1Photochemical pollution in Lanzhou, China - A case study显示文摘The photochemical air pollution in Xigu district of Lanshou city, Gansu Province was studied during a period of 1981-1984. The extremely high NMHC/NOx ratio and ozone level elevation after rain have been noticed. A series of outdoor and indoor reaction chamber simulation experiments conducted in order to understand the specific conditions. 2Identification and screening of nitrogenefficient cotton genotypes under low and normal nitrogen environments at the seedling stage显示文摘Background: Large quantities of nitrogen(N) fertilizer applied to cotton cropping systems support high yields but cause adverse environmental impacts such as N_20 emission and water eutrophication. The development of cotton cultivars with higher N use efficiencies suitable for low-N conditions is therefore important for sustainable production. In this study, we evaluated 100 cotton genotypes in 2016 for N use efficiency and related traits at the seedling stage.Methods: Sand culture experiment was conducted with low N levels(0.01 g·kg^(-1)) or normal N levels(0.1 g·kg^(-1)).We investigated plant height, SPAD value(soil plant analysis development chlorophyll meter), dry weight, N accumulation, N utilization efficiency, and N uptake efficiency. Through descriptive statistics, principal component analysis and heatmap clustering analysis, we confirmed the evaluation index system of N-efficient genotypes and the classification of N-efficient genotypes.Results: Significant differences were observed among N levels and genotypes for all agronomic traits and N levels.Coefficients of variation varied greatly and ranged from 6.7~28.8 and 7.4~20.8 under low-N and normal-N treatment, respectively. All traits showed highly significant positive correlations with each other, except SPAD value.The principal components under both N levels were similar, showing that total dry weight, aboveground dry weight, total N accumulation, and N uptake efficiency were important components. We confirmed these four traits as suitable screening indexes for low N tolerance. Based on the results of heatmap clustering and scatter diagram analysis of N efficiency value, 10 genotypes were found low-N tolerant, in which five varieties were inefficient under both low and normal N conditions, while four varieties were found efficient under low-N conditions but inefficient under normal-N conditions. Only one variety was efficient under both low and normal-N conditions. Meanwhile, 20 genotypes were identified as low-N sensitive ones, in which 19 genotypes were inefficient under low-N conditions but efficient under normal-N conditions, one variety was inefficient under both low and normal-N conditions.Conclusion: We preliminarily identified Kashi as a low-N tolerant and N-efficient cotton genotype, and CCRI 64 as a lowN sensitive and N-inefficient cotton genotype. 3Gas-water stratified flow patterns from electromagnetic tomography显示文摘Because of gravitational differentiation of multi-phase fluids,gas-water flow is usually stratified in highly inclined or horizontal gas wells.By using electrode arrays to scan flowing fluids, electromagnetic tomography can identify the flow patterns of mixed fluid from the different electrical properties of gas and water.The responses for different gas-water interface locations were calculated and then physical measurements were undertaken.We compared the results of the numerical simulation with the experimental data,and found that the response characteristics were consistent in the circumstances of uniform physical fields and stratified flows.By analyzing the signal characteristics,it is found that,with the change of the interface location,the response curves showed'steps'whose position and width were decided by the location of fluid interface.The measurement accuracy of this method depended on the vertical distance between adjacent electrodes.The results showed that computer simulation can simulate the measurement of the electromagnetic tomography accurately,so the physical experiment can be replaced.Wang Xiaoxing Wu Xiling 2009Petroleum Science2009,6,3:7
