1Carbon pools and fluxes in the China Seas and adjacent oceans显示文摘The China Seas include the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea, and Bohai Sea. Located off the Northwestern Pacific margin, covering 4700000 km^2 from tropical to northern temperate zones, and including a variety of continental margins/basins and depths, the China Seas provide typical cases for carbon budget studies. The South China Sea being a deep basin and part of the Western Pacific Warm Pool is characterized by oceanic features; the East China Sea with a wide continental shelf, enormous terrestrial discharges and open margins to the West Pacific, is featured by strong cross-shelf materials transport; the Yellow Sea is featured by the confluence of cold and warm waters; and the Bohai Sea is a shallow semiclosed gulf with strong impacts of human activities. Three large rivers, the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Pearl River, flow into the East China Sea, the Bohai Sea, and the South China Sea, respectively. The Kuroshio Current at the outer margin of the Chinese continental shelf is one of the two major western boundary currents of the world oceans and its strength and position directly affect the regional climate of China. These characteristics make the China Seas a typical case of marginal seas to study carbon storage and fluxes. This paper systematically analyzes the literature data on the carbon pools and fluxes of the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea, including different interfaces(land-sea, sea-air, sediment-water, and marginal sea-open ocean) and different ecosystems(mangroves, wetland, seagrass beds, macroalgae mariculture, coral reefs, euphotic zones, and water column). Among the four seas, the Bohai Sea and South China Sea are acting as CO_2 sources, releasing about0.22 and 13.86–33.60 Tg C yr^(-1) into the atmosphere, respectively, whereas the Yellow Sea and East China Sea are acting as carbon sinks, absorbing about 1.15 and 6.92–23.30 Tg C yr^(-1) of atmospheric CO_2, respectively. Overall, if only the CO_2 exchange at the sea-air interface is considered, the Chinese marginal seas appear to be a source of atmospheric CO_2, with a net release of 6.01–9.33 Tg C yr^(-1), mainly from the inputs of rivers and adjacent oceans. The riverine dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) input into the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 5.04, 14.60, and 40.14 Tg C yr^(-1),respectively. The DIC input from adjacent oceans is as high as 144.81 Tg C yr^(-1), significantly exceeding the carbon released from the seas to the atmosphere. In terms of output, the depositional fluxes of organic carbon in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 2.00, 3.60, 7.40, and 5.92 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The fluxes of organic carbon from the East China Sea and South China Sea to the adjacent oceans are 15.25–36.70 and 43.93 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The annual carbon storage of mangroves, wetlands, and seagrass in Chinese coastal waters is 0.36–1.75 Tg C yr^(-1), with a dissolved organic carbon(DOC) output from seagrass beds of up to 0.59 Tg C yr^(-1). Removable organic carbon flux by Chinese macroalgae mariculture account for 0.68 Tg C yr^(-1) and the associated POC depositional and DOC releasing fluxes are 0.14 and 0.82 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. Thus, in total, the annual output of organic carbon, which is mainly DOC, in the China Seas is 81.72–104.56 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the East China Sea to the adjacent oceans is 15.00–35.00 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the South China Sea is 31.39 Tg C yr^(-1). 2Development of a static test apparatus for evaluating the performance of three PM2.5 separators commonly used in China显示文摘PM2.5 separator directly affects the accuracy of PM2.5 sampling.The specification testing and evaluation for PM2.5 separator is particularly important,especially under China’s wide variation of terrain and climate.In this study,first a static test apparatus based on polydisperse aerosol was established and calibrated to evaluate the performance of the PM2.5 separators.A uniform mixing chamber was developed to make particles mix completely.The aerosol concentration relative standard deviations of three test points at the same horizontal chamber position were less than 0.57%,and the particle size distribution obeyed logarithmic normal distribution with an R2 of 0.996.The flow rate deviation between the measurement and the set point flow rate agreed to within±1.0%in the range of-40 to 50℃.Secondly,the separation,flow and loading characteristics of three cyclone separators(VSCC-A,SCC-A and SCC112)were evaluated using this system.The results showed that the 50%cutoff sizes(D50)of the three cyclones were 2.48,2.47 and 2.44μm when worked at the manufacturer’s recommended flow rates,respectively.The geometric standard deviation(GSD)of the capture efficiency of VSCCA was 1.23,showed a slightly sharper than SCC-A(GSD=1.27),while the SCC112 did not meet the relevant indicator(GSD=1.2±0.1)with a GSD=1.44.The flow rate and loading test had a great effect on D50,while the GSD remained almost the same as before.In addition,the maintenance frequency under different air pollution conditions of the cyclones was summarized according to the loading test.Peng Du Jianguo Liu Huaqiao Gui Jiaoshi Zhang Tongzhu Yu Jie Wang Yin Cheng Yihuai Lu Yawei Yao Qiang Fu ChihChieh Chen 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1:9
