| 1 | Analysis of status and countermeasures of cancer incidence and mortality in China显示文摘Cancer is the leading cause of human deaths in the world and produces serious economic burdens. On September 12, 2018, the academic journal A Cancer Journal for Clinicians published an article about the latest statistics of cancers worldwide, which provided a status report on the global burden of 36 cancers in 185 countries worldwide. Cancer has also become a serious public health problem in China and caused more and more attention of the government and people in recent years. | 3 | Three-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model for TMDL development of Lake Fuxian,China显示文摘Lake Fuxian is the largest deep freshwater lake in China.Although its average water quality meets Class I of the China National Water Quality Standard(CNWQS),i.e.,GB3838-2002,monitoring data indicate that the water quality approaches the Class II threshold in some areas.Thus it is urgent to reduce the watershed load through the total maximum daily load(TMDL) program.A three-dimensional hydrodynamic and water quality model was developed for Lake Fuxian,simulating flow circulation and pollutant fate and transport.The model development process consists of several steps,including grid generation,initial and boundary condition configurations,and model calibration processes.The model accurately reproduced the observed water surface elevation,spatiotemporal variations in temperature,and total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),and chemical oxygen demand(COD) concentrations,suggesting a reasonable numerical representation of the prototype system for further TMDL analyses.The TMDL was calculated using two interpretations of the water quality standards for Class I of the CNWQS based on the maximum instantaneous surface and annual average surface water concentrations.Analysis of the first scenario indicated that the TN,TP and COD loads should be reduced by 66%,68% and 57%,respectively.Water quality was the highest priority;however,local economic development and cost feasibility for load reduction can pose significant issues.In the second interpretation,the model results showed that,under the existing conditions,the average water quality meets the Class I standard and therefore load reduction is unnecessary.Future studies are needed to conduct risk and cost assessments for realistic decision-making. | Lei Zhao Xiaoling Zhang Yong Liu Bin He Xiang Zhu Rui Zou Yuanguan Zhu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,8: | 25 |

| 7 | Arginine, N-carbamylglutamate,and glutamine exert protective effects against oxidative stress in rat intestine显示文摘The objective of the current study is to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with arginine(ARG), N-carbamylglutamate(NCG), and glutamine(GLN) on rat intestinal morphology and antioxidant status under oxidative stress. Rats were fed for 30 d with one of the following iso-nitrogenous diets:basal diet(BD), BD plus 1% ARG, BD plus 0.1% NCG, and BD plus 1% GLN. On day 28, half of the rats fed BD were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of diquat(DT; i.e., the DT group) and the other half was intraperitoneally injected with sterile solution(i,e., the control group). The other diet groups were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of DT(i,e., DT + 1% GLN [DT + GLN],DT + 1% ARG [DT + ARG], and DT + 0.1% NCG [DT + NCG]). Rat jejunum samples obtained at 48 h after DT injection were analyzed. Results showed that DT significantly decreased catalase(CAT) activity and glutathione(GSH) content by 58.25% and 56.57%, respectively, and elevated malondialdehyde(MDA)content and crypt depth(CD) by 19.39% and 22.13%, respectively, in the jejunum(P < 0.05, relative to the control group). Compared with the DT group, the DT + GLN group exhibited significantly improved villus height(VH), villus width(VW), villus surface area(VSA), CD and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC) activity(P < 0.05); the DT + ARG group exhibited significantly increased the ratio of VH to CD(H:D) and TAOC activity(P < 0.05); the DT + GLN, DT + ARG and DT + NCG groups exhibited significantly enhanced CAT activity and GSH content as well as decreased MDA content(P < 0.05). Moreover, VH, VW, VSA, CD and GSH content in the DT + GLN group were higher whereas MDA content was lower compared with the corresponding values observed in both the DT + ARG and the DT + NCG groups(P < 0.05). The H:D ratio in the DT + ARG group significantly increased compared with that in the DT + NCG and DT + GLN groups(P < 0.05). | 8 | Enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution along with byproducts suppressing over Z-scheme CdxZn1-xS/Au/g-C3N4 photocatalysts under visible light显示文摘Inspired by natural photosynthesis, a new series of Z-scheme Cd_xZn_(1-x)S/Au/g-C_3N_4 photocatalysts were synthesized via depositing Au particles on g-C_3N_4, followed by anchoring CdxZn_(1-x)S solid solution on the pre-formed Au/g-C_3N_4 for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Their structure, morphology and optical property were investigated in detail. Photocatalytic activities of the developed photocatalysts for water splitting were evaluated under visible-light irradiation(k > 420 nm) using glucose as electron donor.The highest hydrogen evolution rate of 123 lmol g^(-1)h^(-1)is achieved by Cd_(0.8Z)n_(0.2)S/Au/g-C_3N_4, which is 52.2 and 8.63 times higher than that of Au/g-C_3N_4 and Cd S/Au/g-C_3N_4, respectively. The results of photoluminescence spectra, photoelectrochemical and time-resolved photoluminescence spectra indicate that the improved photocatalytic activities for Cd_xZn_(1-x)S/Au/g-C_3N_4 are due to the efficient separation of photogenerated carriers. In addition, it is noteworthy that the undesired byproducts CO and CO_2 are greatly reduced by introducing CdxZn_(1-x)S over Au/g-C_3N_4 surface. In the photocatalytic process, gluconic acid originated from the reaction of photogenerated hydroxyl radical with glucose plays a vital role on suppressing the formation of the gas byproducts. | 13 | Roles of dietary supplementation with arginine or N-carbamylglutamate in modulating the inflammation, antioxidant property, and m RNA expression of antioxidant-relative signaling molecules in the spleen of rats