1Epidemiology of lung cancer and approaches for its prediction:a systematic review and analysis显示文摘Background: Owing to the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcohol and adulterated food, worldwide cancer incidence is increasing at an alarming and frightening rate. Since the last decade of the twentieth century, lung cancer has been the most common cancer type. This study aimed to determine the global status of lung cancer and to evaluate the use of computational methods in the early detection of lung cancer.Methods: We used lung cancer data from the United Kingdom(UK), the United States(US), India, and Egypt. For statistical analysis, we used incidence and mortality as well as survival rates to better understand the critical state of lung cancer.Results: In the UK and the US, we found a significant decrease in lung cancer mortalities in the period of 1990–2014, whereas, in India and Egypt, such a decrease was not much promising. Additionally, we observed that, in the UK and the US, the survival rates of women with lung cancer were higher than those of men. We observed that the data mining and evolutionary algorithms were efficient in lung cancer detection.Conclusions: Our findings provide an inclusive understanding of the incidences, mortalities, and survival rates of lung cancer in the UK, the US, India, and Egypt. 9Medical Data Clustering and Classification Using TLBO and Machine Learning Algorithms显示文摘This study aims to empirically analyze teaching-learning-based optimization(TLBO)and machine learning algorithms using k-means and fuzzy c-means(FCM)algorithms for their individual performance evaluation in terms of clustering and classification.In the first phase,the clustering(k-means and FCM)algorithms were employed independently and the clustering accuracy was evaluated using different computationalmeasures.During the second phase,the non-clustered data obtained from the first phase were preprocessed with TLBO.TLBO was performed using k-means(TLBO-KM)and FCM(TLBO-FCM)(TLBO-KM/FCM)algorithms.The objective function was determined by considering both minimization and maximization criteria.Non-clustered data obtained from the first phase were further utilized and fed as input for threshold optimization.Five benchmark datasets were considered from theUniversity of California,Irvine(UCI)Machine Learning Repository for comparative study and experimentation.These are breast cancer Wisconsin(BCW),Pima Indians Diabetes,Heart-Statlog,Hepatitis,and Cleveland Heart Disease datasets.The combined average accuracy obtained collectively is approximately 99.4%in case of TLBO-KM and 98.6%in case of TLBOFCM.This approach is also capable of finding the dominating attributes.The findings indicate that TLBO-KM/FCM,considering different computational measures,perform well on the non-clustered data where k-means and FCM,if employed independently,fail to provide significant results.Evaluating different feature sets,the TLBO-KM/FCM and SVM(GS)clearly outperformed all other classifiers in terms of sensitivity,specificity and accuracy.TLBOKM/FCM attained the highest average sensitivity(98.7%),highest average specificity(98.4%)and highest average accuracy(99.4%)for 10-fold cross validation with different test data.Ashutosh Kumar Dubey Umesh Gupta Sonal Jain 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:0
10Plasma production and preliminary results From the ADITYA Upgrade tokamak显示文摘The Ohmically heated circular limiter tokamak ADITYA(R_0?=?75 cm, a?=?25 cm) has been upgraded to a tokamak named the ADITYA Upgrade(ADITYA-U) with an open divertor configuration with divertor plates. The main goal of ADITYA-U is to carry out dedicated experiments relevant for bigger fusion machines including ITER, such as the generation and control of runaway electrons, disruption prediction, and mitigation studies, along with an improvement in confinement with shaped plasma. The ADITYA tokamak was dismantled and the assembly of ADITYA-U was completed in March 2016. 11PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SUBMERGENCE RATIO OF A RECTANGULAR SUBMERGED VANE WITH A COLLAR显示文摘The vane induced strength of secondary flow in terms of dimensionless moment of momentum is maximum in the case of a rectangular vane with a collar at angle of attack 400 at different degrees of submergence (T/d) such as 0.60, 0.67 and 0.75. The same value of optimal angle of attack was found by Marelius and Sinha (1998) in the case of a rectangular vane without a collar. The vane induced strength of a vortex is insensitive to the submergence ratio (T/d). The vane induced strength of a vortex in terms of moment of momentum (MOM) depends on a wide range of variables, such as angle of attack, vane height, vane length, vane thickness flow depth, water density, median sediment size, velocity vector, acceleration due to gravity, water dynamic viscosity, vane shape, taper angle, etc. The optimal angle of attack is very close to 400. A dimensionless moment of momentum parameter has also been identified. Vane induced secondary flow