1SbHKT1;4, a member of the high‐affinity potassium transporter gene family from Sorghum bicolor, functions to maintain optimal Na^+/K^+ balance under Na^+ stress显示文摘In halophytic plants, the high‐affinity potassium transporter HKT gene family can selectively uptake Kt in the presence of toxic concentrations of Nat. This has so far not been well examined in glycophytic crops. Here, we report the characterization of SbHKT1;4, a member of the HKT gene family from Sorghum bicolor. Upon Nat stress, SbHKT1;4 expression was more strongly upregulated in salt‐tolerant sorghum accession, correlating with a better balanced Nat/ Kt ratio and enhanced plant growth. Heterogeneous expression analyses in mutants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Arabidopsis thaliana indicated that overexpressing SbHKT1;4 resulted in hypersensitivity to Nat stress, and such hypersensitivity could be alleviated with the supply of elevated levels of Kt, implicating that SbHKT1;4 may mediate Kt uptake in the presence of excessive Nat. Further electrophysiological evidence demonstrated that SbHKT1;4 could transport Nat and Kt when expressed in Xenopus laevis oocytes. 3Ni nanoparticles supported on carbon as efficient catalysts for steam reforming of toluene(model tar)显示文摘This paper investigated the influences of surface properties of carbon support and nickel precursors(nickel nitrate, nickel chloride and nickel acetate) on Ni nanoparticle sizes and catalytic performances for steam reforming of toluene. Treatment with nitric acid helped to increase the amount of functional groups on the surface and hydrophilic nature of carbon support, leading to a homogeneous distribution of Ni nanoparticles. The thermal decomposition products of nickel precursor also played an important role, Ni nanoparticles supported on carbon treated with acid using nickel nitrate as the precursor exhibited the smallest mean diameter of 4.5 nm. With the loading amount increased from 6 wt% to 18 wt%, the mean particle size of Ni nanoparticles varied from4.5 nm to 9.1 nm. The as-prepared catalyst showed a high catalytic activity and a good stability for toluene steam reforming: 98.1% conversion of toluene was obtained with the Ni content of 12 wt% and the S/C ratio of3, and the conversion only decreased to 92.0% after 700 min. 5Black phosphorus-based van der Waals heterostructures for mid-infrared light-emission applications显示文摘Mid-infrared(MIR)light-emitting devices play a key role in optical communications,thermal imaging,and material analysis applications.Two-dimensional(2D)materials offer a promising direction for next-generation MIR devices owing to their exotic optical properties,as well as the ultimate thickness limit.More importantly,van der Waals heterostructures-combining the best of various 2D materials at an artificial atomic level-provide many new possibilities for constructing MIR light-emitting devices of large tuneability and high integration.Here,we introduce a simple but novel van der Waals heterostructure for MIR light-emission applications built from thin-film BP and transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs),in which BP acts as an MIR light-emission layer.For BP–WSe_(2) heterostructures,an enhancement of~200% in the photoluminescence intensities in the MIR region is observed,demonstrating highly efficient energy transfer in this heterostructure with type-Ⅰ band alignment.For BP-MoS_(2) heterostructures,a room temperature MIR light-emitting diode(LED)is enabled through the formation of a vertical PN heterojunction at the interface.Our work reveals that the BP-TMDC heterostructure with efficient light emission in the MIR range,either optically or electrically activated,provides a promising platform for infrared light property studies and applications.Xinrong Zong Huamin Hu Gang Ouyang Jingwei Wang Run Shi Le Zhang Qingsheng Zeng Chao Zhu Shouheng Chen Chun Cheng Bing Wang Han Zhang Zheng Liu Wei Huang Taihong Wang Lin Wang Xiaolong Chen 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:3

8Pea leafminer Liriomyza huidobrensis (Diptera: Agromyzidae) uses vibrational duets for efficient sexual communication显示文摘The pea leafminer (Liriomyza huidobrensis) is a notorious pest of vegetables and ornamental plants worldwide. Despite a large number of studies on its biology and ecology, the courtship behavior and sexual communication of this species remain unclear. Here, we studied vibrational communication in the sexual interaction of the pea leafminer. On host plant leaves, females and males behaviorally displayed the bobbing-quivering alternation, which finally led to copulation. Moreover, records of laser vibrometry revealed threesignal duets underlying the behavioral alternation. Sexually mature males spontaneously emitted calls (MCs) to initiate the duets. The females rapidly responded to MCs by emitting replies (FRs) that are longer in duration. The FRs further triggered male replies (MRs) in their search for potential partners. Leafminer-produced vibrational signals convey efficient information to partners and generate pair formation on stretched substrates, such as plant leaves and nylon mesh, but cannot elicit responses on dense substrates, such as glass and plastic. Vibrational playbacks of both MCs and FRs can elicit replies in females and males, respectively. This study completely characterizes substrate-borne vibrational duets in a dipteran insect. 15The Circadian System Is Essential for the Crosstalk of VEGF-Notch-mediated Endothelial Angiogenesis in Ischemic Stroke显示文摘Ischemic stroke is a major public health problem worldwide.Although the circadian clock is involved in the process of ischemic stroke,the exact mechanism of the circadian clock in regulating angiogenesis after cerebral infarction remains unclear.In the present study,we determined that environmental circadian disruption(ECD)increased the stroke severity and impaired angiogenesis in the rat middle cerebral artery occlusion model,by measuring the infarct volume,neurological tests,and angiogenesis-related protein.We further report that Bmal1 plays an irreplaceable role in angiogenesis.Overexpression of Bmal1 promoted tube-forming,migration,and wound healing,and upregulated the vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and Notch pathway protein levels.This promoting effect was reversed by the Notch pathway inhibitor DAPT,according to the results of angiogenesis capacity and VEGF pathway protein level.In conclusion,our study reveals the intervention of ECD in angiogenesis in ischemic stroke and further identifies the exact mechanism by which Bmal1 regulates angiogenesis through the VEGF-Notch1 pathway.Yuxing Zhang Xin Zhao Chun Guo Ying Zhang Fukang Zeng Qian Yin Zhong Li Le Shao Desheng Zhou Lijuan Liu 2023Neuroscience Bulletin2023,39,9:1

