1Macrophage migration inhibitory factor stimulated by He/icobacter py/oriincreases proliferation of gastric epithelial cells显示文摘AIM: Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) is associated with increased gastric inflammatory and epithelial expression of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and gastric epithelial cell proliferation. This study aimed at determining whether H pylori directly stimulates release of MIF in monocytes, whether the cay pathogenicity island (PAI) is involved for this function, and whether MIF stimulated by H pylori increases gastric epithelial cell proliferation in vitro.METHODS: A cytotoxic wild-type H pylori strain (TN2),its three isogenic mutants (TN2△cag, TN2△cagA and TN2△cagE) were co-cultured with cells of a human monocyte cell line, THP-1, for 24 h at different organism/cell ratios. MIF in the supernatants was measured by an ELISA. Cells of a human gastric cancer cell line, MKN45,were then co-cultured with the supernatants, with and without monoclonal anti-MIF antibody for 24 h. The cells were further incubated for 12 h after addition of 3H-thymidine, and the levels of incorporation of 3H-thymidine were measured with a liquid scintillation counter.RESULTS: The wild-type strain and the isogenic mutants,TN2△cagA and TN2△cagE, increased MIF release at organism/cell ratios of 200/1 and 400/1, but not at the ratios of 50/1 and 100/1. However, the mutant TN2△cag did not increase the release of MIF at any of the four ratios.3H-thymidine readings for MKN-45 cells were significantly increased with supernatants derived from the wild-type strain and the mutants TN2△cagA and TN2△cagE, but not from the mutant TN2△cag. Moreover, in the presence of monoclonal anti-MIF antibody, the stimulatory effects of the wild-type strain on cell proliferation disappeared.CONCLUSION: H pylori stimulates MIF release in monocytes, likely through its cag PAI, but not related to cagA or cagE. 2Numerical simulation of low pressure die-casting aluminum wheel显示文摘The FDM numerical simulation software,ViewCast system,was employed to simulate the low pressure die casting(LPDC)of an aluminum wheel.By analyzing the mold-filling and solidification stage of the LPDC process,the distribution of liquid fraction,temperature field and solidification pattern of castings were studied.The potential shrinkage defects were predicted to be formed at the rim/spoke junctions,which is in consistence with the X-ray detection result.The distribution pattern of the defects has also been studied.A solution towards reducing such defects has been presented.The cooling capacity of the mold was improved by installing water pipes both in the side mold and the top mold.Analysis on the shrinkage defects under forced cooling mode proved that adding the cooling system in the mold is an effective method for reduction of shrinkage defects.Mi Guofa Liu Xiangyu Wang Kuangfei Fu Hengzhi 2009China Foundry2009,6,1:11

7Ecotoxicological effects of mixed pollutants resulted from e-wastes recycling and bioaccumulation of polybrominated diphenyl ethers in Chinese loach(Misgurnus anguillicaudatus)显示文摘To understand potential ecotoxicological effects of electrical and electronic equipment waste (e-waste) recycling and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) bioaccumulation in loaches, a semi-field experiment using Chinese loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) as experimental fish was performed. Larval loaches were kept in net-cage for three months in an e-wastes recycling site and a reference site in Southeastern China. There was significant difference of the survival rate between the loaches from the e-wastes recycling site (27%, 19/70) and from reference site (70%, 49/70). Histopathological responses were also found in all the livers examined in loaches from the e-wastes recycling site. These results showed that mixed pollutants resulted from e-wastes recycling led to ecotoxicological effects on loaches. The bioaccumulation of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), the main pollutants in e-waste, in loaches was also studied, the mean concentration of total PBDEs in sediment was 6726.17 ng/g wet weight and in water samples was 4.08 ng/L (dissolved phase). BDE 209 was the dominant congener in sediment and with relatively high concentration in water. 8Numerical simulation and optimization of Al alloy cylinder body by low pressure die casting显示文摘Shrinkage defects can be formed easily at critical location during low pressure die casting (LPDC) of aluminum alloy cylinder body. It has harmful effect on the products. Mold filling and solidification process of a cylinder body was simulated by using of Z-CAST software. The casting method was improved based on the simulation results. In order to create effective feeding passage, the structure of casting was modified by changing the location of strengthening ribs at the bottom, without causing any adverse effect on the part's performance. Inserting copper billet at suitable location of the die is a valid way to create suitable solidification sequence that is beneficial to the feeding. 