1Genome-wide variants of Eurasian facial shape differentiation and a prospective model of DNA based face prediction显示文摘It is a long-standing question as to which genes define the characteristic facial features among different ethnic groups. In this study, we use Uyghurs, an ancient admixed population to query the genetic bases why Europeans and Han Chinese look different. Facial traits were analyzed based on high-dense 3D facial images; numerous biometric spaces were examined for divergent facial features between European and Han Chinese, ranging from inter-landmark distances to dense shape geometrics. Genome-wide association studies(GWAS) were conducted on a discovery panel of Uyghurs. Six significant loci were identified, four of which, rs1868752, rs118078182, rs60159418 at or near UBASH3B, COL23A1, PCDH7 and rs17868256 were replicated in independent cohorts of Uyghurs or Southern Han Chinese. 2Research Data Management Implementation at Peking University Library:Foster and Promote Open Science and Open Data显示文摘Research Data Management(RDM)has become increasingly important for more and more academic institutions.Using the Peking University Open Research Data Repository(PKU-ORDR)project as an example,this paper will review a library-based university-wide open research data repository project and related RDM services implementation process including project kickoff,needs assessment,partnerships establishment,software investigation and selection,software customization,as well as data curation services and training.Through the review,some issues revealed during the stages of the implementation process are also discussed and addressed in the paper such as awareness of research data,demands from data providers and users,data policies and requirements from home institution,requirements from funding agencies and publishers,the collaboration between administrative units and libraries,and concerns from data providers and users.The significance of the study is that the paper shows an example of creating an Open Data repository and RDM services for other Chinese academic libraries planning to implement their RDM services for their home institutions.The authors of the paper have also observed since the PKU-ORDR and RDM services implemented in 2015,the Peking University Library(PKUL)has helped numerous researchers to support the entire research life cycle and enhanced Open Science(OS)practices on campus,as well as impacted the national OS movement in China through various national events and activities hosted by the PKUL.Hua Nie Pengcheng Luo Ping Fu 2021Data Intelligence2021,3,1:5

4Characterization of novel microsatellite markers of the Emei Shan Liocichla using restriction site-associated DNA sequencing显示文摘Background:The Emei Shan Liocichla(Liocichla omeiensis) is an endemic bird species to southwestern China with a small geographic range. However, little was known about the genetic status of this threatened species.Methods:We applied restriction-site-associated DNA sequencing(RAD-Seq) for rapid mass identification of microsatellite markers of the Emei Shan Liocichla.Results:A total of 11,564 microsatellite sequences were obtained, 600 random loci were designed for screening and 24 polymorphic microsatellite loci were selected for further validation. The average allele number, average observed heterozygosity and average expected heterozygosity were relatively low in our samples, which were 6.08, 0.6618 and 0.7048, respectively, indicating that the Emei Shan Liocichla might have lost some genetic diversity. 13Auction mechanism design of the Chinese national carbon market for carbon neutralization显示文摘The carbon market auction mechanism is an important policy tool for carbon pricing and a key mechanism that supports carbon emission neutralization,especially for China.A few systematic studies exist on China’s carbon market auction mechanism.This article focuses on the five auction mechanisms in Chinese pilot emission trading schemes(ETS),reviews the structures and bidding situation of the five-pilot auction mechanism,extracts the similarities,and analyzes their different features,such as auction mode,bidding scale,participants,pricing mode,auction frequency,and so on.This study conducts an in-depth analysis of the carbon allowance auction mechanism in the Guangdong pilot ETS of China,including its development and the evolution of the key elements,its operational effects,and related disputes.Finally,this study puts forward the trend forecast and suggestions for the Chinese allowance auction mechanism,such as the time window of launching national allowance auctions,the most likely auction mode,carbon pricing,and bidding revenue management.Carbon pricing by auction is the most powerful policy tool for addressing carbon emissions reduction and implementing the Glasgow Climate Pact.Wenjun Wang Xujie Zhao Qiaqia Zhang Chonghui Fu Pengcheng Xie 2022Chinese Journal of Population,Resources and Environment2022,20,2:0