is also related to linear momentum. The graphical plot of moment of momentum vs. different angle of attack shows a similar trend as that of the plot of dimensionless MOM such as MOM made non- dimensional by flow depth or by vane height vs. angle of attack.Umesh P. 12Surgical route and pathological risk factors in early cervical cancer-Node Zero(SURPEC-N0)显示文摘Aim:The aim of this study is to compare disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)in patients with stage I cervical cancer(≤4cms,lymph node-negative)undergoing open radical hysterectomy(ORH)vs.minimally invasive radical hysterectomy(MIRH).Methods:All patients undergoing radical hysterectomy between January 2012-December 2018 from the largest tertiary referral cancer centre were included.A 1:1 propensity matching was done based on four independent prognostic factors to compare DFS and OS with the route of surgery.Results:One hundred and ninety-nine patients were included during the study period.The median age of the cohort was 50 years.The median follow-up of patients was 47 months.Following 1:1 propensity matching,a total of 174 patients were analysed for DFS and OS in ORH(n=87)and MIRH(n=87)groups.Protective measure was used in two-thirds of the patients during MIRH.Twenty-nine patients(16.7%)had recurrences.For the matched cohort(n=174),the DFS at 36 and 60 months was 84.8%(78.1%-89.6%)and 81%(73.4%-86.6%)respectively and the OS was 96.5%(91.7%-98.5%)and 95.6%(90.3%-98%)respectively.There was no statistically significant difference in DFS or OS between ORH and MIRH.Conclusion:The present study showed no difference in oncological outcomes in MIRH compared to ORH.Retrospective audits on patient characteristics such as screening/vaccination history along with surgical technique/load and matching for crucial risk factors should be factored in future studies to eliminate the possible methodological errors.T S Shylasree Stuti Gupta Akshay Patil Pooja Singh Amita Maheshwari Santosh Menon Supriya Chopra Lavanya Gurram Palak Popat Umesh Mahantshetty Rajendra Kerkar 2022Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2022,8,1:0
13Performance analysis of cow dung as an eco-friendly additive material for sustainable moulding and casting显示文摘In the present work,an attempt is made to partially replace high cost silica sand with sustainable eco-friendly cow-dung.The practical utility of cow dung as an additive material that facilitates binding in sand moulds has been tested.The Taguchi method is used to plan and conduct nine experiments with three replicates each.Pareto analysis of variance study is performed to understand the practical significance of moulding sand variables,that is,percentage of cow dung,clay,water,and degree of ramming on sand mould properties.The conflicting multiple objective functions(maximize mould hardness,and minimize collapsibility and gas evolution)are optimized by utilizing the Data Envelopment Analysis Ranking(DEAR)method.The optimal parameters i.e.6%of clay,4%of water,5%of cow-dung and 4 numbers of ramming strokes are obtained by applying a hybrid Taguchi-DEAR method.These parameters show the best moulding properties are:mould hardness 55,gas evolution 5.9 ml·g-1,and collapsibility 470 g·cm-2.Thereafter,a Lovejoy coupling made of aluminium is cast in the sand mould prepared with cow dung and without cow dung,with the optimum set of parameters.The mechanical properties,surface finish,and microstructure of the casting cast with cow-dung are better than that without cowdung.Manjunath Patel G C Kapil Gupta Ganesh Chate Mahesh B Parappagoudar Sandeep M Jayashankar Umesh M Daivagna 2019China Foundry2019,16,6:0
14DIKE FORMATION WITH SUBMERGED VANE显示文摘Submerged vanes are submerged foils constructed in a river at an angle of attack to induce horizontal circulation in the downstream flow. The initial height of vanes is 0.2 – 0.4 times the local water depth (d) at the design stage. Its length expressed as a multiple of the height to length ratio (H/L) normally is 0.25 to 0.5. With the use of a submerged vane in straight channels, dikes (heaps of sediment) were formed downstream. At an optimal angle of attack of 40o and at a Froude number of 0.25, the formation of the dike starts at some distance from the trailing edge of the rectangular and trapezoidal submerged vanes with a collar. A significant scour hole results at the trailing edge of a vane with a collar. A typical dike formed along the vane on the suction side with a symmetric bell-shaped profile. The dike formation phenomenon triggered by a vane close to the bank-line at a flow with a relatively higher Froude number, such as 0.25, does not seem to follow a straight alignment, but has a sort of curvilinear shape bent towards the suction side. The dike formation process for a flow with a smaller Froude number, such as 0.13, is observed to not be appreciable. With the same installation height of H, a vane without a collar was dislodged by the flow at a Froude number of 0.25, whereas it was stable at a Froude number of 0.13.Umesh P. GUPTA C. S. P.
