| 1 | Morphological, mechanical and thermal properties of cyanate ester/benzoxazine resin composites reinforced by silane treated natural hemp fibers显示文摘This present study deals with the reinforcement of thermosetting resin blends composed of cyanate ester(CE) and benzoxazine(BOZ) resins with natural hemp fibers(NHFs). These NHFs were initially treated by using a silane coupling agent(SCA) in order to chiefly enhance their distributions as well as adhesions within the CE/BOZ resin matrix,then incorporated with various weight amounts ranging from 5 wt% to 20 wt% with a regular interval of 5 wt%. The obtained results showed that at the maximum treated fiber loading(20 wt%), distinctive enhancements in the mechanical properties in terms of flexural strength and microhardness were obtained. Besides, the thermal stability and glass transition temperature(Tg) were appreciably enhanced and were higher than those of the pure CE/BOZ resin properties. With respect to the astonishing properties of the NHFs, these enhancements could be possibly due to the good dispersion and adhesion of the treated NHFs inside the CE/BOZ resin achieved upon using the SCA. | 2 | Surgical outcomes of hand-assisted laparoscopic liver resection vs. open liver resection: A retrospective propensity scorematched cohort study显示文摘Objective: Hand-assisted laparoscopic liver resection has the advantages of open and laparoscopic surgeries.There is still lack of comparison of surgical outcomes between hand-assistied laparoscopic liver resection(HALLR)and open liver resection(OLR). This study compared the surgical outcomes of the two approaches between wellmatched patient cohorts.Methods: Patients who received liver resection during January 2014 and October 2017 in Cancer Hospital,Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College were included in this retrospective study. Propensity score matching(PSM) was performed to reduce selection bias between the two groups. Operation and short-term surgical outcomes were compared between the well matched groups.Results: During this period, 232 patients with a median age of 55.1 years old received OLR, while 49 patients with a median age of 54.7 years old received HALLR. Compared with HALLR group, OLR group has a higher proportion in male patients(190/232, 81.9% vs. 34/49, 69.4%, P=0.048) and lower albumin(43.2±4.5 vs. 44.8±3.7,P=0.020). After PSM, 49 patients from each group were included in the following analysis. Two groups were well balanced in their baseline characteristics, liver functions, preoperative treatments, abdominal surgery history, and surgical difficulty. None perioperative mortality was observed in both groups. Operation time and postoperative complications were similar in two groups(P=0.935, P=0.056). The HALLR group showed less bleeding amount(177.8±217.1 mL vs. 283.1±225.0 mL, P=0.003) and shorter postoperative stay period(6.9±2.2 d vs. 9.0±3.5 d,P=0.001).Conclusions: We demonstrated that hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery is feasible and safe for liver resection,including some difficult cases. To study the biological and genetic mechanism of the mGluR7-related diseases, a physical map covering the full-length mGluR7 genomic sequence has been constructed through seed clone screening and fingerprinting database searching. These BAC clones in the physical map have been sequenced with shotgun strategy and assembled by Phred-Phrap-Consed software; the error rate of the final genoniic sequence is less than 0.01%. mGluR7 spans 880 kb genoniic region, the GC content and repeat content of mGluR7 genoniic sequence are 38% and 37.5% respectively. mGluR7 has a typical 'house-keeping' promoter and consists of 11 exons, with introns ranging from 6 kb to 285 kb. mGluR7a and mGluR7b are two known alternatively splicing variants. | 4 | Enhancement of oral bioavailability and anti-Parkinsonian efficacy of resveratrol through a nanocrystal formulation显示文摘Resveratrol(RES),a non-flavonoid polyphenol extracted from a wide variety of plants,exhibits neuroprotective activities against Parkinson’s disease(PD).However,undesirable water solubility of RES reduces its oral bioavailability and demonstrates lowefficacy in blood and brain,thus limiting its application.In present study,a nanocrystal formulation of RES(RES-NCs)was developed to enhance its oral bioavailability and delivery into brain for PD treatment.RES-NCs were fabricated with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC)stabilizer via antisolvent precipitation approach.The obtained RES-NCs displayed the particle size of 222.54±1.66 nm,the PDI of 0.125±0.035,the zeta potential of−9.41±0.37mV,and a rapid in vitro dissolution rate.Molecular dynamics simulation of RES and HPMC revealed an interaction energy of−68.09 kJ/mol and a binding energy of−30.98±0.388 kJ/mol,indicating that the spontaneous binding between the two molecules is through van der Waals forces.RES-NCs conferred enhanced cellular uptake as well as improved permeability