Group decision-making method based on entropy and experts cluster analysis显示文摘According to the aggregation method of experts' evaluation information in group decision-making,the existing methods of determining experts' weights based on cluster analysis take into account the expert's preferences and the consistency of expert's collating vectors, but they lack of the measure of information similarity. So it may occur that although the collating vector is similar to the group consensus, information uncertainty is great of a certain expert. However,it is clustered to a larger group and given a high weight. For this,a new aggregation method based on entropy and cluster analysis in group decision-making process is provided,in which the collating vectors are classified with information similarity coefficient, and the experts' weights are determined according to the result of classification, the entropy of collating vectors and the judgment matrix consistency. Finally,a numerical example shows that the method is feasible and effective. | Xuan Zhou Fengming Zhang Xiaobin Hui Kewu Li | 2011 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2011,22,3: | 12
AntarcticaLC2000:The new Antarctic land cover database for the year 2000显示文摘Antarctica plays a key role in global energy balance and sea level change. It has been conventionally viewed as a whole ice body with high albedo in General Circulation Models or Regional Climate Models and the differences of land cover has usually been overlooked.Land cover in Antarctica is one of the most important drivers of changes in the Earth system.Detailed land cover information over the Antarctic region is necessary as spatial resolution improves in land process models. However, there is a lack of complete Antarctic land cover dataset derived from a consistent data source. To fill this data gap,we have produced a database named Antarctic Land Cover Database for the Year 2000(AntarcticaLC2000) using Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus(ETM+) data acquired around 2000 and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS) images acquired in the austral summer of 2003/2004 according to the criteria for the 1:100000-scale.Three land cover types were included in this map,separately,ice-free rocks, blue ice,and snow/firn.This classification legend was determined based on a review of the land cover systems in Antarctica(LCCSA) and an analysis of different land surface types and the potential of satellite data.Image classification was conducted through a combined usage of computer-aided and manual interpretation methods.A total of 4067 validation sample units were collected through visual interpretation in a stratified random sampling manner. An overall accuracy of 92.3%and the Kappa coefficient of 0.836 were achieved. Results show that the areas and percentages of ice-free rocks, blue ice,and snow/firn are 73268.81 km2(0.537%),225937.26 km2(1.656%),and 13345460.41 km2(97.807%),respectively.The comparisons with other different data proved a higher accuracy of our product and a more advantageous data quality. These indicate that AntarcticaLC2000,the new land cover dataset for Antarctica entirely derived from satellite data,is a reliable product for a broad spectrum of applications. | HUI FengMing KANG Jing LIU Yan CHENG Xiao GONG Peng WANG Fang LI Zhan YE YuFang GUO ZiQi | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 5
Leveraging the UAV to support Chinese Antarctic expeditions:a new perspective显示文摘Recent developments in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs)and their applications in various subjects are of interest to polar communities.Due to the harsh climate and dangerous environment, these regions pose challenges for the expedition teams.Several countries have tested the UAV technology to support Antarctic research and logistics. In this trend paper,we provide insightful reviews and discussions on such a prospective topic.Based on a comprehensive literature survey,we firstly summarize the key research progress of UAV in Antarctic studies. Then the examples of risk scenarios during the field exploration are given, after which several promising applications of the UAVs in safety guarantee are illustrated. In particular,we present a case of site-selection for the Chinese first ice sheet airfield, using the data collected in the 34th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition(CHINARE).In the end,we highlight the unique value of the UAVs in the popularization of polar science before concluding the advantages and limitations.Considering their excellent performance,we expect more innovations for UAV’s applications in the following Antarctic expeditions. | LI Teng ZHANG Baogang CHENG Xiao HUI Fengming LI Yuansheng | 2021 | Advances in Polar Science2021,32,1: | 4
