1Epidemiology of lung cancer and approaches for its prediction:a systematic review and analysis显示文摘Background: Owing to the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcohol and adulterated food, worldwide cancer incidence is increasing at an alarming and frightening rate. Since the last decade of the twentieth century, lung cancer has been the most common cancer type. This study aimed to determine the global status of lung cancer and to evaluate the use of computational methods in the early detection of lung cancer.Methods: We used lung cancer data from the United Kingdom(UK), the United States(US), India, and Egypt. For statistical analysis, we used incidence and mortality as well as survival rates to better understand the critical state of lung cancer.Results: In the UK and the US, we found a significant decrease in lung cancer mortalities in the period of 1990–2014, whereas, in India and Egypt, such a decrease was not much promising. Additionally, we observed that, in the UK and the US, the survival rates of women with lung cancer were higher than those of men. We observed that the data mining and evolutionary algorithms were efficient in lung cancer detection.Conclusions: Our findings provide an inclusive understanding of the incidences, mortalities, and survival rates of lung cancer in the UK, the US, India, and Egypt. 4Identification of EST–SSRs and molecular diversity analysis in Mentha piperita显示文摘EST sequences of Mentha piperita available in the public domain(NCBI) were exploited to develop SSR markers. A total of 1316 ESTs were assembled into 155 contigs and 653 singletons and of these, 110 sequences were found to contain 130 SSRs, with a frequency of1 SSR/3.4 kb. Dinucleotide repeat SSRs were most frequent(72.3%) with the AG/CT(43.8%)repeat motif followed by AT/AT(16.2%). Primers were successfully designed for 68SSR-containing sequences(62.0%). The 68 primers amplified 13 accessions of M. piperita and 54 produced clear amplicons of the expected size. Of these 54, 33(61%) were found to be polymorphic among M. piperita accessions, showing from 2 to 4 alleles with an average of2.33 alleles/SSR, and the polymorphic information content(PIC) value varied between 0.13 and 0.51(average 0.25). All the amplified SSRs showed transferability among four different species of Mentha, with a highest in Mentha arvensis(87.0%) and minimum in Mentha citrata(37.0%). 5Risk assessment framework for power control systems with PMU-based intrusion response system显示文摘Cyber threats are serious concerns for power systems.For example,hackers may attack power control systems via interconnected enterprise networks.This paper proposes a risk assessment framework to enhance the resilience of power systems against cyber attacks.The duality element relative fuzzy evaluation method is employed to evaluate identified security vulnerabilities within cyber systems of power systems quantitatively.The attack graph is used to identify possible intrusion scenarios that exploit multiple vulnerabilities.An intrusion response system(IRS)is developed to monitor the impact of intrusion scenarios on power system dynamics in real time.IRS calculates the conditional Lyapunov exponents(CLEs)on line based on the phasor measurement unit data.Power system stability is predicted through the values of CLEs.Control actions based on CLEs will be suggested if power system instability is likely to happen.A generic wind farm control system is used for case study.The effectiveness of IRS is illustrated with the IEEE 39 bus system model.Jie YAN Manimaran GOVINDARASU Chen-Ching LIU Ming NI Umesh VAIDYA 2015Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2015,3,3:12
6Autochthonous halotolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria promote bacoside A yield of Bacopa monnieri(L.)Nash and phytoextraction of salt-affected soil显示文摘Phytoremediation is a promising approach for reclamation of salt-affected soil.Phytoextraction is the most commonly used process,which exploits plants to absorb,immobilize,and accumulate salt in their shoots.In this study,halotolerant plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)were isolated from the rhizosphere of wild grasses growing naturally in salt-affected areas of Lucknow,Uttar Pradesh(India)and were tested for their efficacies of salt-tolerance and plant growth-promoting(PGP)abilities.Based on 16S rRNA sequences,the most efficient halotolerant isolates possessing PGP traits were identified as Pseudomonas plecoglossicida(KM 233646),Acinetobacter calcoaceticus(KM 233647),Bacillus flexus(KM 233648),and Bacillus safensis(KM 233652).Application of these isolates as bio-inoculants significantly(P<0.05)increased the growth and bacoside A yield of a medicinal plant,Bacopa monnieri(L.)Nash,grown on natural salt-affected soil.The phytoremediation of salt-affected soil was evident by the substantial increase in shoot Na^+:K^+ratio of bio-inoculant-treated plants.When compared to un-inoculated control plants,the soil physico-chemical properties of bio-inoculant-treated plants were improved.The shoot and root biomass(fresh and dry weights),soil enzymes,and soil nutrient parameters showed significant positive correlations with the shoot Na+:K+ratio.Consequently,the halotolerant PGPR screened in this study could be useful for the reclamation of saline soils concomitant with improved plant growth and bacoside A yield.Umesh PANKAJ Durgesh Narain SINGH Pooja MISHRA Pooja GAUR C.S.Vivek BABU Karuna SHANKER Rajesh Kumar VERMA 2020Pedosphere2020,30,5:9

8The USDA cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) collection: genetic diversity, population structure, genome-wide association studies, and core collection development显示文摘Germplasm collections are a crucial resource to conserve natural genetic diversity and provide a source of novel traits essential for sustained crop improvement.Optimal collection,preservation and utilization of these materials depends upon knowledge of the genetic variation present within the collection.Here we use the high-throughput genotyping-by-sequencing(GBS)technology to characterize the United States National Plant Germplasm System(NPGS)collection of cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.).The GBS data,derived from 1234 cucumber accessions,provided more than 23 K high-quality single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)that are well distributed at high density in the genome(~1 SNP/10.6 kb).The SNP markers were used to characterize genetic diversity,population structure,phylogenetic relationships,linkage disequilibrium,and population differentiation of the NPGS cucumber collection.These results,providing detailed genetic analysis of the U.S.cucumber collection,complement NPGS descriptive information regarding geographic origin and phenotypic characterization.We also identified genome regions significantly associated with 13 horticulturally important traits through genome-wide association studies(GWAS).Finally,we developed a molecularly informed,publicly accessible core collection of 395 accessions that represents at least 96%of the genetic variation present in the NPGS.Collectively,the information obtained from the GBS data enabled deep insight into the diversity present and genetic relationships among accessions within the collection,and will provide a valuable resource for genetic analyses,gene discovery,crop improvement,and germplasm preservation.Xin Wang Kan Bao Umesh K.Reddy Yang Bai Sue A.Hammar Chen Jiao Todd C.Wehner Axel O.Ramírez-Madera Yiqun Weng Rebecca Grumet Zhangjun Fei 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7
