| 1 | Prediction of undrained shear strength using extreme gradient boosting and random forest based on Bayesian optimization显示文摘Accurate assessment of undrained shear strength(USS)for soft sensitive clays is a great concern in geotechnical engineering practice.This study applies novel data-driven extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)and random forest(RF)ensemble learning methods for capturing the relationships between the USS and various basic soil parameters.Based on the soil data sets from TC304 database,a general approach is developed to predict the USS of soft clays using the two machine learning methods above,where five feature variables including the preconsolidation stress(PS),vertical effective stress(VES),liquid limit(LL),plastic limit(PL)and natural water content(W)are adopted.To reduce the dependence on the rule of thumb and inefficient brute-force search,the Bayesian optimization method is applied to determine the appropriate model hyper-parameters of both XGBoost and RF.The developed models are comprehensively compared with three comparison machine learning methods and two transformation models with respect to predictive accuracy and robustness under 5-fold cross-validation(CV).It is shown that XGBoost-based and RF-based methods outperform these approaches.Besides,the XGBoostbased model provides feature importance ranks,which makes it a promising tool in the prediction of geotechnical parameters and enhances the interpretability of model. | Wengang Zhang Chongzhi Wu Haiyi Zhong Yongqin Li Lin Wang | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,1: | 33 |

| 3 | miRNA-711-SP1-collagen-I pathway is involved in the anti-fibrotic effect of pioglitazone in myocardial infarction显示文摘Although microRNAs(miRNAs) have been intensively studied in cardiac fibrosis,their roles in drug-mediated anti-fibrotic therapy are still unknown.Previously,Pioglitazone attenuated cardiac fibrosis and increased miR-711 experimentally.We aimed to explore the role and mechanism of miR-711 in pioglitazone-treated myocardial infarction in rats.Our results showed that pioglitazone significantly reduced collagen-I levels and increased miR-711 expression in myocardial infarction heart.Pioglitazone increased the expression of miR-711 in cardiac fibroblasts,and overexpression of miR-711 suppressed collagen-I levels in angiotensin II(Ang II)-treated or untreated cells.Transfection with antagomir-711 correspondingly abolished the pioglitazone-induced reduction in collagen-I levels.Bioinformatics analysis identified SP1,which directly promotes collagen-I synthesis,as the putative target of miR-711.This was confirmed by luciferase assay and western blot analysis.Additionally,increased SP1 expression was attenuated by pioglitazone in myocardial infarction heart.Furthermore,transfection of antagomir-711 attenuated pioglitazone-reduced SP1 expression in cardiac fibroblasts with or without Ang II stimulation.We conclude that pioglitazone up-regulated miR-711 to reduce collagen-I levels in rats with myocardial infarction.The miR-711-SP1-collagen-I pathway may be involved in the anti-fibrotic effects of pioglitazone.Our findings may provide new strategies for miRNA-based anti-fibrotic drug research. | ZHAO Na YU HaiYi YU HaiTao SUN Min ZHANG YouYi XU Ming GAO Wei | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,5: | 9 |

| 5 | Genome-wide variants of Eurasian facial shape differentiation and a prospective model of DNA based face prediction显示文摘It is a long-standing question as to which genes define the characteristic facial features among different ethnic groups. In this study, we use Uyghurs, an ancient admixed population to query the genetic bases why Europeans and Han Chinese look different. Facial traits were analyzed based on high-dense 3D facial images; numerous biometric spaces were examined for divergent facial features between European and Han Chinese, ranging from inter-landmark distances to dense shape geometrics. Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) were conducted on a discovery panel of Uyghurs. Six significant loci were identified, four of which, rs1868752, rs118078182, rs60159418 at or near UBASH3B, COL23A1, PCDH7 and rs17868256 were replicated in independent cohorts of Uyghurs or Southern Han Chinese. | 6 | Genome editing in Drosophila melanogaster: from basic genome engineering to the multipurpose CRISPR-Cas9 system显示文摘Nowadays, genome editing tools are indispensable for studying gene function in order to increase our knowledge of biochemical processes and disease mechanisms. The extensive availability of mutagenesis and transgenesis tools make Drosophila melanogaster an excellent model organism for geneticists. Early mutagenesis tools relied on chemical or physical methods,ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS) and X-rays respectively, to randomly alter DNA at a nucleotide or chromosomal level. Since the discovery of transposable elements and the availability