9Substrate stiffness differentially impacts autophagy of endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells显示文摘Stiffening of blood vessels is one of the most important characteristics in the process of many cardiovascular pathologies such as atherosclerosis,angiosteosis,and vascular aging.Increased stiffness of the vascular extracellular matrix drives artery pathology and alters phenotypes of vascular cell.Understanding how substrate stiffness impacts vascular cell behaviors is of great importance to the biomaterial design in tissue engineering,regenerative medicine,and medical devices.Here we report that changing substrate stiffness has a significant impact on the autophagy of vascular endothelial cells(VECs)and smooth muscle cells(VSMCs).Interestingly,our findings demonstrate that,with the increase of substrate stiffness,the autophagy level of VECs and VSMCs showed differential changes:endothelial autophagy levels reduced,leading to the reductions in a range of gene expression associated with endothelial function;while,autophagy levels of VSMCs increased,showing a transition from contractile to the synthetic phenotype.We further demonstrate that,by inhibiting cell autophagy,the expressions of endothelial functional gene were further reduced and the expression of VSMC calponin increased,suggesting an important role of autophagy in response of the cells to the challenge of microenvironment stiffness changing.Although the underlying mechanism requires further study,this work highlights the relationship of substrate stiffness,autophagy,and vascular cell behaviors,and enlightening the design principles of surface stiffness of biomaterials in cardiovascular practical applications.Mi Hu Fan Jia Wei-Pin Huang Xu Li Deng-Feng Hu Jing Wang Ke-Feng Ren Guo-Sheng Fu Yun-Bing Wang Jian Ji 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:5

11Cytokines predict virological response in chronic hepatitis B patients receiving peginterferon alfa-2a therapy显示文摘BACKGROUND Chronic hepatitis B virus infection remains a major global public health problem.Peginterferon-alpha-2a(PEG-IFN)has direct antiviral and immunoregulatory effects,and it has become one of the first choice drugs for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Cytokines play an important role in immunity,and they directly inhibit viral replication and indirectly determine the predominant pattern of the host immune response.AIM To determine the correlation between cytokine/chemokine expression levels and response to PEG-IFN treatment in patients with CHB.METHODS Forty-six kinds of cytokines were analyzed before PEG-IFN therapy and at 24 wk during therapy in 26 CHB patients.RESULTS The monokine induced by INF-γ(CXCL9)and serum interferon-inducible protein 10(IP-10)levels at baseline were higher in virological responders than in nonvirological responders(NRs)and decreased during treatment,whereas the NRs did not exhibit significant changes.The macrophage inflammatory protein 1d(MIP-1d)levels at baseline and during treatment were significantly higher in the virological responders than in the NRs,while thymus and activation-regulated chemokine(TARC)levels at baseline and during treatment were significantly lower in the virological responders than in the NRs.The CXCL9,IP-10,MIP-1d,and TARC baseline levels exhibited the expected effects for interferon treatment.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values of CXCL9,IP-10,MIP-1d,and TARC for predicting virological responses were 0.787,0.799,0.787,and 0.77(P=0.01,0.013,0.01,and 0.021),respectively.CONCLUSION We found that cytokine levels before and during treatment may represent potential biomarkers to select CHB patients who can respond to PEG-IFN.Therefore,cytokines can be used as an indicator of antiviral drug selection before CHB treatment.Wen-Kang Fu Jie Cao Ning-Ning Mi Chong-Fei Huang Long Gao Jin-Duo Zhang Ping Yue Bing Bai Yan-Yan Lin Wen-Bo Meng 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,11:4

16Self‐suspended rare‐earth doped up‐conversion luminescent waveguide:propagating and directional radiation显示文摘Near-infrared excited rare-earth(RE)-doped up-conversion(UC)-luminescent materials have attracted enormous attention because of their unique emission properties,such as narrow emission bands,long luminescence lifetimes,and multiple colors.However,current development of RE-doped luminescent material is hindered by weak and narrowband absorption problems and low photon-conversion quantum efficiencies.In addition to conventional approaches to enhance fluorescence intensity,controlling emission directivity to improve detection efficiency has become a promising approach to obtain higher luminescence brightnesses.In this paper,a self-suspended RE-doped UC luminescent waveguide is designed to realize directional emissions.Benefitting from the special morphology of the crown-like NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+microparticle,the points contact between the waveguide and substrate can be obtained to decrease energy loss.An attractive UC luminescent pattern accompanied by powerful and controllable directional emissions is observed,and the spatial emission angle and intensity distribution are explored and analyzed in detail by introducing Fourier imaging detection and simulation.This work provides a new method for achieving controllable directional fluorescence emissions and obtaining improved detection efficiency by narrowing emission directivity,which has potential applications in 3-dimensional displays and micro-optoelectronic devices,especially when fabricating self-fluorescence micron lasers.Changjian Zhang Chengyun Zhang Zhenglong Zhang Tao He Xiaohu Mi Ting Kong Zhengkun Fu Hairong Zheng Hongxing Xu 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,6:3
