2Climatic Warming and Humidification in the Arid Region of Northwest China: Multi-Scale Characteristics and Impacts on Ecological Vegetation显示文摘The climatic warming and humidification observed in the arid region of Northwest China(ARNC) and their impacts on the ecological environment have become an issue of concern. The associated multi-scale characteristics and environmental responses are currently poorly understood. Using data from satellite remote sensing, field observations, and the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6, this paper systematically analyzes the process and scale characteristics of the climatic warming and humidification in the ARNC and their impacts on ecological vegetation. The results show that not only have temperature and precipitation increased significantly in the ARNC over the past 60 years, but the increasing trend of precipitation is also obviously intensifying. The dryness index, which comprehensively considers the effects of precipitation and temperature, has clearly decreased, and the trend in humidification has increased. Spatially, the trend of temperature increase has occurred over the entire region, while 93.4% of the region has experienced an increase in precipitation, suggesting a spatially consistent climatic warming and humidification throughout the ARNC. Long-term trends and interannual changes in temperature and precipitation dominate the changes in climatic warming and humidification. Compared to interannual variations in temperature, the trend change of temperature contributes more to the overall temperature change. However, the contribution of interannual variations in precipitation is greater than that of the precipitation trend to the overall precipitation change. The current climatic warming and humidification generally promote the growth of ecological vegetation. Since the 1980 s,82.4% of the regional vegetation has thrived. The vegetation index has a significant positive correlation with precipitation and temperature. However, it responds more significantly to interannual precipitation variation, although the vegetation response varies significantly under different types of land use. The warming and humidification of the climate in the ARNC are probably related to intensifications of the westerly wind circulation and ascending air motions.They are expected to continue in the future, although the strength of the changes will probably be insufficient to significantly change the basic climate pattern in the ARNC. 3The global oxygen budget and its future projection显示文摘Atmospheric oxygen (O_2 ) is the most crucial element on earth for the aerobic organisms that depend on it to release energy from carbon-based macromolecules. This is the first study to systematically analyze the global O_2 budget and its changes over the past 100 years. It is found that anthropogenic fossil fuel combustion is the largest contributor to the current O_2 deficit, which consumed 2.0 Gt/a in 1900 and has increased to 38.2 Gt/a by 2015. Under the Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) RCP8.5 scenario, approximately 100Gt (gigatonnes) of O_2 would be removed from the atmosphere per year until 2100,and the O_2 concentration will decrease from its current level of 20.946%to 20.825%. Human activities have caused irreversible decline of atmospheric O_2 . 6Detection of the critical micelle concentration of cationic and anionic surfactants based on aggregation-induced emission property of hexaphenylsilole derivatives显示文摘We report a fluorescence 'turn-on' method to detect the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of surfactants. This method works well for both cationic and anionic surfactants. It employs an unprecedented mechanism (aggregation-induced emission, or AIE) to determine the CMC values, and the results are consistent with the data obtained by the classical techniques. In addition, this method renders the convenient detection of the CMC values. Any large and professional instruments are unnecessary, instead, a portable UV lamp and an ultrasonic generator are enough to carry out the detection in an ordinary laboratory. Considering that micelles are interesting entities and have found applications in many important fields such as emulsion polymerization, template of nanosized materials synthesis, controllable drug delivery and macromolecular self-assembling. 7Adaptive Gaussian sum squared-root cubature Kalman filter with split-merge scheme for state estimation显示文摘The paper deals with state estimation problem of nonlinear non-Gaussian discrete dynamic systems for improvement of accuracy and consistency. An efficient new algorithm called the adaptive Gaussian-sum square-root cubature Kalman filter(AGSSCKF) with a split-merge scheme is proposed. It is developed based on the squared-root extension of newly introduced cubature Kalman filter(SCKF) and is built within a Gaussian-sum framework. Based on the condition that the probability density functions of process noises and initial state are denoted by a Gaussian sum using optimization method, a bank of SCKF are used as the sub-filters to estimate state of system with the corresponding weights respectively, which is adaptively updated. The new algorithm consists of an adaptive splitting and merging procedure according to a proposed split-decision model based on the nonlinearity degree of measurement. 