An improved Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica显示文摘A revised Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica (LIMA) is presented, using the 1073 multi-band scenes of the original Landsat-7 ETM+ LIMA image collection available at the United States Geological Survey (USGS: http://gffzza64998f73d704ee0hk5q9n66bcn666q0f.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/). Three improvements have been applied during the data processing: (1) DN saturation is adjusted by adopting a linear regression, which has a lower root mean square error than the ratio regression used by LIMA; (2) solar elevation angle is calculated using pixel-level latitude/longitude and the acquisition time and date of the central pixel of the scene, improving slightly upon the bilinear interpolation of the solar elevation angles of scene corners applied in LIMA; and (3) two additional image bands, Band 5 and Band 7, are sharpened using the panchromatic band (Band 8) and a Gram-Schmidt Spectral Sharpening algorithm to more easily distinguish snow, cloud and exposed rocks. The final planetary reflectance product is stored in 16-bit bands to preserve the full radiometric content of the scenes. A comparative statistical analysis among 12 sample regions indicates that the new mosaic has enhanced visual qualities, information entropy, and information content for land cover classification relative to LIMA. | HUI FengMing CHENG Xiao LIU Yan ZHANG YanMei YE YuFang WANG XianWei LI Zhan WANG Kun ZHAN ZhiFei GUO JianHong HUANG HuaBing LI XiuHong GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,1: | 4
Monitoring the Amery Ice Shelf front during 2004-2012 using ENVISAT ASAR data显示文摘The Amery Ice Shelf is the largest ice shelf in East Antarctica. It drains continental ice from an area of more than one million square kilometres through a section of coastline that represents approximately 2% of the total circumference of the Antarctic continent. In this study, we used a time series of ENVISAT ASAR images from 2004-2012 and flow lines derived from surface velocity data to monitor the changes in 12 tributaries of the Amery Ice Shelf front. The results show that the Amery Ice Shelf has been expanding and that the rates of expansion differ across the shelf. The highest average annual rate of advance from 2004-2012 was 3.36 m·d-1 and the lowest rate was 1.65 m·d-1 . The rates in 2009 and 2010 were generally lower than those in other years. There was a low correlation between the rate of expansion and the atmospheric temperature recorded at a nearby research station, however the mechanism of the relationship was complex. This study shows that the expansion of the Amery Ice Shelf is slowing down, reflecting a changing trend in climate and ice conditions in East Antarctica. | ZHAO Chen CHENG Xiao HUI Fengming KANG Jing LIU Yan WANG Xianwei WANG Fang CHENG Cheng FENG Zhunzhun CI Tianyu ZHAO Tiancheng ZHAI Mengxi | 2013 | Advances in Polar Science2013,24,2: | 4
Detection of crevasses over polar ice shelves using Satellite Laser Altimeter显示文摘Ice shelf breakups account for most mass loss from the Antarctic Ice Sheet as the consequence of the propagation of crevasses(or rift)in response to stress. Thus there is a pressing need for detecting crevasses’location and depth,to understand the mechanism of calving processes. This paper presents a method of crevasse detection using the ICESat-1/GLAS data.A case study was taken at the Amery Ice Shelf of Antarctica to verify the accuracy of geo-location and depth of crevasses detected. Moreover, based on the limited crevasse points,we developed a method to detect the peak stress points which can be used to track the location of the crack tips and to identify the possible high-risk area where an ice shelf begins to break up.The spatial and temporal distribution of crevasse depth and the spatial distribution of peak stress points of the Amery Ice Shelf were analyzed through 132 tracks in 16 campaign periods of ICESat-1/GLAS between 2003 and 2008.The results showed that the depth of the detected crevasse points ranged from 2 to 31.7 m,which were above the sea level;the crevasse that advected downstream to the front edge of an ice shelf has little possibility to directly result in breakups because the crevasse depth did not show any increasing trend over time;the local stress concentration is distributed mainly in the suture zones on the ice shelves. | LIU Yan CHENG Xiao HUI FengMing WANG XianWei WANG Fang CHENG Cheng | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6: | 3
