| 1 | Sex-specific effects of Eugenia punicifolia extract on gastric ulcer healing in rats显示文摘AIM To evaluate the sex-specific effects of a hydroalcoholic extract from Eugenia punicifolia(HEEP) leaves on gastric ulcer healing.METHODS In this rat study involving males, intact(cycling) females, and ovariectomized females, gastric ulcers were induced using acetic acid. A vehicle, lansoprazole, or HEEP was administered for 14 d after ulcer induction. Body weight was monitored throughout the treatment period. At the end of treatment, the rats were euthanized and the following in vivo and in vitro investigations were performed: macroscopic examination of the lesion area and organ weights, biochemical analysis, zymography, and evaluation of protein expression levels. Additionally, the concentration-dependent effect of HEEP was evaluated in terms of subacute toxicity and cytotoxicity.RESULTS Compared to the vehicle, HEEP demonstrated a great healing capacity by substantially reducing the ulcerative lesion area in males(52.44%), intact females(85.22%), and ovariectomized females(65.47%), confirming that HEEP accelerates the healing of acetic acidinduced gastric lesions and suggesting that this effect is modulated by female sex hormones. The antiulcer effect of HEEP was mediated by prostaglandin E2 only in male rats. Overall, the beneficial effect of HEEP was the highest in intact females. Notably, HEEP promoted the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(intact vs ovariectomized females) and decreased the expression of Caspase-8 and Bcl-2(intact female vs male or ovariectomized female). Additionally, HEEP enhanced fibroblast proliferation and migration into a wounded area in vitro, confirming its healing effect. Finally, no sign of subacute toxicity or cytotoxicity of HEEP was observed.CONCLUSION In gastric ulcers, HEEP-induced healing(modulated by female sex hormones; in males, mediated by prostaglandin) involves extracellular matrix remodeling, with gastric mucosa cell proliferation and migration. | Larissa Lucena Périco Vinícius Peixoto Rodrigues Rie Ohara Gabriela Bueno Vania Vasti Alfieri Nunes Raquel Cássia dos Santos Ana Carolina Lima Camargo Luis Antuio Justulin Joior Sérgio Faloni de Andrade Viviane Miranda Bispo Steimbach Luísa Mota da Silva Lúcia Regina Machado da Rocha Wagner Vilegas Catarina dos Santos Clélia Akiko Hiruma-Lima | 2018 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,38: | 3 |

| 6 | FungalTraits:a user-friendly traits database of fungi and fungus-like stramenopiles显示文摘The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental studies.Over the past decades, rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and habitats.Yet,in spite of the progress of molecular methods, knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains challenging. In order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis levels.Combining the information from previous efforts such as FUNGuild and FunFun together with involvement of expert knowledge,we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera, respectively. This resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera, designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental stud-ies.In order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses, the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS sequences. On the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1%dissimilarity threshold. | Sergei Põlme Kessy Abarenkov RHenrik Nilsson Björn D.Lindahl Karina Engelbrecht Clemmensen Havard Kauserud Nhu Nguyen Rasmus Kjøller Scott T.Bates Petr Baldrian Tobias Guldberg Frøslev Kristjan Adojaan Alfredo Vizzini Ave Suija Donald Pfister Hans-Otto Baral Helle Järv Hugo Madrid Jenni Nordén Jian-Kui Liu Julia Pawlowska Kadri Põldmaa Kadri Pärtel Kadri Runnel Karen Hansen Karl-Henrik Larsson Kevin David Hyde Marcelo Sandoval-Denis Matthew E.Smith Merje Toome-Heller Nalin N.Wijayawardene Nelson Menolli Jr Nicole K.Reynolds Rein Drenkhan Sajeewa S.N.Maharachchikumbura Tatiana B.Gibertoni Thomas Læssøe William Davis Yuri Tokarev Adriana Corrales Adriene Mayra Soares Ahto Agan Alexandre Reis Machado Andrés Argüelles-Moyao Andrew Detheridge Angelina de Meiras-Ottoni Annemieke Verbeken Arun Kumar Dutta Bao-Kai Cui C.K.Pradeep César Marín Daniel Stanton Daniyal Gohar Dhanushka N.Wanasinghe Eveli Otsing Farzad Aslani Gareth W.Griffith Thorsten H.Lumbsch Hans-Peter Grossart Hossein Masigol Ina Timling Inga Hiiesalu Jane Oja John Y.Kupagme József Geml Julieta Alvarez-Manjarrez Kai Ilves Kaire Loit Kalev Adamson Kazuhide