relative to pure RES.In addition,RES-NCs were able to protect neurons against cytotoxicity induced by MPP+.Meanwhile,RES-NCs exerted no significant toxic effects on zebrafish embryos and larvae,and did not influence their survival and hatching rates.When orally administered to rats,RES-NCs exhibited more favorable pharmacokinetics than pure RES,with higher plasma and brain concentrations.More importantly,MPTP-induced PD mice showed notable improvements in behavior,attenuated dopamine deficiency,and elevated levels of dopamine and its metabolites after the treatment with RES-NCs.Furthermore,immunoblot analysis revealed that the neuroprotective role of RES-NCsmay be at least partially mediated by Akt/Gsk3βsignaling pathway.Taken altogether,RES-NCs can serve as a potential treatment modality for PD,offering means of improving RES oral bioavailability and brain accumulation. | Sha Xiong Wei Liu Yile Zhou Yousheng Mo Yao Liu Xiaojia Chen Huafeng Pan Dongsheng Yuan QiWang Tongkai Chen | 2020 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2020,15,4: | 3 |

| 7 | The role of intraoperative electron radiotherapy in centrally located hepatocellular carcinomas treated with narrow-margin (<1 cm) hepatectomy: a prospective, phase 2 study显示文摘Background: Postoperative radiotherapy (RT) is known to play an important role in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), but the specific role of intraoperative electron radiotherapy (IOERT) in HCCs remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of IOERT in centrally located HCCs treated with narrow-margin (<1 cm) hepatectomy. Methods: This was a single-center, phase 2, prospective non-randomized controlled study, including 268 patients with centrally located HCCs who underwent narrow-margin hepatectomy. The patients were subsequently allocated to the IOERT group (n=59) or to the control group (n=65). The primary outcome of the study was to compare recurrence-free survival (RFS) between the IOERT group and the control group, and the secondary outcome was to compare overall survival (OS) rate between the two groups. Results: Of 268 patients enrolled, a total of 124 were included in the study: 59 in IOERT group, 65 in control group. The 1-, 2-, 3-year RFS rates were 79.3%, 62.1% and 45.8% for patients in the IOERT group, and 47.6%, 28.6%, and 22.9% for patients in the control group, respectively (P=0.025). The 1-, 2-, and 3-year OS rates were 100.0%, 94.9%, and 83.7% for patients in the IOERT group, and 92.3%, 87.5%, and 79.4% for patients in the control group, respectively (P=0.314). Subgroup analysis of MVI (+) patients revealed that RFS and OS are significantly prolonged in the IOERT subgroup as compared to the control, whereas there was no significant difference of RFS and OS between the two groups in MVI (−) patients. Conclusions: IOERT for centrally located HCCs with concurrent narrow-margin hepatectomy was feasible and safe. Statistically better RFS rate was observed in the IOERT group compared to the control group. Subgroup analysis revealed that IOERT was more beneficial for postoperative survival of HCC patients with MVI. | 11 | Clinical characteristics and prognostic values of 1p32.3 deletion detected through fluorescence in situ hybridization in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma: a single-center study in China显示文摘This study aimed to investigate the prevalence,clinical characteristics,and prognostic impact of 1p32.3 deletion in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM).A retrospective analysis was conducted on 411 patients with newly diagnosed MM;among which,270 received bortezomib-based therapies,and 141 received thalidomide-based therapies.Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was performed to detect six cytogenetic abnormalities,namely,del(1p32.3),gain(1q21),del(17p13),del(13q14),t(4;14),and t(11;14).Results showed that 8.3% of patients with MM were detected with del(1p32.3) and had significantly more bone marrow plasma cells (P =0.025),higher β2-microglobulin levels (P =0.036),and higher lactate dehydrogenase levels (P =0.042) than those without del(1p32.3).Univariate analysis showed that patients with del(1p32.3) under thalidomide-based therapies were strongly associated with short progression-free survival (PFS) (median PFS 11.6 vs.31.2 months,P =0.002) and overall survival (OS) (median OS 16.8 vs.45.9 months,P < 0.001).Multivariate analysis revealed that del(1p32.3) remained a powerful independent factor with worse PFS (P =0.006) and OS (P =0.016) for patients under thalidomide-based treatments.Patients with del(1 p32.3) under bortezomib-based treatments tended to have short PFS and OS.In conclusion,del(1p32.3) is associated with short PFS and OS in patients with MM who received thalidomide-or bortezomib-based treatments. | Huanping Wang Haitao Meng Jinghan Wang Yinjun Lou Yile Zhou Peipei Lin Fenglin Li Lin Liu Huan Xu Min Yang Jie Jin | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,3: | 2 |
