min,which was significantly increased to 99.3%in the B/Fe^(3+)/PAA system over 10 min.The B/Fe^(3+)/PAA process also exhibited superior resistance to natural substances,excellent adaptability to different harmful substances,and good removal of antibiotics in natural fresh water samples.The mechanism of action of boron for Fe^(3+)reduction was determined using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,density functional theory(DFT)calculations,and electrochemical tests.The dominant role of^(·)OH was confirmed using quenching experiments,electron spin resonance(EPR)spectroscopy,and quantitative tests.Organic radicals(R-O^(·))and Fe(IV)also significantly contribute to the removal of SMT.DFT calculations on the reaction between Fe^(2+)and the PAA were conducted to further determine the contribution from ^(·)OH,R-O^(·),and Fe(IV)from the perspective of thermodynamics and the reaction pathways.Different boron dosages,Fe^(3+)dosages,and initial pH values were also investigated in the B/Fe^(3+)/PAA system to study their effect of SMT removal and the production of the reactive species.Fe(IV)production determined the k_(R-O·+Fe(IV))value suggesting that Fe(IV)may play a more important role than R-O^(·).A comparison of the results with other processes has also proved that the procedure described in this study(B/Fe^(3+)/PAA)is an effective method for the degradation of antibiotics.Yanhong Zhang Guangbing Liu Yuzhu Xue Lichun Fu Yawei Qian Minhui Hou Xiang Li Chen Ling Ying Zhang Yuwei Pan 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,1:0