14Antioxidant procyanidin B2 protects oocytes against cryoinjuries via mitochondria regulated cortical tension显示文摘Background:Irreversible cryodamage caused by oocyte vitrification limited its wild application in female fertility preservation.Antioxidants were always used to antagonist the oxidative stress caused by vitrification.However,the comprehensive mechanism underlying the protective role of antioxidants has not been studied.Procyanidin B2(PCB2)is a potent natural antioxidant and its functions in response to vitrification are still unknown.In this study,the effects of PCB2 on vitrified-thawed oocytes and subsequent embryo development were explored,and the mechanisms underlying the protective role of PCB2 were systematically elucidated.Results:Vitrification induced a marked decline in oocyte quality,while PCB2 could improve oocyte viability and further development after parthenogenetic activation.A subsequent study indicated that PCB2 effectively attenuated vitrification-induced oxidative stress,rescued mitochondrial dysfunction,and improved cell viability.Moreover,PCB2 also acts as a cortical tension regulator apart from strong antioxidant properties.Increased cortical tension caused by PCB2 would maintain normal spindle morphology and promote migration,ensure correct meiosis progression and finally reduce the aneuploidy rate in vitrified oocytes.Further study reveals that ATP biosynthesis plays a crucial role in cortical tension regulation,and PCB2 effectively increased the cortical tension through the electron transfer chain pathway.Additionally,PCB2 would elevate the cortical tension in embryo cells at morula and blastocyst stages and further improve blastocyst quality.What's more,targeted metabolomics shows that PCB2 has a beneficial effect on blastocyst formation by mediating saccharides and amino acids metabolism.Conclusions:Antioxidant PCB2 exhibits multi-protective roles in response to vitrification stimuli through mitochondria-mediated cortical tension regulation.Qingrui Zhuan Jun Li Xingzhu Du Luyao Zhang Lin Meng Yuwen Luo Dan Zhou Hongyu Liu Pengcheng Wan Yunpeng Hou Xiangwei Fu 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,1:0

18Multilocus phylogeography and ecological niche modeling suggest speciation with gene flow between the two Bamboo Partridges显示文摘Background:Understanding how species diversify is a long-standing question in biology.The allopatric speciation model is a classic hypothesis to explain the speciation process.This model supposes that there is no gene flow during the divergence process of geographically isolated populations.On the contrary,the speciation with gene flow model supposes that gene flow does occur during the speciation process.Whether allopatric species have gene flow during the speciation process is still an open question.Methods:We used the genetic information from 31 loci of 24 Chinese Bamboo Partridges(Bambusicola thoracicus)and 23 Taiwan Bamboo Partridges(B.sonorivox)to infer the gene flow model of the two species,using the approxi-mate Bayesian computation(ABC)model.The ecological niche model was used to infer the paleo-distribution during the glacial period.We also tested whether the two species had a conserved ecological niche by means of a back-ground similarity test.Results:The genetic data suggested that the post-divergence gene flow between the two species was terminated before the mid-Pleistocene.Furthermore,our ecological niche modeling suggested that their ecological niches were highly conserved,and that they shared an overlapping potential distribution range in the last glacial maximum.Conclusions:The allopatric speciation model cannot explain the speciation process of the two Bamboo Partridges.The results of this study supported a scenario in which speciation with gene flow occurring between the allopatric species and have contributed to our understanding of the speciation process.Pengcheng Wang Chiafen Yeh Jiang Chang Hongyan Yao Yiqiang Fu Chengte Yao Xiao Wang Shouhsien Li Zhengwang Zhang 2021Avian Research2021,12,2:0
19Comparative metagenomic analysis of the vaginal microbiome in healthy women显示文摘The composition of these vaginal microbiome has a significant impact on women’s health.However,few studies have characterized the vaginal microbiome of healthy Chinese women using metagenomic sequencing.Here,we carried out a comparative metagenomic analysis to survey taxonomic,functional levels,and microbial communities’genome content in healthy women’s vaginal microbiome.Overall,we observed a total of 111 species,including all dominant vaginal Lactobacillus species,such as L.iners,L.crispatus,L.gasseri,and L.jensenii.Unlike microbial taxa,several pathways were ubiquitous and prevalent across individuals,including adenosine ribonucleotides de novo biosynthesis and pyruvate fermentation to acetate and lactate Ⅱ.Notably,our diversity analysis confirmed a significant difference in healthy women from different ethnic groups.Moreover,we binned vaginal assemblies into 62 high-quality genomes,including 9 L.iners,7 A.vaginae,5 L.jensenii,and 5 L.crispatus.We identified the pan and core genomes of L.iners and A.vaginae and revealed the genetic diversity.Primary differences between strains were the hypothetical genes and mobile element-like genes.Our results provide a framework for understanding the implications of the female reproductive tract’s composition and functional potential and highlight the importance of genome-resolved metagenomic analysis to further understand the human vaginal microbiome.Fei Liu Yingshun Zhou Lisi Zhu Zhiyi Wang LiangKun Ma Yuan He Pengcheng Fu 2021Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,2:0
