1Observed oceanic feedback to the atmosphere over the Kuroshio Extension during spring time and its possible mechanism显示文摘High-resolution satellite measurements are used to study the air-sea interaction over the Kuroshio Extension (KE) region during spring time. There are two oceanic fronts in the KE region off the east coast of Japan. These fronts are generally associated with strong ocean currents, which may display unstable meander, resulting in remarkable warm sea surface temperature (SST) ridges and cold SST troughs. Analyses of these satellite observations reveal a significantly positive correlation between sea surface wind speed and its underlying SST along these fronts. This positive SST-wind correlation be-comes even more significant when strong meanders occur along the fronts. This positive SST-wind correlation indicates an ocean-to-atmosphere feedback over the KE region during spring time. 2Tissue level microstructure and mechanical properties of the femoral head in the proximal femur of fracture patients显示文摘This study aims to investigate the regional variations of trabecular morphological parameters and mechanical parameters of the femoral head,as well as to determine the relationship between trabecular morphological and mechanical parameters.Seven femoral heads from patients with fractured proximal femur were scanned using a micro-CT system.Each femoral head was divided into 12 sub-regions according to the trabecular orientation.One 125 mm^3 trabecular cubic model was reconstructed from each sub-region.A total of 81 trabecular models were reconstructed,except three destroyed sub-regions from two femoral heads during the surgery.Trabecular morphological parameters,i.e.trabecular separation(Tb.Sp),trabecular thickness(Tb.Th),specific bone surface(BS/B V),bone volume fraction(BV/TV),structural model index(SMI),and degree of anisotropy(DA) were measured.Micro-finite element analyses were performed for each cube to obtain the apparent Young's modulus and tissue level von Mises stress distribution under 1%compressive strain along three orthogonal directions,respectively.Results revealed significant regional variations in the morphological parameters(P<0.05).Young's moduli along the trabecular orientation were significantly higher than those along the other two directions.In general,trabecular mechanical properties in the medial region were lower than those in the lateral region.Trabecular mechanical parameters along the trabecular orientation were significantly correlated with BS/BV,BV/TV,Tb.Th,and DA.In this study,regional variations of microstructural features and mechanical properties in the femoral head of patients with proximal femur fracture were thoroughly investigated at the tissue level.The results of this study will help to elucidate the mechanism of femoral head fracture for reducing fracture risk and developing treatment strategies for the elderly.Linwei Lü Guangwei Meng He Gong Dong Zhu Jiazi Gao Yubo Fan 2015Acta Mechanica Sinica2015,31,2:4
3Efficient separation between trivalent americium and lanthanides enabled by a phenanthroline-based polymeric organic framework显示文摘Separation of the minor actinides(Am and Cm)from lanthanides in high-level liquid wastes(HLLW)is one of the most challenging chemical separation tasks known owing to their chemical similarities and is highly significant in nuclear fuel reprocessing plants because it could practically lead to sustainable nuclear energy by closing the nuclear fuel cycle.The solid phase extraction is proposed to be a possible strategy but all reported sorbent materials severely suffer from limited stability and/or efficiency caused by the harsh conditions of high acidity coupled with intense irradiation.Herein,a phenanthroline-based polymeric organic framework(PhenTAPB-POF)was designed and tested for the separation of trivalent americium from lanthanides for the first time.Due to its fully conjugated structure,PhenTAPB-POF exhibits previously unachieved stability under the combined extreme conditions of strong acids and high irradiation field.The americium partitioning experiment indicates that PhenTAPB-POF possesses an ultrahigh adsorption selectivity towards Am(Ⅲ)over lanthanides(e.g.,SFAm(Ⅲ)/Eu(Ⅲ)=3326)in highly acidic simulated HLLW and relatively fast adsorption kinetics in both static and dynamic experiments.Am(Ⅲ)can be almost quantitatively eluted from the PhenTAPB-POF packed-column using a concentrated nitric acid elution.The high stability and superior separation performance endow PhenTAPB-POF with the promising alternative for separating minor actinides over lanthanides from highly acidic HLLW streams.Afshin Khayambashi Long Chen Xue Dong Kai Li Zhipeng Wang Linwei He Suresh Annam Lixi Chen Yaxing Wang Matthew V.Sheridan Chao Xu Shuao Wang 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,7:1

11Radiation-induced one-pot synthesis of grafted covalent organic frameworks显示文摘Post-synthetic functionalization of covalent organic frameworks(COFs)is an alternative way to enhance and broaden their properties and potential applications.However,the chemical functionalization of COFs is a great challenge because traditional procedures are often time-and energy-consuming,while the crystallinity of COFs can be damaged under harsh conditions.Here we report the in-situ introduction of functional graft chains onto the skeleton of COFs during the synthesis process through the combination of radiation-induced synthesis and graft polymerization techniques under ^(60)Co gamma-ray radiation.The synthesis and functionalization of COFs are simultaneously accomplished in a chemical system under ambient conditions yielding a large number of different functionalized COFs.The obtained carboxyl-functionalized COFs exhibit excellent radioactive uranium removal capabilities from aqueous solution with fast uptake dynamics,high adsorption capacity,and excellent selectivity over other competing metal ions.Mingxing Zhang Mengjia Yuan Xiaofang Zhao Junchang Chen Linwei He Qianhong Gao Jiangtao Hu Guozhong Wu Zhifang Chai Shuao Wang 2023Science China Chemistry2023,66,6:0
