| 1 | Cryogenic 3D printing of dual-delivery scaffolds for improved bone regeneration with enhanced vascularization显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)printing has been increasingly employed to produce advanced bone tissue engineering scaffolds with biomimetic structures and matched mechanical strengths,in order to induce improved bone regeneration in defects with a critical size.Given that the successful bone regeneration requires both excellent osteogenesis and vascularization,endowing scaffolds with both strong bone forming ability and favorable angiogenic potential would be highly desirable to induce improved bone regeneration with required vascularization.In this investigation,customized bone tissue engineering scaffolds with balanced osteoconductivity/osteoinductivity were produced via cryogenic 3D printing ofβ-tricalcium phosphate and osteogenic peptide(OP)containing water/poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)/dichloromethane emulsion inks.The fabricated scaffolds had a hierarchically porous structure and were mechanically comparable to human cancellous bone.Angiogenic peptide(AP)containing collagen I hydrogel was then coated on scaffold surface to further provide scaffolds with angiogenic capability.A sequential release with a quick AP release and a slow but sustained OP release was obtained for the scaffolds.Both rat endothelial cells(ECs)and rat bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)showed high viability on scaffolds.Improved in vitro migration and angiogenesis of ECs were obtained for scaffolds delivered with AP while enhanced osteogenic differentiation was observed in scaffolds containing OP.The in vivo results showed that,toward scaffolds containing both AP and OP,the quick release of AP induced obvious angiogenesis in vivo,while the sustained OP release significantly improved the new bone formation.This study provides a facile method to produce dual-delivery scaffolds to achieve multiple functions. | Chong Wang Jiahui Lai Kai Li Shaokui Zhu Bingheng Lu Jia Liu Yujin Tang Yen Wei | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Heterosis and combining ability evaluation for growth traits of blunt snout bream(Megalobrama amblycephala)when crossbreeding three strains显示文摘The blunt snout bream(Megalobrama amblycephala)is a major aquaculture species in the Chinese freshwater polyculture system.In this study,complete diallel crossing of three strains(i.e.,Liangzi[LZ],Poyang[PY]and Yuni[YN])was used to evaluate the combining ability and heterosis effect of intraspecific crossbreeding on the growth performance(i.e.,body weight,total length,body length,body height,and Fulton’s coefficient of condition).The offspring produced from the three strains were reared in a communal pond for 20 months,and nine microsatellites were used to assess their pedigree.Of the749 offspring,708(94.53%)could be assigned directly to a single parental pair.Significant differences were observed in body weight(BW)among the different combinations,indicating that the combining ability of BW from each strain was significantly different.The general combining ability(GCA)of BW from the sire was much higher than that from the dam.The GCA for the dam and sire of the LZ and YN were the largest and the smallest,respectively.The special combining ability of YN$9 PY#was the largest,and YN$9 PY#showed significantly positive heterosis effects on all F1growth traits,except for Fulton’s condition coefficient(K)(P\0.05).In addition,significant positive linear correlations were found between the mean BW of corresponding progeny and the H E of the parental generation(y=600.7x-29.472,r=0.8651,P=0.0026),H O(y=1206.9x-518.14,r=0.7436,P=0.0216),and the polymorphism information content(y=1021.3x-331.31,r=0.8245,P=0.0063)as determined by a correlative test.The findings obtained from the study will be important for future considerations of M.amblycephala stock improvement programs. | Wei Luo Cong Zeng Shaokui Yi Nicholas Robinson Weimin Wang Zexia Gao | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,9: | 7 |

