| 1 | The use of a standardized Chinese herbal formula in patients with advanced lung cancer:a feasibility study显示文摘Objective: Increasing numbers of cancer patients are using Chinese herbs(CHs). However, differences among prior studies make it difficult to draw firm conclusions about the clinical usefulness of any specific CH formula. The primary objective of this study was to establish the acceptability of taking a standardized CH formula for patients with advanced lung cancer. The secondary objective was to identify any toxicities attributable to this CH formula and to measure changes in quality of life. Methods: A single-arm, prospective study of a 6-week intervention with a selected CH formula in15 patients with stage 4 nonsmall-cell lung cancer(NSCLC, Seventh American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM staging system). Results: Patients with advanced lung cancer were interested in using the CH formula. Completion(93%)and adherence(98%) levels were very high and most patients perceived the CH treatment as easy to take and were willing to take the CHs used in the study again if it was available. About half of the patients reported adverse events, all of which were mild(Grade 1 or 2) and only a small minority(8%) were potentially related to CHs. No biochemical or hematological evidence of toxicity was observed. Overall, there were improvement in quality of life, and reduced feelings of tiredness and sleepiness. Conclusion: This study provides preliminary evidence that short-term use of a carefully selected and prepared CH formula in patients with stage 4 NSCLC is acceptable and safe. | Goulnar Kasymjanova Anh-Thi Tran Victor Cohen Carmela Pepe Lama Sakr David Small Jason Scott Agulnik Robert Thomas Jagoe | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2018,16,6: | 2 |

| 14 | Network science meets algebraic topology显示文摘Network science is largely consumed with the study of graphs with heterogeneous degree:typically large graphs with no strong topological symmetry.Network science borrows approaches from statistical physics to understand this heterogeneous structure,in a manner quite distinct from the rich symmetry of the graphs that are studied by algebraic graph theorists.Shi et al.[1]move toward bridging this divide by switching the focus from the analysis of node degree sequence to cycles.Rather than focusing on a statistical description of degrees and the connective paths between nodes, they instead study cycles of specific order within networks. | Lingqing Shen David MWalker Michael Small | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,6: | 0 |
| Charles Renfro David Chacon Brian Tabolt Ayat Fadaifard Seongbeom Mo Dino Kiratzidis Gabriel Bollag James Murray Zoe Small Trevor Lamphier Mike Robitz Lindsay Harkema Jose Tijerina Kelsey Olafson 无 | 2021 | 世界建筑导报2021,36,6: | 0 |
| 16 | RNA m^(6)A reader YTHDF2 facilitates precursor miR-126 maturation to promote acute myeloid leukemia progression显示文摘As the most common internal modification of mRNA,Ne-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)and its regulators modulate gene expression and play critical roles in various biological and patholog-ical processes including tumorigenesis. It was reported previously that m^(6)A methyltransferase(writer),methyltransferase-like 3(METTL3)adds m^(6)A in primary microRNAs(pri-miRNAs)and fa-cilitates its processing into precursor miRNAs(pre-miRNAs).However,it is unknown whether m^(6)A modification also plays a role in the maturation process of pre-miRNAs and(if so)whether such a function contributes to tumorigenesis. Here,we found that YTHDF2 is aberrantly overexpressed in acute myeloid leukemia(AML)patients, especially in relapsed patients, and plays an onco-genic role in AML.Moreover,YTHDF2 promotes expression of miR-126-3p(also known as miR-126,as it is the main product of precursor miR-126(pre-miR-126)),a miRNA that was reported as an oncomiRNA in AML,through facilitating the processing of pre-miR-126 into mature miR-126.Mechanistically,YTHDF2 recognizes m^(6)A modification in pre-miR-126 and recruits AGO2,a regulator of pre-miRNA processing,to promote the maturation of pre-miR-126.YTHDF2 posi-tively and negatively correlates with miR-126 and miR-126's downstream target genes,respec-tively,in AML patients, and forced expression of miR-126 could largely rescue YTHDF2/Ythdf2 depletion-mediated suppression on AML cell growth/proliferation and leukemogenesis,indi-cating that miR-126 is a functionally important target of YTHDF2 in AML.Overall, our studies not only reveal a previously unappreciated YTHDF2/miR-126 axis in AML and highlight the ther-apeutic potential of targeting this axis for AML treatment, but also suggest that m^(6)A plays a role in pre-miRNA processing that contributes to tumorigenesis. | Zheng Zhang Keren Zhou Li Han Andrew Small Jianhuang Xue Huilin Huang Hengyou Weng Rui Su Brandon Tan Chao Shen Wei Li Zhicong Zhao Ying Qing Xi Qin Kitty Wang Keith Leung Mark Boldin Chun-Wei Chen David Ann Zhijian Qian Xiaolan Deng Jianjun Chen Zhenhua Chen | 2024 | Genes & Diseases2024,11,1: | 0 |
