1环境因子对木棉种子萌发的影响显示文摘木棉(Bombax malabaricum DC.)是一种可以生长在干热河谷的落叶大乔木。河谷内,木棉成年树木生长良好,有大量结实,而其周围却很少有种苗出现。通过室内条件研究木棉种子的物理特性和萌发的生物学特性,可以了解该物种种子萌发对环境因子的需求,为探讨木棉在干热河谷内自然种群更新难和萌发阶段对这一特殊生境的适应性提供理论依据。经测定,木棉种子千粒重为39.08 g,比同科的其它物种要轻。四唑(TTC,1.0%)染色测定种子生活力的结果表明有生活力种子占64.0%。种皮对吸胀无障碍,种子在25℃吸胀2 d时就开始萌发。检测了环境因子对种子萌发和幼苗生长的影响,结果表明,种子萌发对光照不敏感而且对温度有较广的适应性,15—35℃都可以萌发,25—35℃萌发率无显著差异,但随温度升高,萌发速率加快,幼苗长势增加;萌发过程对渗透胁迫敏感,聚乙二醇(PEG)浓度为0.10 g/mL时萌发率较对照显著下降,0.15 g/mL时种子就不能萌发;室温吸胀24 h的种子对热激敏感,42℃热激2 h后萌发率就已经显著下降;室温下水杨酸(SA,1,10,100 mg/L)浸种24 h,没有提高种子在萌发期间对干旱和热激的抗性。可见,高温和干旱是限制木棉种子成功萌发的关键因子,然而发现,温度较高时水分过大也会造成萌发后幼苗的死亡。郑艳玲 马焕成 Scheller Robert 高柱 郑元 2013生态学报2013,33,2:43
2Oligodendroglial GABAergic Signaling:More Than Inhibition!显示文摘GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the CNS acting at two distinct types of receptor:ligand-gated ionotropic GABAA receptors and G protein-coupled metabotropic GABAB receptors,thus mediating fast and slow inhibition of excitability at central synapses.GABAergic signal transmission has been intensively studied in neurons in contrast to oligodendrocytes and their precursors(OPCs),although the latter express both types of GABA receptor.Recent studies focusing on interneuron myelination and interneuron-OPC synapses have shed light on the importance of GABA signaling in the oligodendrocyte lineage.In this review,we start with a short summary on GABA itself and neuronal GABAergic signaling.Then,we elaborate on the physiological role of GABA receptors within the oligodendrocyte lineage and conclude with a description of these receptors as putative targets in treatments of CNS diseases.Xianshu Bai Frank Kirchhoff Anja Scheller 2021Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,7:4

4Cell wallβ-1,4-galactan regulated by the BPC1/BPC2-GALS1 module aggravates salt sensitivity in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Salinity severely reduces plant growth and limits agricultural productivity.Dynamic changes and rearrangement of the plant cell wall is an important response to salt stress,but relatively little is known about the biological importance of specific cell wall components in the response.Here,we demonstrate a specific function ofβ-1,4-galactan in salt hypersensitivity.We found that salt stress induces the accumulation ofβ-1,4-galactan in root cell walls by up regulating the expression of GALACTAN SYNTHASE 1(GALS1),which encodes aβ-1,4-galactan synthase.The accumulation ofβ-1,4-galactan negatively affects salt tolerance.Exogenous application of D-galactose(D-Gal)causes an increase inβ-1,4-galactan levels in the wild type and GALS1 mutants,especially in GALS1 overexpressors,which correlated with the aggravated salt hypersensitivity.Furthermore,we discovered that the BARLEY B RECOMBINANT/BASIC PENTACYSTEINE transcription factors BPC1/BPC2 positively regulate plant salt tolerance by repressing GALS1 expression andβ-1,4-galactan accumulation.Genetic analysis suggested that GALS1 is genetically epistatic to BPC1/BPC2 with respect to the control of salt sensitivity as well as accumulation ofβ-1,4-galactan.Taken together,our results reveal a new regulatory mechanism by whichβ-1,4-galactan regulated by the BPC1/BPC2-GALS1 module aggravates salt sensitivity in Arabidopsis thaliana.Jingwei Yan Ya Liu Lan Yang Huan He Yun Huang Lin Fang Henrik Vibe Scheller Mingyi Jiang Aying Zhang 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,3:3

14The Cooperative Activities of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5 Are Required for Normal Arabidopsis Development显示文摘Glycosyltransferases of the Cellulose Synthase Like D (CSLD) subfamily have been reported to be involved in tip growth and stem development in Arabidopsis. The csld2 and csld3 mutants are root hair defective and the csld5 mutant has reduced stem growth. In this study, we produced double and triple knockout mutants of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5. Unlike the single mutants and the csld2/csld3 double mutant, the csld2/csld5, csld3/csld5, and csld2/ csld3/csld5 mutants were dwarfed and showed severely reduced viability. This demonstrates that the cooperative activities of CSLD2, CSLD3, and CSLD5 are required for normal Arabidopsis development, and that they are involved in important processes besides the specialized role in tip growth. The mutant phenotypes indicate that CSLD2 and CSLD3 have overlapping functions with CSLD5 in early plant development, whereas the CSLD2 and CSLD3 proteins are non-redundant. To determine the biochemical function of CSLD proteins, we used transient expression in tobacco leaves. Microsomes containing heterologously expressed CSLD5 transferred mannose from GDP–mannose onto endogenous acceptors. The same activity was detected when CSLD2 and CSLD3 were co-expressed but not when they were expressed separately. With monosaccharides as exogenous acceptors, microsomal preparations from CSLD5-expressing plants mediated the transfer of mannose from GDP–mannose onto mannose.
