5Multiple genetic alterations and behavior of cellular biology in gastric cancer and other gastric mucosal lesions:H.pylori infection,histological types and staging显示文摘AIM To investigate the expression of multiplegenes and the behavior of cellular biology ingastric cancer(GC)and other gastric mucosallesions and their relations to Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)infection,tumor staging andhistological subtypes.METHODS Three hundred and twenty-sevenspecimens of gastric mucosa obtained viaendoscopy or surgical resection,and ABCimmunohistochemical staining were used todetect the expression of p53,p16,Bcl-2 andCOX-2 proteins.H.pylori was determined byrapid urea test combined with pathologicalstaining or14C urea breath test.Cellular image analysis was performed in 66 patients withintestinal metaplasia(IM)and/or dysplasia(Dys).In 30 of them,both cancer and theparacancerous tissues were obtained at the timeof surgery.Histological pattern,tumor staging,lymph node metastasis,grading ofdifferentiation and other clinical data werestudied in the medical records.RESULTS p16 expression of IM or Dys wassignificantly lower in positive H.pylori chronicatrophic gastritis(CAG)than those withnegative H.pylori(CAG:54.8% vs 88.0%,IM:34.4% vs 69.6%,Dys:23.8% vs 53.6%,allP<0.05),Bcl-2 or COX-2 expression of IM orDys in positive H.pylori cases was significantlyhigher than that without H.pylori(Bcl-2:68.8%vs23.9%,90.5% vs 60.7%;COX-2:50.0% vs10.8%,61.8% vs 17.8%;all P<0.05).Themean number of most parameters of cellularimage analysis in positive H.pylori group wassignificantly higher than that in negative H.pylori group(Ellipser:53±14,40±12μm,Area1:748±572,302±202 μm2,Area2:3050±1661,1681±1990 μm2,all P<0.05;Ellipseb:79±23,58±15 μm,Ratio1:22%±5%,13%±4%,Ratio2:79%±17%,53%±20%,all P<0.01).There was significant correlation between Bcl-2and histologic pattern of gastric carcinoma,andbetween COX-2 and tumor staging or lymph nodemetastasis(Bcl-2:75.0% vs 16.7%;COX-2:76.0% vs 20.0%,79.2% vs 16.7%;allP<0.05).CONCLUSION p1l6, Bcl-2, and COX-2 but not p53 gene may play a role in the early genesis/ progression of gastric carcinoma and are associated with H. pylori infection. p53 gene is relatively late event in gastric tumorigenesis and mainly relates to its progression. There is more cellular-biological behavior of malignant tumor in gastric mucosal lesions with H. pylori infection. Aberrant Bcl-2 protein expression appears to be preferentially associated with the intestinal type cancer. 6Fine mapping and candidate gene analysis of a green-revertible albino gene gra(t) in rice显示文摘Green-revertible albino is a novel type of chlorophyll deficiency in rice(Oryza sativa L.), which is helpful for further research in chlorophyll synthesis and chloroplast development to illuminate their molecular mechanism.In the previous study, we had reported a single recessive gene, gra(t), controlling this trait on the long arm of chromosome 2.In this paper, we mapped the gra(t) gene using 1,936 recessive individuals with albino phenotype in the F2 population derived from the cross between themo-photoperiod-sensitive genic male-sterile(T/PGMS) line Pei'ai 64S and the spontaneous mutant Qiufeng M.Eventually, it was located to a confined region of 42.4 kb flanked by two microsatellite markers RM2-97 and RM13553.Based on the annotation results of RiceGAAS system, 11 open reading frames(ORFs) were predicted in this region.Among them, ORF6 was the most possible gene related to chloroplast development, which encoded the chloroplast protein synthesis elongation factor Tu in rice.Therefore, we designated it as the candidate gene of gra(t).Sequence analysis indicated that only one base substitution C to T occurred in the coding region, which caused a missense mutation(Thr to Ile) in gra(t) mutant.These results are very valuable for further study on gra(t) gene.Tao Chen Yadong Zhang Ling Zhao Zhen Zhu Jing Lin Suobing Zhang Cailin Wang 2009Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,2:31

