| 1 | Optical multiplexing techniques and their marriage for on-chip and optical fiber communication:a review显示文摘Herein,an attention-grabbing and up-to-date review related to major multiplexing techniques is presented which in-cludes wavelength division multiplexing(WDM),polarization division multiplexing(PDM),space division multiplexing(SDM),mode division multiplexing(MDM)and orbital angular momentum multiplexing(OAMM).Multiplexing is a mech-anism by which multiple signals are combined into a shared channel used to showcase the maximum capacity of the op-tical links.However,it is critical to develop hybrid multiplexing methods to allow enhanced channel numbers.In this re-view,we have also included hybrid multiplexing techniques such as WDM-PDM,WDM-MDM and PDM-MDM.It is prob-able to attain N×M channels by utilizing N wavelengths and M guided-modes by simply utilizing hybrid WDM-MDM(de)multiplexers.To the best of our knowledge,this review paper is one of its kind which has highlighted the most prom-inent and recent signs of progress in multiplexing techniques in one place. | Svetlana Nikolaevna Khonina Nikolay Lvovich Kazanskiy Muhammad Ali Butt Sergei Vladimirovich Karpeev | 2022 | Opto-Electronic Advances2022,5,8: | 6 |
| 2 | Selection of suitable site in Pakistan for wind power plant installation using analytic hierarchy process(AHP)显示文摘Rise in environmental pollution is a critical problem faced by mankind today.Many interventions have been made to reduce the carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases.Interventions,such as the introduction of electric cars,and innovative techniques to harness energy from renewable sources have been implemented.Pakistan is also very focused on exploiting its renewable energy sources and many sources have been identified.Wind energy is considered to have a promising potential and numerous sites have been identified for installation of wind farms.In this paper,we have collected data for the sites with the capacity factor(key determinant of value of power plant)of 25%or above for 600 kW wind turbine and applied Multi-Criteria Decision Method to find the most suitable to least suitable site for the installation of wind farm with respect to different factors/criteria.Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to evaluate four potential sites based on the criteria of wind speed(m/s),wind power density(W/m^(2)),distance from grid station(km),capacity factor,transport cost and population density.Results show that the preference of site largely depends on the average annual wind speed and wind power density.Our study is helpful for government as they verify the findings of Pakistan Meteorological Department but with different approach. | Yousaf Ali Masab Butt Muhammad sabir Ubaidullah Mumtaz Aneel Salman | 2018 | Journal of Control and Decision2018,5,2: | 1 |
| 3 | Highly Sensitive Refractive Index Sensor Based on Plasmonic Bow Tie Configuration显示文摘We propose a highly refractive index sensor based on plasmonic Bow Tie configuration.The sensitivity of the resonator design is enhanced by incorporating a nanowall(NW)in a modified Bow Tie design where sharp tips of V-junction are flattened.This approach provides high confinement of electric field distribution of surface plasmon polariton(SPP)mode in the narrow region of the cavity.Consequently,the effective refractive index(neff)of the mode increases and is highly responsive to the ambient medium.The sensitivity analysis of the SPP mode is calculated for six resonator schemes.The results suggest that the NW embedded cavity offers the highest mode sensitivity due to the large shift of effective index when exposed to a slight change in the medium refractive index.Moreover,the device sensitivity of the proposed design is approximated at 2300 nm/RIU which is much higher than the sensitivity of the standard Bow Tie configuration. | Muhammad Ali BUTT Nikolay Lvovich KAZANSKIY Svetlana Nikolaevna KHONINA | 2020 | Photonic Sensors2020,10,3: | 1 |

| 6 | Facile synthesis of ironenickelecobalt ternary oxide(FNCO)mesoporous nanowires as electrode material for supercapacitor application显示文摘Transition Metal Oxides have drawn significant attention due to their reversible chemical redox reaction and long-life stability.Inexorable agglomeration and shrinkage/expansion of transition metal oxides in the nanosize regime have a noticeable effect on their electrochemical properties.Here in this work,mesoporous nanowires(NWs)with a typical composition of iron-nickel-cobalt ternary oxide(FNCO)are synthesized using a simple,facile and cost-effective hydrothermal process followed by furnace annealing.These NWs are then extensively investigated as an electrode material for supercapacitor application.To compare the electrochemical properties,nanowires of nickel-cobalt oxide(NCO),iron-cobalt oxide(FCO)and cobalt oxide(CO)were also produced by following the same protocol.The FNCO NWs are found to overcome the shortcomings in the electrochemical energy storage devices by exhibiting higher values of specific capacitance(2197 Fg^(-1))and energy density(109 Whkg^(-1))at 1 Ag^(-1) current rate.Moreover,the FNCO NWs also showed a cyclic charge/discharge stability of 96%even up to 20,000 cycles.Furthermore,a FNCO//graphene asymmetric device,fabricated with FNCO NWs and graphene as positive and negative electrodes,respectively,which exhibit high energy density(47 Whkg^(-1)),power density(375 Wkg^(-1))and excellent capacitance retention(86%)after 15,000 cycles. | Muhammad Usman Muhammad Tayyab Ahsan Sofia Javed Zeeshan Ali Yiqiang Zhan Irfan Ahmed Sajid Butt Mohammad Islam Asif Mahmood M.Aftab Akram | 2022 | Journal of Materiomics2022,8,1: | 0 |

