1Seismic isolation effect of lined circular tunnels with damping treatments显示文摘The Havriliak-Negami model for dynamic viscoelastic material behavior and Biot’s theory of poroelasticity are employed to develop an exact solution for three-dimensional scattering effect of harmonic plane P–SV waves from a circular cavity lined with a multilayered fluid-filled shell of infinite length containing viscoelastic damping materials and embedded within a fluid-saturated permeable surrounding soil medium. The analytical results are illustrated with numerical examples where the effects of liner/coating structural arrangement, viscoelastic material properties, liner-soil interface bonding condition, seismic excitation frequency, and angle of incidence on the induced dynamic stress concentrations are evaluated and discussed to obtain representative values of the parameters that characterize the system. It is demonstrated that incorporating viscoelastic damping materials with a low shear modulus in the constrained layer configuration is an efficient means of enhancing the overall seismic isolation performance, especially for near-normally incident seismic shear waves where the amplitudes of induced dynamic stresses may be reduced by up to one-third of those without isolation in a relatively wide frequency range. 5The Hippo Tumor Suppressor Pathway(YAP/TAZ/TEAD/MST/LATS)and EGFR-RAS-RAF-MEK in cancer metastasis显示文摘Hippo Tumor Suppressor Pathway is the main pathway for cell growth that regulates tissue enlargement and organ size by limiting cell growth.This pathway is activated in response to cell cycle arrest signals(cell polarity,transduction,and DNA damage)and limited by growth factors or mitogens associated with EGF and LPA.The major pathway consists of the central kinase of Ste20 MAPK(Saccharomyces cerevisiae),Hpo(Drosophila melanogaster)or MST kinases(mammalian)that activates the mammalian AGC kinase dmWts or LATS effector(MST and LATS).YAP in the nucleus work as a cofactor for a wide range of transcription factors involved in proliferation(TEA domain family,TEAD1-4),stem cells(Oct4 mononuclear factor and SMAD-related TGFb effector),differentiation(RUNX1),and Cell cycle/apoptosis control(p53,p63,and p73 family members).This is due to the diverse roles of YAP and may limit tumor progression and establishment.TEAD also coordinates various signal transduction pathways such as Hippo,WNT,TGFb and EGFR,and effects on lack of regulation of TEAD cancerous genes,such as KRAS,BRAF,LKB1,NF2 and MYC,which play essential roles in tumor progression,metastasis,cancer metabolism,immunity,and drug resistance.However,RAS signaling is a pivotal factor in the inactivation of Hippo,which controls EGFR-RAS-RAF-MEK-ERKmediated interaction of Hippo signaling.Thus,the loss of the Hippo pathway may have significant consequences on the targets of RAS-RAF mutations in cancer.Mohammad Reza Zinatizadeh Seyed Rouhollah Miri Peyman Kheirandish Zarandi Ghanbar Mahmoodi Chalbatani Catarina Raposo Hamid Reza Mirzaei Mohammad Esmaeil Akbari Habibollah Mahmoodzadeh 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,1:5
6Enucleation and evisceration: indications, complications and clinicopathological correlations显示文摘·AIM: To assess main indications, postoperative complications and clinicopathological correlation of ocular enucleation-evisceration.·METHODS: A total of 107 subjects who underwent enucleation and/or evisceration and received hydroxyapatite implants(Scleral wrap or mesh) were assessed. For each patient clinicopathological data was collected which included demographic information,clinical history, primary clinical diagnosis, main cause of ophthalmic surgery(traumatic, non-traumatic), type of surgical procedure(enucleation, evisceration) and pathological report. Patients' postoperative clinical visits were checked for procedure-related complications during first year after surgery.·RESULTS: One hundred and seven patients(male:65.4%; mean age: 26y) underwent enucleation(n=100) or evisceration(n =7) due to traumatic(n =41) and non-traumatic(n =66) causes. Disfiguring painful blind eye was the most common indication of surgery(66.4%),followed by leukocoria(19.6%) and endophthalmitis(4.7%). The main types of injury included firecracker,traffic and work accidents, and sharp object perforating injury. In 53(80.3%) subjects in non-traumatic group the initial clinical diagnosis matched the histopathologicalresults. Malignant tumors(retinoblastoma: 47.5%,malignant melanoma: 27.3%) were the most common pathological diagnoses followed by phthisis bulbi(25.8%).The most common procedure-related complications were major eye discharge(39.6%), and implant exposure and discharge(20.8%).·CONCLUSION: Trauma and malignant tumors are the leading causes of enucleation-evisceration. 8Tonsil-derived stem cells as a new source of adult stem cells显示文摘Located near the oropharynx, the tonsils are the primary mucosal immune organ. Tonsil tissue is a promising alternative source for the high-yield isolation of adult stem cells, and recent studies have reported the identification and isolation of tonsil-derived stem cells (T-SCs) from waste surgical tissue following tonsillectomies in relatively young donors (i.e., under 10 years old). As such, TSCs offer several advantages, including superior proliferation and a shorter doubling time compared to bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). T-SCs also exhibit multi-lineage differentiation, including mesodermal, endodermal (e.g., hepatocytes and parathyroid-like cells), and even ectodermal cells (e.g., Schwann cells). To this end, numbers of researchers have evaluated the practical use of T-SCs as an alternative source of autologous or allogenic MSCs.
