2Microwave Synthesis of Large Few-Layer Graphene Sheets in Aqueous Solution of Ammonia显示文摘Few-layer graphene (FLG) sheets with sizes exceeding several micrometers have been synthesized by exfoliation of expanded graphite in aqueous solution of ammonia under microwave irradiation, with an overall yield approaching 8 wt.%. Transmission electron microscopy (in bright-field and dark-field modes) together with electron diffraction patterns and atomic force microscopy confirmed that this graphene material consisted mostly of mono-, bi- or few-layer graphene (less than ten layers). The high degree of surface reduction was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron and infrared spectroscopies. 3川中丘陵区自然沟渠水体氮磷污染状况评价显示文摘通过对川中丘陵区72条自然沟渠水体氮磷含量特征进行野外调查,并结合综合污染指数法对该区自然沟渠水体氮磷污染状况进行分析评价。结果表明,该区自然沟渠水体TN含量范围在2.09~46.90 mg/L,平均值为5.39 mg/L;TP含量范围在0.04~0.72 mg/L,平均值为0.18 mg/L。居民区沟渠水体氮磷含量明显高于水田沟渠和旱地沟渠。不同类型自然沟渠水体氮磷含量季节变化趋势不同,居民区沟渠旱季(11月)水体氮磷含量均高于雨季(6月),但水田和旱地沟渠旱季水体氮磷含量均低于雨季。综合污染指数分析结果显示,川中丘陵区不同地区自然沟渠水体氮磷综合污染基本处于重度污染的状况。汪涛 龙虹竹 赵原 Matthieu 高美荣 2016山地学报2016,34,2:12
4Role of endoscopy in predicting the disease course in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Endoscopy provides a direct evaluation of mucosal lesions in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),permitting the description of elementary lesions,their surface extent and severity.The severity of mucosal lesions directly reflects disease activity and may help to identify an aggressive behavior of the disease.Several studies have recently pointed out the potential role of endoscopy in the prediction of IBD outcome.Indeed,severe endoscopic lesions in Crohn's disease(CD) patients,defined by deep and extensive ulcerations on at least one part of the colon,are associated with an increased risk of penetrating complication and surgery.Severe endoscopic lesions during severe attacks of ulcerative colitis(UC) are associated with an increased risk of colectomy in the short and long term.Severity of postoperative recurrence in CD may help to predict the risk of clinical relapse and need for further surgery.Achievement of mucosal healing,which can be obtained by administration of several types of drugs,is associated with a better outcome,less surgery and hospitalization.This review focuses on the assessment of endoscopic severity in CD and UC and on the impact of endoscopic severity on disease outcome.More specifically,we discuss how endoscopy can be used at different stages of IBD to predict the disease course and/or to adapt treatment strategies.Matthieu Allez Marc Lémann 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,21:10

8Using experimental data to reduce the single-building sigma of fragility curves:case study of the BRD tower in Bucharest,Romania显示文摘The lack of knowledge concerning modelling existing buildings leads to significant variability in fragility curves for single or grouped existing buildings.This study aims to investigate the uncertainties of fragility curves,with special consideration of the single-building sigma.Experimental data and simplified models are applied to the BRD tower in Bucharest,Romania,a RC building with permanent instrumentation.A three-step methodology is applied:(1)adjustment of a linear MDOF model for experimental modal analysis using a Timoshenko beam model and based on Anderson’s criteria,(2)computation of the structure’s response to a large set of accelerograms simulated by SIMQKE software,considering twelve ground motion parameters as intensity measurements(IM),and(3)construction of the fragility curves by comparing numerical interstory drift with the threshold criteria provided by the Hazus methodology for the slight damage state.By introducing experimental data into the model,uncertainty is reduced to 0.02 considering S d(f1)as seismic intensity IM and uncertainty related to the model is assessed at 0.03.These values must be compared with the total uncertainty value of around0.7 provided by the Hazus methodology.Matthieu Perrault Philippe Gueguen Alexandru Aldea Sorin Demetriu 2013Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2013,12,4:4
9Quality of life, physical performance and nutritional status in older patients hospitalized in a cardiology department显示文摘Objectives Quality of life(QoL) is a priority outcome in older adults suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Frailty and poor nutritional status may affect the QoL through mobility disorders and exhaustion. The objective of this study was to determine if physical frailty and nutritional status were associated with QoL, in older cardiology patients. Methods Cross sectional, observational study conducted in a cardiology department from a university hospital. Participants(n = 100) were aged 70 and older. Collected data included age, sex, cardiac diseases, New York Heart Association(NYHA) classification, comorbidities(Charlson Index) and disability. A Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB), including walking speed assessment was performed;handgrip strength were measured as well as Fried’s frailty phenotype. Nutritional status was assessed using the Mini Nutritional Assessment(MNA) and Body Mass Index(BMI), inflammation by C-reactive protein(CRP). QoL was assessed using the EORTC–QLQ questionnaire. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to study the associations between all recorded parameters and QoL. Results In participants(mean age: 79.3 ± 6.7 years;male: 59%), Charlson index, arrhythmia, heart failure, NYHA class III-IV, MNA, disability, walking speed, SPPB score, frailty and CRP were significantly associated with QoL in univariate analysis. Multivariate analysis showed that NYHA class III-IV(P < 0.001), lower MNA score(P = 0.03), frailty(P < 0.0001), and higher CRP(P < 0.001) were independently associated with decreased QoL. Conclusions Frailty, nutritional status and inflammation were independently associated with poor QoL. 11Fulminant myocarditis in adults: a narrative review显示文摘Fulminant myocarditis(FM)is an uncommon syndrome characterized by sudden and severe hemodynamic compromise secondary to acute myocardial inflammation,often presenting as profound cardiogenic shock,life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and/or electrical storm.FM may be refractory to conventional therapies and require mechanical circulatory support(MCS).The immune system has been recognized as playing a pivotal role in the pathophysiology of myocarditis,leading to an increased focus on immunosuppressive treatment strategies.Recent data have highlighted not only the fact that FM has significantly worse outcomes than non-FM,but that prognosis and management strategies of FM are heavily dependent on histological subtype,placing greater emphasis on the role of endomyocardial biopsy in diagnosis.The impact of subtype on severity and prognosis will likewise influence how aggressively the myocarditis is managed,including whether MCS is warranted.Many patients with refractory cardiogenic shock secondary to FM end up requiring MCS,with venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation demonstrating favorable survival rates,particularly when initiated prior to the development of multiorgan failure.Among the challenges facing the field are the need to more precisely identify immunopathophysiological pathways in order to develop targeted therapies,and the need to better optimize the timing and management of MCS to minimize complications and maximize outcomes.Santiago Montero Darryl Abrams Enrico Ammirati Florent Huang Dirk WDonker Guillaume Hekimian Cosme García-García Antoni Bayes-Genis Alain Combes Matthieu Schmidt 2022Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2022,19,2:3
12Clastic sedimentary features of beachrocks and their palaeo-environmental significance:comparison of past and modern coastal regimes显示文摘Clastic sedimentary features of beachrocks and unconsolidated deposits of parent beaches were investigated along the northern Aegean coastline(Greece) to assess their suitability in palaeo-environmental reconstruction.Twelve paired datasets were collected in the Thermaikos,Toroneos,Siggitikos and lerissos gulfs of the Chalkidiki Peninsula,the adjoining Kavala Gulf and Thassos Island,comprising beachrock cores and companion beach subsurface sediments.Particle size analyses based on univariate and bivariate statistics suggest that,during the time period of beachrock formation,depositional conditions differed distinctly from those of the modern parent beaches.The results imply difference of maturity level of beach evolution from the time of cementation(coarser materials-early stage of beach formation) to modern situation(finer materials-reworked and 'mature' beach sediments).Furthermore,the findings indicate increasing coastal protection due to beachrock exposure in the modern swash zone.In conclusion,it is suggested that textural analysis of beachrocks in comparison with unconsolidated sediments of the parent beach might provide information regarding differences of coastal depositional regimes and future research could focus on specific-layer analysis and comparison.David PSOMIADIS Konstantinos ALBANAKIS Nikoleta ZISI Matthieu GHILARDI Elissavet DOTSIKA 2014International Journal of Sediment Research2014,29,2:3
13Plant phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C at the center of plant innate immunity显示文摘Understanding plant resistance to pathogenic microbes requires detailed information on the molecular mechanisms controlling the execution of plant innate immune responses.A growing body of evidence places phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C(PI-PLC) enzymes immediately downstream of activated immune receptors,well upstream of the initiation of early defense responses.An increase of the cytoplasmic levels of free Ca^(2+),lowering of the intercellular pH and the oxidative burst are a few examples of such responses and these are regulated by PI-PLCs.Consequently,PI-PLC activation represents an early primary signaling switch between elicitation and response involving the controlled hydrolysis of essential signaling phospholipids,thereby simultaneously generating lipid and non-lipid second messenger molecules required for a swift cellular defense response.Here,we elaborate on the signals generated by PI-PLCs and their respective downstream effects,while providing an inventory of different types of evidence describing the involvement of PI-PLCs in various aspects of plant immunity.We project the discussed information into a model describing the cellular events occurring after the activation of plant immune receptors.With this review we aim to provide new insights supporting future research on plant PI-PLCs and the development of plants with improved resistance.Ahmed M.Abd-El-Haliem Matthieu H.A.J.Joosten 2017Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2017,59,3:3

16X-ray-induced radiophotodynamic therapy (RPDT) using lanthanide micelles: Beyond depth limitations显示文摘We report lanthanide-based micelles integrating hypericin (Hyp) for X-ray- triggered photodynamic therapy (PDT). The lanthanide luminescence induced by X-ray irradiation excites the photosensitizer, which leads to the generation of singlet oxygen. 19Visible light photocatalytic bismuth oxide coatings are effective at suppressing aquatic cyanobacteria and degrading free-floating genomic DNA显示文摘Access to safe drinking water free from microbial pollution is an issue of global concern. The use of photocatalytic thin films in water treatment has focused on titanium dioxide, which requires UV-activation, proving a potential barrier to upscaling and implementation in the real world. Visible-light-activated photocatalytic thin films, such as bismuth oxide, have recently been shown to have antimicrobial properties. However, more understanding of the photocatalytic effect on the microbial population in water is required. Glass beads coated with bismuth oxide were incubated with either Microcystis aeruginosa, Anabaena sp. or free-floating genomic DNA. The presence of bismuth oxide-coated glass beads was able to rapidly stop a population of cyanobacteria from increasing. The coated beads were also able to degrade genomic DNA. Leachate from the beads showed no increase in toxicity against human liver cells.
