1CFD modeling of pressure drop and drag coefficient in fixed beds:Wall effects显示文摘Simulations of fixed beds having column to particle diameter ratio (D/dp ) of 3, 5 and 10 were performed in the creeping, transition and turbulent flow regimes, where Reynolds number (dp VLL/L ) was varied from 0.1 to 10,000. The deviations from Ergun's equation due to the wall effects, which are important in D/d p<15 beds were well explained by the CFD simulations. Thus, an increase in the pressure drop was observed due to the wall friction in the creeping flow, whereas, in turbulent regime a decrease in the pressure drop was observed due to the channeling near the wall. It was observed that, with an increase in the D/d p ratio, the effect of wall on drag coefficient decreases and drag coefficient nearly approaches to Ergun's equation. The predicted drag coefficient values were in agreement with the experimental results reported in the literature, in creeping flow regime, whereas in turbulent flow the difference was within 10-15%.Rupesh K.Reddy Jyeshtharaj B.Joshi 2010Particuology2010,8,1:6

3A modified Murashige and Skoog media for efficient multipleshoot induction in G. arborea Roxb.显示文摘This paper reports on the effect of various micropropagation factors of Gmelina arborea Roxb. through multiple shoot induction. Factors like the source and age of explants, plant growth regulators(PGRs), media composition, and carbon source affected multiple shooting in the present study. Among all the explants used, only shoot tips derived from one, two, and three week old seedlings could form multiple shoots. Besides, the formation of multiple shoots depended on the concentration and combination of PGRs. Among all the PGRs, BAP(6-benzylaminopurine) alone gave the highest regeneration efficiency. Similarly, IBA(Indole-3-butyric acid) was the most efficient PGR in inducing root formation in the microshoots. Media composition and carbon source also affected the regeneration efficiency. MS(Murashige and Skoog medium) proved to be the best media for regeneration followed by B5, SH(Schenk and Hilderbrandt medium) and WPM(Woody plant medium) in that order. Similarly, among sugars, only sucrose and glucose supported induction of microshoots. 4Palliative care for acute kidney injury patients in the intensive care unit显示文摘Patients with acute kidney injury(AKI) in the intensive care unit(ICU) are often suitable for palliative care due to the high symptom burden. The role of palliative medicine in this patient population is not well defined and there is a lack of established guidelines to address this issue. Because of this,patients in the ICU with AKI deprived of the most comprehensive or appropriate care. The reasons for this are multifactorial including lack of palliative care training among nephrologists. However,palliative care in these patients can help alleviate symptoms,improve quality of life,and decrease suffering. Palliative care physicians can determine the appropriateness and model of palliative care. 17Polyaxial strength criterion and closed-form solution for squeezing rock conditions显示文摘In this paper,a nonlinear strength criterion is proposed using the average of intermediate(σ2)and minor(σ3)principal stresses in place of σ3 in Ramamurthy(1994)’s strength criterion.The proposed criterion has the main advantages of negligible variation of strength parameters with confining stress and ability to link with conventional strength parameters.Additionally,a new closed-form solution based on the proposed criterion is derived and validated for Chhibro Khodri tunnel.Further,analytical solutions including Singh’s elastoplastic theory,Scussel’s approach,and closed-form solutions based on conventional and modified Ramamurthy(2007)criteria are compared with the results of proposed approach.It is shown that the in situ squeezing pressure predictions made by the proposed approach are more accurate.Also,a parametric study of the present analytical solution is carried out,which displays explicit dependency of tunnel stability on internal support pressure and tunnel depth.The influence of tunnel geometry is observed to be dependent on the applied support pressure.Rupesh Kumar Verma Sarvesh Chandra 2020Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,3:1
