| 1 | Remediation of saline–sodic soil with flue gas desulfurization gypsum in a reclaimed tidal flat of southeast China显示文摘Salinization and sodicity are obstacles for vegetation reconstruction of coastal tidal flat soils. A study was conducted with flue gas desulfurization(FGD)-gypsum applied at rates of 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 Mg/ha to remediate tidal flat soils of the Yangtze River estuary.Exchangeable sodium percentage(ESP), exchangeable sodium(ExNa), p H, soluble salt concentration, and composition of soluble salts were measured in 10 cm increments from the surface to 30 cm depth after 6 and 18 months. The results indicated that the effect of FGD-gypsum is greatest in the 0–10 cm mixing soil layer and 60 Mg/ha was the optimal rate that can reduce the ESP to below 6% and decrease soil p H to neutral(7.0). The improvement effect was reached after 6 months, and remained after 18 months. The composition of soluble salts was transformed from sodic salt ions mainly containing Na^+, HCO_3^-+ CO_3^(2-)and Cl-to neutral salt ions mainly containing Ca^(2+)and SO_4^(2-). Non-halophyte plants were survived at 90%. | 2 | Restorative Effects of Zinc and Selenium on Cadmium-induced Kidney Oxidative Damage in Rats显示文摘Objective To investigate whether cadmium-induced oxidative stress in the kidney isinfluenced by zinc and selenium. Methods Five groups of rats were maintained: (A) Cd (CdCl2,400 mg·kg-1·day-1 intraperitoneal injection); (B) Cd+Zn (ZnCl2, 20mg. kg-1·day-1 hypodermicinjection); (C) Cd+Se (Na2SeO3, 350 mg·kg-1·day-1 via a stomach tube); (D) Cd+Zn+Se; (E)treated with physiological saline as a sham-handled control. The rats were given treatmentfor a period of 4 weeks. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase(GH-Px), catalase (CAT), and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the kidney tissue weremeasured to assess the oxidative stress. Urinary lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity wasused as an indicator of tubular cell damage caused by lipid peroxidation. Results In groupC and D, activities of SOD (110.5±5.2, 126.8±7.0; P < 0.05) and GSH-Px (85.7±4.9,94.6±7.3; P < 0. 05) were higher than those in group A(84.7±3.3; 56.9±3.8); and in groupB, only the activity of GSH-Px (80.0±4.3, P < 0.01) increased in comparison with that ingroup A (56.9±3.8). Significant increase of MDA (P < 0.05) was seen in group B (31.1±4.7) andC (35.0±4.1) when compared with control values (17.2±1.8). No difference was found inthe level of MDA between group D (18.9±2.6) and control. The activity of LDH in urineof control group (0.06±0.02) was lower than that of group A (0.46±0.19, P<0.05), B (0.10±0.05, P<0.05) and C (0.14±0.07, P<0.05), and there was no significant change betweencontrol (0.06±0.02) and group D (0.08±0.02). | 3 | Transcriptional control by HNF-1:Emerging evidence showing its role in lipid metabolism and lipid metabolism disorders显示文摘The present review focuses on the roles and underlying mechanisms of action of hepatic nuclear factor-1(HNF-1)in lipid metabolism and the development of lipid metabolism disorders.HNF-1 is a transcriptional regulator that can form homodimers,and the HNF-1αand HNF-1βisomers can form heterodimers.Both homo-and heterodimers recognize and bind to specific cis-acting elements in gene promoters to transactivate transcription and to coordinate the expression of target lipid-related genes,thereby influencing the homeostasis of lipid metabolism.HNF-1 was shown to restrain lipid anabolism,including synthesis,absorption,and storage,by inhibiting the expression of lipogenesis-related genes,such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγ(PPARγ)and sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1/2(SREBP-1/2).Moreover,HNF-1 enhances the expression of various genes,such as proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9(PCSK9),glutathione peroxidase 1(GPx1),and suppressor of cytokine signaling-3(SOCS-3)and negatively regulates signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT)to facilitate lipid catabolism in hepatocytes.HNF-1 reduces hepatocellular lipid decomposition,which alleviates the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).HNF-1 impairs preadipocyte differentiation to reduce the number of adipocytes,stunting the development of obesity.Furthermore,HNF-1 reduces free cholesterol levels in the plasma to inhibit aortic lipid deposition and lipid plaque formation,relieving dyslipidemia and preventing the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD).In summary,HNF-1 transcriptionally regulates lipid-related genes to manipulate intracorporeal balance of lipid metabolism and to suppress the development of lipid metabolism disorders. | Fang Liu Xiao Zhu Xiaping Jiang Shan Li Yuncheng Lv | 2022 | Genes & Diseases2022,9,5: | 3 |
| 4 | Structure and magneto-electrical properties of Fe-C films prepared by magnetron sputtering显示文摘Fe-doped amorphous Fe x C 1 x granular films were prepared on n-Si(100) substrates by d.c.magnetron sputtering.The structural properties of Fe x C 1 x films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),atomic force microscope(AFM) and Raman spectroscopy.The results show that the iron and carbon of as-deposited films are in amorphous state,and the Fe x C 1 x films are diamond-like carbon(DLC) films.After doping iron into the DLC films,a smooth surface morphology of the Fe x C 1 x films has been obtained with the surface roughness Ra of about 0.231 nm for x=18at%.The Fe x C 1 x films have good soft magnetic properties with the coercivity of approximately 20 Oe.A high positive magnetoresistance(MR) up to 93% with x=1at% was observed in a Fe x C 1 x granular film at 300 K.The resistance characteristic of Fe-C films is changed at about 230 K and the positive MR effect can be understood by the p-n heterojunction theory. | MA Lei LIU ZhongWu ZENG DeChang YU HongYa ZHONG XiaPing ZHANG XiaoZhong | 2012 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,9: | 3 |