Specific Relationship between the Surface Air Temperature and the Area of the Terra Nova Bay Polynya,Antarctica显示文摘Antarctic polynyas play an important role in regional atmosphere?ice?ocean interactions and are considered to help generate the global deep ocean conveyer belt.Polynyas therefore have a potential impact on the Earth’s climate in terms of the production of sea ice and high-salinity shelf water. In this study,we investigated the relationship between the area of the Terra Nova Bay polynya and the air temperature as well as the eastward and northward wind based on the ERA5 and ERAInterim reanalysis datasets and observations from automatic weather stations during the polar night. We examined the correlation between each factor and the polynya area under different temperature conditions.Previous studies have focused more on the effect of winds on the polynya, but the relationship between air temperature and the polynya area has not been fully investigated. Our study shows, eliminating the influence of winds, lower air temperature has a stronger positive correlation with the polynya area. The results show that the relationship between the polynya area and air temperature is more likely to be interactively influenced. As temperature drops, the relationship of the polynya area with air temperature becomes closer with increasing correlation coefficients. In the low temperature conditions, the correlation coefficients of the polynya area with air temperature are above 0.5,larger than that with the wind speed. | Yifan DING Xiao CHENG Xichen LI Mohammed SHOKR Jiawei YUAN Qinghua YANG Fengming HUI | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,5: | 3
The spatiotemporal patterns of sea ice in the Bohai Sea during the winter seasons of 2000–2016显示文摘In this study, sea ice thickness(SIT)and sea ice extent(SIE)in the Bohai Sea from 2000 to 2016 were investigated.A surface heat balance equation was applied to calculate SIT using ice surface temperatures estimated from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)data with input from air temperature and wind speed from reanalyzing weather data.No trend was found in SIT during 2000–2016.The mean SIT and SIE during this period were 5.58±0.86 cm and 23×10^(3)±8×10^(3)km^(2),respectively.The largest SIT and SIE periods were observed during the second half of January and the first half of February, respectively. The Spearman correlation coefficient between mean ice thickness and average air temperature from 21 automatic weather stations around the Bohai Sea was–0.94(P<.005),and the coefficient between median ice extent and negative accumulated temperature was–0.503(P<.001).The rate of increase in air temperature around the Bohai Sea is 0.271℃per decade in winter for 1979–2016(P<.05),which is much lower than that in northern polar area(0.648℃per decade). This rate has not resulted in a decreasing trend in SIT and SIE for the past 16 years in the Bohai Sea. | Lunxi Ouyang Fengming Hui Lixian Zhu Xiao Cheng Bin Cheng Mohammed Shokr Jiechen Zhao Minghu Ding Tao Zeng | 2019 | International Journal of Digital Earth2019,12,8: | 3
