3Diagenetic fluids evolution and genetic mechanism of tight sandstone gas reservoirs in Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation in Sichuan Basin, China显示文摘The reservoirs of the Upper Triassic Xujiahe Formation in Sichuan Basin have the characteristics of low compositional maturity, low contents of cements and medium textural maturity. The general physical properties of the reservoirs are poor, with low porosity and low permeability, and there are only a few reservoirs with medium porosity and low permeability in local areas. Based on the diagenetic mineral association, a diagenetic sequence of cements is established: early calcites (or micrite siderites) →first quartz overgrowth→chlorite coatings→dissolution of feldspars and debris→chlorite linings→ second quartz overgrowth (quartz widen or filled in remain intergranular pores and solution pores)→dissolution→third quartz overgrowth (quartz filled in intergranular and intragranular solution pores)→intergrowth (ferro) calcites→dolomites→ferro (calcites) dolomites→later dissolution→veins of quartz and calcites formation. Mechanical compaction is the main factor in making the reservoirs tight in the basin, followed by the second and third quartz overgrowth. In a long-term closed system, only feld-spars and some lithic fragments are dissolved by diagenetic fluids, while intergranular cements such as quartz and calcit are not dissolved and thus have little influence on the porosity of the Xujiahe Formation. This is the third factor that may have kept the sandstones of Xujiahe Formation tight finally. 5Single-shot real-time femtosecond imaging of temporal focusing显示文摘While the concept of focusing usually applies to the spatial domain,it is equally applicable to the time domain.Realtime imaging of temporal focusing of single ultrashort laser pulses is of great significance in exploring the physics of the space–time duality and finding diverse applications.The drastic changes in the width and intensity of an ultrashort laser pulse during temporal focusing impose a requirement for femtosecond-level exposure to capture the instantaneous light patterns generated in this exquisite phenomenon.Thus far,established ultrafast imaging techniques either struggle to reach the desired exposure time or require repeatable measurements.We have developed single-shot 10-trillion-frame-per-second compressed ultrafast photography(T-CUP),which passively captures dynamic events with 100-fs frame intervals in a single camera exposure.The synergy between compressed sensing and the Radon transformation empowers T-CUP to significantly reduce the number of projections needed for reconstructing a high-quality three-dimensional spatiotemporal datacube.As the only currently available real-time,passive imaging modality with a femtosecond exposure time,T-CUP was used to record the first-ever movie of nonrepeatable temporal focusing of a single ultrashort laser pulse in a dynamic scattering medium.T-CUP’s unprecedented ability to clearly reveal the complex evolution in the shape,intensity,and width of a temporally focused pulse in a single measurement paves the way for single-shot characterization of ultrashort pulses,experimental investigation of nonlinear light-matter interactions,and real-time wavefront engineering for deep-tissue light focusing.Jinyang Liang Liren Zhu Lihong V.Wang 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:11
6Features and origin time of Mesozoic strike-slip structures in the Yilan-Yitong Fault Zone显示文摘The NE-striking Yilan-Yitong Fault Zone(YYFZ) with a length of ca. 900 km is an important major fault zone in northeastern China. Its origin has been a controversial issue for a long time. Detailed field investigation and comprehensive analyses show that strike-slip faults or ductile shear belts exist as the origination structures on the both shoulders of the Cretaceous-Paleogene grabens. These strike-slip structures are dominated by brittle transcurrent faults, and appear as ductile shear belts only in the Weiyuanpu-Yehe and Shulan parts in the south and middle of the fault zone, respectively. The shear belts strike NE-SW and show steep mylonitic foliation and gentle mineral elongation lineation. Outcrop structures, microstructures and quartz c-axis fabrics demonstrate a sinistral shear sense with minor reverse component for the ductile shear belts. The microstructures suggest deformation temperatures of 400–450°C for the Weiyuanpu-Yehe shear belts and 350–400°C for the Shulan shear belt. A series of zircon U-Pb dating results for deformed and undeformed plutons or dikes in the shear belts constrain the strike-slip motion to the time between 160 and 126 Ma. It is further inferred from ages of main geological events in this region that the fault zone originated in the earliest Early Cretaceous. It is suggested therefore that the southern and middle parts of the Tan-Lu Fault Zone, which originated in Middle Triassic, propagated into northeastern China along the sinistral YYFZ under the earliest Early Cretaceous regional compression that is referred to as the Yanshan B event. 