| 1 | Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased. | NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22: | 51 |
| 2 | Geographical characteristics of China’s wetlands derived from remotely sensed data显示文摘In this paper, we report the first wetland mapping of the entire China using Landsat enhanced thematic mapper plus (ETM+) data. These data were obtained from the Global Land Cover Facility at the University of Maryland spanning from 1999 to 2002. A total of 597 scenes of Landsat images were georeferenced and mosaiced. Manual image interpretation of satellite images was aided with elevation data, soil data, land cover/land use data and Google Earth. The minimum mapping unit is 10 pixel × 10 pixel, equivalent to 9 ha. The aim of our first round of mapping was only targeted at the boundary delineation of any type of wetland except those wetlands that are under agricultural use (i.e., paddy fields), which has already been well mapped by others. Our interpretation results indicate that a total of 359478 km2 of wetlands are of non-agricultural use. Among our preliminarily mapped wetland, 339353 km2 are inland wetland, 2786 km2 are non-agricultural artificial wetland, and 17609 km2 are coastal wetland. Because low-tide is rarely captured in satellite images, an under-estimation of coastal wetland is inevitable. We conducted some statistics based on our mapped wetlands and compared them with those previously obtained from a number of sources including a land cover/land use map made with satellite images during the late 1990s and early 2000s, a marshland map developed in approximately the same period, survey data of coastal wetland in early 1980s, and area data for approximately 400 larger patches of marshland in China compiled in 1996. Because some inconsistencies exist in the guidelines of those different wetland surveys, difference in area is expected. Some further comparison indicates that the wetland distributions derived from the preliminary wetland map are reasonable and more objective than other sources. The mapping process also indicated that the method adopted by us was efficient and cost-effective. We also found that in order to ensure comparability of the wetland maps developed at different times, a set of standard guidelines on the wetland categories to be mapped, and the mapping methods to be used must be well conceived, developed and effectively employed. | 3 | Chaiqinchengqi decoction regulates necrosis-apoptosis via regulating the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c and caspase-3 in rats with acute necrotizing pancreatitis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect and the mechanism of Chaiqinchengqi decoction(CQCQD) on the apoptosis-necrosis switch of pancreatic acinar cells in acute necrotizing pancreatitis(ANP) in rats.METHODS: Sixty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into the control group, the ANP group and the CQCQD group. The acute pancreatitis(AP)model was induced by intraperitoneal injections of4 g/kg 8% L-Arginine(PH 7.0) twice with a 1 h interval. Rats in the CQCQD group were intragastrically administered CQCQD(20 mL/kg every 2 h, 3 times,then 20 mL/kg every 6 h, 3 times). Rats were killed at the 6 and 24 h after the induction of AP.The pancreatic tissues were collected for pathology and to isolate pancreatic acinar cells and mitochondria.RESULTS: CQCQD significantly ameliorated the severity of ANP by reducing the pancreatic histopathology score, indicated by lactate dehydrogenase levels at the 6 and 24 h. The CQCQD group promoted the apoptosis of pancreatic acinar cells by raising the apoptosis index compared with the ANP group and the control group. Mitochondrial cytochrome c at the 6 and 24 h in the ANP group were lower than that in the control group or the CQCQD group(0.67±0.13 vs 1.54±0.03 vs 0.81±0.09; 0.71±0.08 vs 1.55±0.09 vs 0.89±0.16, P<0.01). The cytochrome c levels in the cytoplasm at the 6 and 2 h in the CQCQD group were higher than in the control group(1.36±0.15 vs 0.67±0.04, 1.46±0.08 vs 0.59±0.09, P<0.01), or the ANP group(0.96±0.13, P>0.05;0.97±0.09, P<0.05). | 4 | Thermal convection thinning of the North China Craton: Numerical simulation显示文摘We used two-dimensional numerical simulations to investigate small-scale convection in the upper mantle-lithosphere system with depthand temperature-dependent viscosity. Our aim was to examine the mechanism of craton thinning by thermal convection. The model domain is 700 km deep and 700 km wide with a resolution of 71×71 nodes and 160000 markers. The velocity boundary conditions are free-slip along all the boundaries. A thermal insulation condition was applied at the two side walls, with constant temperatures for the top and bottom boundaries. We assumed an initial temperature of 273 K at the upper boundary and 1673 K at the lower boundary, and 1573 K at the bottom of the lithosphere (200 