17Surface reconstruction,modification and functionalization of natural diatomites for miniaturization of shaped heterogeneous catalysts显示文摘Since the discovery of mesoporous silica in 1990s,there have been numerous mesoporous silica-based nanomaterials developed for catalytic applications,aiming at enhanced catalytic activity and stability.Recently,there have also been considerable interests in endowing them with hierarchical porosities to overcome the diffusional limitation for those with long unimodal channels.Present processes of making mesoporous silica largely rely on chemical sources which are relatively expensive and impose environmental concerns on their processes.In this regard,it is desirable to develop hierarchical silica supports from natural minerals.Herein,we present a series of work on surface reconstruction,modification,and functionalization to produce diatomite-based catalysts with original morphology and macro-meso-micro porosities and to test their suitability as catalyst supports for both liquid-and gas-phase reactions.Two wet-chemical routes were developed to introduce mesoporosity to both amorphous and crystalline diatomites.Importantly,we have used computational modeling to affirm that the diatomite morphology can improve catalytic performance based on fluid dynamics simulations.Thus,one could obtain this type of catalysts from numerous natural diatoms that have inherently intricate morphologies and shapes in micrometer scale.In principle,such catalytic nanocomposites acting as miniaturized industrial catalysts could be employed in microfluidic reactors for process intensification.Bowen Li Tian Wang Qiujian Le Runze Qin Yuxin Zhang Hua Chun Zeng 2023Nano Materials Science2023,5,3:0

19Delivery room resuscitation intensity and associated neonatal outcomes of 24^(+0)-31^(+6) weeks'preterm infants in China:a retrospective cross-sectional study显示文摘Background The aim of this study was to review current delivery room(DR)resuscitation intensity in Chinese tertiary neonatal intensive care units and to investigate the association between DR resuscitation intensity and short-term outcomes in preterm infants born at 24+0_31+6 weeks gestation age(GA).Methods This was a retrospective cross-sectional study.The source population was infants born at 24+0_31+6 weeks'GA who were enrolled in the Chinese Neonatal Network 2019 cohort.Eligible infants were categorized into five groups:(1)regular care;(2)oxygen supplementation and/or continuous positive airway pressure(O2/CPAP);(3)mask ventilation;(4)endotracheal intubation;and(5)cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR).The association between DR resuscitation and shortterm outcomes was evaluated by inverse propensity score-weighted logistic regression.Results Of 7939 infants included in this cohort,2419(30.5%)received regular care,1994(25.1%)received O,/CPAP,1436(18.1%)received mask ventilation,1769(22.3%)received endotracheal intubation,and 321(4.0%)received CPR in the DR.Advanced maternal age and maternal hypertension correlated with a higher need for resuscitation,and antenatal steroid use tended to be associated with a lower need for resuscitation(P<0.001).Severe brain impairment increased significantly with increasing amounts of resuscitation in DR after adjusting for perinatal factors.Resuscitation strategies vary widely between centers,with over 50%of preterm infants in eight centers requiring higher intensity resuscitation.Conclusions Increased intensity of DR interventions was associated with increased mortality and morbidities in very preterm infants in China.There is wide variation in resuscitative approaches across delivery centers,and ongoing quality improvement to standardize resuscitation practices is needed.Si-Lu Wang Chun Chen Xin-Yue Gu Zhao-Qing Yin Le Su Si-Yuan Jiang Yun Cao Li-Zhong Du Jian-Hua Sun Jiang-Qin Liu Chuan-Zhong Yang 2024World Journal of Pediatrics2024,20,1:0
20Review on the effect of heat exchanger tubes on flow behavior and heat/mass transfer of the bubble/slurry reactors显示文摘Bubble/Slurry bubble column reactors(BCR/SBCR)are intensively used as multiphase reactors for a wide range of application in the chemical,biochemical and petrochemical industries.Most of these applications involve complicate gas–liquid/gas–liquid–solid flow behavior and exothermic process,thus it is necessary to equip the BCR/SBCR with heat exchanger tubes to remove the heat and govern the performance of the reactor.Amounts of experimental and numerical studies have been carried out to describe the phenomena taking place in BCR/SBCRs with heat exchanger tubes.Unfortunately,little effort has been put on reviewing the experiments and simulations for examining the effect of internals on the performance and hydrodynamics of BCR/SBCR.The objective of this work is to give a state-of-the-art review of the literature on the effects of heat exchanger tubes with different types and configurations on flow behavior and heat/mass transfer,then provide adequate information and scientific basis for the design and the development of heat exchanger tubes in BCR/SBCR,ultimately provide reasonable suggestions for better comprehend the performance of different heat exchanger tubes on hydrodynamics.Le Li Yansheng Zhao Wenhao Lian Chun Han Qian Zhang Wei Huang 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,7:0