Nara Kati Küngas Keilor Rojas-Jimenez Krišs Bitenieks Laszlo Irinyi LászlóGNagy Liina Soonvald Li-Wei Zhou Lysett Wagner M.Catherine Aime MaarjaÖpik María Isabel Mujica Martin Metsoja Martin Ryberg Martti Vasar Masao Murata Matthew PNelsen Michelle Cleary Milan C.Samarakoon Mingkwan Doilom Mohammad Bahram Niloufar Hagh-Doust Olesya Dulya Peter Johnston Petr Kohout Qian Chen Qing Tian Rajasree Nandi Rasekh Amiri Rekhani Hansika Perera Renata dos Santos Chikowski Renato L.Mendes-Alvarenga Roberto Garibay-Orijel Robin Gielen Rungtiwa Phookamsak Ruvishika S.Jayawardena Saleh Rahimlou Samantha C.Karunarathna Saowaluck Tibpromma Shawn P.Brown Siim-Kaarel Sepp Sunil Mundra Zhu-Hua Luo Tanay Bose Tanel Vahter Tarquin Netherway Teng Yang Tom May Torda Varga Wei Li Victor Rafael Matos Coimbra Virton Rodrigo Targino de Oliveira Vitor Xavier de Lima Vladimir S.Mikryukov Yongzhong Lu Yosuke Matsuda Yumiko Miyamoto Urmas Kõljalg Leho Tedersoo | 2020 | Fungal Diversity2020,,6: | 1 |

| 11 | Morphophysiological responses of forest seedling species subjected to different water regimes显示文摘Water availability is a limiting factor for the establishment and development of forest species. To understand the appropriate conditions for the initial post-transplanting phase,it is necessary to understand the specific morphophysiological characteristics of the species, such as the leaf water potential and the efficiency of photosystemⅡ.We aimed to identify the influence of different water regimes on the morphophysiological aspects of young plants of two forest species(Cedrela.fissilis Vellozo and Eucalyptus saligna Sm.).Two greenhouse experiments were conducted for 28 days;one for each species. The design was completely randomized, and the treatments consisted of six different water regimes.Leaf water potential(Ψw)and chlorophyll a fluorescence were evaluated every 7 days.At the end of the experiment, morphological attributes(height, collection diameter, root volume, and dry matter)were measured and histological blades were made. The water demand of E.saligna was higher than that of C.fissilis and required greater replacement within a shorter period. The rehydration fromΨw=-2 Mpa allowed for a fast recovery of the young C.fissilis plants(Ψw=-1.5,Fv/Fm=0.796),which indicated good physiological plasticity of this species when submitted to water stress at a level that is not severe. The total dry matter allocation was different among species.Seedlings of E.saligna presented the best responses when submitted to a continuous water supply regime, while C.fissilis seedlings presented the best response under intermittent irrigation conditions. | Adriana Maria Griebeler Maristela Machado Araujo Felipe Manzoni Barbosa Paula Letícia Kettenhuber Luciana Samuel Nhantumbo Álvaro Luís Pasquetti Berghetti Luciano Denardi | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,5: | 0 |
| 12 | Morphological, physiological and biochemical traits of Cordia trichotoma under phosphorous application and a water-retaining polymer显示文摘The application of phosphorus(P)and a waterretaining polymer to the soil can increase the availability of P for Cordia trichotoma, having a positive effect on the plants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics of C.trichotoma plants were cultivated in a red argisol and treated with 120,240 and 360 kg P2O5 ha^(−1)and no phosphorous addition as a control,in the presence(5 g L^(−1)per seedling)and absence of a water-retaining polymer.Twentyfour months after planting, survival, height, stem diameter, shoot and root dry matter, leaf area, photosynthetic pigment concentration, chlorophyll a fluorescence, acid phosphatase enzyme activity(APase)and P in tissues and soil were determined. The polymer had no effect on survival and the other parameters. The addition of P increased growth, dry matter production, photosynthetic pigment concentrations, the use of light energy and maximum quantum yield of photosystem II.Plants cultivated in soil with 240 kg P2O5 ha^(−1)application had 4.7 and 5.4 times more shoot and root dry matter, respectively, than control plants. This dosage also showed 52.1%greater photochemical energy use than the control plants.Plants cultivated without the addition of P showed higher activity of the APase enzyme. | Álvaro Luís Pasquetti Berghetti Maristela Machado Araujo Luciane Almeri Tabaldi Felipe Turchetto Suelen Carpenedo Aimi Daniele Guarienti Rorato Carina Marchezan Adriana Maria Griebeler Felipe Manzoni Barbosa Gustavo Brunetto | 2021 | Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,2: | 0 |