under oxidative stress显示文摘This study evaluated the effects of arginine(Arg) or N-carbamylglutamate(NCG) on inflammation, antioxidant property, and antioxidant-related gene expression in rat spleen under oxidative stress. A total of 52 rats were randomly distributed into 4 treatment groups with 13 replicates per group. Rats were fed a basal diet(BD) or BD supplemented with Arg or NCG for 30 days. On day 28, half of the BD-fed rats were intraperitoneally injected with sterile saline(control group), and the other half with 12 mg/kg body weight of diquat(DT; DT group). The other 2 diet groups were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of DT with either Arg(1%)(DT t Arg) or NCG(0.1%)(DT t NCG). Rat spleen samples were collected for analysis at 48 h after DT injection. Results showed that DT damaged the antioxidant defense in rats compared with the control group(P < 0.05). Compared with the DT group, the DT t Arg and DT t NCG groups manifested improved anti-hydroxyl radical, catalase, and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD) activities, increased glutathione content(P < 0.05), and decreased malondialdehyde content(P < 0.05).Moreover, compared with the DT group, the DT t Arg and DT t NCG groups enhanced mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase(SOD), glutathione peroxidase 1(GPx1), glutathione reductase(GR), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2), Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap-1), and mammalian target of rapamycin(m TOR)(P < 0.05). Both NCG and Arg significantly increased anti-inflammatory cytokine mRNA level but suppressed the pro-inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression under oxidative stress(P < 0.05). In summary, NCG and Arg effectively alleviated oxidative stress, improved the antioxidant capacity and regulated the antioxidant-related signaling molecular expression in rat spleen. | 14 | Micro-Channel Heat Sink:A Review显示文摘The method to cool a high heat flux device is an important research direction for the heat exchanger design.Micro-channels are an eflfective heat exchange structure both for single-phase and two-phase flow.In this paper,the heat transfer correlations of single-phase,two-phase and nanofluid in a micro-channel are discussed and analyzed.The correlations of pressure drop for single-phase and two-phase fluids are also presented.Excluding the different working fluids used in the micro-channel,the diameter and aspect ratio,shape and structure,surface roughness,internal and external factor and layout of micro-channel pipe are considered to analyze their influence on the heat transfer performance and pressure drop.Micro-channel technology applications include industry,air-conditioning,solar energy systems,heat pipe technology and computer data center cooling.Compared to the conventional heat exchangers used in these fields,a micro-channel heat sink showed a much better heat transfer coefficient and low volume,indicating that it is a good choice and has huge potential for cooling application.Finally,existing problems and future scopes are described,and drawing up design standard,experimental and simulated methods for evaluating its performance are the urgent actions which need to be carried out.This review paper serves as guidance for researchers to design and predict the performance of micro-channel heat sinks. | ZHOU Jinzhi CAO Xiaoling ZHANG Nan YUAN Yanping ZHAO Xudong HARDY David | 2020 | Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,6: | 9 |

| 16 | Actively priming autophagic cell death with novel transferrin receptor-targeted nanomedicine for synergistic chemotherapy against breast cancer显示文摘Recently, considerable attention in the field of cancer therapy has been focused on the mammalian rapamycin target(m TOR), inhibition of which could result in autophagic cell death(ACD). Though novel combination chemotherapy of autophagy inducers with chemotherapeutic agents is extensively investigated, nanomedicine-based combination therapy for ACD remains in infancy. In attempt to actively trigger ACD for synergistic chemotherapy, here we incorporated autophagy inducer rapamycin(RAP) into 7 pep-modified PEG-DSPE polymer micelles(7 pep-M-RAP) to specifically target and efficiently priming ACD of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells with high expression of transferrin receptor(Tf R). Cytotoxic paclitaxel(PTX)-loaded micelle(7 pep-M-PTX) was regarded as chemotherapeutic drug model. We discovered that with superior intracellular uptake in vitro and more tumor accumulation of micelles in vivo, 7 pep-M-RAP exhibited excellent autophagy induction and synergistic antitumor efficacy with 7 pep-M-PTX. Mechanism study further revealed that 7 pep-M-RAP and 7 pep-MPTX used in combination provided enhanced efficacy through induction of both apoptosis-and mitochondria-associated autophagic cell death. | 19 | A green method to synthesize flowerlike Fe(OH)3 microspheres for enhanced adsorption performance toward organic and heavy metal pollutants显示文摘Dyestuffs and heavy metal ions in water are seriously harmful to the ecological environment and human health.Three-dimensional(3 D) flowerlike Fe(OH)_3 microspheres were synthesized through a green yet low-cost injection method,for the removal of organic dyes and heavy metal ions.The Fe(OH)_3 microspheres were characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) techniques.The adsorption kinetics of Congo Red(CR) on Fe(OH)_3 microspheres obeyed the pseudo-second-order model.Cr^(6+) and Pb^(2+) adsorption behaviors on Fe(OH)_3 microspheres followed the Langmuir isotherm model.The maximum adsorption capacities of the synthesized Fe(OH)_3 were 308,52.94,and 75.64 mg/g for CR,Cr^(6+),and Pb^(2+) respectively.The enhanced adsorption performance originated from its surface properties and large specific surface area of 250 m^2/g.The microspheres also have excellent adsorption stability and recyclability.Another merit of the Fe(OH)_3 material is that it also acts as a Fenton-like catalyst.These twin functionalities(both as adsorbent and Fenton-like catalyst) give the synthesized Fe(OH)_3 microspheres great potential in the field of water treatment. | Xiaole Zhao Yingehun Su Shubin Li Yajun Bi Xiaojun Han | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,11: | 7 |
