| 1 | Current research on soybean pest management in China显示文摘Pest is one of the important factors affecting soybean yield and quality. Until now, 404 species on soybean have been known based on literature review and a large scale survey. More than 20 key pests occur every year and are causing serious damage. In 3 different ecoregions(Northern ecoregion, Huang-Huai-Hai ecoregion and Central south ecoregion), pests occurrence and damage styles show a variety of regional characteristics. Soybean pests occurrence from north to south were shown as follow: from large pests to small pests, from chewing pests to sucking pests, from low reproductive rate and less generation pests to high reproductive rate and more generation pests. Soybean pest management is mainly based on resistant breeding, combining with monitoring, plant quarantine, cultural, biological, physical, mechanical and chemical controls in China. Although pesticides play an important role in practice, the absence of reasonable use has threatened sustainability of China's soybean production. Soybean integrated pest management is not the only strategy, and it still needs improvement and development, but it's the best alternative for pest control. It can be expected that integrated pest management will remain as the main strategy for soybean pest control in future. Further innovation of green prevention and control technology will also become a focus of future research in view of new pest problems brought about by crop restructuring, agricultural system change and global climate change. Integration of above technologies will reduce the harm of pests and production costs as well as improving soybean production capacity. | 3 | A Genome Sequence of Novel SARS-CoV Isolates: the Genotype, GD-Ins29, Leads to a Hypothesis of Viral Transmission in South China显示文摘We report a complete genomic sequence of rare isolates (minor genotype) of theSARS-CoV from SARS patients in Guangdong, China, where the first few casesemerged. The most striking discovery from the isolate is an extra 29-nucleotidesequence located at the nucleotide positions between 27,863 and 27,864 (referredto the complete sequence of B J01) within an overlapped region composed of BGI-PUP5 (BGI-postulated uncharacterized protein 5) and BGI-PUP6 upstream ofthe N (nucleocapsid) protein. The discovery of this minor genotype, GD-Ins29,suggests a significant genetic event and differentiates it from the previously re-ported genotype, the dominant form among all sequenced SARS-CoV isolates. A17-nt segment of this extra sequence is identical to a segment of the same size intwo human mRNA sequences that may interfere with viral genome replication andtranscription in the cytosol of the infected cells. | 4 | Baicalein suppresses vasculogenic mimicry through inhibiting RhoA/ROCK expression in lung cancer A549 cell line显示文摘Vasculogenic mimicry(VM)refers to a new tubular network of the blood supply system with abundant extracellular matrix.VM is similar to capillaries but does not involve endothelial cells.As a traditional herbal medicine commonly used in China,baicalein possesses anti-inflammatory and lipoxygenase activities.However,the effects of baicalein on the process of VM formation in nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and the underlying mechanisms have remained poorly understood.In this study,baicalein was found to inhibit the viability and motility of A549 cells and induced the breakage of the cytoskeletal actin filament network.In addition,baicalein significantly decreased the formation of VM and downregulated the expressions of VM-associated factors,such as VEcadherin,EphA2,MMP14,MMP2,MIVIP9,PI3K and LAMC2,similar to the effects of ROCK inhibitors.In deed,baicalei n inhibited RhoA/ROCK expression in vitro and in vivo,suggesting the underlying mechanisms of reduced VM formation.Collectively,baicalein suppressed the formation of VM in NSCLC by targeting the RhoA/ROCK signaling pathway,indicating that baicalein might serve as an emerging drug for NSCLC. | Zhe Zhang Li Nong Menglei Chen Xiaoli Gu Weiwei Zhao Minghui Liu Wenwu Cheng | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,9: | 5 |
| 5 | Bamboo charcoal addition enhanced the nitrogen removal of anammox granular sludge with COD:Performance,physicochemical characteristics and microbial community显示文摘The effects of different chemical oxygen demand(COD)concentrations on the anammox granular sludge with Bamboo Charcoal(BC)addition were evaluated in UASB reactor.The results showed that the average total nitrogen(TN)removal efficiency was reduced from 85.9%to 81.4%when COD concentration was increased from 50 to 150 mg/L.However,the TN removal efficiency of BC addition reactors was dramatically 3.1%-6.4%higher than that without BC under different COD concentrations.The average diameter of granular sludge was 0.13 mm higher than that without BC.The settling velocity was increased by elevated COD concentration,while the EPS and VSS/SS were