9Engineering a New Chloroplastic Photorespiratory Bypass to In crease Photosynthetic Efficiency and Productivity in Rice显示文摘Over the past few years, three photorespiratory bypasses have been introduced into plants, two of which led to observable in creases in photos yn thesis and biomass yield. However, most of the experiments were carried out using Arabidopsis under controlled environmental conditions, and the increases were only observed under low-light and short-day conditions. In this study, we designed a new photorespiratory bypass (called GOC bypass), characterized by no reducing equivalents being produced during a complete oxidation of glycolate into CO2 catalyzed by three rice-self-originating enzymes, i.e., glycolate oxidase, oxalate oxidase, and catalase. We successfully established this bypass in rice chloroplasts using a multi-gene assembly and transformation system. Transgenic rice plants carrying GOC bypass (GOC plants) showed significant increases in photosynthesis efficiency, biomass yield, and nitrogen content, as well as several other CO2-enriched phe no types under both greenhouse and field conditions .Grain yield of GOC plants varied depending on seeding season and was increased significantly in the spring. We further demonstrated that GOC plants had significant advantages under high-light conditions and that the improvements in GOC plants resulted primarily from a photosynthetic CO2-concentrating effect rather than from improved energy balance. 12The South China Sea is not a mini-Atlantic: plate-edge rifting vs intra-plate rifting显示文摘The South China Sea,as‘a non-volcanic passive margin basin’in the Pacific,has often been considered as a small-scale analogue of the Atlantic.The recent ocean drilling in the northern South China Sea margin found,however,that the Iberian model of non-volcanic rifted margin from the Atlantic does not apply to the South China Sea.In this paper,we review a variety of rifted basins and propose to discriminate two types of rifting basins:plate-edge type such as the South China Sea and intra-plate type like the Atlantic.They not only differ from each other in structure,formation process,lifespan and geographic size,but also occur at different stages of the Wilson cycle.The intra-plate rifting occurred in the Mesozoic and gave rise to large oceans,whereas the plate-edge rifting took place mainly in the mid-Cenozoic,with three-quarters of the basins concentrated in the Western Pacific.As a member of the Western Pacific system of marginal seas,the South China Sea should be studied not in isolation on its origin and evolution,but in a systematic context to include also its neighboring counterparts.Pinxian Wang Chi-Yue Huang Jian Lin Zhimin Jian Zhen Sun Minghui Zhao 2019National Science Review2019,6,5:24

16Moisture transfer resistance method for liquid desiccant dehumidification analysis and optimization显示文摘The concepts of entransy, entransy dissipation and transfer resistance are introduced into liquid desiccant dehumidification analysis to reveal the irreversibility and moisture transfer resistance between moist air and liquid desiccant.By analyzing a typical water (vapor) transfer process coupled with heat transfer, we define the concepts of mass entransy of water and its dissipation, derive the expression of moisture transfer resistance (MTR) that reflects the irreversibility of water transfer during dehumidification processes, and also point out the relationship between MTR and dehumidification performance. With these concepts, both adiabatic and internal cooling liquid desiccant dehumidification systems with various operation conditions are analyzed and optimized. It is found that for the adiabatic dehumidification system, increasing the mass transfer coefficient leads to the reduction of MTR, and consequently, the improvement of dehumidification performance. Meanwhile, for the dehumidification system with internal cooling, in order to reduce the MTR and improve the dehumidification performance, pre-cooling should be centralized ahead of the liquid desiccant inlet when the flow rates ratio of air to desiccant is small, whereas, uniform cooling should be applied when the flow rates ratio of air to desiccant is large.CHEN Lin CHEN Qun LI Zhen GUO ZengYuan 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,14:20

18Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. 19Intravenous injection of Xuebijing attenuates acute kidney injury in rats with paraquat intoxication显示文摘BACKGROUND: The study aimed to investigate the therapeutic benefits of intravenous Xuebijing on acute kidney injury(AKI) in rats with paraquat intoxication.METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided equally into three groups: sham group(n=8), paraquat group(n=8) and Xuebijing-treated group(n=8) using a random number table. The rats were intraperitoneally injected with 50 mg/kg of paraquat. One hour after paraquat administration, the rats were treated intravenously with Xuebijing(8 mL /kg). At 12 hours after paraquat administration, serum was collected to evaluate kidney function, then the rats were sacrificed and kidney samples were immediately harvested. AKI scores were evaluated by renal histopathology and pro-in? ammatory cytokines mR NA levels in kidney were assayed using real-time RT-PCR.RESULTS: Serum urea nitrogen, creatinine and AKI scores were significantly higher in the paraquat group, compared with the sham group(P<0.05, respectively). Moreover, interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α m RNA levels were signi? cantly higher in the paraquat group(P<0.01, respectively). However, intravenous Xuebijing signi? cantly decreased serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, AKI scores and IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α m RNA levels, compared with the paraquat group(P<0.05, respectively).CONCLUSION: Intravenous Xuebijing attenuates AKI following paraquat poisoning by suppressing in? ammatory response.Jia-jun Xu Jian-tao Zhen Li Tang Qing-ming Lin 2017World Journal of Emergency Medicine2017,8,1:19