4Trends of Urban Air Pollution in Zhengzhou City in 1996-2008显示文摘Urban air pollution is a commonly concerned environmental problem in the world.Identification of air quality trend using long-term monitoring data is helpful to understand the effectiveness of pollution control strategies.This study,using data from six monitoring stations in Zhengzhou City,analyzed the changing trend in concentrations of SO 2,NO x /NO 2 and TSP/PM 10 in 1996-2008,based on non-parametric Mann-Kendall test and Sen's slope estimator,and evaluated the comprehensive air pollution level using Multi-Pollutant Index(MPI).It was found that the concentration of each pollutant exceeded obviously the World Health Organization(WHO) guideline value,but the changing trend varied:SO 2 and NO 2 were significantly increased mainly due to an increase in coal consumption and vehicle number,while NO x,TSP and PM 10 decreased.The air pollution was serious,and differed markedly among the three functional regions:it is the most severe in the Industrial and Residential Area(IRA),followed by the Transportation Hub and Business District(THBD),and then the High-tech,Cultural and Educational Area(HCEA).Different from NO 2 concentration that had a similar change trend/rate among the function regions,the change rate of PM 10 concentration differed spatially,decreased much more obviously in THBD than other two regions.For the whole city,the comprehensive air pollution level declined gradually,illustrating that the air quality in Zhengzhou was improved in the last decade.DU Xile LU Changhe WANG Hairong MA Jianhua 2012Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,4:6
5A Clustering-tree Topology Control Based on the Energy Forecast for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks显示文摘How to design an energy-efficient algorithm to maximize the network lifetime in complicated scenarios is a critical problem for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks(HWSN).In this paper, a clustering-tree topology control algorithm based on the energy forecast(CTEF) is proposed for saving energy and ensuring network load balancing, while considering the link quality, packet loss rate, etc. In CTEF, the average energy of the network is accurately predicted per round(the lifetime of the network is denoted by rounds) in terms of the difference between the ideal and actual average residual energy using central limit theorem and normal distribution mechanism, simultaneously. On this basis, cluster heads are selected by cost function(including the energy, link quality and packet loss rate) and their distance.The non-cluster heads are determined to join the cluster through the energy, distance and link quality. Furthermore, several noncluster heads in each cluster are chosen as the relay nodes for transmitting data through multi-hop communication to decrease the load of each cluster-head and prolong the lifetime of the network. The simulation results show the efficiency of CTEF. 6Screening and evaluation of reliable traits of upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)genotypes for salt tolerance at the seedling growth stage显示文摘Background:Salt stress significantly inhibits the growth,development,and productivity of cotton because of osmotic,ionic,and oxidative stresses.Therefore,the screening and development of salt tolerant cotton cultivars is a key issue towards sustainable agriculture.This study subjected 11 upland cotton genotypes at the seedling growth stage to five different salt concentrations and evaluated their salt tolerance and reliable traits.Results:Several morpho-physiological traits were measured after 10 days of salinity treatment and the salt tolerance performance varied significantly among the tested cotton genotypes.The optimal Na Cl concentration for the evaluation of salt tolerance was 200 mmol·L-1.Membership function value and salt tolerance index were used to identify the most consistent salt tolerance traits.Leaf relative water content and photosynthesis were identified as reliable indicators for salt tolerance at the seedling stage.All considered traits related to salt tolerance indices were significantly and positively correlated with each other except for malondialdehyde.Cluster heat map analysis based on the morpho-physiological salt tolerance-indices clearly discriminated the 11 cotton genotypes into three different salt tolerance clusters.Cluster I represented the salt-tolerant genotypes(Z9807,Z0228,and Z7526)whereas clusters II(Z0710,Z7514,Z1910,and Z7516)and III(Z0102,Z7780,Z9648,and Z9612)represented moderately salttolerant and salt-sensitive genotypes,respectively.Conclusions:A hydroponic screening system was established.Leaf relative water content and photosynthesis were identified as two reliable traits that adequately represented the salt tolerance of cotton genotypes at the seedling growth stage.Furthermore,three salt-tolerant genotypes were identified,which might be used as genetic resources for the salt-tolerance breeding of cotton.SIKDER Ripon Kumar WANG Xiangru JIN Dingsha ZHANG Hengheng GUI Huiping DONG Qiang PANG Nianchang ZHANG Xiling SONG Meizhen 2020Journal of Cotton Research2020,3,2:5