3Processes of coastal ecosystem carbon sequestration and approaches for increasing carbon sink显示文摘The oceans are the largest carbon pools on Earth, and play the role of a 'buffer' in climate change. Blue carbon, the carbon(mainly organic carbon) captured by marine ecosystems, is one of the important mechanisms of marine carbon storage.Blue carbon was initially recognized only in the form of visible coastal plant carbon sequestration. In fact, microorganisms(phytoplankton, bacteria, archaea, viruses, and protozoa), which did not receive much attention in the past, account for more than 90% of the total marine biomass and are the main contributors to blue carbon. Chinese coastal seas, equivalent to 1/3 of China's total land area, have a huge carbon sink potential needing urgently research and development. In this paper, we focus on the processes and mechanisms of coastal ocean's carbon sequestration and the approaches for increasing that sequestration. We discuss the structures of coastal ecosystems, the processes of carbon cycle, and the mechanisms of carbon sequestration. Using the evolution of coastal ocean's carbon sinks in sedimentary records over geologic times, we also discuss the possible effects of natural processes and anthropogenic activities on marine carbon sinks. 12Antioxidant interactions between hydrophilic and lipophilic phytochemicals are influenced by their ratios and total concentrations显示文摘Lipophilic(lycopene,β-carotene)and hydrophilic(caffeic acid,p-coumaric acid)phytochemicals were mixed in molar mass at different concentrations/ratios to explore the antioxidant interactions on H_(2)O_(2)-treated H9c2 cells.Reactive oxide species(ROS),expression of antioxidant enzymes,and oxidation products were analyzed and evaluated by synergistic rate(SR)and combination index(CI).At constant concentrations,antioxidant interactions were influenced by ratios.Group contained more hydrophilic compounds(eg.,p-coumaric acid:β-carotene=9:1)showed antioxidant synergism(SR=22.33±1.23,SR>0)at 3.0μM,while groups that contained more lipophilic compounds(eg.,p-coumaric acid:β-carotene=1:9)showed antioxidant antagonism(SR=-11.68±1.25,SR<0)at 3.0μM.Antioxidant interactions were also influenced by concentrations.From results,ROS generation of group(p-coumaric acid:β-carotene=1:9)changed from synergism(SR=12.27±2.34,SR>0)to antagonism(SR=-11.68±1.25,SR<0)as their total concentrations increased from 1.5μM to 3.0μM.Therefore,this study discussed the possible mechanism of ratio and concentration on the antioxidant interaction among hydrophilic and lipophilic phytochemicals.It also suggested that proper concentrations/ratios of hydrophilic and lipophilic phytochemicals should be considered in diet and formulation of functional foods.Yao Pan Hongyan Li Xuan Chen Yawei Fan Bing Zhang Rong Liu Ze-yuan Deng 2022Food Bioscience2022,45,1:0

16Surface Modification of Poly-(p-Phenylene Terephthalamide) Pulp with a Silane Containing Isocyanate Group for Silicone Composites Reinforcement显示文摘A silane containing isocynate groups(3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl cyanic acid ester,NCO) associated with hexamethyldisilazane(HDMS) is used to modify the surface of poly-(p-phenylene terephthalamide)(PPTA) pulps. As concerns surface chemistry,Attenuated Total Reflection Flourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy(ATR FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) confirm that NCO associated with HDMS silylated PPTA pulp surface successfully. While the modified PPTA pulps are used as reinforcing fillers for silicone composites,the dispersibility and storage stability of the composites are improved as Mooney testing indicated. 18INDEEDopt:a deep learning-based ReaxFF parameterization framework显示文摘Empirical interatomic potentials require optimization of force field parameters to tune interatomic interactions to mimic ones obtained by quantum chemistry-based methods.The optimization of the parameters is complex and requires the development of new techniques.Here,we propose an INitial-DEsign Enhanced Deep learning-based OPTimization(INDEEDopt)framework to accelerate and improve the quality of the ReaxFF parameterization.The procedure starts with a Latin Hypercube Design(LHD)algorithm that is used to explore the parameter landscape extensively.The LHD passes the information about explored regions to a deep learning model,which finds the minimum discrepancy regions and eliminates unfeasible regions,and constructs a more comprehensive understanding of physically meaningful parameter space.We demonstrate the procedure here for the parameterization of a nickel–chromium binary force field and a tungsten–sulfide–carbon–oxygen–hydrogen quinary force field.We show that INDEEDopt produces improved accuracies in shorter development time compared to the conventional optimization method.Mert Y.Sengul Yao Song Nadire Nayir Yawei Gao Ying Hung Tirthankar Dasgupta Adri C.T.van Duin 2021npj Computational Materials2021,,1:0
