2新疆望峰金矿成矿流体研究及其成因意义显示文摘新疆望峰金矿,产于中天山结晶基底中的韧性剪切带内。围岩蚀变和流体包裹体研究表明,成矿过程包括了3个阶段,从早到晚有石英黄铁矿阶段、多金属硫化物阶段和石英碳酸盐阶段,温度分别集中在360~520℃、240~360℃和120~240℃;矿化以第Ⅱ阶段为主。成矿流体的δ18O值变化于1.15‰~2.70‰之间,属于变质热液与大气降水热液的混合流体。包裹体成分表明成矿流体来源较浅,但有利于金矿化;CO2/H2O比值多大于0.026,也有利于成矿。而包裹体捕获压力表明成矿作用发生在5.6~1.2km深度范围,主要发生在1.9km左右;矿化过程与地壳抬升伸展的过程一致,自然亦与碰撞造山体制的矿化规律一致。因此,古生代末期的碰撞造山作用导致了望峰金矿的形成,冰达坂断裂两侧是寻找望峰式金矿的有利地带。石英红外光谱分析表明,CO2光密度(D2)及其与H2O光密度(D1)的比值(D2/D1)普遍较高,指示矿化较强;D2>0.55和D2/D10.26是该区富金样品的标志。Chen Yanjing 1) Li Xin 1) Jing Jun 2) Gao Xiuli 1) Chen Huayong 1) Wu Xidan 2) Wu Dehua 2) ( 1) Department of Geology, Peking University 2)Team 15 of Gold Headquarters, MMIC, Urumqi ) 1998地球学报(中国地质科学院院报)1998,19,2:18

4Factors predicting survival in patients with proximal gastric carcinoma involving the esophagus显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinicopathologic features which predict surgical overall survival in patients with proximal gastric carcinoma involving the esophagus (PGCE).METHODS:Electronic pathology database established in the Department of Pathology of the Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital was searched for consecutive resection cases of proximal gastric carcinoma over the period from May 2004 through July 2009.Each retrieved pathology report was reviewed and the cases with tumors crossing the gastroesophageal junction line were selected as PGCE.Each tumor was re-staged,following the guidelines on esophageal adenocarcinoma,according to the 7th edition of the American Joint Commission on Cancer Staging Manual.All histology slides were studied along with the pathology report for a retrospective analysis of 13 clinicopathologic features,i.e.,age,gender,Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori ) infection,surgical modality,Siewert type,tumor Bormann's type,size,differentiation,histology type,surgical margin,lymphovascular and perineural invasion,and pathologic stage in relation to survival after surgical resection.Prognostic factors for overall survival were assessed with uniand multi-variate analyses.RESULTS:Patients' mean age was 65 years (range:47-90 years).The male:female ratio was 3.3.The 1-,3and 5-year overall survival rates were 87%,61% and 32%,respectively.By univariate analysis,age,male gender,H.pylori ,tumor Bormann's type,size,histology type,surgical modality,positive surgical margin,lymphovascular invasion,and pT stage were not predictive for overall survival;in contrast,perineural invasion (P = 0.003),poor differentiation (P = 0.0003),> 15 total lymph nodes retrieved (P = 0.008),positive lymph nodes (P = 0.001),and distant metastasis (P = 0.005) predicted poor post-operative overall survival.Celiac axis nodal metastasis was associated with significantly worse overall survival (P = 0.007).By multivariate analysis,≥ 16 positive nodes (P = 0.018),lymph node ratio > 0.2 (P = 0.003),and overall pathologic stage (P = 0.002) were independent predictors for poor overall survival after resection.CONCLUSION:Patients with PGCE showed worse overall survival in elderly,high nodal burden and advanced pathologic stage.This cancer may be more accurately staged as gastric,than esophageal,cancer.Yi-Fen Zhang Jiong Shi Hui-Ping Yu An-Ning Feng Xiang-Shan Fan Gregory Y Lauwers Hiroshi Mashimo Jason S Gold Gang Chen Qin Huang 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,27:12

6Seasonal Rainfall Forecasts for the Yangtze River Basin of China in Summer 2019 from an Improved Climate Service显示文摘Rainfall forecasts for the summer monsoon season in the Yangtze River basin(YRB) allow decision-makers to plan for possible flooding, which can affect the lives and livelihoods of millions of people. A trial climate service was developed in 2016, producing a prototype seasonal forecast product for use by stakeholders in the region, based on rainfall forecasts directly from a dynamical model. Here, we describe an improved service based on a simple statistical downscaling approach. Through using dynamical forecast of an East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) index, seasonal mean rainfall for the upper and middle/lower reaches of YRB can be forecast separately by use of the statistical downscaling, with significant skills for lead times of up to at least three months. The skill in different sub-basin regions of YRB varies with the target season. The rainfall forecast skill in the middle/lower reaches of YRB is significant in May–June–July(MJJ), and the forecast skill for rainfall in the upper reaches of YRB is significant in June–July–August(JJA). The mean rainfall for the basin as a whole can be skillfully forecast in both MJJ and JJA. The forecasts issued in 2019 gave good guidance for the enhanced rainfall in the MJJ period and the near-average conditions in JJA. 9Fragmentation model for large L/D (Length over Diameter) explosive fragmentation warheads显示文摘New