Spatial and temporal evolution of landfast ice near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica, over an annual cycle in 2011/2012显示文摘Annual observations of first-year ice(FYI) and second-year ice(SYI) near Zhongshan Station, East Antarctica, were conducted for the first time from December 2011 to December 2012. Melt ponds appeared from early December 2011. Landfast ice partly broke in late January, 2012 after a strong cyclone. Open water was refrozen to form new ice cover in mid-February, and then FYI and SYI co-existed in March with a growth rate of 0.8 cm/d for FYI and a melting rate of 2.7 cm/d for SYI. This difference was due to the oceanic heat flux and the thickness of ice, with weaker heat flux through thicker ice. From May onward, FYI and SYI showed a similar growth by 0.5 cm/d.Their maximum thickness reached 160.5 cm and 167.0 cm, respectively, in late October. Drillings showed variations of FYI thickness to be generally less than 1.0 cm, but variations were up to 33.0 cm for SYI in March, suggesting that the SYI bottom was particularly uneven. Snow distribution was strongly affected by wind and surface roughness, leading to large thickness differences in the different sites. Snow and ice thickness in Nella Fjord had a similar 'east thicker, west thinner' spatial distribution. Easterly prevailing wind and local topography led to this snow pattern. Superimposed ice induced by snow cover melting in summer thickened multi-year ice, causing it to be thicker than the snow-free SYI. The estimated monthly oceanic heat flux was ~30.0 W/m2 in March–May, reducing to ~10.0 W/m2 during July–October, and increasing to ~15.0 W/m2 in November. The seasonal change and mean value of 15.6 W/m2 was similar to the findings of previous research. The results can be used to further our understanding of landfast ice for climate change study and Chinese Antarctic Expedition services. | Jiechen Zhao Qinghua Yang Bin Cheng Matti Lepp?ranta Fengming Hui Surui Xie Meng Chen Yining Yu Zhongxiang Tian Ming Li Lin Zhang | 2019 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,5: | 2

Light from space illuminating the polar silk road显示文摘The rapid decline of Arctic sea ice has been reminding us the significant impacts caused by global warming. However, the other side of the coin is that this opens a window to utilize the Arctic sea routes in the summer seasons, bringing remarkable economic benefits for ocean transportation between Asia and Europe. However, commercial vessels with low ice classes must tackle substantial environmental challenges in the Arctic sea routes, particularly those caused by variable sea ice, even in the melting seasons. Therefore, the science-based support for shipping safety in the Arctic sea routes is being given more prominence.Emerging satellite remote sensing technology plays a critical role in environmental monitoring in the Arctic. This paper reviews state-of-the-art satellite observations on monitoring sea ice and potential applications on supporting shipping activities in the Arctic Ocean. Moreover,we introduced a recently developed system based on satellite observations to support the safe transportation of Chinese cargo vessels in the Arctic northern sea route, demonstrating the efforts by both the science and business communities to promote the development of the polar silk road. | Xiao-Ming Li Yujia Qiu Yacheng Wang Bingqing Huang Haiming Lu Min Chu Han Fu Fengming Hui | 2022 | International Journal of Digital Earth2022,15,1: | 0
The effect of seafloor topography in the Southern Ocean on tabular iceberg drifting and grounding显示文摘Antarctic tabular icebergs are important active components in the ice sheet-ice shelf-ocean system.Seafloor topography is the key factor that affects the drifting and grounding of icebergs, but it has not been fully investigated. This study analyzes the impact of seafloor topography on the drifting and grounding of Antarctic tabular icebergs using Bedmap-2 datasets and iceberg route tracking data from Brigham Young University. The results highlight the following points.(1) The quantitative distributions of iceberg grounding events and the tracking points of grounded icebergs are mainly affected by iceberg draft and reach their peak values in sea water with depths between 200 m and 300 m.The peak tracking point number and linear velocity of free-drifting icebergs are found in the Antarctic Slope Front(water depth of approximately 500 m).(2) The area of possible grounding regions of small-scale icebergs calved from ice shelf fronts accounts for 28%of the sea area at water depths less than 2000 m outside the Antarctic coastline periphery(3.62 million km2).Their spatial distribution is mainly around East Antarctica and the Antarctic Peninsula. The area of possible grounding regions of large tabular icebergs with long axes larger than 18.5 km(in water depths of less than 800 m) accounts for 74%of the sea area.(3) The iceberg drifting velocity is positively correlated with ocean depth in areas where the depth is less than 2000 m(R=0.85,P<0.01).This result confirms the effect of water depth variations induced by seafloor topography fluctuations on iceberg drifting velocity. | LI Tian LIU Yan CHENG Xiao OUYANG LunXi LI XinQing LIU JiPing Mohammed SHOKR HUI FengMing ZHANG Jing WEN JiaHong | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 0