increased with BC addition.The high-throughput Miseq sequencing analyses revealed that the bacterial diversity and richness were decreased under COD addition,and the Planctomycetes related to anammox bacteria were Candidatus Brocadia and Candidatus Kuenenia.The Metagenomic sequencing indicated that the abundance of denitrification related functional genes all increased with elevated COD,while the abundance of anammox related functional genes of decreased.The func-tional genes related to anammox was hydrazine synthase encoding genes(hzsA,hzsB and hzsB).The average relative abundance of hzs genes in the reactor with BC addition was higher than the control at COD concentrations of 50 mg/L and 150 mg/L.The functional genes of denitrification mediated by BC were higher than those without BC throughout the operation phase.It is interesting to note that BC addition greatly enriched the related func-tional genes of denitrification and anammox. | Menglei Guo Ying Jiang Junxiang Xie Qianfei Cao Qun Zhang Adams Mabruk Chongjun Chen | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,5: | 5 |

| 11 | Effects of Combined Exposure to Formaldehyde and PM2.5 on the Brain of Balb/c Mice Asthma Model显示文摘Epidemiological studies have shown that there is a link between asthma and brain damage,but toxicological studies have not fully confirmed yet,especially the effects of asthma on the brain. In this study,at first,we explore the effects of asthma on the brain through the establishment of an allergic asthma model. Then PM_(2.5),a typical outdoor air pollutant and formaldehyde,a typical indoor air pollutant were selected to be closer to the true environment and find whether there is any synergism between them. In this study,an ovalbumin( OVA)-sensitized mice asthma model was established. 30 male Balb/c mice were randomly divided into 5 groups:( 1) saline control group,( 2) OVA-sensitized group,( 3) OVA-combined with formaldehyde exposure group,( 4) OVA-combined with PM_(2.5) exposure group,( 5) Combination of OVA,formaldehyde and PM_(2.5) exposure group. The mice were inhaled with formaldehyde or/and instilled with PM_(2.5) from day 1 to 18. The mice asthma model was developed by OVA sensitization and challenge. The mice were sensitized with OVA+Al( OH)3( 5 mg OVA and 175 mg Al( OH)3 in 30 m L saline each time) or saline( 30 m L saline each time) by intraperitoneal injection on day 1,7 and 14.This was then followed by an aerosol challenge in 1% OVA( 30 min·d^(-1)) from day 19 to 25( 7 times) using an ultrasonic nebulizer. On the 26 th day,the organ coefficient of mice brain was counted,then the contents of oxidative stress of mice brain were measured,including reactive oxygen species( ROS),glutathione( GSH) and malondialdehyde( MDA),and the concentrations of NF-κB and interleukin-1β( IL-1β) were detected by using ELISA kits.Detection of interleukin-6( IL-6) was made with immunohistochemical method. Histological assay for brain was also conducted. In our results,all the OVA treated groups showed a significant increase of ROS and a significant decrease of GSH contents when compared with the control group. Except OVA-sensitized group,other OVA treated groups also showed a significant increase of MDA contents when compared with the control group,and MDA contents of OVA-sensitized group showed significant change when compared to the combined exposure group. In ROS and GSH,combined exposure showed some joint effect compared with single exposure. When OVA was applied in combination with formaldehyde and PM_(2.5),NF-κB was activated. And all the OVA treated groups showed increased levels of IL-1β and IL-6 compared with the control group. And the combined exposure showed an aggravated effect when compared with OVA-sensitized group. Histopathological observation of the hippocampus in mice brain clearly showed the difference of eosin( EO) stained neurons in the combined exposure group compared with the control group and OVA-sensitized group. The pyramidal neurons of the mice with allergic asthma exposed to formaldehyde and/or PM_(2.5) had been reduced in number,the cells were swollen and the dendrites had disappeared. Allergic asthma can cause damage to the brain through oxidative stress. In the last decade, these materials have evoked intensive investigations in SIBs, serving as either cathode, anode, or both depending on their sodiation degree and redox potential. Exciting progress has been made, but significant gaps in our knowledge still remain. Their practical application in SIBs remains unclear and thus calls for further efforts to settle several technical challenges in terms of poor conductivity, unstable cycling, and inefficient charge storage. | 18 | Effects of Diet with'Lianhuang'Additive of Chinese Herb Medicine on Growth Performance and Metabolic Rates of Dietary Nutrients in Donglan Black Chicken显示文摘[Objectives]The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of diet with'Lianhuang'additive of Chinese herbal medicine(LACHM)on growth performance and metabolic rates of dietary nutrients in Donglan black chickens(DBCs).