17Dietary Behaviors and Influencing Factors among Rural Left-behind Children Aged below 7 Years in China显示文摘Left-behind children comprise a special population in Chinese rural areas. According to the 2007 China Census, the number of left-behind children aged ≤ 14 years was estimated at 58 million, which suggested that these children constituted a large population, especially in Chinese rural areas[1]. Till date, only a few studies have investigated the problems of dietary behaviors in rural left-behind children. A pilot study indicated that approximately 50% of left-behind children in Chinese rural areas had poor dietary behaviors[2]. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of research with large sample sizes that could reveal the actual background of dietary behaviors in these children. 18Associations between serum uric acid and hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer:A cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism.Previous studies have found that serum uric acid(SUA)levels are associated with the total cancer risk.However,due to the dual effect of uric acid on cancer,the relationship between the SUA levels and most specific-site cancer remains unclear.AIM To investigate the associations between the SUA levels and incidence of hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer.METHODS In this prospective cohort study,444462 participants free of cancer from the UK Biobank were included.The SUA levels were measured at baseline,and the incidence of hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer was determined by contacting the cancer registry.The hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)between the SUA levels and hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer were investigated using multiple adjusted Cox regression models adjusted for potential confounders.RESULTS In total,920 participants developed liver,gallbladder,biliary tract or pancreatic cancer during a median of 6.6 yrs of follow-up.We found that the HR of pancreatic cancer in the highest SUA group was 1.77(95%CI:1.29-2.42)compared with that in the lowest group.After stratifying by gender,we further found that SUA was associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer only among the females(highest quartile vs lowest quartile HR 2.04,95%CI:1.35-3.08).Among the males,the SUA levels were positively associated with the gallbladder cancer risk(highest quartile vs lowest quartile HR 3.09,95%CI:1.28-7.46),but a U-shaped association with the liver cancer risk was observed(P-nonlinear=0.03).CONCLUSION SUA is likely to have gender-specific effects on hepatobiliary-pancreatic cancer.High SUA levels are a risk factor for pancreatic cancer in females and gallbladder cancer in males.A U-shaped association with the liver cancer risk was identified.Chong-Fei Huang Jun-Jun Huang Ning-Ning Mi Yan-Yan Lin Qiang-Sheng He Ya-Wen Lu Ping Yue Bing Bai Jin-Duo Zhang Chao Zhang Teng Cai Wen-Kang Fu Long Gao Xun Li Jin-Qiu Yuan Wen-Bo Meng 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,44:2
19Effect of Molecular Weight on the Properties of Poly(butylene succinate)显示文摘Poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) with different molecular weight was synthesized from 1, 4-butanediol and succinic acid by direct melt condensation. The synthesized PBS was identified by 1H-NMR and FTIR spectrometry. The molecular weight was calculated from the intrinsic viscosity, and its value was between 20000 and 70000. The crystallization behavior and crystal morphology as function of molecular weight were investigated by DSC and PLM, respectively. The mechanical properties and hydrolytic degradation behaviors related with change of molecular weight were also studied in this work. The results demonstrated that the properties of PBS were determined by both molecular weight and crystallization properties(crystallinity as well as crystal morphology). 20Modeling of Cell/Dendrite Transition During Directional Solidification of Ti-Al Alloy Using Cellular Automaton Method显示文摘Solute diffusion controlled solidification model was used to simulate the initial stage cellular to dendrite transition of Ti44Al alloys during directional solidification at different velocities. The simulation results show that during this process, a mixed structure composed of cells and dendrites was observed,where secondary dendrites are absent at facing surface with parallel closely spaced dendrites, which agrees with the previous experimental observation. The dendrite spacings are larger than cellular spacings at a given rate, and the columnar grain spacing sharply increases to a maximum as solidification advance to coexistence zone. In addition, simulation also revealed that decreasing the numbers of the seed causes the trend of unstable dendrite transition to increase. Finally, the main influence factors affecting cell/dendrite transition were analyzed, which could be the change of growth rates resulting in slight fluctuations of liquid composition occurred at growth front.
