2Salicylic acid promotes quiescent center cell division through ROS accumulation and down-regulation of PLT1,PLT2,and WOX5显示文摘Salicylic acid(SA)plays a crucial role in plant immunity.However,its function in plant development is poorly understood.The quiescent center(QC),which maintains columella stem cells(CSCs)in the root apical meristem and typically exhibits low levels of cell division,is critical for root growth and development.Here,we show that the Arabidopsis thaliana SA overaccumulation mutant constitutively activated cell death 1(cad1),which exhibits increased cell division in the QC,is rescued by additional mutations in genes encoding the SA biosynthetic enzyme SALICYLIC ACID INDUCTION DEFFICIENT2(SID2)or the SA receptor NONEXPRESSER OF PR GENES1(NPR1),indicating that QC cell division in the cad1 mutant is promoted by the NPR1-dependent SA signaling pathway.The application of exogenous SA also promoted QC cell division in wild-type plants in a dose-dependent manner and largely suppressed the expression of genes involved in QC maintenance,including those encoding the APETALA2(AP2)transcription factors PLETHORA1(PLT1)and PLT2,as well as the homeodomain transcription factor WUSCHEL-RELATED HOMEOBOX5(WOX5).Moreover,we showed that SA promotes reactive oxygen species(ROS)production,which is necessary for the QC cell division phenotype in the cad1 mutant.These results provide insight into the function of SA in QC maintenance.Zhuqing Wang Duoyan Rong Dixing Chen Yang Xiao Renyi Liu Shuang Wu Chizuko Yamamuro 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:4

4Standard pancreatoduodenectomy versus extended pancreatoduodenectomy with modified retroperitoneal nerve resection in patients with pancreatic head cancer:a multicenter randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:The extent of pancreatoduodenectomy for pancreatic head cancer remains controversial,and more high-level clinical evidence is needed.This study aimed to evaluate the outcome of extended pancreatoduodenectomy(EPD)with retroperitoneal nerve resection in pancreatic head cancer.Methods:This multicenter randomized trial was performed at 6 Chinese highvolume hospitals that enrolled patients between October 3,2012,and September 21,2017.Four hundred patients with stage I or II pancreatic head cancer and without specific pancreatic cancer treatments(preoperative chemotherapy or chemoradiation)within three months were randomly assigned to undergo standard pancreatoduodenectomy(SPD)or EPD,with the latter followed by dissection of additional lymph nodes(LNs),nerves and soft tissues 270◦on the right side surrounding the superior mesenteric artery and celiac axis.The primary endpoint was overall survival(OS)by intention-to-treat(ITT).The secondary endpoints were disease-free survival(DFS),mortality,morbidity,and postoperative pain intensity.Results:TheR1 ratewas slightly lower with EPD(8.46%)thanwith SPD(12.56%).The morbidity and mortality rates were similar between the two groups.The median OS was similar in the EPD and SPD groups by ITT in the whole study cohort(23.0 vs.20.2 months,P=0.100),while the median DFS was superior in the EPD group(16.1 vs.13.2 months,P=0.031).Patients with preoperative CA19–9<200.0 U/mL had significantly improved OS and DFS with EPD(EPD vs.SPD,30.8 vs.20.9 months,P=0.009;23.4 vs.13.5 months,P<0.001).The EPD group exhibited significantly lower locoregional(16.48%vs.35.20%,P<0.001)andmesenteric LNrecurrence rates(3.98%vs.10.06%,P=0.022).The EPD group exhibited less back pain 6 months postoperation than the SPD group.Conclusions:EPD for pancreatic head cancer did not significantly improve OS,but patients with EPD treatment had significantly improved DFS.In the subgroup analysis,improvements in bothOS and DFS in the EPD armwere observed in patients with preoperative CA19–9<200.0 U/mL.EPD could be used as an effective surgical procedure for patients with pancreatic head cancer,especially those with preoperative CA19–9<200.0 U/mL.Qing Lin Shangyou Zheng Xianjun Yu Meifu Chen Yu Zhou Quanbo Zhou Chonghui Hu Jing Gu Zhongdong Xu LinWang Yimin Liu Qingyu Liu MinWang Guolin Li He Cheng Dongkai Zhou Guodong Liu Zhiqiang Fu Yu Long Yixiong Li Weilin Wang Renyi Qin Zhihua Li Rufu Chen 2023Cancer Communications2023,43,2:3
5Nitrogen Under-and Over-supply Induces Distinct Protein Responses in Maize Xylem Sap显示文摘Xylem sap primarily transports water and mineral nutrients such as nitrogen(N)from roots to shoots in vascular plants.However,it remains largely unknown how nitrogenous compounds,especially proteins in xylem sap,respond to N under-or over-supply.We found that reducing N supply increased amino-N percentage of total N in maize(Zea mays L.)xylem sap.Proteomic analysis showed that 23 proteins in the xylem sap of maize plants,including 12 newly identified ones,differentially accumulated in response to various N supplies.Fifteen of these 23 proteins were primarily involved in general abiotic or biotic stress responses,whereas the other five proteins appeared to respond largely to N under-or over-supply,suggesting distinct protein responses in maize xylem upon N under-and over-supply.Furthermore,one putative xylanase inhibitor and two putative O-glycosyl hydrolases had preferential gene expression in shoots.Chengsong Liao Renyi Liu Fusuo Zhang Chunjian Li Xuexian Li 2012Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2012,54,6:3
6The Mode of Promoting Industrial Targeted Poverty Alleviation through Land Circulation in Western Mountainous Region of China——A Case Study of Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County in Yunnan Province显示文摘In the industrial targeted poverty alleviation,land circulation is a key process. Based on the national strategy of targeted poverty alleviation,this paper combined the industrial development of targeted poverty alleviation with land circulation. According to the field survey on the current situation of land circulation and promotion of the industrial poverty alleviation in the typical project area of Zhongping Village in Zhongping Town and Jiaowuying Village in Jiulong Town in Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County in Yunnan Province,located in the high mountain canyon area of Jinsha River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in the west of China. This paper summarized and analyzed the organization and operation mechanism,basic practices and main results of the land circulation and promotion of industrial poverty alleviation model in the typical project area of the county. 19JASMONATE-ZIM DOMAIN proteins engage Polycomb chromatin modifiers to modulate Jasmonate signaling in Arabidopsis显示文摘Jasmonate(JA)regulates various aspects of plant growth and development and stress responses,with prominent roles in male reproductive development and defenses against herbivores and necrotrophic pathogens.JASMONATE-ZIM DOMAIN(JAZ)proteins are key regulators in the JA signaling pathway and function to repress the expression of JA-responsive genes.Here,we show that JAZ proteins directly interact with several chromatin-associated Polycomb proteins to mediate repressive chromatin modifications at JA-responsive genes and,thus,their transcriptional repression in Arabidopsis.Genetic analyses revealed that the developmental defects,including anther and pollen abnormalities,resulting from loss or block of JA signaling were partially rescued by loss of Polycomb protein-mediated chromatin silencing(Polycomb repression).We further found that JAZ-mediated transcriptional repression during anther and pollen development requires Polycomb proteins at four key Regulatory loci.Analysis of genome-wide occupancy of a Polycomb factor and transcriptome reprogramming in response to JA revealed that Polycomb repression is involved in the repression of various JA-responsive genes.Taken together,our study reveals an important chromatin-based mechanism for JAZ-mediated transcriptional repression and JA signaling in plants.Zicong Li Xiao Luo Yang Ou Huijun Jiao Li Peng Xing Fu Alberto P.Macho Renyi Liu Yuehui He 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,5:1