An improved algorithm for retrieving thin sea ice thickness in the Arctic Ocean from SMOS and SMAP L-band radiometer data显示文摘The aim of this study was to develop an improved thin sea ice thickness(SIT)retrieval algorithm in the Arctic Ocean from the Soil Moisture Ocean Salinity and Soil Moisture Active Passive L-band radiometer data. This SIT retrieval algorithm was trained using the simulated SIT from the cumulative freezing degree days model during the freeze-up period over five carefully selected regions in the Beaufort,Chukchi,East Siberian,Laptev and Kara seas and utilized the microwave polarization ratio(PR)at incidence angle of 40°.The improvements of the proposed retrieval algorithm include the correction for the sea ice concentration impact, reliable reference SIT data over different representative regions of the Arctic Ocean and the utilization of microwave polarization ratio that is independent of ice temperature. The relationship between the SIT and PR was found to be almost stable across the five selected regions. The SIT retrievals were then compared to other two existing algorithms(i.e.,UH_SIT from the University of Hamburg and UB_SIT from the University of Bremen)and validated against independent SIT data obtained from moored upward looking sonars(ULS)and airborne electromagnetic(EM)induction sensors. The results suggest that the proposed algorithm could achieve comparable accuracies to UH_SIT and UB_SIT with root mean square error(RMSE)being about 0.20 m when validating using ULS SIT data and outperformed the UH_SIT and UB_SIT with RMSE being about 0.21 m when validatng using EM SIT data. The proposed algorithm can be used for thin sea ice thickness(<1.0 m)estimation in the Arctic Ocean and requires less auxiliary data in the SIT retrieval procedure which makes its implementation more practical. | Lian He Senwen Huang Fengming Hui Xiao Cheng | 2024 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2024,43,3: | 0
Fine-resolution mapping of the circumpolar Arctic Man-made impervious areas(CAMI)using sentinels,OpenStreetMap and ArcticDEM显示文摘Man-made impervious areas map is of great demand in environmen-tal and urbanization studies since impervious areas are considered as a key indication of urbanization, especially for circumpolar Arctic. However,to date, finer resolution and spatially continuous imper-vious areas information remains scarce in the Arctic. In this study,we developed an accurate and complete circumpolar Arctic Man-made impervious areas(CAMI)map at a resolution of 10 m by combining Sentinel-1 C-band Synthetic Aperture Radar,Sentinel-2 multispectral images,OpenStreetMap,and ArcticDEM via Google Earth Engine platform.A random forest classifier model was trained and used to generate corresponding impervious areas map for the year 2020.The evaluation results suggested that CAMI was the most accurate with an overall accuracy of 86.36%and kappa coefficient of 70.73%as against the three existing impervious areas products.Based on the generated map and OpenStreetMap,we estimated that total imper-vious areas area in the Arctic has achieved 807.80 km2,of which roads, industrial and resident land were three major land use types, accounting for 54.08%,17.85%and 10.34%,respectively.The CAMI map will support for new application and provide advanced insight into the infrastructure vulnerability evaluation and environmental sustainability in the Arctic. | Xiaoqing Xu Chong Liu Caixia Liu Fengming Hui Xiao Cheng Huabing Huang | 2022 | Big Earth Data2022,6,2: | 0