7Assessing the dynamics of chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOM) in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea in autumn by EEMs-PARAFAC显示文摘In this study we have successfully characterized the fluorescent components of chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOM) in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea in autumn using excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy(EEMs) combined with parallel factor analysis(PARAFAC).PARAFAC aids the characterization of fluorescence CDOM by decomposing the fluorescence matrices into individual components.Four humic-like components(C1,C2,C3,and C4),one marine biological production component(C6),and two protein-like components(C5 and C7) were identified by PARAFAC.We researched the distributional patterns of fluorescence intensity,regression analyses between salinity,chlorophyll a concentration and fluorescence intensities of individual fluorophore,and regression analysis between salinity and fluorescence intensities percent of individual fluorophore.The results revealed that C2 and C4 showed conservative mixing behavior,while C1 and C3 possessed conservative mixing behavior in high salinity region and additional behavior in low and middle salinity region,which were considered to be derived from riverine and degradation of organic matter from resuspended and/or sinking particles and show non-conservative mixing behavior.In addition to riverine sources,the tryptophan-like C5 may receive widespread addition(likely from photo-degradation or biodegradation),while the most likely sources for the one marine humic-like C6 and tyrosine-like C7 were biological activity and microbial processing of plankton-derived CDOM,which were suggested to be of autochthonous origin and biologically labile.The application of EEM-PARAFAC modeling presents a unique opportunity to observe compositional changes,different mixing behavior and temporal variability in CDOM in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea.YAN LiHong SU RongGuo ZHANG ChuanSong SHI XiaoYong ZHU ChenJian 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,12:6

10Oligomeric proanthocyanidin protects retinal ganglion cells against oxidative stress-induced apoptosis显示文摘The death of retinal ganglion cells is a hallmark of many optic neurodegenerative diseases such as glaucoma and retinopathy.Oxidative stress is one of the major reasons to cause the cell death Oligomeric proanthocyanidin has many health beneficial effects including antioxidative and neuroprotective actions.Here we tested whether oligomeric proanthocyanidin may protect retina ganglion cells against oxidative stress induced-apoptosis in vitro.Retinal ganglion cells were treated with hydrogen peroxide with or without oligomeric proanthocyanidin3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay showed that treating retinal ganglion cell line RGC-5 cells with 20μmol/L oligomeric proanthocyanidin significantly decreased the hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)induced death.Results of flow cytometry and Hoechst staining demonstrated that the death of RGC-5 cells was mainly caused by cell apoptosis.We further found that expression of pro-apoptotic Bax and caspase-3 were significantly decreased while anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 was greatly increased in H2O2damaged RGC-5 cells with oligomeric proanthocyanidin by western blot assay.Furthermore,in retinal explant culture,the number of surviving retinal ganglion cells in H2O2-damaged retinal ganglion cells with oligomeric proanthocyanidin was significantly increased.Our studies thus demonstrate that oligomeric proanthocyanidin can protect oxidative stress-injured retinal ganglion cells by inhibiting apoptotic process.Hui Wang Chanjuan Zhang Dan Lu Xiaoming Shu Lihong Zhu Renbing Qi Kwok-Fai So Daxiang Lu Ying Xu 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,25:5

12Dissecting human embryonic skeletal stem cell ontogeny by single-cell transcriptomic and functional analyses显示文摘Human skeletal stem cells(SSCs)have been discovered in fetal and adult long bones.However,the spatiotemporal ontogeny of human embryonic SSCs during early skeletogenesis remains elusive.Here we map the transcriptional landscape of human limb buds and embryonic long bones at single-cell resolution to address this fundamental question.We found remarkable heterogeneity within human limb bud mesenchyme and epithelium,and aligned them along the proximal-distal and anterior-posterior axes using known marker genes.Osteo-chondrogenic progenitors first appeared in the core limb bud mesenchyme,which give rise to multiple populations of stem/progenitor cells in embryonic long bones undergoing endochondral ossification.Importantly,a perichondrial embryonic skeletal stem/progenitor cell(eSSPC)subset was identified,which could self-renew and generate the osteochondral lineage cells,but not adipocytes or hematopoietic stroma.eSSPCs are marked by the adhesion molecule CADM1 and highly enriched with FOXP1/2 transcriptional network.Interestingly,neural crest-derived cells with similar phenotypic markers and transcriptional networks were also found in the sagittal suture of human embryonic calvaria.Taken together,this study revealed the cellular heterogeneity and lineage hierarchy during human embryonic skeletogenesis,and identified distinct skeletal stem/progenitor cells that orchestrate endochondral and intramembranous ossification.Jian He Jing Yan Jianfang Wang Liangyu Zhao Qian Xin Yang Zeng Yuxi Sun Han Zhang Zhijie Bai Zongcheng Li Yanli Ni Yandong Gong Yunqiao Li Han He Zhilei Bian Yu Lan Chunyu Ma Lihong Bian Heng Zhu Bing Liu Rui Yue 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:5