km depth) for the thick, cold, and stable North China Craton (NCC). We calculated the thermal evolution in the upper mantle when the temperature at its bottom is raised because of lower mantle convection or plumes. The temperature at the bottom of the upper mantle was set at 1773, 1873, 1973, and 2073 K for different models to study the temperature effect on the lithospheric thinning processes. Our end-member calculations show that with the bottom boundary raising the lithosphere can be thinned from a depth of 200 km to a depth of between 100 and 126.25 km. | 5 | AntarcticaLC2000:The new Antarctic land cover database for the year 2000显示文摘Antarctica plays a key role in global energy balance and sea level change.It has been conventionally viewed as a whole ice body with high albedo in General Circulation Models or Regional Climate Models and the differences of land cover has usually been overlooked.Land cover in Antarctica is one of the most important drivers of changes in the Earth system.Detailed land cover information over the Antarctic region is necessary as spatial resolution improves in land process models.However,there is a lack of complete Antarctic land cover dataset derived from a consistent data source.To fill this data gap,we have produced a database named Antarctic Land Cover Database for the Year 2000(AntarcticaLC2000) using Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus(ETM+) data acquired around 2000 and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(MODIS) images acquired in the austral summer of 2003/2004 according to the criteria for the 1:100000-scale.Three land cover types were included in this map,separately,ice-free rocks,blue ice,and snow/firn.This classification legend was determined based on a review of the land cover systems in Antarctica(LCCSA) and an analysis of different land surface types and the potential of satellite data.Image classification was conducted through a combined usage of computer-aided and manual interpretation methods.A total of 4067 validation sample units were collected through visual interpretation in a stratified random sampling manner.An overall accuracy of 92.3%and the Kappa coefficient of 0.836 were achieved.Results show that the areas and percentages of ice-free rocks,blue ice,and snow/firn are 73268.81 km2(0.537%),225937.26 km2(1.656%),and 13345460.41 km2(97.807%),respectively.The comparisons with other different data proved a higher accuracy of our product and a more advantageous data quality.These indicate that AntarcticaLC2000,the new land cover dataset for Antarctica entirely derived from satellite data,is a reliable product for a broad spectrum of applications. | HUI FengMing KANG Jing LIU Yan CHENG Xiao GONG Peng WANG Fang LI Zhan YE YuFang GUO ZiQi | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,4: | 5 |

| 7 | An improved Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica显示文摘A revised Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica (LIMA) is presented, using the 1073 multi-band scenes of the original Landsat-7 ETM+ LIMA image collection available at the United States Geological Survey (USGS: http://gffzza64998f73d704ee0hfc0nwk5cbpk96vxw.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/). Three improvements have been applied during the data processing: (1) DN saturation is adjusted by adopting a linear regression, which has a lower root mean square error than the ratio regression used by LIMA; (2) solar elevation angle is calculated using pixel-level latitude/longitude and the acquisition time and date of the central pixel of the scene, improving slightly upon the bilinear interpolation of the solar elevation angles of scene corners applied in LIMA; and (3) two additional image bands, Band 5 and Band 7, are sharpened using the panchromatic band (Band 8) and a Gram-Schmidt Spectral Sharpening algorithm to more easily distinguish snow, cloud and exposed rocks. The final planetary reflectance product is stored in 16-bit bands to preserve the full radiometric content of the scenes. | 8 | Bimetallic Metal-Organic Framework with High-Adsorption Capacity toward Lithium Polysulfides for Lithium–sulfur Batteries显示文摘The practical application of Li-S batteries is largely impeded by the“shuttle effect”generated at the cathode which results in a short life cycle of the battery.To address this issue,this work discloses a bimetallic metal-organic framework(MOF)as a sulfur host material based on Al-MOF,commonly called(Al)MIL-53.To obtain a high-adsorption capacity to lithium polysulfides(Li_(2)S_(x),4≤x≤8),we present an effective strategy to incorporate sulfiphilic metal ion(Cu^(2+))with high-binding energy to Li_(2)S_(x) into the framework.Through a one-step hydrothermal method,Cu^(2+) is homogeneously dispersed in Al-MOF,producing a bimetallic Al/Cu-MOF as advanced cathode material.The macroscopic Li2S4 solution permeation test indicates that