Microstructure refinement and second phase particle regulation of Mo-Y_(2)O_(3) alloys by minor TiC additive显示文摘The oxide dispersion strengthened Mo alloys(ODS-Mo)prepared by traditional ball milling and subsequent sintering technique generally possess comparatively coarse Mo grains and large oxide particles at Mo grain boundaries(GBs),which obviously suppress the corresponding strengthening effect of oxide addition. In this work, the Y_(2)O_(3) and TiC particles were simultaneously doped into Mo alloys using ball-milling and subsequent low temperature sintering.Accompanied by TiC addition, the Mo-Y_(2)O_(3) grains are sharply refined from 3.12 to 1.36μm.In particular,Y_(2)O_(3) and TiC can form smaller Y-Ti-O-C quaternary phase particles(~230 nm)at Mo GBs compared to single Y_(2)O_(3) particles(~420 nm),so as to these new formed Y-Ti-O-C particles can more effectively pin and hinder GBs movement. In addition to Y-Ti-O-C particles at GBs,Y_(2)O_(3),TiOx,and TiCx nanoparticles(<100 nm)also exist within Mo grains, which is significantly different from traditional ODS-Mo.The appearance of TiOx phase indicates that some active Ti within TiC can adsorb oxygen impurities of Mo matrix to form a new strengthening phase, thus strengthening and purifying Mo matrix.Furthermore, the pure Mo,Mo-Y_(2)O_(3),and Mo-Y_(2)O_(3)-TiC alloys have similar relative densities(97.4%-98.0%).More importantly, the Mo-Y_(2)O_(3)-TiC alloys exhibit higher hardness(HV0.2(425±25))compared to Mo-Y_(2)O_(3) alloys(HV0.2(370±25)).This work could provide a relevant strategy for the preparation of ultrafine Mo alloys by facile ball-milling. | Weiqiang Hu Fengming Gong Shaocun Liu Jing Tan Songhua Chen Hui Wang Zongqing Ma | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,11: | 0
The NAC transcription factor ONAC083 negatively regulates rice immunity against Magnaporthe oryzae by directly activating transcription of the RING-H2 gene OsRFPH2-6显示文摘NAC transcription factors(TFs) play critical roles in plant immunity by modulating the expression of downstream genes via binding to specific cis-elements in promoters. Here, we report the function and regulatory network of a pathogenand defense phytohormone-inducible NAC TF gene, ONAC083, in rice(Oryza sativa) immunity.ONAC083 localizes to the nucleus and exhibits transcriptional activation activity that depends on its C-terminal region. Knockout of ONAC083enhances rice immunity against Magnaporthe oryzae, strengthening pathogen-induced defense responses, and boosting chitin-induced pattern-triggered immunity(PTI), whereas ONAC083 overexpression has opposite effects. We identified ONAC083-binding sites in the promoters of 82genes, and showed that ONAC083 specifically binds to a conserved element with the core sequence ACGCAA. ONAC083 activated the transcription of the genes OsRFPH2-6, OsTrx1, and OsPUP4 by directly binding to the ACGCAA element. OsRFPH2-6, encoding a RING-H2 protein with an N-terminal transmembrane region and a C-terminal typical RING domain, negatively regulated rice immunity against M. oryzae and chitin-triggered PTI. These data demonstrate that ONAC083 negatively contributes to rice immunity against M. oryzae by directly activating the transcription of OsRFPH2-6 through the ACGCAA element in its promoter. Overall, our study provides new insight into the molecular regulatory network of NAC TFs in rice immunity. | Yan Bi Hui Wang Xi Yuan Yuqing Yan Dayong Li Fengming Song | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,3: | 0

Ocean contributes to the melting of the Jakobshavn Glacier front显示文摘The Jakobshavn Glacier(JG)in Greenland is one of the most active glaciers in the world. It was close to balance before 1997 but this was followed by a sudden transition to rapid thinning. The reason for the change remains unclear. In this study,The NASA Pre-IceBridge ice thickness data are collected to monitor the melting of JG front. The surface elevation decreased by around 90 m from 1995 to 2002 on the floating front.A distributed energy balance model is developed to estimate the energy balance of JG front in the past 30 years(1986-2016).The results indicate that multi-year average energy fluxes absorbed by the floating front of JG from the ocean were about 500 Wm^-2 from 1986 to 2016.This is approximately two times of the energy fluxes from atmosphere during the same period. The energy fluxes from the ocean increased from 200 to 600 Wm^-2during the period from 1990 to 1998 while energy fluxes from the atmosphere remained stable at about 250 Wm^-2.These results demonstrate that ocean contributes more to the melting of the JG front, and suggest that bottom surface melting must have a profound influence on marine-terminating glacier dynamics. | Kaijia WANG Xiao CHENG Zhuoqi CHEN Fengming HUI Yan LIU Ying TIAN | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,3: | 0