14Room-temperature continuous-wave operation of GaN-based blue-violet laser diodes with a lifetime longer than 1000h显示文摘GaN-based continuous-wave operated blue-violet laser diodes(LDs) with long lifetime are demonstrated, which are grown on a c-plane GaN substrate by metal organic chemical vapor deposition with a 10 × 600 μm^2 ridge waveguide structure.The electrical and optical characteristics of a blue-violet LD are investigated under direct-current injection at room temperature(25 °C). The stimulated emission wavelength and peak optical power of the LD are around 413 nm and over 600 mW, respectively.In addition, the threshold current density and voltage are as small as 1.46 kA/cm^2 and 4.1 V, respectively. 15SNAIL1 is essential for female gametogenesis in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Two yeast Brix family members Ssf1 and Ssf2,involved in large ribosomal subunit synthesis, are essential for yeast cell viability and mating efficiency. Their putative homologs exist in the Arabidopsis genome; however, their role in plant development is unknown. Here, we show that Arabidopsis thaliana SNAIL1(At SNAIL1), a protein sharing high sequence identity with yeast Ssf1 and Ssf2, is critical to mitosis progression of female gametophyte development.The snail1 homozygous mutant was nonviable and its heterozygous mutant was semi-sterile with shorter siliques.The mutation in SNAIL1 led to absence of female transmission and reduced male transmission. Further phenotypic analysis showed that the synchronic development of female gametophyte in the snail1 heterozygous mutant was greatly impaired and the snail1 pollen tube growth, in vivo, was also compromised. 18Succinate dehydrogenase SDH1–1 positively regulates cotton resistance to Verticillium dahliae through a salicylic acid pathway显示文摘Background:Verticillium wilt,caused by the soil-borne fungus of Verticillium dahliae Kleb.,is one of the most devastating diseases of cotton.The complex mechanism underlying cotton resistance to Verticillium wilt remains uncharacterized.Identifying an endogenous resistance gene may be helpful to control this disease.Previous studies revealed that succinate dehydrogenase(SDH)is involved in reactive oxygen species(ROS)-induced stress signaling pathway that is likely to be triggered by salicylic acid(SA).Here,through the metabolomics and differential expression analyses in wilt-inoculated cotton(Gossypium hirsutum),we noticed that Gh SDH1–1 gene in cotton may play an important role in the resistance to V.dahlia.Then we reported Gh SDH1–1 gene and its functional analysis in relation to the resistance of cotton to V.dahliae.Results:The Gh SDH1–1 gene in cotton root was significantly up-regulated after V.dahlia inoculation,and its expression level peaked at 12 and 24 h post-infection.SA can also induce the up-regulation of Gh SDH1–1.Additionally,the functional analysis showed that Gh SDH1–1-silenced cotton was more susceptible to V.dahliae than the control because of the significant decrease in abundance of immune-related molecules and severe damage to the SA-signaling pathway.In Arabidopsis thaliana,high expression of Gh SDH1–1 conferred high resistance to V.dahliae.Arabidopsis that overexpressed Gh SDH1–1 had higher resistance to V.dahliae infection compared with the wild-type.Conclusions:Our findings provide new insights into the role of Gh SDH1–1;it positively regulates cotton resistance to Verticillium wilt.The regulatory mechanism of Gh SDH1–1 is closely related to SA-related signaling pathway.ZHANG Xiangyue FENG Zili ZHAO Lihong LIU Shichao WEI Feng SHI Yongqiang FENG Hongjie ZHU Heqin 2020Journal of Cotton Research2020,3,2:3
19Dietary ellagic acid ameliorated Clostridium perfringens-induced subclinical necrotic enteritis in broilers via regulating inflammation and cecal microbiota显示文摘Background: Subclinical necrotic enteritis(SNE), a common intestinal disease of broiler caused by Clostridium perfringens, could reduce production performance of broilers by chronic intestinal damage and poor absorption of nutrients. Ellagic acid(EA) has been reported to present antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties on human and animals in many aspects. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect and mechanism of EA in relieving SNE in broilers induced by C. perfringens.Results: C. perfringens challenge decreased body weight(BW), average daily gain(ADG), jejunal villi height/crypt depth(V/C) ratio, the activity of catalase(CAT) and the mRNA expression of zonula occludens 1(ZO-1) in jejunal mucosa of broilers. While feed conversion ratios(FCR), jejunal crypt depth(CD), the activities of myeloperoxidase(MPO) and diamine oxidase(DAO), as well as the concentrations of interleukin 6(IL-6), C-reactive protein(CRP) and procalcitonin(PCT) in serum, the activities of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) and lysozyme(LZM), the concentration of malondialdehyde(MDA), and the mRNA expressions of claudin-2, TNF-α, IL-1β, TLR-4, TLR-2, NF-κB,JAK3, STAT6 and iNOS in jejunal mucosa of broilers were increased by C. perfringens challenge. Dietary EA supplement relieved these adverse effects, and heightened jejunal villi height(VH), the concentration of D-xylose in plasma, activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD), and the mRNA expression of occludin in jejunal mucosa of broilers.The alpha diversity of cecal microbiota indicated that dietary EA supplement increased observed species and Shannon index. C. perfringens challenge increased the relative abundance of Firmicutes and decreased the relative abundance of Desulfobacterota in cecal microbiota. EA increased the relative abundance of Firmicutes in cecal microbiota.
