2INTEGRATION OF THE MODELS OF ANNAGNPS AND REMM TO ASSESS RIPARIAN BUFFER SYSTEM FOR SEDIMENT REDUCTION显示文摘The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Annualized Agricultural Non-Point Source Pollution model (AnnAGNPS) is used to help evaluate a watershed response to agricultural management practices to control water quality. However, AnnAGNPS version 3.5 does not contain features to estimate the effect of a riparian buffer (RB) system on water quality. The Riparian Ecosystem Management Model (REMM) is used to simulate the impact of riparian buffer systems on water quality. However, frequently the lack of measured upland loadings that are required by REMM simulation limits the application of REMM. To address this data gap, a study was conducted to integrate AnnAGNPS with REMM for RB system simulation. AnnAGNPS was used to simulate water and sediment loadings from an upland field into a three-zone RB system at the Gibbs Farm located in the Georgia coastal plain. These AnnAGNPS outputs were used as the inputs to REMM. REMM was used to simulate water and sediment movement along the riparian buffers. The AnnAGNPS simulated amount of annual runoff at the edge of the field was close to observed amounts (Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency of 0.92). It is believed that a substantial portion of sand was removed from the runoff one meter into the grass buffer where the samplers were located; therefore, sand was excluded from the AnnAGNPS simulation for comparison with observed sediment. Excluding sand, the AnnAGNPS predicted amount of annual sediment matches the observed amount fairly well (Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency of 0.46). 9Abscisic Acid Connects Phytohormone Signaling with RNA Metabolic Pathways and Promotes an Antiviral Response that Is Evaded by a Self- Controlled RNA Virus显示文摘A complex network of cellular receptors,RNA targeting pathways,and small-molecule signaling provides robust plant immunity and tolerance to viruses.To maximize their fitness,viruses must evolve control mechanisms to balance host immune evasion and plant-damaging effects.The genus Potyvirus comprises plant viruses characterized by RNA genomes that encode large polyproteins led by the P1 protease.A P1 autoinhibitory domain controls polyprotein processing,the release of a downstream functional RNAsilencing suppressor,and viral replication.Here,we show that P1Pro,a plum pox virus clone that lacks the P1 autoinhibitory domain,triggers complex reprogramming of the host transcriptome and high levels of abscisic acid(ABA)accumulation.A meta-analysis highlighted ABA connections with host pathways known to control RNA stability,turnover,maturation,and translation.Transcriptomic changes triggered by P1Pro infection or ABA showed similarities in host RNA abundance and diversity.Genetic and hormone treatment assays showed that ABA promotes plant resistance to potyviral infection.Finally,quantitative mathematical modeling of viral replication in the presence of defense pathways supported self-control of polyprotein processing kinetics as a viral mechanism that attenuates the magnitude of the host antiviral response.Overall,our findings indicate that ABA is an active player in plant antiviral immunity,which is nonetheless evaded by a self-controlled RNA virus.Fabio Pasin Hongying Shan Beatriz García Maren Müller David San León Márta Ludman David H.Fresno Károly Fátyol Sergi Munné-Bosch Guillermo Rodrigo Juan Antonio García 2020Plant Communications2020,1,5:1

17Alternative feedstock for the production of activated carbon with ZnCl_(2):Forestry residue biomass and waste wood显示文摘In order to substitute fossil resources in activated carbon(AC)production,recent efforts have focused on the utilization of renewable raw materials.Regions with important wood industries offer two potentially underestimated resource types:forestry residue biomass(FRB)and waste wood(WW).Although these materials are widely available(approx.130 mio.m3a-1 FRB,approx.50 mio.ta^(-1) WW in the EU),they are mostly valorised through energy production,as they are high in ashes and may be contaminated with organics and heavy metals.In this study,both FRB and WW were treated via one-step pyrolysis for AC production.ZnCl_(2) was applied as activating agent at pyrolysis temperatures varying from 400 to 600℃ and residence times between 1 and 3 h.Overall,76 samples were prepared and characterized thoroughly via elemental analysis,N_(2)/CO_(2) ad/-desorption,thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).The produced carbons showed specific surface areas of up to 1430 m2g��1 and a pore size distribution with a micropore share of up to 80%.The presence of oxygen-containing functional groups was confirmed via FTIR.Potential feedstock contamination can be mitigated,as minerals and heavy metals could be leached out(up to-99.15%)by an additional wash step and organic contamination undergoes thermal cracking during pyrolysis.The presented study could be a next step in upcycling considerable waste streams from the wood sector through localised and non-fossil-based AC production.Dominik Bosch Jan OBack David Gurtner Sara Giberti Angela Hofmann Anke Bockreis 2022Carbon Resources Conversion2022,5,4:0