advanced numerical computer model enabling accurate simulation of fragmentation parameters of large Length over Diameter(L/D)explosively driven metal shells has been developed and validated.The newly developed large L/D multi-region model links three-dimensional axisymmetric high strain high strain-rate hydrocode analyses with the conventional set of Picatinny Arsenal FRAGmentation(PAFRAG)simulation routines.The standard PAFRAG modeling technique is based on the Mott's theory of break-up of idealized cylindrical'ring-bombs',in which the length of the average fragment is a function of the radius and velocity of the shell at the moment of break-up,and the mechanical properties of the metal.In the newly developed multi-region model,each of the shell region,the break-up is assumed to occur instantaneously,whereas the entire shell is modeled to fragment at multiple times,according to the number of the regions considered.According to PAFRAG methodology,the required input for both the natural and the controlled fragmentation models including the geometry and the velocity of the shell at moment of break-up had been provided from the hydrocode analyses and validated with available experimental data.The newly developed large L/D multi-region PAFRAG model has been shown to accurately reproduce available experimental fragmentation data.Vladimir M. 10Seasonal Forecasts of the Summer 2016 Yangtze River Basin Rainfall显示文摘The Yangtze River has been subject to heavy flooding throughout history,and in recent times severe floods such as those in 1998 have resulted in heavy loss of life and livelihoods.Dams along the river help to manage flood waters,and are important sources of electricity for the region.Being able to forecast high-impact events at long lead times therefore has enormous potential benefit.Recent improvements in seasonal forecasting mean that dynamical climate models can start to be used directly for operational services.The teleconnection from El Ni ?no to Yangtze River basin rainfall meant that the strong El Ni ?no in winter 2015/16 provided a valuable opportunity to test the application of a dynamical forecast system.This paper therefore presents a case study of a real-time seasonal forecast for the Yangtze River basin,building on previous work demonstrating the retrospective skill of such a forecast.A simple forecasting methodology is presented,in which the forecast probabilities are derived from the historical relationship between hindcast and observations.Its performance for2016 is discussed.The heavy rainfall in the May–June–July period was correctly forecast well in advance.August saw anomalously low rainfall,and the forecasts for the June–July–August period correctly showed closer to average levels.The forecasts contributed to the confidence of decision-makers across the Yangtze River basin.Trials of climate services such as this help to promote appropriate use of seasonal forecasts,and highlight areas for future improvements.Philip E. 12IMPROVING 9-INTERSECTION MODEL BY REPLACING THE COMPLEMENT WITH VORONOI REGION显示文摘intersection model is the most popular framework used for formalizing the spatial relations between two spatial objects A and B. It transforms the topological relation- ships between two simple spatial Objects A and B into point-set topology problem in terms of the intersections of A’s boundary ( A), interior (A0) and exterior (A - ) with B’s bound- ary ( B), interior (B0) and exterior (B - ). It is shown in this paper that there exist some limitations of the original 9-intersection model due to its definition of an object’s exterior as its complement,and it is difficult to distinguish different disjoint relations and relations be- tween complex objects with holes, difficult or even impossible to compute the intersections with the two object’s complements ( A B -, A0 B -, A - B, A - B0 and A - B - )since the complements are infinitive. The authors suggest to re-define the exterior of spa- tial object by replacing the complement with its Voronoi region. A new Voronoi-based 9-in- tersection (VNI) is proposed and used for formalizing topological relations between spatial objects. By improving the 9-interscetion model, it is now possible to distinguish disjoint rela- tions and to deal with objects with holes. 