| 4 | Methylesterification of cell-wall pectin controls the diurnal flower-opening times in rice显示文摘Flowers are the core reproductive organ of plants, and flowering is essential for cross-pollination. Diurnal flower-opening time is thus a key trait influencing reproductive isolation, hybrid breeding, and thermostability in plants. However, the molecular mechanisms controlling this trait remain unknown. Here, we report that rice Diurnal Flower Opening Time 1 (DFOT1) modulates pectin methylesterase (PME) activity to regulate pectin methylesterification levels of the lodicule cell walls, which affect lodicule swelling to control diurnal flower-opening time. DFOT1 is specifically expressed in the lodicules, and its expression gradually increases with the approach to flowering but decreases with flowering. Importantly, a knockout of DFOT1 showed earlier diurnal flower opening. We demonstrate that DFOT1 interacts directly with multiple PMEs to promote their activity. Knockout of PME40 also resulted in early diurnal flower opening, whereas overexpression of PME42 delayed diurnal flower opening. Lower PME activity was observed to be associated with higher levels of pectin methylesterification and the softening of cell walls in lodicules, which contribute to the absorption of water by lodicules and cause them to swell, thus promoting early diurnal flower opening. Higher PME activity had the opposite effect. | 5 | Very high upper critical fields of F-doped Fe-based layered superconductors NdO_(0.88)F_(0.12)FeAs and CeO_(0.88)F_(0.12)FeAs显示文摘Using the solid state reaction method, we have synthesized the polycrystalline F-doped NdO0.88F0.12FeAs and CeO0.88F0.12FeAs with the superconducting transition temperatures at about 48 and 40 K, respectively. To obtain the upper critical field Hc2 of Nd(Ce)O0.88F0.12FeAs samples, we measured the electrical resistivity under magnetic field up to 14 T. | 6 | Enhanced uptake and anti-maturation effect of celastrol-loaded mannosylated liposomes on dendritic cells for psoriasis treatment显示文摘Psoriasis is an autoimmune skin disease in which dendritic cells(DCs) trigger the progression of psoriasis by complex interactions with keratinocytes and other immune cells. In the present study,we aimed to load celastrol, an anti-inflammatory ingredient isolated from Chinese herbs, on mannosylated liposomes to enhance DC uptake as well as to induce DC tolerance in an imiquimod-induced psoriasis-like mouse model. Mannose was grafted onto liposomes to target mannose receptors on DCs. The results demonstrated that compared with unmodified liposomes, DCs preferred to take up more fluorescence-labeled mannosylated liposomes. After loading celastrol into mannose-modified liposomes,they effectively inhibited the expression of maturation markers, including CD80, CD86 and MHC-II, on DCs both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, after intradermal injection with a microneedle, celastrolloaded mannose-modified liposomes(CEL-MAN-LPs) achieved a superior therapeutic effect compared with free drug and celastrol-loaded unmodified liposomes in the psoriasis mouse model in terms of the psoriasis area and severity index, histology evaluation, spleen weight, and expression of inflammatory cytokines. | 12 | Hierarchical N-Doped Porous Carbons for Zn–Air Batteries and Supercapacitors显示文摘Nitrogen-doped carbon materials with a large specific surface area,high conductivity,and adjustable microstructures have many prospects for energy-related applications.This is especially true for N-doped nanocarbons used in the electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and supercapacitors.Here,we report a low-cost,environmentally friendly,large-scale mechanochemical method of preparing N-doped porous carbons(NPCs)with hierarchical micro-mesopores and a large surface area via ball-milling polymerization followed by pyrolysis.The optimized NPC prepared at 1000°C(NPC-1000)offers excellent ORR activity with an onset potential(Eonset)and half-wave potential(E1/2)of 0.9 and 0.82 V,respectively(vs.a reversible hydrogen electrode),which are only approximately 30 mV lower than that of Pt/C.The rechargeable Zn–air battery assembled using NPC-1000 and the NiFe-layered double hydroxide as bifunctional ORR and oxygen evolution reaction electrodes offered superior cycling stability and comparable discharge performance to RuO2 and Pt/C.Moreover,the supercapacitor electrode equipped with NPC prepared at 800℃ exhibited a high specific capacity(431 F g^−1 at 10 mV s^−1),outstanding rate,performance,and excellent cycling stability in an aqueous 6-M KOH solution.This work demonstrates the potential of the mechanochemical preparation method of porous carbons,which are important for energy conversion and storage. | Beibei Guo Ruguang Ma Zichuang Li Shaokui Guo Jun Luo Minghui Yang Qian Liu Tiju Thomas Jiacheng Wang | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,2: | 1 |
