1Identification and mapping of genes for improving yield from Chinese common wild rice (O.rufipogon Griff.) using advanced backcross QTL analysis显示文摘To identify useful genes from wild rice which have been lost or weakened in cultivated rice has become more and more important for modern breeding strategy. In this study, a BC4 population derived from 94W1, an accession of common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) from Dongxiang in Jiangxi Province of China, as the donor, and a high-yielding Indica cultivar (O. sativa L.), 'Guichao 2', as the recipient, was used to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with yield and its components. Based on the analysis for the genotype of BC4F1 population with 87 SSR markers distributed throughout the genome and investigation of the plant height, yield and yield components of BC4F2, a total of 52 QTLs, were detected. Of 7 QTLs associated with grain yield per plant, 2 QTLs on chromosome 2 and chromosome 11 for grain yield, explaining 16% and 11% of the phenotypic variance respectively, were identified. 2Identification and mapping of quantitative trait loci controlling cold-tolerance of Chinese common wild rice (O. rufipogon Griff.) at booting to flowering stages显示文摘An advanced backcross population of rice was used to identify the quantitative trait locus (QTL) controlling the cold-tolerance at booting to flowering stages. The recipient, Guichao 2 (GC2), was a commercial Indica rice; the donor Dongxiang common wild rice, was an accession of common wild rice (DXCWR, Oryza rufipogon Griff.). Three QTLs for cold-tolerance were detected on chromosomes 1, 6 and 11. Two of them coming from DXCWR could enhance the cold-tolerance of the backcross progenies. 5CRISPR/Cas9-mediated multiple gene editing in Brassica oleracea var.capitata using the endogenous tRNA-processing system显示文摘Cabbage(Brassica oleracea var.capitata)is a biennial plant with strong self-incompatibility and an obligate requirement for prolonged vernalization by exposure to low temperatures to induce flowering.These characteristics significantly increase the difficulty of exploiting novel germplasm induced by physical or chemical mutagens.In this study,we report a CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing system based on endogenous tRNA processing to induce high efficiency and inheritable mutagenesis in cabbage.Using the phytoene desaturase gene BoPDS,the S-receptor kinase gene BoSRK,and the male-sterility-associated gene BoMS1 as the target genes,multisite and multiple gene mutations were achieved using a construct with tandemly arrayed tRNA-sgRNA architecture to express multiple sgRNAs.The BoSRK3 gene mutation suppressed self-incompatibility completely,converting the self-incompatible line into a self-compatible line.In addition,the BoMS1 gene mutation produced a completely male-sterile mutant,which was highly cross compatible with its nonmutant isoline at the flowering stage as a result of a simultaneous BoSRK3 gene mutation,enabling the economic propagation of the male-sterile line through bee-mediated cross-pollination.Interestingly,higher site mutation efficiency was detected when a guide sequence was inserted into a location in the tandemly arrayed tRNA-sgRNA architecture that was distal from the upstream Pol III promoter.In addition,mutation sites were also detected in the paralogous genes of the BoPDS and BoSRK genes that had fully consistent sequences or base mismatches but beyond the“seed”region in the spacer sequence compared with the target sgRNAs.Collectively,our results demonstrate that the CRISPR/Cas9 system,coupled with an endogenous tRNA-processing system,is an efficient tool to improve cabbage traits.Cunfa Ma Chenzeng Zhu Min Zheng Mengci Liu Dejun Zhang Baoli Liu Qinfei Li Jun Si Xuesong Ren Hongyuan Song 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:8
6Dynamical mechanism of the stratospheric quasibiennial oscillation impact on the South China Sea Summer Monsoon显示文摘The National Center for the Atmospheric Research (NCAR) middle atmospheric model is used to study the effects of the quasi-biennial oscillation in the stratosphere (QBO) on the tropopause and uppe troposphere, and the relationship between the QBO and South China Sea Summer Monsoon (SCSSM is explored through NCEP (the National Centers for Environmental Prediction)/NCAR, ECMWF (Euro pean Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) monthly mean wind data and in situ sounding data The simulations show that the QBO-induced residual circulations propagate downwards, and affect the tropopause and upper troposphere during the periods of mid-late QBO phase and phase transition Meanwhile, diagnostic analyses indicate that anomalous circulation similar to SCSSM circulation is generated to strengthen the SCSSM during the easterly phase and anomalous Hadley-like circulation weakens the SCSSM during the westerly. 7Synthesis of ZrAlN coatings with thermal stability at high temperature显示文摘Dry machining will result in elevated temperatures at the tool surface (800—1000℃). So, coating materials that can provide protection for cutting tools at these temperatures are of great technological interests. ZrAlN coating is proposed to possess high-temperature stable structural and mechanical properties due to the addition of the alloying element. ZrAlN coatings were grown using a dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The XRD and nano indenter were employed to investigate the effects of reaction gas partial pressure and substrate bias on structural and mechanical properties, as well as high-temperature stability. The ZrAlN coating, when deposited under optimum conditions (-37 V substrate bias and 2×10-5 Pa N2 partial pressure), showed smooth surface with thermal stable hardness. Its internal stress was relaxed from 2.2 to 0.7 GPa after anneal- ing. 10Colonization of Bacillus cereus NJSZ-13,a species with nematicidal activity in Masson pine(Pinus massoniana Lamb.)