12Assessing mechanisms for microbial taxa and community dynamics using process models显示文摘Disentangling the assembly mechanisms controlling community composition,structure,distribution,functions,and dynamics is a central issue in ecology.Although various approaches have been proposed to examine community assembly mechanisms,quanti-tative characterization is challenging,particularly in microbial ecology.Here,we present a novel approach for quantitatively delineating community assembly mechanisms by combining the consumer–resource model with a neutral model in stochastic differential equations.Using time-series data from anaerobic bioreactors that target microbial 16S rRNA genes,we tested the applicability of three ecological models:the consumer–resource model,the neutral model,and the combined model.Our results revealed that model performances varied substantially as a function of population abundance and/or process conditions.The combined model performed best for abundant taxa in the treatment bioreactors where process conditions were manipulated.In contrast,the neutral model showed the best performance for rare taxa.Our analysis further indicated that immigration rates decreased with taxa abundance and com-petitions between taxa were strongly correlated with phylogeny,but within a certain phylogenetic distance only.The determinism underlying taxa and community dynamics were quantitatively assessed,showing greater determinism in the treatment bioreactors that aligned with the subsequent abnormal system functioning.Given its mechanistic basis,the framework developed here is expected to be potentially applicable beyond microbial ecology.Linwei Wu Yunfeng Yang Daliang Ning Qun Gao Huaqun Yin Naija Xiao Benjamin YZhou Si Chen Qiang He Jizhong Zhou 2023mLife2023,2,3:0

14Synergy of first-and second-sphere interactions in a covalent organic framework boosts highly selective platinum uptake显示文摘Platinum recovery from waste electrical and electronic equipment(WEEE) in highly acidic solutions is significant to the electronics industry and environmental remediation. However, the lack of ingenious design and synergetic coordination gives rise to unsatisfied PtCl_(4)^(2-)extraction capacities and selectivities in most previously reported adsorbents(e.g., polymeric and inorganic materials). Herein, we proposed a synergistic strategy that realizes highly selective PtCl_(4)^(2-)uptake through first-and second-sphere coordinations. The proof-of-concept imine-linked covalent organic framework(SCU-COF-3) was found to chelate Pt Cl42-via the direct N…Pt coordination and the synergistically interlaminar N–H…Cl hydrogen bonds, which was disclosed by the comprehensive analysis of extended X-ray adsorption fine structure(EXAFS) characterizations and density functional theory(DFT) calculations. The unique adsorption mechanism imparts a superior adsorption capacity(168.4 mg g-1)and extraordinary Pt(II) selectivity to SCU-COF-3 under static conditions. In addition, SCU-COF-3 exhibits an upgraded distribution coefficient of 1.62 × 10^(5)mL· g^(-1), one order of magnitude higher than those of reported natural adsorbents. 16Superior Iodine Uptake Capacity Enabled by an Open Metal-Sulfide Framework Composed of Three Types of Active Sites显示文摘Efficient adsorption of gaseous radioiodine is pivotal for the sustainable development of nuclear energy and the long-termradiation safety of the ecological system.However,state-of-the-art adsorbents(e.g.metal-organic frameworks and covalent-organic frameworks)currently under exploration suffer severely from limited adsorption capacity,especially under a real-world scenariowith extremely lowradioiodine concentration and elevated temperature.This mostly originates from the relatively weak sorption driving forces mainly determinedby the iodine-adsorbent interaction consistingof noncovalent interactionswith a small fraction of strong chemical bonding.Here,we document the discovery of an open metal-sulfide framework((NH_(4))_(2)(Sn_(3)S_(7)),donated as SCU-SnS)constructed by three different types of active sites as a superior iodine adsorbent.Benefiting from the ability of iodine for pre-enrichment into the framework by charge-balancing NH_(4)^(+)through N-H···I interaction,the efficient reduction of I^(2)affording I^(-)by S^(2-),and extremely high binding affinity between Sn_(4)^(+)and I^(-),SCU-SnS exhibit a record-breaking iodine adsorption capacity(2.12 g/g)under dynamic breakthrough conditions and the highest static capacity(6.12 g/g)among all reported inorganic adsorbents,both at 348 K.Its facile synthesis and low cost endow SCU-SnS with powerful application potential for the nuclear industry.Yugang Zhang Linwei He Tingting Pan Jian Xie Fuqi Wu Xinglong Dong Xia Wang Lixi Chen Shicheng Gong Wei Liu Litao Kang Junchang Chen Lanhua Chen Long Chen Yu Han Shuao Wang 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,7:0
17Tailoring Pore Structure and Morphologies in Covalent Organic Frameworks for Xe/Kr Capture and Separation显示文摘As a rising star among porous solid materials,covalent organic frameworks(COFs)with excellent properties including but not limit to facilely controllable structure,high porosity,and multi-chemical functionality represent significant potential for efficient 127Xe/85Kr capture and separation.In this study,through tuning the length of the organic ligands,two-dimensional(2D)COF materials with identical connection group but different pore properties,denoted as ATFG-COF and TpPa-COF with AA-stacking model and TpBD-COF with AB-stacking model were synthesized and tested for Kr and Xe adsorption for the first time.Adsorption measurements indicate that the narrower pore apertures and higher porosity are conducive for COF materials to capture Xe and Kr.Furthermore,the Henry’s constant,isosteric heat of adsorption(Q_(st)),and ideal adsorbed solution theory(IAST)selectivity of ATFG-COF,the pore size of which is closest to the kinetic diameter of the Xe atom(0.41 nm)among 2D COF materials,were carried out based on the single component sorption isotherms.The results illustrate that the high isosteric heat values of Xe/Kr adsorption on ATFG-COF are 25 and 16 kJ/mol at room temperature,respectively.Henry’s law predicts that the selectivity factor of Xe to Kr is 6.07,consistent with the adsorption selectivity(ca.6)calculated based on the IAST.YUAN Mengjia WANG Xia CHEN Long ZHANG Mingxing HE Linwei MA Fuyin LIU Wei WANG Shuao 2021Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2021,37,3:0