| 8 | Polarization-Insensitive Hybrid Plasmonic Waveguide Design for Evanescent Field Absorption Gas Sensor显示文摘We propose a polarization-insensitive design of a hybrid plasmonic waveguide(HPWG)optimized at the 3.392µm wavelength which corresponds to the absorption line of methane gas.The waveguide design is capable of providing high mode sensitivity(Smode)and evanescent field ratio(EFR)for both transverse electric(TE)and transverse magnetic(TM)hybrid modes.The modal analysis of the waveguide is performed via 2-dimension(2D)and 3-dimension(3D)finite element methods(FEMs).At optimized waveguide parameters,Smode and EFR of 0.94 and 0.704,can be obtained for the TE hybrid mode,respectively,whereas the TM hybrid mode can offer Smode and EFR of 0.86 and 0.67,respectively.The TE and TM hybrid modes power dissipation of~3 dB can be obtained for a 20-µm-long hybrid plasmonic waveguide at the 60%gas concentration.We believe that the highly sensitive waveguide scheme proposed in this work overcomes the limitation of the polarization controlled light and can be utilized in gas sensing applications. | Nikolay Lvovich Kazanskiy Svetlana Nikolaevna Khonina Muhammad Ali Butt | 2021 | Photonic Sensors2021,11,3: | 0 |
| 9 | Immediate in-hospital outcomes after percutaneous revascularization of acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock显示文摘BACKGROUND Cardiogenic shock(CS)is a life-threatening complication of acute myocardial infarction with high morbidity and mortality rates.Primary percutaneous coro-nary intervention(PCI)has been shown to improve outcomes in patients with CS.AIM To investigate the immediate mortality rates in patients with CS undergoing primary PCI and identify mortality predictors.METHODS We conducted a retrospective analysis of 305 patients with CS who underwent primary PCI at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases,Karachi,Pak-istan,between January 2018 and December 2022.The primary outcome was immediate mortality,defined as mortality within index hospitalization.Uni-variate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify predictors of immediate mortality.RESULTS In a sample of 305 patients with 72.8%male patients and a mean age of 58.1±11.8 years,the immediate mortality rate was found to be 54.8%(167).Multivariable analysis identified Killip class IV at presentation[odds ratio(OR):2.0;95%co-nfidence interval(CI):1.2-3.4;P=0.008],Multivessel disease(OR:3.5;95%CI:1.8-6.9;P<0.001),and high thrombus burden(OR:2.6;95%CI:1.4-4.9;P=0.003)as independent predictors of immediate mortality.CONCLUSION Immediate mortality rate in patients with CS undergoing primary PCI remains high despite advances in treatment strategies.Killip class IV at presentation,multivessel disease,and high thrombus burden(grade≥4)were identified as independent predictors of immediate mortality.These findings underscore the need for aggressive management and close monitoring of patients with CS undergoing primary PCI,particularly in those with these high-risk characteristics. | Bashir Ahmed Solangi Jehangir Ali Shah Rajesh Kumar Mahesh Kumar Batra Gulzar Ali Muhammad Hassan Butt Ambreen Nisar Nadeem Qamar Tahir Saghir Jawaid Akbar Sial | 2023 | World Journal of Cardiology2023,15,9: | 0 |
| 10 | Evaluating the exchange rate and commodity price nexus in Malaysia: evidence from the threshold cointegration approach显示文摘This paper examines the long-and short-run dynamics of asymmetric adjustment between the nominal exchange rate and commodity prices,namely oil,palm oil,rubber,and natural gas prices,in Malaysia using monthly data from January 1994 to December 2017.The relationship between exchange rate and each commodity price is examined in terms of Engle-Granger and threshold cointegrations.The estimated results provide evidence of long-run threshold cointegration and show that the adjustments towards the long-run equilibrium position are asymmetric in the short run.Furthermore,this study finds evidence of a unidirectional causal relationship running from the nominal exchange rate to oil price in the long and short run using a spectral frequency domain causality application.There is also empirical evidence of bidirectional causality between the nominal exchange rate and palm oil price,rubber price,and natural gas price in the long and short run.Overall,the findings have significant implications for the current debate on the future of primary commodities in Malaysia. | Shamaila Butt Suresh Ramakrishnan Nanthakumar Loganathan Muhammad Ali Chohan | 2020 | Financial Innovation2020,6,1: | 0 |
