| 1 | Research advances on the multiple uses of Moringa oleifera: a sustainable alternative for socially neglected population显示文摘Moringa oleifera Lam(Moringaceae) is a plant with high nutritional and medicinal value. Native to India, it is now widely distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Its different parts are sources of proteins, vitamins and minerals and present different pharmacological and biotechnological potential. Moreover, M. oleifera seeds are widely used in water and effluent treatment, for their coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation properties, their ability of improving water quality, by reducing organic matter and microbial load, with special applicability in intensive animal production systems, such as aquaculture. In addition, due to its high nutritional value and several medicinal properties, this tree may act as a nutritional and medical alternative for socially neglected populations. In this context, this review gathers information on M. oleifera, emphasizing its chemical constituents, nutritional, pharmacological and antimicrobial properties, applications in the treatment of water effluents, and ecological and social aspects. | Raimunda Samia Nogueira Brilhante Jamille Alencar Sales Vandbergue Santos Pereira Débora de Souza Collares Maia Castelo-Branco Rossana de Aguiar Cordeiro Célia Maria de Souza Sampaio Manoel de Araújo Neto Paiva Joao Bosco Feitosa dos Santos JoséJúlio CostaSidrim Marcos Fábio Gadelha Rocha | 2017 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017,10,7: | 10 |
| 2 | Automatic Detection of COVID-19 Infection Using Chest X-Ray Images Through Transfer Learning显示文摘The new coronavirus(COVID-19),declared by the World Health Organization as a pandemic, has infected more than 1 million people and killed more than 50 thousand. An infection caused by COVID-19 can develop into pneumonia, which can be detected by a chest X-ray exam and should be treated appropriately. In this work,we propose an automatic detection method for COVID-19 infection based on chest X-ray images. The datasets constructed for this study are composed of194 X-ray images of patients diagnosed with coronavirus and 194 X-ray images of healthy patients.Since few images of patients with COVID-19 are publicly available,we apply the concept of transfer learning for this task.We use different architectures of convolutional neural networks(CNNs)trained on Image Net,and adapt them to behave as feature extractors for the X-ray images. Then, the CNNs are combined with consolidated machine learning methods, such as k-Nearest Neighbor,Bayes,Random Forest, multilayer perceptron(MLP),and support vector machine(SVM).The results show that, for one of the datasets, the extractor-classifier pair with the best performance is the Mobile Net architecture with the SVM classifier using a linear kernel, which achieves an accuracy and an F1-score of 98.5%.For the other dataset, the best pair is Dense Net201 with MLP,achieving an accuracy and an F1-score of 95.6%.Thus,the proposed approach demonstrates efficiency in detecting COVID-19 in X-ray images. | Elene Firmeza Ohata Gabriel Maia Bezerra João Victor Souza das Chagas Aloísio Vieira Lira Neto Adriano Bessa Albuquerque Victor Hugo Cde Albuquerque Pedro Pedrosa Rebouças Filho | 2021 | IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2021,8,1: | 3 |

| 9 | Fibrosis assessment using Fibro Meter combined to first generation tests in hepatitis C显示文摘AIM To evaluate the performance of FibroMeter^(Virus3G) combined to the first generation tests aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index(APRI) or Forns index to assess significant fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C(CHC).METHODS First generation tests APRI or Forns were initially applied in a derivation population from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil considering cut-offs previously reported in the literature to evaluate significant fibrosis.FibroMeter^(Virus3G) was sequentially applied to unclassified cases from APRI or Forns.Accuracy of non-invasive combination of tests,APRI plus FibroMeter^(Virus3G) and Forns plus FibroMeter^(Virus3G) was evaluated in the Brazilian derivation population.APRI plus FibroMeter^(Virus3G) combination was validated in a population of CHC patients from Angers in France. All patients were submitted to liver biopsy staged according to METAVIR score by experienced hepatopathologists.Significant fibrosis was considered as METAVIR F≥2.The fibrosis stage classification was used as the reference for accuracy evaluation of non-invasive combination of tests.Blood samples for the calculation of serum tests were collected on the same day of biopsy procedure or within a maximum 3 mo interval and stored at-70 ℃.RESULTS Seven hundred and sixty CHC patients were included(222 in the derivation population and 538 in the validation group). In the derivation population, the FibroMeter^(Virus3G) AUROC was similar to APRI AUROC(0.855 vs 0.815,P=0.06) but higher than Forns AUROC(0.769,P<0.001).The best FibroMeter^(Virus3G) cut-off to discriminate significant fibrosis was 0.61(80% diagnostic accuracy;75% in the validation population,P=0.134).The sequential combination of APRI or Forns with FibroMeter^(Virus3G) in derivation population presented similar performance compared to FibroMeter^(Virus3G) used alone(79% vs 78% vs 80%,respectively,P=0.791).Unclassified cases of significant fibrosis after applying APRI and Forns corresponded to 49% and 54%,respectively,of the total sample. However, the combination of APRI or Forns with FibroMeter^(Virus3G) allowed 73% and 77%,respectively,of these unclassified cases to be correctly evaluated. Moreover, this combination resulted in a reduction of FibroMeter^(Virus3G) requirement in approximately 50% of the entire sample. The stepwise combination of APRI and FibroMeter^(Virus3G) applied to the validation population correctly identified 74% of patients with severe fibrosis(F≥3).CONCLUSION The stepwise combination of APRI or Forns with FibroMeter^(Virus3G) may represent an accurate lower cost alternative when evaluating significant fibrosis, with no need for liver biopsy. | Maria Chiara Chindamo Jerome Boursier Ronir Raggio Luiz Isabelle Fouchard-Hubert Vera Lúcia Nunes Pannain Joao Marcello de Araújo Neto Henrique Sérgio Moraes Coelho Renata de Mello Perez Paul Calès Cristiane Alves Villela-Nogueira | 2017 | World Journal of Hepatology2017,9,6: | 1 |

| 17 | Gallbladder perforation due to endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty: A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND The healthcare impact of obesity is enormous, and there have been calls for new approaches to containing the epidemic worldwide.Minimally invasive procedures have become more popular, with one of the most widely used being endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty(ESG).Although major adverse events after ESG are rare, some can cause considerable mortality. To our knowledge, there has been no previous report of biliary ascites after ESG.CASE SUMMARY A 48-year-old female with obesity refractory to lifestyle changes and prior gastric balloon placement underwent uncomplicated ESG and was discharged on the following day.On postoperative day 3,she developed abdominal pain, which led to an emergency department visit the following day.She was readmitted to the hospital, with poor general health status and signs of peritoneal irritation.Computed tomography imaging showed fluid in the abdominal cavity.Laparoscopy revealed biliary ascites and showed that the gallbladder was sutured to the gastric wall. The patient underwent cholecystectomy and lavage of the abdominal cavity and was admitted to the intensive care unit postoperatively. After 7 d of antibiotic therapy and 20 d of hospitalization, she was discharged.Fortunately,6 mo later, she presented in excellent general condition and with a 20.2%weight loss.CONCLUSION ESG is a safe procedure. However, adverse events can still occur, and precautions should be taken by the endoscopist. In general, patient position, depth of tissue acquisition, location of stitch placement, and endoscopist experience are all important factors to consider to mitigate procedural risk. | João de Siqueira Neto Diogo Turiani Hourneaux de Moura Igor Braga Ribeiro Sérgio Alexandre Barrichello Kelly E Harthorn Christopher C Thompson | 2020 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2020,12,3: | 1 |
