1Cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitonealchemotherapy in gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer associated peritoneal carcinomatosis(GCPC) has a poor prognosis with a median survival of less than one year. Systemic chemotherapy including targeted agents has not been found to significantly increase the survival in GCPC. Since recurrent gastric cancer remains confined to the abdominal cavity in many patients, regional therapies like aggressive cytoreductive surgery( CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC) have been investigated for GCPC. HIPEC has been used for three indications in GC- as an adjuvant therapy after a curative surgery, HIPEC has been shown to improve survival and reduce peritoneal recurrences in many randomised trials in Asian countries; as a definitive treatment in established PC, HIPEC along with CRS is the only therapeutic modality that has resulted in longterm survival in select groups of patients; as a palliative treatment in advanced PC with intractable ascites, HIPEC has been shown to control ascites and reduce the need for frequent paracentesis. 2The Chrysanthemum nankingense Genome Provides Insights into the Evolution and Diversification of Chrysanthemum Flowers and Medicinal Traits显示文摘The Asteraceae (Compositae),a large plant family of approximately 24 000-35 000 species,accounts for^10% of all angiosperm species and contributes a lot to plant diversity.The most representative members of the Asteraceae are the economically important chrysanthemums (Chrysanthemum L.)that diversified through reticulate evolution.Biodiversity is typically created by multiple evolutionary mechanisms such as wholegenome duplication 0NGD)or polyploidization and locally repetitive genome expansion.However,the lack of genomic data from chrysanthemum species has prevented an in-depth analysis of the evolutionary mechanisms involved in their diversification.Here,we used Oxford Nanopore long-read technologyto sequence the diploid Chrysanthemum nankingense genome,which represents one of the progenitor genomes of domesticated chrysanthemums.Our analysis revealed that the evolution of the C.nankingense genome was driven by bursts of repetitive element expansion and WGD events including a recentWGD that distinguishes chrysanthemum from sunflower,which diverged from chrysanthemum approximately 38.8 million years ago.Variations of ornamental and medicinal traits in chrysanthemums are linked to the expansion of candidate gene families by duplication events including paralogous gene duplication.Collectively,our study of the assembled reference genome offers new knowledge and resources to dissect the history and pattern of evolution and diversification of chrysanthemum plants,and also to accelerate their breeding and improvement.Chi Song Yifei Liu Aiping Song Gangqiang Dong Hongbo Zhao Wei Sun Shyam Ramakrishnan Ying Wang Shuaibin Wang Tingzhao Li Yan Niu Jiafu Jiang Bin Dong Ye Xia Sumei Chen Zhigang Hu Fadi Chen Shilin Chen 2018Molecular Plant2018,11,12:24
3Robust stability criteria for uncertain linear systems with interval time-varying delay显示文摘This paper considers the robust delay-dependent stability problem of a class of linear uncertain system with interval time-varying delay and proposes less conservative stability criteria for computing the maximum allowable bound of the delay range. Less conservatism of the proposed stability criteria is attributed to the delay-central point method of stability analysis, wherein the delay interval is partitioned into two subintervals of equal length, and the time derivative of a candidate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional based on delay decomposition technique is evaluated in each of these delay segments. In deriving the stability conditions in LMI framework, neither model transformations nor bounding techniques using free-weighting matrix variables are employed for dealing the cross-terms that emerge from the time derivative of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional; instead, they are dealt using tighter integral inequalities. The proposed analysis subsequently yields a stability condition in convex LMI framework that can be solved using standard numerical packages. For deriving robust stability conditions, two categories of system uncertainties, namely, time-varying structured and polytopic-type uncertainties, are considered. 4Determination of 50% endpoint titer using a simple formula显示文摘Two commonly used methods for calculating 50% endpoint using serial dilutions are Spearman-Karber method and Reed and Muench method. To understand/apply the above formulas, moderate statistical/mathematical skills are necessary. In this paper, a simple formula/method for calculating 50% endpoints has been proposed. The formula yields essentially similar results as those of the SpearmanKarber method. 8Reference quality assembly of the 3.5-Gb genome of Capsicum annuum from a single linked-read library显示文摘Linked-Read sequencing technology has recently been employed successfully for de novo assembly of human genomes,however,the utility of this technology for complex plant genomes is unproven.We evaluated the technology for this purpose by sequencing the 3.5-gigabase(Gb)diploid pepper(Capsicum annuum)genome with a single Linked-Read library.Plant genomes,including pepper,are characterized by long,highly similar repetitive sequences.Accordingly,significant effort is used to ensure that the sequenced plant is highly homozygous and the resulting assembly is a haploid consensus.With a phased assembly approach,we targeted a heterozygous F1 derived from a wide cross to assess the ability to derive both haplotypes and characterize a pungency gene with a large insertion/deletion.The Supernova software generated a highly ordered,more contiguous sequence assembly than all currently available C.annuum reference genomes.Over 83%of the final assembly was anchored and oriented using four publicly available de novo linkage maps.A comparison of the annotation of conserved eukaryotic genes indicated the completeness of assembly.The validity of the phased assembly is further demonstrated with the complete recovery of both 2.5-Kb insertion/deletion haplotypes of the PUN1 locus in the F1 sample that represents pungent and nonpungent peppers,as well as nearly full recovery of the BUSCO2 gene set within each of the two haplotypes.The most contiguous pepper genome assembly to date has been generated which demonstrates that Linked-Read library technology provides a tool to de novo assemble complex highly repetitive heterozygous plant genomes.This technology can provide an opportunity to cost-effectively develop high-quality genome assemblies for other complex plants and compare structural and gene differences through accurate haplotype reconstruction.Amanda M.Hulse-Kemp Shamoni Maheshwari Kevin Stoffel Theresa A.Hill David Jaffe Stephen R.Williams Neil Weisenfeld Srividya Ramakrishnan Vijay Kumar Preyas Shah Michael C.Schatz Deanna M.Church Allen Van Deynze 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:4
