| 4 | Litterfall production and nutrient return in different-aged Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) plantations in South China显示文摘The amounts of litter produced and nutrients returned play a fundamental role in the productivity and biogeochemical and nutrient cycling of forest ecosystems.We monitored annual litterfall production, nutrient return,and monthly dynamics over a one-year period in Chinese fir plantations aged 10, 22, and 34 years. Our objective was to quantify litterfall and nutrient return over a complete harvest rotation of Chinese fir. Annual litterfall production increased with stand age and was recorded as(3,294.6 ± 360.4),(3,733.9 ± 211.2), and(4,876.1 ± 212.8) kg ha-1a-1in stands aged 10, 22 and 34 years, respectively. Total litter production was significantly greater in the stand aged34 years than in the stand aged 10 years(p \ 0.05). With the exception of miscellaneous components, needle litterfall constituted the highest proportion(27.5–43.6 %), followed by branches/twigs(9.5–16.6 %). In all three plantations,annual total nutrient return to soil was in the order of C(1,119.95–2,709.05 kg ha-1a-1) [ N(39.32–62.04 kg ha-1a-1) [ K(15.95–22.44 kg ha-1a-1) [ P(1.30–1.63 kg ha-1a-1). C, N, K and P input to soil was significantly lower in the 10-year-old stand in comparison to the 22- and34-year-old stands(p \ 0.05). Litterfall production and nutrient return(C, N and K) followed similar patterns, and C and N input to soil was significantly related to litterfall production(needle, branch and total litterfall). | 6 | Th17 plasticity and its changes associated with inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘CD4 T helper(Th) cell differentiation into distinct T cell subsets is critical to the normal function of the immune system. Until recently,the paradigm held that na?ve T cells differentiated into distinct subsets under the guidance of environmental cues(e.g.,cytokines) and that once polarized,these cells were committed to a particular functional state. However,the existence of transdifferentiated T cell populations,which express signature transcription factors and cytokines associated with more than one Th subset,challenges the immutability of T helper subsets and suggests that plasticity is a feature of multifaceted immune responses. How this process impacts immune dysregulation in diseases such as inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) and the machinery that underlies this process is far from fully understood. Interleukin(IL)-17 secreting helper T(Th17) cells have been heavily implicated in tissue-specific immune pathology including murine models of IBD,human Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Plasticity within this subset is suggested by the existence of IL-17 secreting cells,which,can also secrete interferon-γ,the signature cytokine for Th1 cells or,can co-express the anti-inflammatory transcription factor forkhead box p3,a signature transcription factor of regulatory T cells. | 9 | Lapatinib plus capecitabine in treating HER2-positive advanced breast cancer:efficacy,safety,and biomarker results from Chinese patients显示文摘Overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2(HER2) in metastatic breast cancer(MBC) is associated with poor prognosis.This single-arm open-label trial(EGF109491;NCT00508274) was designed to confirm the efficacy and safety of lapatinib in combination with capecitabine in 52 heavily pretreated Chinese patients with HER2-positive MBC.The primary endpoint was clinical benefit rate(CBR).Secondary endpoints included progression-free survival(PFS),time to response(TTR),duration of response(DoR),central nervous system(CNS) as first site of relapse,and safety.The results showed that there were 23 patients with partial responses and 7 patients with stable disease,resulting in a CBR of 57.7%.The median PFS was 6.34 months(95% confidence interval,4.93-9.82 months).The median TTR and DoR were 4.07 months(range,0.03-14.78 months) and 6.93 months(range,1.45-9.72 months),respectively.Thirteen(25.0%) patients had new lesions as disease progression.Among them,2(3.8%) patients had CNS disease reported as the first relapse.The most common toxicities were palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia(59.6%),diarrhea(48.1%),rash(48.1%),hyperbilirubinemia(34.6%),and fatigue(30.8%).Exploratory analyses of oncogenic mutations of PIK3CA suggested that of 38 patients providing a tumor sample,baseline PIK3CA mutation status was not associated with CBR(P = 0.639) or PFS(P = 0.989).These data confirm that the lapatinib plus capecitabine combination is an effective and well-tolerated treatment option for Chinese women with heavily pretreated MBC,irrespective of PIK3CA status. | Bing-He Xu Ze-Fei Jiang Daniel Chua Zhi-Min Shao Rong-Cheng Luo Xiao-Jia Wang Dong-Geng Liu Winnie Yeo Shi-Ying Yu Beth Newstat Alka Preston Anne-Marie Martin Hai-Dong Chi Li wang | 2011 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2011,30,5: | 17 |
| 10 | Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults显示文摘Background:Few studies have assessed the relationship between multimorbidity patterns and mortality risk in the Chinese population.We aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and examined the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with the risk of mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older adults.Methods:We used data from the China Kadoorie Biobank and included 512,723 participants aged 30 to 79 years.Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more of the 15 chronic diseases collected by self-report or physical examination at baseline.Multimorbidity patterns were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis.Cox regression was used to estimate the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.Results:Overall,15.8%of participants had multimorbidity.The prevalence of multimorbidity increased with age and was higher in urban than rural participants.Four multimorbidity patterns were identified,including cardiometabolic multimorbidity(diabetes,coronary heart disease,stroke,and hypertension),respiratory multimorbidity(tuberculosis,asthma,and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(gallstone disease,chronic kidney disease,cirrhosis,peptic ulcer,and cancer),and mental and arthritis multimorbidity(neurasthenia,psychiatric disorder,and rheumatoid arthritis).During a median of 10.8 years of follow-up,49,371 deaths occurred.Compared with participants without multimorbidity,cardiometabolic multimorbidity(hazard ratios[HR]=2.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:2.14-2.26)and respiratory multimorbidity(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.31)demonstrated relatively higher risks of mortality,followed by gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(HR=1.33,95%CI:1.22-1.46).The mortality risk increased by 36%(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.35-1.37)with every additional disease.Conclusion:Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults. | Junning Fan Zhijia Sun Canqing Yu Yu Guo Pei Pei Ling Yang Yiping Chen Huaidong Du Dianjianyi Sun Yuanjie Pang Jun Zhang Simon Gilbert Daniel Avery Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Jun Lyu Liming Li On Behalf of the China Kadoorie Biobank Collaborative Group | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6: | 17 |

The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 16 | Peripartal rumen-protected methionine supplementation to higher energy diets elicits positive effects on blood neutrophil gene networks, performance and liver lipid content in dairy cows显示文摘Background: Main objectives were to determine to what extent Smartamine M(SM) supplementation to a prepartal higher-energy diet could alter neutrophil(PMN) and liver tissue immunometabolic biomarkers, and whether those responses were comparable to those in cows fed a prepartal lower-energy diet(CON).Results: Twenty-eight multiparous Holstein cows were fed CON(NEL= 1.24 Mcal/kg DM) during d-50 to d-22 relative to calving. From d-21 to calving, cows were randomly assigned to a higher-energy diet(OVE, n = 9; NEL= 1.54 Mcal/kg DM), OVE plus SM(OVE + SM, n = 10; SM = 0.07 % of DM) or remained on CON(n = 9). Al cows received the same basal lactation diet(NEL= 1.75 Mcal/kg DM). Supplementation of SM(OVE + SM) continued until 30 d postpartum. Liver biopsies were harvested at d-10, 7, and 21 relative to parturition. Blood PMN isolated at-10, 3, and 21 d relative to calving was used to evaluate gene expression. As expected, OVE increased liver lipid content postpartum; however,cows fed OVE + SM or CON had lower concentrations than OVE. Compared with OVE, cows in CON and OVE + SM had greater DMI postpartum and milk production. Furthermore, cows fed OVE + SM had the greatest milk protein and fat percentage and lowest milk SCC despite having intermediate PMN phagocytic capacity. Adaptations in PMN gene expression in OVE + SM cows associated with the lower SCC were gradual increases from-10 to 21 d in genes that facilitate migration into inflammatory sites(SELL, ITGAM), enzymes essential for reducing reactive oxygen metabolites(SOD1, SOD2), and a transcription factor(s) required for controlling PMN development(RXRA). The greater expression of TLR4 on d 3, key for activation of innate immunity due to inflammation, in OVE compared with CON cows suggests a more pronounced inflammatory state. Feeding OVE + SM dampened the upregulation of TLR4, despite the fact that these cows had similar expression of the pro-inflammatory genes NFKB1 and TNF as OVE. Cows in CON had lower overall expression of these inflammation-related genes and GSR, which generates reduced glutathione, an important cellular antioxidant.Conclusions: Although CON cows appeared to have a less stressful transition into lactation, SM supplementation was effective in alleviating negative effects of energy-overfeeding. | 17 | Effects of rare earth modifying inclusions on the pitting corrosion of 13Cr4Ni martensitic stainless steel显示文摘In this study,the pitting corrosion behavior of 13Cr4Ni martensitic stainless steel(BASE)and that modified with rare earth(REM)in 0.1 mol/L Na Cl solution were characterized.Techniques such as automatic secondary electron microscope(ASPEX PSEM detector),scanning electron microscope(SEM),transmission electron microscope(TEM),scanning Kelvin probe force microscope(SKP),potentiodynamic and potentiostatic polarizations were employed.The results obtained indicate that BASE steel contains Al_(2)O_(3)/Mn S,Al_(2)O_(3) and Mn S inclusions,while REM steels contain(La,Ce,Cr,Fe)-O and(La,Ce,Cr,Fe)-O-S inclusions.Compared with BASE steel,REM steel is more susceptible to induce the metastable pitting nucleation and repassivation,whereas it restrains the transition from metastable pitting to stable pitting.Adding 0.021%rare earth element to BASE steel can reduce the number and area of inclusions,while that of 0.058%can increase the number and enlarged the size of inclusions,which is also the reason that pitting corrosion resistance of 58 REM steel is slightly lower than that of 21 REM steel.In the process of pitting corrosion induced by Al_(2)O_(3)/Mn S inclusions,Mn S is preferentially anodic dissolved,and also the matrix contacted with Al_(2)O_(3) is subsequently anodic dissolved.For REM steels,anodic dissolution preferentially occurs at the boundary between inclusions and matrix,while(La,Ce,Cr,Fe)-O inclusions chemically dissolve in local acidic environment or are separated from steel matrix.The chemically dissolved substance(La^(3+) and Ce^(3+))of(La,Ce,Cr,Fe)-O inclusions are concentrated in pitting pits,which inhibits its continuous growth. | Changgang Wang Rongyao Ma Yangtao Zhou Yang Liu Enobong Felix Daniel Xiaofang Li Pei Wang Junhua Dong Wei Ke | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,34: | 8 |
