1Modified chitosan hydrogels as drug delivery and tissue engineering systems:present status and applications显示文摘Chitosan,a natural cationic polysaccharide,is prepared industrially by the hydrolysis of the aminoacetyl groups of chitin,a naturally available marine polymer.Chitosan is a non-toxic,biocompatible and biodegradable polymer and has attracted considerable interest in a wide range of biomedical and pharmaceutical applications including drug delivery,cosmetics,and tissue engineering.The primary hydroxyl and amine groups located on the backbone of chitosan are responsible for the reactivity of the polymer and also act as sites for chemical modification.However,chitosan has certain limitations for use in controlled drug delivery and tissue engineering.These limitations can be overcome by chemical modification.Thus,modified chitosan hydrogels have gained importance in current research on drug delivery and tissue engineering systems.This paper reviews the general properties of chitosan,various methods of modification,and applications of modified chitosan hydrogels.Tapan Kumar Giri Amrita Thakur Amit Alexander Ajazuddin Hemant Badwaik Dulal Krishna Tripathi 2012Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,5:7

11Integrating planar photonics for multi-beam generation and atomic clock packaging on chip显示文摘The commercialization of atomic technologies requires replacing laboratory-scale laser setups with compact and manufacturable optical platforms.Complex arrangements of free-space beams can be generated on chip through a combination of integrated photonics and metasurface optics.In this work,we combine these two technologies using flip-chip bonding and demonstrate an integrated optical architecture for realizing a compact strontium atomic clock.Our planar design includes twelve beams in two co-aligned magneto-optical traps.These beams are directed above the chip to intersect at a central location with diameters as large as 1 cm.Our design also includes two co-propagating beams at lattice and clock wavelengths.These beams emit collinearly and vertically to probe the center of the magneto-optical trap,where they will have diameters of≈100μm.With these devices we demonstrate that our integrated photonic platform is scalable to an arbitrary number of beams,each with different wavelengths,geometries,and polarizations.Chad Ropp Wenqi Zhu Alexander Yulaev Daron Westly Gregory Simelgor Akash Rakholia William Lunden Dan Sheredy Martin MBoyd Scott Papp Amit Agrawal Vladimir Aksyuk 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,4:0
12Machine learning approach for label-free rapid detection and identification of virus using Raman spectra显示文摘Objective:The objective of this study was to develop a robust method for rapid detection and identification of the virus based on Raman spectroscopy combined with machine learning approach.Methods:We have used saliva spiked with different bacterial viruses such as P1 Phage,M13 Phage,and Lambda Phage,for demonstrating the utility of this method for virus detection.The Raman spectra collected from a large number of independent samples,each of different phages with and without saliva were used to train a supervised convolutional neural network(CNN)with its hyperparameters optimized by Bayesian optimization.The CNN method was not only able to detect the presence of a phage but was also able to identify the phage type using unprocessed Raman spectra having high noise.In addition,a semi-supervised auto-encoder was utilized for differentiating healthy saliva from saliva spiked with phages thereby making it possible to detect the presence of phages in saliva samples.Results:The CNN could identify the virus with an accuracy of 98.86%based on ten-fold cross-validation,precision of 98.8%,recall of 98.7%,and F1 score of 98.7%.The area under the curve of receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.99.Autoencoder was capable of differentiating healthy saliva from the virus spiked saliva with an accuracy of 99.7%in a semi-supervised manner.Thus,Raman spectroscopy coupled with machine learning approach was able to directly detect and identify the virus without consuming time for lengthy sample processing.Conclusion:A robust method based on Raman spectroscopy coupled with machine learning may be capable of detection and identification of the virus even from the signal with low intensity and high noise.This label-free method is fast,sensitive,specific,and cost effective.Rajath Alexander Sheetal Uppal Anusree Dey Amit Kaushal Jyoti Prakash Kinshuk Dasgupta 2023Intelligent Medicine2023,3,1:0