显示文摘Bacillus cereus NJSZ-13,an endophytic bacterium with nematicidal activity,was isolated from stems of healthy Pinus elliottii Engelm.Colonization of P.massoniana Lamb.by endophytic B.cereus was studied using scanning electron microscopy and confocal laser scanning microscopy.After the plasmid p GFP78 containing the green fluorescent protein(GFP)gene was transformed into the NJSZ-13 strain,the NJSZ-13:gfp showed the same nematicidal activity and growth curve as the wild-type strain,and the plasmid p GFP78 was stably maintained in strain NJSZ-13 for at least 96 h of bacterial cultivation on medium without antibiotics.After inoculation into Masson pine roots,colonization of the NJSZ-13:gfp strain in plant roots and stems was visualized using confocal laser scanning and the strain was enumerated in inoculated roots and stems.These results suggest that NJSZ-13:gfp is an efficient colonizer of Masson pine and can transfer vertically from roots to stems.Liangliang Li Jiajin Tan Fengmao Chen Dejun Hao 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,3:4

12The mechanism underlying overwintering death in poplar:the cumulative effect of effective freeze-thaw damage显示文摘We analyzed the relationships linking overwintering death and frost cracking to temperature and sunlight as well as the effects of low temperatures and freeze–thaw cycles on bud-burst rates,relative electrical conductivity,and phloem and cambial ultrastructures of poplar.Overwintering death rates of poplar were not correlated with negative accumulated temperature or winter minimum temperature.Freeze–thaw cycles caused more bud damage than constant exposure to low temperatures.Resistance to freeze–thaw cycles differed among clones,and the budburst rate decreased with increasing exposure to freeze–thaw cycles.Cold-resistant clones had the lowest relative electrical conductivity.Chloroplasts exhibited the fastest and the most obvious reaction to freeze–thaw damage,whereas a single freeze–thaw cycle caused little damage to cambium ultrastructure.Several such cycles resulted in damage to plasma membranes,severe damage to organelles,dehydration of cells and cell death.We conclude that overwintering death of poplar is mainly attributed to the accumulation of effective freeze–thaw damage beyond the limits of freeze–thaw resistance.Chengchao Yang Jiandong Peng Xiaoyu Li Dejun Liang Zhiyan Yang Yan Zhang 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,1:4
13The effects of modulation period,modulation ratio,and deposition temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZrB_2/W multilayers显示文摘Monolithic ZrB2,W coatings and ZrB2/W multilayers with different modulation periods and modulation ratios were synthesized by ion beam assisted deposition at room temperature and 400°C.X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM),surface profiler,and nanoindention were employed to investigate the influences of the deposition temperature and the modulation period on the growth,textures,interface structure,and mechanical properties of the multilayers.The results indicated that the multilayer with modulation period of 13 nm synthesized at room temperature possessed a higher hardness of 23.8 GPa.Deposition temperature gave a significant contribution to mechanical property enhancement.The 400°C-deposition temperature led to a maximum hardness and elastic modulus value of 32.1 and 399.1 GPa for ZrB2/W multilayer with a modulation period of 6.7 nm.Its critical load increased to 42.8 mN and residual stress decreased to -0.7 GPa.A higher deposition temperature can cause an increase in interfacial atomic mixture and mobility of surface species,which induceds an increase in areal atomic density and dislocation pinning.These results as well as small nanoscale grain sizes should be related to hardness increase.LIU MengYin,TAN Ming,LIU GuangQing,WANG HaiYuan,XUE FengYing,DENG XiangYun & LI DeJun College of Physics and Electronic Information Science,Tianjin Normal University,Tianjin 300387,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:4
14Experimental and numerical study of coal-rock bimaterial composite bodies under triaxial compression显示文摘To accurately predict coal burst hazards and estimate the failure of coal pillars in underground coal mining systems,it is of great significance to understand the mechanical behavior of coal-rock bimaterial composite structures.This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations on the response of rock-coal,coal-rock,and rock-coal-rock bimaterial composite structures under triaxial compression.The triaxial compression experiments are conducted under confining pressures in the range of 0-20 MPa.The resulting inside fracture networks are detected using X-ray-based computed tomography(CT).The experimentally observed data indicate that the mechanical parameters of the rock-coalrock composites are superior to those of the rock-coal and coal-rock combinations.After compression failure,the coal-rock combination specimens are analyzed via X-ray CT.The results display that the failure of the coal-rock composite bodies primarily takes place within the coal.Further,the bursting proneness is reduced by increasing confining pressure.Subsequently,the corresponding numerical simulations of the experiments are carried out by using the particle flow code.The numerical results reveal that coal is vulnerable with regard to energy storage and accumulation.Yulong Chen Jianping Zuo Dejun Liu Yingjie Li Zhenbo Wang 2021International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2021,8,5:3