7Hierarchical Feature-Based Detection Method for SAR Targets Under Complex Environment显示文摘A reliable target detection method for Synthetic aperture radar(SAR)images is needed urgently with the wide application of SAR systems.The performance of conventional detection algorithms,such as Constant false alarm rate(CFAR),degrade significantly in low SCR or complex regions while the Human visual system(HVS)can identify targets of interest without knowing characteristics of the background even in complicated environment.The combination of HVS with the SAR-ATR system may effectively achieve real-time multi-target detection in complex occlusion scenes.A new effective target detection algorithm is put forward using hierarchical characteristics of targets.Inspired by different roles of the retina and visual cortex in the HVS,this detection algorithm is divided into coarse detection and fine detection stage.Two kinds of features based on the correlation between target features and suspicious targets,namely overall feature and refined feature,are used in these two stages respectively to extract real targets.Experimental results verify its correctness and effectiveness in complex environment.GAO Fei MA Fei LUO Xiling WANG Jun SUN Jinping 2017Chinese Journal of Electronics2017,26,3:4
8Severe human infection with a novel avian-origin influenza A(H7N4) virus显示文摘Human infections with influenza H7 subtypes, such as H7N9, have raised concerns worldwide. Here, we report a human infection with a novel influenza A(H7N4) virus. A 68 years-old woman with cardiovascular and cholecystic comorbidities developed rapidly progressed pneumonia with influenza-like-illness as initial symptom, recovered after 23 days-hospitalization including 8 days in ICU. Laboratory indicators for liver and blood coagulation dysfunction were observed. Oseltamivir phosphate, glucocorticoids and antibiotics were jointly implemented, with nasal catheterization of oxygen inhalation for this patient.We obtained the medical records and collected serial respiratory and blood specimens from her. We collected throat, cloacal and/or feces samples of poultry and wild birds from the patient's backyard, neighborhood, local live poultry markets(LPMs) and the nearest lake. All close contacts of the patient were followed up and sampled with throat swabs and sera. Influenza viruses and other respiratory pathogens were tested by real-time RT-PCR, viral culturing and/or sequencing for human respiratory and bird samples. Micro-neutralizing assay was performed for sera. A novel reassortant wild bird-origin H7N4 virus is identified from the patient and her backyard poultry(chickens and ducks) by sequencing, which is distinct from previously-reported avian H7N4 and H7N9 viruses. At least four folds increase of neutralizing antibodies to H7N4 was detected in her convalescent sera. 14Chromosome-level Genomes Reveal the Genetic Basis of Descending Dysploidy and Sex Determination in Morus Plants显示文摘Multiple plant lineages have independently evolved sex chromosomes and variable karyotypes to maintain their sessile lifestyles through constant biological innovation.Morus notabilis,a dioecious mulberry species,has the fewest chromosomes among Morus spp.,but the genetic basis of sex determination and karyotype evolution in this species has not been identified.In this study,three high-quality genome assemblies were generated for Morus spp.[including dioecious M.notabilis(male and female)and Morus yunnanensis(female)]with genome sizes of 301–329 Mb and were grouped into six pseudochromosomes.Using a combination of genomic approaches,we found that the putative ancestral karyotype of Morus species was close to 14 protochromosomes,and that several chromosome fusion events resulted in descending dysploidy(2n=2x=12).We also characterized a~6.2-Mb sex-determining region on chromosome 3.Four potential male-specific genes,a partially duplicated DNA helicase gene(named MSDH)and three Ty3_Gypsy long terminal repeat retrotransposons(named MSTG1/2/3),were identified in the Y-linked area and considered to be strong candidate genes for sex determination or differentiation.Population genomic analysis showed that Guangdong accessions in China were genetically similar to Japanese accessions of mulberry.In addition,genomic areas containing selective sweeps that distinguish domesticated mulberry from wild populations in terms of flowering and disease resistance were identified.Our study provides an important genetic resource for sex identification research and molecular breeding in mulberry.Zhongqiang Xia Xuelei Dai Wei Fan Changying Liu Meirong Zhang Peipei Bian Yuping Zhou Liang Li Baozhong Zhu Shuman Liu Zhengang Li Xiling Wang Maode Yu Zhonghuai Xiang Yu Jiang Aichun Zhao 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,6:1

