| 1 | Understanding SARS-CoV-2-Mediated Inflammatory Responses: From Mechanisms to Potential Therapeutic Tools显示文摘Currently there is no effective antiviral therapy for SARS-CoV-2 infection, which frequently leads to fatal inflammatory responses and acute lung injury. Here, we discuss the various mechanisms of SARS-CoV-mediated inflammation. We also assume that SARS-CoV-2 likely shares similar inflammatory responses. Potential therapeutic tools to reduce SARS-CoV-2-induced inflammatory responses include various methods to block FcR activation. In the absence of a proven clinical FcR blocker, the use of intravenous immunoglobulin to block FcR activation may be a viable option for the urgent treatment of pulmonary inflammation to prevent severe lung injury. Such treatment may also be combined with systemic anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids. | 3 | Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with acute leukemia显示文摘Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the efficacy of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for acute leukemia (AL) and analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of these patients. Methods: The clinical and follow-up data of 93 AL patients (median age, 30 years) undergoing allogeneic HSCT in Xiangya Hospital over the past 12 years were collected, and the potential factors affecting the efficacy and prognosis of allogeneic HSCT patients were determined. Results: Hematopoietic reconstitution was achieved in 90 patients. At the last follow-up, the incidences of severe acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD) and extensive chronic GvHD (cGvHD) were 14.0% and 20.0%, the 3-year cumulative incidence of transplantation related mortality (TRM) and relapse rate were 16.8%±6.1% and 21.3%±6.7%, and the estimated 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of the patients were 64.6%±5.4% and 56.5%±5.5%, respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, and severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation were risk factors for severe aGvHD, age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation, and severe aGvHD were risk factors for TRM, high-risk AL and lack of cGvHD were risk factors for relapse (all P<0.05). Survival estimation showed that HLA mismatch, severe lung infection occurring within the first 100 days post-transplantation, high-risk AL severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were risk factors associated with poor prognosis (all P<0.05). Further multivariate analyses revealed that severe lung infection within the first 100 days post-transplantation, severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were independent risk factors for unfavorable outcomes (all P<0.05). | 8 | Study on the Accuracy of Different CASA Systems in the Quality Detection of Fresh Boar Semen显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to compare and analyze the accuracy of computer-aided sperm analysis(CASA)and manual method for detecting the quality of fresh boar semen at room temperature.[Methods]Statistical methods such as analysis of variance,ZB score and Z score were used to compare the accuracy of five different brands of CASA systems and manual method to detect the vitality and density of fresh boar semen at room temperature.[Results]After setting the parameters of five CASA systems the same as follows:VCL(curvilinear velocity),VSL(straight-line velocity)≥5μm/s,STR(straightness)=VSL(straight-line velocity)/VAP(average path velocity)≥25%,the sperm motility of six parts of boar semen was tested at normal temperature using different brands of special fixed-volume slides with a uniform chamber height[(20±2)μm].There were no significant differences in sperm vitality detected by the five CASA systems(P>0.05).The ZB scores of the vitality obtained by observers or instrument engineers who did not have a job certificate from the quality inspection department showed that the results of three observers or instrument engineers were unsatisfactory(∣ZB∣>3),but there were no significant differences in vitality between the CASA systems and the inspector with a job certificate(P>0.05).Regarding sperm density detection,when the sperm density was less than 280×106/ml,there were no significant differences between the results displayed by the instruments and the results of the manual hemocytometer counting(P>0.05).[Conclusions]The accuracy of the CASA systems set to uniform parameters was consistent with the accuracy of the visual vitality obtained by an inspector with a job certificate.When the semen was diluted with 3%NaCl solution to a sperm density<280×10^6/ml,the sperm density detected by the CASA systems was consistent in reliability with that obtained by the hemocytometer detection.The CASA systems are faster and more efficient and objective than manual detection,and have the advantages of strong operability and easy promotion. | Xuelin FU Hongjie YANG Yajing CHEN Xin XIA Manting WU Tingting WU Wanghong LIU | 2020 | Agricultural Biotechnology2020,9,6: | 1 |

| 10 | Efficient Processing of Skyline Group Queries over a Data Stream显示文摘In this paper, we study the skyline group problem over a data stream. An object can dominate another object if it is not worse than the other object on all attributes and is better than the other object on at least one attribute. If an object cannot be dominated by any other object, it is a skyline object. The skyline group problem involves finding k-item groups that cannot be dominated by any other k-item group. Existing algorithms designed to find skyline groups can only process static data. However, data changes as a stream with time in many applications,and algorithms should be designed to support skyline group queries on dynamic data. In this paper, we propose new algorithms to find skyline groups over a data stream. We use data structures, namely a hash table, dominance graph, and matrix, to store dominance information and update results incrementally. We conduct experiments on synthetic datasets to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms. | 11 | Photosynthetic Characteristics in Two Near Isogenic Lines of Winter Wheat显示文摘The development of near isogenic lines(NILs) is an important tool for physiological dissection of drought resistance in wheat. To better understand the potential for improving grain yield, a split-plot experiment was conducted under a mobile rain shelter using NILs of winter wheat with significant differences in the photosynthetic rate: the 908120 line with a high photosynthetic rate and the 908206 line with a low photosynthetic rate. The results indicated that the net photosynthesis rate(Pn), stomatal conductance, and transpiration rate in flag leaves in line 908120 were significantly higher than that in line 908206 under uniform water treatments during the reproductive phase in replicated pooled-culture trials. The maximum quantum yield Fv/Fm value and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase(RuBPCase) activity value were higher in line 908120 than that in line 908206, whereas the intercellular CO_2 and cell membrane permeability in line 908120 were lower than that in line 908206. Higher leaf Pn, transpiration rate, and RuBPCase activity and lower membrane ion leakage rate ensured the robustness of line 908120 during times of irrigation and drought, which contributed to the maintenance of its high grain yield. Drought had a negative effect on these factors, resulting in decreased yield, and the photosynthesis rate of flag leaves markedly affected the yield in NILs of winter wheat. NILs are an important strategy for wheat adaptation to drought stress, but might not be the only mechanism causing the significant grain yield increase. Collectively, the characteristics of line 908120 resulted in a higher grain yield compared with that of line 908206.
