1First fossil evidence of Palaeocarya(Engelhardioideae:Juglandaceae)from India and its biogeographical implications显示文摘Even though presently indigenous to eastern Himalaya in India,no Engelhardioideae have been reported from the Cenozoic sediments of India till date.Here,we report the first Indian occurrence of a characteristic engelhardioid winged samaroid fruit having a tri-lobed wing(oblong-ovate median lobe and two lateral lobes)and a globose nut from the latest Neogene(Pliocene:Rajdanda Formation)sediments of Chotanagpur Plateau,eastern India.This is the first fossil evidence of relict family Juglandaceae from the Indian Cenozoic.We determine its taxonomic position on the basis of detailed macromorphological comparison with similar extant and fossil specimens and discuss its palaeoclimatic significance in terms of the present-day distribution of modern analogous species.We assign this Pliocene winged fruit specimen to the morphogenus Palaeocarya sect.Monocosta Manchester and describe it as a new species,namely Palaeocarya indica Hazra,Hazra M&Khan sp.nov.Palaeocarya sect.Monocosta has rich fossil records from the Cenozoic sediments of Europe,North America,and eastern Asia(China,Korea),but the modern analog,Engelhardia,is presently native only to India and neighboring Southeast Asia.We discuss the possible causes of disappearance of Engelhardia from the present-day vegetation of Chotanagpur Plateau.Its disappearance may be related to the gradual intensification of monsoonal rainfall seasonality since the Pliocene.Here,we also review in detail the biogeographic history of Palaeocarya sect.Monocosta and suggest its possible migration routes.Taposhi Hazra Manoshi Hazra Sanchita Kumar Sumana Mahato Meghma Bera Subir Bera Mahasin Ali Khan 2021Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,6:3
2Evaluation of the safety and effectiveness of direct oral anticoagulants and low molecular weight heparin in gastrointestinal cancer-associated venous thromboembolism显示文摘BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal cancer(GICA)is associated with a higher incidence of venous thromboembolism(VTE)compared to other solid tumors,moreover,recurrent VTE and major bleeding(MB)complications during anticoagulation treatment have an associated increase rate.GICA-VTE remains a challenging clinical scenario with MB concerns for utilization of direct oral anticoagulants(DOAC),especially with active cancer therapies.AIM To evaluate patient risk factors,effectiveness(VTE)and safety(MB)of DOACs and low molecular weight heparin(LMWH)in patients with active GICA-VTE.METHODS A retrospective chart review of patients receiving DOACs and LMWH with GICA and symptomatic or incidental VTE treated at comprehensive cancer center from November 2013 to February 2017 was performed.Inclusion criteria included active GI cancer diagnosed at any stage or treatment+/-6 mo of VTE diagnosis,whom were prescribed 6 mo or more of DOACs or LMWH.The Chi-squared test was used for overall and the Fisher exact test for pairwise comparisons of the proportions of patients experiencing recurrent VTE and MB events.Odds ratios were used to compare the relative odds of the occurrence of the outcome given exposure to the risk factor.RESULTS A total of 144 patients were prescribed anticoagulation,in which 106 fulfilled inclusion criteria apixaban(27.3%),rivaroxaban(34.9%)and enoxaparin(37.7%),and 38 were excluded.Patients median age was 66.5 years at GICA diagnosis and 67 years at CAVTE event,with 62%males,80%Caucasian,70%stage IV,pancreatic cancer(40.5%),30%Khorana Score(≥3 points),and 43.5%on active chemotherapy.Sixty-four percent of patients completed anticoagulation therapy(range 1 to 43 mo).Recurrent VTE at 6 mo was noted in 7.5%(n=3),6.8%(n=2)and 2.7%(n=1)of patients on enoxaparin,apixaban and rivaroxaban,respectively(all P=NS).MB at 6 mo were 5%(n=2)for enoxaparin,6.8%(n=2)for apixaban and 21.6%(n=8)for rivaroxaban(overall P=0.048;vs LMWH P=0.0423;all other P=NS).Significant predictors of a primary or secondary outcome for all anticoagulation therapies included:Active systemic treatment(OR=5.1,95%CI:1.3-19.3),high Khorana Score[≥3 points](OR=5.5,95%CI:1.7-17.1),active smoker(OR=6.7,95%CI:2.1-21.0),pancreatic cancer(OR=6.8,95%CI:1.9-23.2),and stage IV disease(OR=9.9,95%CI:1.2-79.1).CONCLUSION Rivaroxaban compared to apixaban and enoxaparin had a significantly higher risk of MB on GICA-VTE patients with equivocal efficacy.Alejandro Recio-Boiles Sumana Veeravelli Jessica Vondrak Hani M Babiker Aaron J Scott Rachna T Shroff Hitendra Patel Emad Elquza Ali McBride 2019World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2019,11,10:3