[Methods]80 DBCs aged 1 d were blocked into 4 groups randomly and assigned to 6 replicates in each group with 20 chicks in each replicate.Group A as control group fed basal diet.Groups B,C and D as treatment groups consumed the basal diet added with 0.25%,0.50%and 1.00%of LACHM,respectively during the test period of 70 d.In the end of feeding test,24 DBCs with similar body weight from each group were chosen out and used for a metabolism test to determine the metabolic rates of dietary nutrients from each treatment.The metabolism test was conducted as the same design as the feeding test and the DBCs from each group were fed the same diet as previous test.[Results]The ADG of chickens in the test increased by 5.00%-9.15%(P<0.05)except the stage of 50-70 d,and the individual average body weight(IABW)at 70 d in group B also increased by 4.86%(P<0.05).Compared with group A,the ADG of group C in the stages of 36-49,1-49 and 1-70 d and the IABW in the end of 70 d increased by 5.90%,2.66%,2.68%and 2.57%(P>0.05),respectively.The ADFI in the stage of 36-49 d from group A was 6.04%more than that from group B(P<0.01),and 5.12%and 4.13%more than those from groups C and D(P<0.05),respectively,and the ADFI of group A in the stage of 1-49 d was still 2.86%more than that from group C(P<0.05).However,no differences in ADFI were found in other stages in the test among the 4 groups(P>0.05).The F/G in the stages of 22-35 and 1-70 d from group B was 6.32%and 3.41%lower than those from group A(P<0.05),respectively,and even 11.43%and 7.31%lower in the stages of 36-49 and 1-49 d from group B than those from group A(P<0.01),respectively.The F/G of group C in the stage of 36-49 d was also 10.15%lower than that of group A(P<0.05),and still 5.29%lower than that from group A in 1-49 d(P<0.01),but no differences were found in other stages between the two groups(P>0.05).The metabolic rates of MD,CP,CF,NFE,CA,TE,Ca and P in the 3 treatment diets for group B,C and D all increased to some extent.Among them,the increasing extents of diets with 0.25%and 0.50%of LACHM for groups B and C were much greater.Therefore,the diet with 0.25%of LACHM could improve the growth performance and metabolic rates of dietary nutrients in DBCs significantly.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical reference for the effects of traditional Chinese medicine additives on the growth and metabolic rates of DBCs. | Jing YAN Lei QIU Min CHEN Fulin WANG Wenjie LU Menglei LI Cui YANG Jiahuang YANG | 2022 | Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,3: | 1 |
| 19 | Gut microbiome,cognitive function and brain structure:a multi-omics integration analysis显示文摘Background:Microbiome-gut-brain axis may be involved in the progression of age-related cognitive impairment and relevant brain structure changes,but evidence from large human cohorts is lacking.This study was aimed to investigate the associations of gut microbiome with cognitive impairment and brain structure based on multi-omics from three independent populations.Methods:We included 1430 participants from the Guangzhou Nutrition and Health Study(GNHS)with both gut microbiome and cognitive assessment data available as a discovery cohort,of whom 272 individuals provided fecal samples twice before cognitive assessment.We selected 208 individuals with baseline microbiome data for brain magnetic resonance imaging during the follow-up visit.Fecal 16S rRNA and shotgun metagenomic sequencing,tar-geted serum metabolomics,and cytokine measurements were performed in the GNHS.The validation analyses were conducted in an Alzheimer’s disease case-control study(replication study 1,n=90)and another community-based cohort(replication study 2,n=1300)with cross-sectional dataset.Results:We found protective associations of specific gut microbial genera(Odoribacter,Butyricimonas,and Bac-teroides)with cognitive impairment in both the discovery cohort and the replication study 1.Result of Bacteroides was further validated in the replication study 2.Odoribacter was positively associated with hippocampal volume(β,0.16;95%CI 0.06-0.26,P=0.002),which might be mediated by acetic acids.Increased intra-individual alterations in gut microbial composition were found in participants with cognitive impairment.We also identified several serum metabolites and inflammation-associated metagenomic species and pathways linked to impaired cognition.Conclusions:Our findings reveal that specific gut microbial features are closely associated with cognitive impair-ment and decreased hippocampal volume,which may play an important role in dementia development. | Xinxiu Liang Yuanqing Fu Wen-ting Cao Zhihong Wang Ke Zhang Zengliang Jiang Xiaofang Jia Chun-ying Liu Hong-rou Lin Haili Zhong Zelei Miao Wanglong Gou Menglei Shuai Yujing Huang Shengdi Chen Bing Zhang Yu-ming Chen Ju-Sheng Zheng | 2022 | Translational Neurodegeneration2022,11,1: | 1 |