the Al/Cu-MOF has better adsorption capacity to lithium polysulfides than monometallic Al-MOF.The sulfur-transfusing process is executed via a melt-diffusion method to obtain the sulfur-containing Al/CuMOF(Al/Cu-MOF-S).The assembled Li-S batteries with Al/Cu-MOF-S yield improved cyclic performance,much better than that of monometallic AlMOF as sulfur host.It is shown that chemical immobilization is an effective method for polysulfide adsorption than physical confinement and the bimetallic Al/Cu-MOF,formed by incorporation of sulfiphilic Cu^(2+) into porous MOF,will provide a novel and powerful approach for efficient sulfur host materials. | Pengbiao Geng Meng Du Xiaotian Guo Huan Pang Ziqi Tian Pierre Braunstein Qiang Xu | 2022 | Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,2: | 4 |

| 10 | Cationic conjugated polymers as signal reporter for label-free assay based on targets-mediated aggregation of perylene diimide quencher显示文摘Herein, we reported a new label-free and fluorescence turn-on biosensor based on cationic conjugated poly(9,9-bis(6'-N,N,N-trimethylammonium)hexyl)fluorine phenylene)(PFP) and perylene diimide derivatives(PDI). Cationic PFP, single-stranded nucleic acid and PDI were used as signal reporter, probe and fluorescence quencher, respectively. In the presence of nucleic acids, they form complexes with PFP and PDI through strong electrostatic attraction interactions, resulting in PDI aggregating on nucleic acids and fluorescence of PFP being quenched. When nucleic acids are hydrolyzed by enzymes or their conformation is changed via recognizing targets, the effective aggregation of PDI is disrupted and the quenching ability is decreased. Thus the fluorescence of PFP recovers significantly. By taking advantage of the mechanism, we construct a new biosensor for endonuclease and small molecules detection. Here, S1 nuclease and bisphenol A are used as model systems. The detection limit of the SI nuclease and BPA are1.0×10^(-6)U/mL and 0.05 ng/mL, respectively. | 16 | Somatic copy number alterations are predictive of progression-free survival in patients with lung adenocarcinoma undergoing radiotherapy显示文摘Objective:Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.Somatic copy number alterations(SCNAs)have been used to predict responses to therapies in many cancers,including lung cancer.However,little is known about whether they are predictive of radiotherapy outcomes.We aimed to understand the prognostic value and biological functions of SCNAs.Methods:We analyzed the correlation between SCNAs and clinical outcomes in The Cancer Genome Atlas data for 486 patients with non-small cell lung cancer who received radiotherapy.Gene set enrichment analyses were performed to investigate the potential mechanisms underlying the roles of SCNAs in the radiotherapy response.Our results were validated in 20 patients with lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)receiving radiotherapy.Results:SCNAs were a better predictor of progression-free survival(PFS)in LUAD(P=0.024)than in lung squamous carcinoma(P=0.18)in patients treated with radiotherapy.Univariate and multivariate regression analyses revealed the superiority of SCNAs in predicting PFS in patients with LUAD.Patients with stage I cancer and low SCNA levels had longer PFS than those with high SCNA levels(P=0.022).Our prognostic nomogram also showed that combining SCNAs and tumor/node/metastasis provided a better model for predicting long-term PFS.Additionally,high SCNA may activate the cell cycle pathway and induce tumorigenesis.Conclusions:SCNAs may be used to predict PFS in patients with early-stage LUAD with radiotherapy,in combination with TNM,with the aim of predicting long-term PFS.Therefore,SCNAs are a novel predictive biomarker for radiotherapy in patients with LUAD. | Fan Kou Lei Wu Yan Guo Bailu Zhang Baihui Li Ziqi Huang Xiubao Ren Lili Yang | 2022 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,5: | 1 |

| 18 | Segmented Au/PtCo heterojunction nanowires for efficient formic acid oxidation catalysis显示文摘Exploring a new strategy for the removal of adsorbed CO (CO^(*)) on a Pt surface at a low potential is the key to achieving enhanced catalysis for the formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR);however, the development of such a strategy remains a significant challenge. Herein, we report a class of Au/PtCo heterojunction nanowires (HNWs) as efficient electrocatalysts for accelerating the FAOR. This heterojunction structure and the induced Co alloying effects can facilitate formic acid adsorption/activation on Pt with high CO tolerance, generating the FAOR pathway from dehydration to dehydrogenation. The optimized Au_(23)/Pt_(63)Co_(14) HNWs showed the highest specific and mass activities of 11.7 mA cm^(−2)Pt and 6.42 A mg^(−1)Pt reported to date, respectively, which are considerably higher than those of commercial Pt/C.
