| 1 | MODELING OF CONTROLLED THERMO-MECHANICAL PROCESSING OF TUBES FOR ENHANCED MANUFACTURING AND PERFORMANCE显示文摘An integrated mathematical model to simulate seamless tube rolling processes has been developed at The Timken Company. The model is capable of simulating the thermal, deformation and microstructure evolution in the piercing, elongating and reducing/sizing and the austenite decomposition in the mill annealing and cooling operations. Finite difference schemes are employed to model cooling, reducing/sizing and stretch reducing, and finite-element schemes are employed to simulate piercing and elongating. The model predicts the thermal history, deformation, rolling load, torque, recrystallization and grain growth in hot tube rolling, austenite decomposition in cooling or annealing, and the final structure-properties. In this paper mathematical models which are employed to describe the thermal, deformation and microstructure evolution along with the modeling results are presented. The developed 'tube rolling mill in the computer' provides a powerful tool for engineers for product and process development, process control, process optimization and quality control. | D. Jin E. D. | 2 | MRI versus 64-row MDCT for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To compare the diagnostic capability of multidetector computed tomography(MDCT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) for the detection of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) tumour nodules and their effect on patient management.METHODS:A total of 28 patients(25 male,3 female,mean age 67±10.8 years) with biopsy-proven HCC were investigated with 64-row MDCT(slice 3 mm native,arterial and portal-venous phase,120 mL Iomeprol,4 mL/s,delay by bolus trigger) and MRI(T1fs fl2d TE/ TR 2.72/129 ms,T2tse TE/TR 102/4000 ms,5-phase dynamic contrast-enhanced T1fs fl3d TE/TR 1.56/4.6,Gadolinium-DTPA,slice 4 mm).Consensus reading of both modalities was used as reference.Tumour nodules were analyzed with respect to number,size,and location.RESULTS:In total,162 tumour nodules were detected by consensus reading.MRI detected signifi cantly more tumour nodules(159 vs 123,P<0.001) compared to MDCT,with the best sensitivity for early arterial phase MRI.False-negative CT findings included nodules ≤5 mm(n=5),≤10 mm(n=17),≤15 mm(n=12),≤20 mm(n=4),and 1 nodule >20 mm.MRI missed 2 nodules ≤10 mm and 1 nodule ≤15 mm.On MRI,nodule diameters were greater than on CT(29.2±25.1 mm,range 5-140 mm vs 24.1±22.7 mm,range 4-129 mm,P<0.005).In 2 patients,MDCT showed only unilobar tumour spread,whereas MRI revealed additional nodules in the contralateral lobe.Detection of these nodules could have changed the therapeutic strategy.CONCLUSION:Contrast-enhanced MRI is superior to 64-row MDCT for the detection of HCC nodules.Patients should be allocated to interventional or operative treatment according to a dedicated MRI-protocol. | Michael Bernhard Pitton Roman Kloeckner Sascha Herber Gerd Otto Karl Friedrich Kreitner Christoph Dueber | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009，15，48： | 5 |
| 3 | Immunohistochemical analysis of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms显示文摘AIM: To investigate the role of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms(PanN ENs). METHODS: Tissue microarrays containing 88 PanN ENs were immunohistochemically labeled with antibodies to β-catenin, E-cadherin, adenomatous polyposis coli(APC), chromogranin and synaptophysin. One case had only metastatic tumors resected, whereas others(n = 87) received pancreatectomy with or without partial hepatectomy. Pathology slides, demographic, clinicopathologic, and follow up data were reviewed. Patients' demographics, clinicopathologic features, and immunohistochemical results from 87 primary tumors were compared between patients with low stage(stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ) and high stage(stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ) tumors. In addition, correlation of immunohistochemical results from primary tumors with disease-specific survival(DSS) was evaluated. RESULTS: Strong membranous β-catenin staining in the primary tumor was observed in all 13 stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ Pan NENs as compared to 47%(35/74) of stage Ⅰ/Ⅱtumors(P < 0.01). However, the strong membranous β-catenin staining was unassociated with tumor grade or DSS. Decreased membranous β-catenin staining was associated with decreased membranous E-cadherin labeling. Nuclear β-catenin staining was seen in 15%(2/13) of stage Ⅲ/Ⅳ Pan NENs as compared to 0%(0/74) of stage Ⅰ/Ⅱ tumors(P = 0.02). The case with metastasectomy only also showed nuclear β-catenin staining. Two of the three cases with nuclear β-catenin staining were familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP) patients. Lack of APC expression was seen in 70%(57/81) of the cases, including the 3 cases with nuclear β-catenin staining. Expression of E-cadherin and APC in primary tumor was not correlated with tumor grade, tumor stage, or disease specific survival. CONCLUSION: The Wnt/β-catenin pathway was altered in some PanN ENs, but did not Impact DSS.