16In vitro comparison of the hemocompatibility of diamond-like carbon and carbon nitride coatings with different atomic percentages of N显示文摘Carbon nitride (CNx) and diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings were prepared by dc magnetron sputtering at room temperature. Different partial pressures of N2 were used to synthesize CNx to evaluate the relationship between the atomic percentage of nitrogen and hemocompatibility. Auger electron spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy indicated atomic percentages of N of 0.12 and 0.22 and that the CNx coatings were smooth. An in vitro study of the hemocompatibility of the coatings revealed that both CNx coatings had better anticoagulant properties and lower platelet adhesion than DLC. Compared with CN0.12, the CN0.22 coating showed longer dynamic clotting time (about 42 min), static clotting time (23.6 min) and recalcification time (45.6 s), as well as lower platelet adhesion (102 cells μm 2), aggregation, and activation. 17Aerodynamic characteristics of a high-speed train crossing the wake of a bridge tower from moving model experiments显示文摘In a strong crosswind,the wake of a bridge tower will lead to an abrupt change of the aerodynamic forces acting on a vehicle passing through it,which may result in problems related to the transportation safety.This study investigates the transient aerodynamic characteristics of a high-speed train moving in a truss girder bridge and passing by a bridge tower in a wind tunnel.The scaled ratio of the train,bridge,and tower are 1:30.Effects of various parameters such as the incoming wind speed,train speed,and yaw angle on the aerodynamic performance of the train were considered.Then the sudden change mechanism of aerodynamic loads on the train when it crosses over the tower was further discussed.The results show that the bridge tower has an apparent shielding effect on the train passing through it,with the influencing width being larger than the width of the tower.The train speed is the main factor affecting the influencing width of aerodynamic coefficients,and the mutation amplitude is mainly related to the yaw angle obtained by changing the incoming wind speed or train speed.The vehicle movement introduces an asymmetry of loading on the train in the process of approaching and leaving the wake of the bridge tower,which should not be neglected.Jinfeng Wu Xiaozhen Li C.S.Cai Dejun Liu 2022Railway Engineering Science2022,30,2:3
18Optical fiber SPR biosensor complying with a 3D composite hyperbolic metamaterial and a graphene film显示文摘In the present study, an optical fiber surface plasmon resonance(SPR) biosensor was developed for measuring time-and concentration-dependent DNA hybridization kinetics. Its design complies with a 3D Au∕Al2O3 multilayer composite hyperbolic metamaterial(HMM), a graphene film, and a D-shaped plastic optical fiber.According to the numerical simulation and the experimental demonstration, the SPR peak of the designed biosensor can be effectively altered in the range of visible to near-infrared by varying the HMM structure. The sensitivity of the appliance was shown to achieve a value of up to 4461 nm/RIU, allowing its applicability for bulk refractive index sensing. 19Synthesis of nanoscale multilayered ZrN/W coatings by ion beam assisted deposition显示文摘ZrN/W multilayered coatings with different modulation periods at the nanoscale have been synthesized at different N+ beam bombarding energies using IBAD. Various characterization techniques such as XRD, AES, nano indenter and profiler were employed to investigate the influence of modulation period and bombarding energy on microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings. The results showed that all superlattice coatings had better mechanical properties than the monolithic ZrN and W coatings. At an optimal condition with 300 eV N+ beam bombarding energy and 8―9 nm modulation period, XRD pattern possessed a sig- nificantly structural mixture of strong ZrN (111), W (110), as well as weak ZrN (220) textures in the multilayered coating. 20Overview of development, design, testing and application of compact gas-insulated DC systems up to ±550 kV显示文摘The development of high-voltage direct current gas-insulated switchgear assemblies(DC GIS)of rated voltages up to±550 kV has been completed.DC GIS provide a compact technical solution with a high functional density,optimized for projects with limited space as in offshore HVDC converter platforms,onshore HVDC converter stations and transition stations between different transmission media.Up to now,no standards for testing of gas-insulated DC systems are available,although pre-standardization work is in progress within CIGRE.Some tests can be performed as required in AC GIS standards.Special aspects of DC voltage stress,like the electric field distribution of insulators influenced by the accumulation of electrical charge carriers and the operation-related inhomogeneous temperature distribution,must be considered by additional electric and thermoelectric tests.For DC GIS,the experience of long-term performance is limited today.Although ageing is expected to be of lower importance,tests are recommended.This contribution summarizes the physical and technical background to design and develop compact DC switchgear assemblies using gas-insulated technology.It explains the developed modules of the substation and gives an overview of the performed tests.Furthermore,it provides an insight in the on-going standardization activities and describes applications in converter and transition stations,showing its space-saving characteristics.Maria Kosse Dejun Li Karsten Juhre Mark Kuschel 2019Global Energy Interconnection2019,2,6:2