13The Process and Benefits of Developing Prototype Climate Services——Examples in China显示文摘Changes in climate pose major challenges to society, and so decision-makers need actionable climate information to inform their planning and policies to make society more resilient to climatic changes. Climate services are being developed to provide such actionable climate information. The successful development and use of climate services benefits greatly from close engagement between developers, providers, and users of the services. The Climate Science for Service Partnership China(CSSP China) is a China–UK collaboration fostering closer engagement between climate scientists, providers of climate services, and users of climate services. We describe the process within CSSP China of co-developing climate services through trials with users to revise and improve a prototype. Examples are provided covering various scientific capabilities, user needs, and parts of China. The development process is yielding many benefits, such as increasing the engagement between providers and users, making users more aware of how climate information can be of use in their decision-making, giving the climate service providers a better understanding of the users’ requirements for climate information, and shaping future scientific research and development. In addition to the benefits, we also document some challenges that have emerged, along with ways of alleviating them. 16Verification of the 2019 GloSea5 Seasonal Tropical Cyclone Landfall Forecast for East China显示文摘A prototype climate service was developed and trialled in early 2019 to provide seasonal forecast of the June–July–August(JJA) tropical cyclone(TC) landfall risk for the East China region ahead of the forthcoming typhoon season.Test forecasts were produced in both March and April 2019 and a final forecast was released to the China Meteorological Administration(CMA) on 1 May 2019. The trial service was produced by using the Met Office Global Seasonal forecast system(GloSea5), and a forecast of the western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH) index was used to infer the TC landfall risk based on a simple linear regression between historical model WPSH indices and observed TC landfalls in East China. The forecast method shows significant skill for forecasting the JJA TC landfall risk in East China with up to three-month lead time, with the greatest skill for predictions initialized in May. The 2019 forecast provided good guidance of the near-average TC activity observed in East China in JJA 2019. 17Medical student depression and its correlates across three international medical schools显示文摘BACKGROUND Medical students have high rates of depression, anxiety, and burnout that have been found to affect their empathy, professional behaviors, and performance as a physician. While studies have examined predictors for burnout and depression in the United States (US), no study, to our knowledge, has compared depression in medical students cross-culturally, or has attempted to examine the effect of factors influencing rates including burnout, exercise, stress, unmet mental health needs, and region. AIM To examine rates of depression in three international cohorts of medical students, and determine variables that may explain these differences. METHODS Convenience samples of medical students from three countries (US, China, and a Middle Eastern country whose name remains anonymous per request from the school) were surveyed in this observational study. Using the Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2) and a modified Maslach Burnout Inventory, depression and burnout were examined among medical students from the three cohorts (n = 473). Chi-square test and analysis of variance were used to examine differences in demographics, behavioral, and psychological variables across these three schools to identify potentially confounding descriptive characteristics. Analysis of covariance compared depression and the emotional exhaustion component of burnout identified through Principal Component Analysis across countries. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze the impact of demographic, behavioral, and psychological variables on screening positive for depression. RESULTS Medical students from the Middle Eastern country had the highest rates of positive depression screens (41.1%), defined as a PHQ-2 score of ≥ 3, followed by China (14.1 %), and then the US (3.8%). More students in the Middle Eastern school had unmet mental health needs (50.8%) than at the medical school in China (34.8%) or the school in the US (32.8%)(Pearson chi-square significance < 0.05). Thus, PHQ-2 scores were adjusted for unmet mental health needs;however, the Middle Eastern country continued to have the highest depression. Adjusting for PHQ-2 score, medical students from the US scored the highest on emotional exhaustion (a measure of burnout). Demographic variables did not significantly predict medical student depression;however, lack of exercise, unmet mental health needs, stress, and emotional exhaustion predicted nearly half of depression in these cohorts. In comparison to the US, coming from the Middle Eastern country and China predicted higher levels of depression. CONCLUSION Depression rates differ in three international cohorts of medical students. Measured factors contributed to some observed differences.