16Effect of Panaxtriol Saponins on synaptophysin and postsynaptic density-95 expression at different periods of cerebral infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND:The change in expression of synaptophysin (Syp) and postsynaptic density-95 (PSD-95) alters after cerebral infarction,and the plasticity of synapses contributes greatly to nerve function recovery. Chinese medicinal substances may play an important role in the expression of Syp and PSD-95. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Panaxtriol Saponins (PTS),an active component in Sanqi tongshu capsules,on the expression of Syp and PSD-95 after cerebral infarction at different time points in rats,so as to examine the cerebral function remodeling mechanism. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING: A randomized and controlled observation which was performed in Dongzhimen Hospital,Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January to March,2007. MATERIALS: Twenty-six healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were used to establish middle cerebral artery occlusion based on the Longa method. Sanqi tongshu capsules (containing 100 mg PTS per tablet) were provided by the Chengdu Huashen Group and nimodipine tablets (30 mg) by Tianjin Zhongyang Pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd. METHODS: Twenty-six rats were randomly divided into an operation group (n=21) and a control group (n=5). The operation group underwent the EZ Longa procedure to make the middle cerebral artery occlusion model. After surgery rats were randomly divided into a model group,a PTS group and a nimodipine group,with seven rats in each group. Rats were intragastrically administrated with saline (2 mL/d) in the model group,with Sanqi tongshu capsule (5.4 mg/100 g/d) in the PTS group,and with nimodipine (1.73 mg/100 g/d) in the nimodipine group. Rats in the control group did not undergo model establishment and drug administration. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The expressions of Syp and PSD-95 were measured by immunohistochemical and image analysis at days 3,7 and 28 after the operation. RESULTS: The expression of Syp and PSD-95 in the operation group was significantly lower than in the control group at days 3,7,28 postoperatively (P<0.05). The expression of Syp and PSD-95 in the PTS group and nimodipine group was significantly higher than in the model group at day 28 postoperatively (P< 0.05-0.01). Additionally,after PTS and nimodipine treatment at different intervals,the expression of Syp and PSD-95 at day 28 postoperatively was significantly higher than those at days 3 and 7 postoperatively,respectively (P<0.01). 20Chromosome-level genome assemblies of five Prunus species and genome-wide association studies for key agronomic traits in peach显示文摘Prunus species include many important perennial fruit crops,such as peach,plum,apricot,and related wild species.Here,we report de novo genome assemblies for five species,including the cultivated species peach(Prunus persica),plum(Prunus salicina),and apricot(Prunus armeniaca),and the wild peach species Tibetan peach(Prunus mira)and Chinese wild peach(Prunus davidiana).The genomes ranged from 240 to 276 Mb in size,with contig N50 values of 2.27−8.30Mb and 25,333−27,826 protein-coding gene models.As the phylogenetic tree shows,plum diverged from its common ancestor with peach,wild peach species,and apricot~7 million years ago(MYA).We analyzed whole-genome resequencing data of 417 peach accessions,called 3,749,618 high-quality SNPs,577,154 small indels,31,800 deletions,duplications,and inversions,and 32,338 insertions,and performed a structural variant-based genome-wide association study(GWAS)of key agricultural traits.From our GWAS data,we identified a locus associated with a fruit shape corresponding to the OVATE transcription factor,where a large inversion event correlates with higher OVATE expression in flat-shaped accessions.Furthermore,a GWAS revealed a NAC transcription factor associated with fruit developmental timing that is linked to a tandem repeat variant and elevated NAC expression in early-ripening accessions.We also identified a locus encoding microRNA172d,where insertion of a transposable element into its promoter was found in double-flower accessions.Thus,our efforts have suggested roles for OVATE,a NAC transcription factor,and microRNA172d in fruit shape,fruit development period,and floral morphology,respectively,that can be connected to traits in other crops,thereby demonstrating the importance of parallel evolution in the diversification of several commercially important domesticated species.In general,these genomic resources will facilitate functional genomics,evolutionary research,and agronomic improvement of these five and other Prunus species.We believe that structural variant-based GWASs can also be used in other plants,animal species,and humans and be combined with deep sequencing GWASs to precisely identify candidate genes and genetic architecture components.Qiuping Tan Sen Li Yuzheng Zhang Min Chen Binbin Wen Shan Jiang Xiude Chen Xiling Fu Dongmei Li Hongyu Wu Yong Wang Wei Xiao Ling Li 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:1