4Effect of nitrofurazone on the reproductive organs in adult male mice显示文摘To study the effect of 5-nitro-2-furaldehyde semicarbazone (nitrofurazone), a derivative of nitrofuran, on male reproductive organs of Parkes (P) strain mice. Methods: Mice were given nitrofurazone orally at a dose of 64mg/kg body weight per day, for 10 and 20 days, and were killed 24 h and/or 56 days after the last treatment. Histological appearance of testis, motility and number of spermatozoa in cauda epididymidis, and biochemical indices in epididymis and seminal vesicle were evaluated. Results: Histologically, testis showed marked regressive changes in the seminiferous tubules in mice treated with nitrofurazone. Ten days after treatment, there was much depletion of germ cells in the seminiferous tubules, and the germinal epithelium was lined mainly with Sertoli cells, spermatogonia, spermatocytes, and a few round spermatids; intraepithelial vacuoles and multinucleated giant cells were also observed in tubules. By 20 days, regressive changes in the seminiferous tubules were further pronounced, and pachytene spermatocytes were the most advanced germ cells noticed in the tubules. In severe cases, the tubules were lined with a thin layer of Sertoli cells and spennatogonia. The treatment also caused marked reductions in the motility and number of spermatozoa in the cauda epididymidis, in weight and the level of fructose in the seminal vesicle, and in sialic acid level in the epididymis. Fifty six days after drug withdrawal, the alterations induced in the reproductive organs returned to control levels. Conclusion: Our results suggest that nitrofurazone treatment in P mice induces marked alterations in the male reproductive organs, and that the alterations are reversible following cessation of treatment.Shio Kumar Singh Sumana Chakravarty 2001Asian Journal of Andrology2001,3,1:2
5Intranasal ketamine for the treatment of patients with acute pain in the emergency department显示文摘BACKGROUND:Pain in the emergency department(ED)is common but undertreated.The objective of this study was to examine the efficacy and safety of intranasal(IN)ketamine used as an analgesic for patients with acute injury with moderate to severe pain.METHODS:This study was a cross sectional,observational study of patients more than 8 years old experiencing moderate to severe pain[visual analog score(VAS)>50 mm].The initial dose of IN ketamine was 0.7 mg/kg with an additional dose of 0.3 mg/kg if VAS was more than 50 mm after 15minutes.Pain scores and vital signs were recorded at 0,15,30 and 60 minutes.Side-effects,sedation level and patient's satisfaction were also recorded.The primary outcome was the number of patients achieving≥20 mm reductions in VAS at 15 minutes.Other secondary outcome measures were median reduction in VAS at 15,30 and 60 minutes,changes of vital signs,adverse events,satisfaction of patients,and need for additional ketamine.RESULTS:Thirty-four patients with a median age of 29.5 years(IQR 17.5–38)were enrolled,and they had an initial median VAS of 80 mm(IQR 67–90).The VAS decreased more than 20 mm at15 minutes in 27(80%)patients.The reduction of VAS from baseline to 40 mm(IQR 20–40),20 mm(IQR 14–20)and 20 mm(IQR 10–20)respectively at 15,30 and 60 minutes(P<0.001).No critical changes of vital signs were noted and adverse effects were mild and transient.CONCLUSION:This study showed that IN ketamine is an analgesic choice for patients with acute injury in moderate to severe pain in an overcrowded and resource limited ED.Roshana Shrestha Samita Pant Ashis Shrestha Kabita Hada Batajoo Rashmi Thapa Sumana Vaidya 2016World Journal of Emergency Medicine2016,7,1:2
6Variation and dispersal of PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) during COVID-19 lockdown over Kolkata metropolitan city,India investigated through HYSPLIT model显示文摘The higher concentration of PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) in the lower atmosphere is severely harmful for human health and it also makes visibility diminution along with weather and climate modifications.The main objective is to find out the spatiotemporal variation and dispersal of PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) along with COVID-19 infection in the dusty city Kolkata.The consecutive two years PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) data of different stations have been obtained from State Pollution Control Board,Govt.of West Bengal.Forward trajectory analysis has been done through HYSPLIT(Hybrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory)model to find the path and direction of air particles.The result showed that the various meteorological or environmental factors(such as temperature,relative humidity,wind,wind speed,pressure and gusty wind)and geographical location regulate the spatiotemporal variation of PM_(10) and PM_(2.5).These factors like high temperature with relative humidity and strong wind influence to disperse the particulate matters from north to south direction from city to outside during summer in Kolkata metropolitan city.During summer(both pre and lockdown years),the height of particles is extended up to 1000 m owing to active atmospheric ventilation whereas in winter it is confined within 100 m.The HYSPLIT model clearly specified that the particles dispersed from south,south-west to north and north east direction due to strong wind.The constant magnification of PM_(10) and PM_(2.5) in the lower atmosphere leads to greater frequency of COVID-19 infections and deaths.In Kolkata,the one of the crucial reasons of high infection and deaths(COVID-19)is co-morbidity of people.Biswajit Bera Sumana Bhattacharjee Nairita Sengupta Soumik Saha 2022Geoscience Frontiers2022,13,1:2

12手术摘除大鼠腹侧前列腺后暂时代偿性肥大与限制性再生显示文摘目的 :为了证实前列腺叶切除术后前列腺叶是否的确再生 ,如果再生 ,再生的程度如何。研究的其他问题还有 :①是否再生叶在形态上与从胎儿到成年的正常发育相同 ?②部分叶切除后对对侧叶的影响以及性激素对再生过程的影响。 方法 :在叶切除术后的不同时间间隔 ,研究手术摘除腹侧前列腺叶之一对对侧叶的影响。 结果 :手术摘除大鼠腹侧前列腺叶的再生在叶切除术后的 8~ 16周达到最大值。然而 ,再生叶明显地小于原先的大小。在叶切除术后的早期 (2周 ) ,对侧叶明显肥大。之后随切除叶的不断再生 ,对侧叶恢复到正常大小。叶切除术的同时行睾丸切除引起保留叶的急剧缩小 ,但能被外源性雄激素治疗阻止。接受雌激素处理的动物其保留叶部分地而不是全部萎缩。不过 ,雌激素不能支持手术切除叶的再生 ,再生需要雄激素。 结论 :本研究证明了手术摘除腹侧前列腺的一叶导致了一个再生过程 ,然而再生叶不能达到正常大小。Sumana Chakrovarty Shashi Wadhwa Manish Diwan Ritu Malhotra S.N.Wadhwa G.P.Talwar 2003中华男科学杂志2003,9,6:1
