1Review of the potential of mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of infectious diseases显示文摘The therapeutic value of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for the treatment of infectious diseases and the repair of disease-induced tissue damage has been explored extensively. MSCs inhibit inflammation, reduce pathogen load and tissue damage encountered during infectious diseases through the secretion of antimicrobial factors for pathogen clearance and they phagocytose certain bacteria themselves. MSCs dampen tissue damage during infection by downregulating thelevels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibiting the excessive recruitment ofneutrophils and proliferation of T cells at the site of injury. MSCs aid in theregeneration of damaged tissue by differentiating into the damaged cell types orby releasing paracrine factors that direct tissue regeneration, differentiation, andwound healing. 2Tunable catalytic activity of gadolinium-doped ceria nanoparticles for pro-oxidation of hydrogen peroxide显示文摘We report a study of the roles of gadolinium(lll)(Gd3+)dopants in influencing the catalytic activity of gadolinium-doped ceria nanoparticles towards the pro-oxidation of hydrogen peroxide to hydroxyl radicals.These doped ceria nanoparticles with dopant concentrations of 0.6 wt.%,3 wt.%,and 6 wt.%Gd^3+were synthesized using an ozone-mediated method for tuning their catalytic activities.The Gd dopants were found to foster an increase in the percentage of Ce^3+ions in the doped ceria nanoparticles.Our reaction kinetic study revealed that the relationship between the overall reaction rates and the Gd dopant concentrations in our doped materials followed a volcano-like trend.In contrast,the apparent activation energy values of these Gd-doped ceria nanoparticles were found to be positively associated with the concentrations of Gd dopants.The overall catalytic activity trend was attributed to the interplay between the promotion and degradation effects of the Gd dopants on the properties of doped ceria nanoparticles.Anuja Bhalkikar Tai-Sing Wu Tamra J.Fisher Anandakumar Sarella Dawei Zhang Yi Gao Yun-Liang Soo Chin Li Cheung 2020Nano Research2020,13,9:2
3Ameliorative effect of alkaloid extract of Cyclea peltata(Poir.) Hook.f.& Thoms.roots(ACP) on APAP/CC1_4 induced liver toxicity in Wistar rats and in vitro free radical scavenging property显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the hepatoprotective and antioxidant properties of alkaloid extract of Cyclea peltata(C.peltata) against paracetamol/carbon tetra chloride induced liver damage in Wistar rats.Methods:In viro paracetamol/carbon tetrachloride induced liver damage in Wistar rats,in vitro free radical scavenging studies,HPTLC estimation of letrandrine and direct analysis in real timemass spectrometry of alkaloid extract of C.peltata were used for the validation.Results:The results showed that pretreatment with alkaloid extract of C.peltata caused significant reduction of serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase,serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase,serum alkaline phosphatase,serum cholesterol,liver malondialdehyde levels.The reduced glutathione,catalase,superoxide dismutase levels in liver were increased with alkaloid extract of C.peltata treatment.These results were almost comparable to silymarin and normal control.Histopathological studies also substantiated the biochemical findings.The in vitro hydroxyl,superoxide and DPPH scavenging study of alkaloid extract of C. peltata showed significant free radical scavenging property.Conclusions:The hepatoprotective property of alkaloid extract of C.peltata against paracetamol/carbon tetrachloride may be due the synergistic action of alkaloids especially tetrandrine,fangchinoline through free radical scavenging and thus preventing oxidative stress.Varghese Jancy Shine Panikamparambil Gopalakrishnan Latha Somasckharan Nair Rajam Suja Gangadharan Indira Anuja Gopan Raj Sreedharan Nair Rajasekharan 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,2:2