9Stability Analysis on Rotor Systems Supported by Self-acting Tilting-pad Gas Bearings with Frequency Effects显示文摘The recent research on stability of gas bearing-rotor systems still mostly adopts the same method as in oil-lubricated bearing-rotor systems.The dynamic coefficients of gas bearings in the case that the perturbation frequencies are same as the rotating speed are used to carry out the stability analysis of rotor systems.This method does not contact the frequency characteristics of dynamic stiffness and damping coefficients of gas bearings with the dynamical behaviors of rotor systems.Furthermore,the effects of perturbation frequencies on the stability of systems are not taken into account.In this paper,the dynamic stiffness and damping coefficients of tilting-pad gas bearings are calculated by the partial derivative method.On the base of solution of dynamic coefficients,two computational models are produced for stability analysis on rotor systems supported by tilting-pad gas bearings according to whether the degrees of the freedom of pads tilting motions are included in the equations of motion or not.In the condition of considering the frequency effects of dynamic coefficients of tilting-pad gas bearings,the corresponding eigenvalues of the rigid and first five vibration modes of the system with the working speeds of 8-30 kr/min are computed through iteratively solving the equations of motion of rotor-system by using two computational models,respectively.According to the obtained eigenvalues,the stability of rotor system is analyzed.The results indicate that the eigenvalues and the stability of rotor system obtained by these two computational models are well agreement each other.They all can more accurately analyze the stability of rotor systems supported by tilting-pad gas bearings.This research has important meaning for perfecting the stability analysis method of rotor systems supported by gas bearings.YANG Lihua QI Shemiao GENG Haipeng YU Lie 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,3:4

11Changes of Extreme Precipitation and its Associated Mechanisms in Northwest China显示文摘Characterized by scarce water resources and fragile ecosystems,Northwest China(NWC)has experienced a climate shift from warm-dry to warm-wet conditions since the 1980s that has garnered extensive concern in recent years.In this study,the variability in extreme precipitation(EP)during 1961-2016 in different climate zones of NWC and the possible mechanisms for this variation are investigated.The results show that the EP trends significantly increased in most of the westerly zone(WZ)and plateau zone(PZ),while the EP trends did not significantly decrease in the monsoon zone(MZ).The start dates of extreme precipitation(SDEP)and end dates of extreme precipitation(EDEP)advanced and were postponed,respectively,in the WZ and PZ,while the opposite occurred in the MZ.Summer atmospheric circulation,water vapor transport,and atmospheric instability over NWC varied greatly with the interdecadal shift in EP before and after 1986.During 1986-2016,upper-level divergence and lower-level convergence occurred in the MZ and PZ,which strengthened ascending flow.In addition,the summer water vapor and atmospheric instability increased in the WZ and PZ.These characteristics created favorable conditions for increased occurrences of EP in the WZ and PZ in summer.Conversely,the upper-level convergence and lower-level divergence in the MZ strengthened descending flow.Decreases in summer water vapor and atmospheric instability occurred in the MZ after 1986.Hence,the environmental conditions in the MZ may have prevented the occurrence and development of EP in summer during 1986-2016.Shan LU Zeyong HU Haipeng YU Weiwei FAN Chunwei FU Di WU 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,10:4
12Experimental and analytical study on seismic behavior of steel-concrete multienergy dissipation composite shear walls显示文摘In this paper, a steel-concrete multi-energy dissipation composite shear wall, comprised of steel-reinforced concrete(SRC) columns, steel plate(SP) deep beams, a concrete wall and energy dissipation strips, is proposed. In order to study the multi-energy dissipation behavior and restorability after an earthquake, two stages of low cyclic loading tests were carried out on ten test specimens. In the first stage, test on five specimens with different number of SP deep beams was carried out, and the test lasted until the displacement drift reached 2%. In the second stage, thin SPs were welded to both sides of the five specimens tested in the first stage, and the same test was carried out on the repaired specimens(designated as new specimens). The load-bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, hysteretic behavior and failure characteristics were analyzed for both stages and the results are discussed herein. Extrapolating from these results, strength calculation models and formulas are proposed herein and simulations using ABAQUS carried out; they show good agreement with the test results. The study demonstrates that SRC columns, SP deep beams, concrete wall and energy dissipation strips cooperate well and play an important role in energy dissipation. 13First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. 