of the complete fly genome, specific genome editing tools, such as P-elements, zinc-finger nucleases(ZFNs) and transcription activator-like effector nucleases(TALENs), have undergone rapid development. Currently, one of the leading and most effective contemporary tools is the CRISPR-cas9 system made popular because of its low cost, effectiveness, specificity and simplicity of use. | 7 | De novo assembly of a Tibetan genome and identification of novel structural variants associated with high-altitude adaptation显示文摘Structural variants(SVs) may play important roles in human adaptation to extreme environments such as high altitude but have been under-investigated. Here, combining long-read sequencing with multiple scaffolding techniques, we assembled a high-quality Tibetan genome(ZF1), with a contig N50 length of 24.57 mega-base pairs(Mb) and a scaffold N50 length of 58.80 Mb. The ZF1 assembly filled 80 remaining N-gaps(0.25 Mb in total length) in the reference human genome(GRCh38). Markedly, we detected17 900 SVs, among which the ZF1-specific SVs are enriched in GTPase activity that is required for activation of the hypoxic pathway. Further population analysis uncovered a 163-bp intronic deletion in the MKL1 gene showing large divergence between highland Tibetans and lowland Han Chinese. This deletion is significantly associated with lower systolic pulmonary arterial pressure, one of the key adaptive physiological traits in Tibetans. Moreover, with the use of the high-quality de novo assembly, we observed a much higher rate of genome-wide archaic hominid(Altai Neanderthal and Denisovan) shared non-reference sequences in ZF1(1.32%–1.53%) compared to other East Asian genomes(0.70%–0.98%),reflecting a unique genomic composition of Tibetans. One such archaic hominid shared sequence-a662-bp intronic insertion in the SCUBE2 gene-is enriched and associated with better lung function(the FEV1/FVC ratio) in Tibetans. | 12 | Application of Matter-element Model in Soil Nutrient Evaluation of Ecological Fragile Region显示文摘On the basis of the soil environment investigation in Da′an City, Jilin Province, China, 40 soil samples from main land use types were obtained and tested by standard method. Soil organic matter (SOM), total N (TN), total P (TP), total K (TK), available N (AN), available P (AP) and available K (AK) were chosen as the evaluation factors. A regional soil nutrient evaluation model was developed based on the matter-element model. The results show that the soil samples with nutrient grade Ⅱ–Ⅴ respectively account for 10%, 30%, 32.5% and 27.5%, and those with grade Ⅳ and Ⅴ account for 60% in all samples. The relationship between soil nutrients and land types indicates that the nutrients of farmland are relatively good, with 41.7% of soil samples with the nutrient grade Ⅳ and Ⅴ. The nutrients of saline-alkali land and sandy land are the worst, with 100% of soil samples with the nutrient grade Ⅳ and Ⅴ. And the ratios of soil samples grade Ⅳ and Ⅴ in grassland and wasteland are respectively 62.5 % and 54.55%. Generally speaking, the soil nutrients status in Da′an City is poor, 60% of soil samples are in poor and extremely poor conditions, indicating that the soil has been severely eroded. | 15 | Study on properties of ultra-low dielectric loss mPPO/MTCLT composites prepared by injection molding显示文摘A novel category of polyphenylene oxide/high-impact polystyrene(PPO/HIPS)alloy was used as the polymer matrix(abbreviated as mPPO)and loaded with different volume fractions(0,10,20,30,40,50 vol.%)of MgTiO_(3)-Ca_(0.7)La_(0.2)TiO_(3)(abbreviated as MTCLT)ceramics to prepare composites by injection molding.Its micromorphology,density,dielectric,thermal and mechanical properties were analyzed in detail.The experimental results show that the composites possess a compact microstructure because HIPS increases the fluidity of PPO.Due to the excellent dielectric properties of both mPPO and MTCLT,the composites have an extremely low dielectric loss.The realization of the high ceramic filler fraction greatly limits the thermal expansion of the polymer chain by introducing the interphase,so that the coefficient of thermal expansion of the composite material could be as low as 21.8 ppm/°C.At the same time,the presence of ceramic particles could reinforce the mechanical property of the compos-ites.When the ceramic filler fraction is higher than 20 vol.%,the bending strength of the composite material is around 110 MPa.When the ceramic filler fraction is 40 vol.%,the composite possesses the best comprehensive performance.The dielectric constant is 6.81,the dielectric loss is 0.00104,the thermal expansion coefficient is as low as 25.3 ppm/°C,and the bending strength is 110.4 MPa.Due to its excellent properties,this material can be a good candidate in the field of microwave communication. | Yahan Liu Haiyi Peng Xiaogang Yao Minmin Mao Kaixin Song Huixing Lin | 2022 | Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2022,12,3: | 1 |