9Emission and performance analysis of a diesel engine burning cashew nut shell oil bio diesel mixed with hexanol显示文摘In this study, the effect of doping hexanol into biodiesel which is from neat cashew nut shell biodiesel oil on the emissions and the performance characteristics was studied in a constant speed diesel engine. The main purpose of this work is to reduce various emissions and also to improve the performance of the diesel engine when fueled with blends of hexanol and neat cashew nut shell biodiesel. Cashew nut shell oil is not edible, and hence it can be used as a viable alternative to diesel.Cashew nut shell biodiesel is prepared by conventional transesterification. Hexanol with 99.2% purity was employed as an oxygenated additive. Experimental studies were conducted by fueling diesel as a baseline and by fueling hexanol and neat cashew nut shell biodiesel mixture. A fuel comprising 10%(by volume) of hexanol and 90%(by volume) neat cashew nut shell biodiesel was referred to as CNSBD900 H100 and fuel comprising 20%(by volume) of hexanol and 80%(by volume)of neat cashew nut shell biodiesel was referred to as CNSBD800 H200. This study also investigated the possibility of using pure biofuel in an unmodified naturally aspirated diesel engine. The outcome of this study showed that adding hexanol at10% and 20%(by volume) to cashew nut shell biodiesel results in a reduction in emissions. In addition, a significant improvement in brake thermal efficiency and reduction in brake-specific fuel consumptions were achieved. 10Stability Criterion with Less LMI Variables for Linear Discrete-time Systems with Additive Time-delays显示文摘In this correspondence paper, an equivalent stability criterion with minimal number of linear matrix inequality (LMI) variables is presented for a delay-dependent stability criterion reported recently in the International Journal of Automation and Computing for a class of linear discrete-time systems with additive time delays. The reported stability criterion for the additive timedelay systems has more number of matrix variables in the LMI and, hence, demand additional computational burden. The proposed equivalent stability criterion, unlike the reported one, does not involve free-weighing matrices and encompass only the matrix variables that are associated in the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, making the criterion mathematically less complex and computationally more effective.K. 12p-Coumaric acid ameliorates ethanol-induced kidney injury by inhibiting inflammatory cytokine production and NF-κB signaling in rats显示文摘Objective: To examine the effects of p-coumaric acid on ethanol-induced kidney injury in Swiss Wistar rats.Methods: Ethanol(25% v/v) was used to induce nephrotoxicity in rats. p-Coumaric acid was orally administered at 50, 100, or 200 mg/kg body weight. The levels of oxidative parameters were determined; pro-inflammatory biomarkers were analyzed by Western blotting and apoptotic protein was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Results: Ethanol treated rats showed decreased levels of antioxidants and aberrant production of pro-inflammatory cytokines(IL-6, IL1β, TNF-α), NF-κB activation and imbalance of proand anti-apoptotic proteins(Bcl-2, Bax, caspase 3). Meanwhile, p-coumaric acid restored antioxidant levels and decreased the levels of inflammatory cytokines, NF-κB, and proapoptotic proteins and increased Bcl-2 expression. 16Design and development of a high-performance Ni-based superalloy WSU 150 for additive manufacturing显示文摘This research proposes a design and development strategy of a new nickel-based superalloy for additive manufacturing.A new Ni-based superalloy has been developed by the application of the combinatorial alloy development technique coupled with CALPHAD based solidification modeling by effectively suppressing the precipitation kinetics.The suppression of precipitation during processing paved a way for prevention of cracks during deposition.The new alloy 'WSU 150' revealed excellent room temperature mechanical properties with a yield strength of 867 MPa,an ultimate tensile strength of 1188 MPa,and an elongation of 27.9% in the as-deposited condition.The mechanical properties of the heat-treated alloy were improved significantly to 1114 MPa yield strength,1396 MPa ultimate tensile strength,and an elongation of 16.1%.Improvement in the mechanical properties is attributed to the additional precipitation and coarsening of γ’ and carbides during heat-treatment.Microstructural investigation of the alloy revealed spherical γ’ with a rippled size distribution from the center to the interdendritic region.The average size of the γ’ particles in the as-deposited condition was found to be around 48 nm in the interdendritic region.Heat-treatment promoted the coarsening of γ’ which is explained in the paper.Praveen Sreeramagiri Ajay Bhagavatam Abhishek Ramakrishnan Husam Alrehaili Guru Prasad Dinda 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,12:2

18Utilization of plant-based natural coagulants as future alternatives towards sustainable water clarification显示文摘Rapid industrial developments coupled with surging population growth have complicated issues dealing with water scarcity as the quest for clean and sanitized water intensifies globally. Existing fresh water supplies could be contaminated with organic, inorganic and biological matters that have potential harm to the society. Turbidity in general is a measure of water cloudiness induced by such colloidal and suspended matters and is also one of the major criteria in raw water monitoring to meet the stipulated water quality guidelines.Turbidity reduction is often accomplished using chemical coagulants such as alum. The use of alum is widely associated with potential development of health issues and generation of voluminous sludge. Natural coagulants that are available in abundance can certainly be considered in addressing the drawbacks associated with the use of chemical coagulants.Twenty one types of plant-based natural coagulants categorized as fruit waste and others are identified and presented collectively with their research summary in this review.