14A generalized solution of elasto-aerodynamic lubrication for aerodynamic compliant foil bearings显示文摘Although aerodynamic compliant foil bearings are successfully applied in a number of turbo-machineries, theoretical researches on the modeling, performance prediction of compliant foil bearings and the dynamic analysis of the related rotor system seem still far behind the experimental investigation because of structural complexity of the foil bearings. A generalized solution of the elasto-aerodynamic lubrication is presented in this paper by introducing both static and dynamic deformations of foils and solving gas-lubricated Reynolds equations with deformation equations simultaneously. The solution can be used for the calculation of dynamic stiffness and damping, as well as the prediction of static performances of foil bearings. 15Genomic consequences of population decline in critically endangered pangolins and their demographic histories显示文摘Pangolins are among the most critically endangered animals due to heavy poaching and worldwide trafficking.However,their demographic histories and the genomic consequences of their recent population declines remain unknown.We generated high-quality de novo reference genomes for critically endangered Malayan(Manis javanica,MJ)and Chinese(M.pentadactyla,MP)pangolins and re-sequencing population genomic data from 74 MJs and 23 MPs.We recovered the population identities of illegally traded pangolins and previously unrecognized genetic populations that should be protected as evolutionarily distinct conservation units.Demographic reconstruction suggested environmental changes have resulted in a population size fluctuation of pangolins.Additionally,recent population size declines due to human activities have resulted in an increase in inbreeding and genetic load.Deleterious mutations were enriched in genes related to cancer/diseases and cholesterol homeostasis,which may have increased their susceptibility to diseases and decreased their survival potential to adapt to environmental changes and high-cholesterol diets.This comprehensive study provides not only high-quality pangolin reference genomes,but also valuable information concerning the driving factors of long-term population size fluctuations and the genomic impact of recent population size declines due to human activities,which is essential for pangolin conservation management and global action planning.Jing-Yang Hu Zi-Qian Hao Laurent Frantz Shi-Fang Wu Wu Chen Yun-Fang Jiang Hong Wu Wei-Min Kuang Haipeng Li Ya-Ping Zhang Li Yu 2020National Science Review2020,7,4:3

17The Effect of the MDM2-p53 Loop on the Sensitivity of Ovarian Cancer Cells to Cisplatin显示文摘OBJECTIVE To explore whether MDM2 transfection can alter the MDM2-p53 autoregulatory feedback loop so as to change the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cell lines to cisplatin. METHODS The ovarian cancer cell line A2780 expressing wild-type P53 and the ovarian cancer cell line SKOV-3 with the p53 null type were stably transfected with pCMV-MDM2 or pCMV as a control. The blocked expression of P53 was determined by Western blots. Cytotoxicity was assessed using the MTT assay and the trypan blue exclusion assay. Flow cytometry was used to detect changes in the cell cycle and removal of platinum -DNA adducts was measured by atomic absorption spec-troscopy. RESULTS (1) Parental A2780 and A2780-V cells (IC50= 15.14±1.39 μmol) have similar cisplatin sensitivities, whereas sensitivity to cisplatin in A2780-M cells (IC50=7.98±1.32 μmol) was 2 to 3 fold greater (P=0.001). The trypan blue exclusion assay demonstrated that cisplatin killed a higher percentage of A2780-M cells compared to A2780-V cells. There was no significant change following MDM2 transfection in SKOV-3 cells. (2) After cisplatin treatment, A2780-M cells showed a pronounced S-phase arrest, however, A2780 cells with the intact wild-type P53, arrested primarily at the G2/M transition. (3) Platinum uptake was similar for all of the A2780 cell lines after ciaplatin treatment, but the removal of plat-inum-DNA adducts was reduced in the A2780-M cells compared with A2780-V cells. 18A Novel Time-aware Frame Adjustment Strategy for RFID Anti-collision显示文摘Recently,object identification with radio frequency identification(RFID)technology is becoming increasingly popular.Identification time is a key performance metric to evaluate the RFID system.The present paper analyzes the deficiencies of the state-of-the-arts algorithms and proposes a novel sub-frame-based algorithm with adaptive frame breaking policy to lower the tag identification time for EPC global C1 Gen2 UHF RFID standard.Through the observation of slot statistics in a sub-frame,the reader estimates the tag quantity and efficiently calculates an optimal frame size to fit the unread tags.Only when the expected average identification time in the calculated frame size is less than that in the previous frame size,the reader starts the new frame.Moreover,the estimation of the proposed algorithm is implemented by the look-up tables,which allows dramatically reduction in the computational complexity.Simulation results show noticeable throughput and time efficiency improvements of the proposed solution over the existing approaches.Haipeng Chen Kexiong Liu Chunyang Ma Yu Han Jian Su 2018Computers, Materials & Continua2018,,11:2
