1Seasonal and spatial distributions of euphotic zone and longterm variations in water transparency in a clear oligotrophic Lake Fuxian, China显示文摘To assess the seasonal and spatial variations and long-term trends in water optical properties in Lake Fuxian, investigations based on field work in four seasons and a long-term analysis of data from 1980 to 2014 were conducted. The results show that there was no significant variation in the euphotic depth(Z_(eu)) across the four seasons, and no significant correlations between Z_(eu) and potential influencing factors in seasons other than summer, suggesting that the water itself may be a major factor regulating the Z_(eu)in general. Nevertheless, significant differences in Z_(eu) between the north region(NR) and the south region(SR) were observed in all seasonal tests except spring. This finding relates to a higher abundance of chromophoric dissolved organic matter(CDOM) in the NR due to runoff, especially in the rainy seasons(summer and autumn).CDOM and its terrigenous component had an important impact on Z_(eu)in summer, with the highest precipitation, and impacts from suspended solids and non-algal particles were also found in the NR in summer. The Secchi disk depth in the lake decreased clearly over the years,with significantly negative correlations with the increasing permanganate index and air temperature, implying that organic contaminants(CDOM and/or phytoplankton) are important regulators of water transparency. We estimate that the combined effects of climate warming and changes in land use and land cover are also indirect regulating factors. 2Perilla oil and exercise decrease expressions of tumor necrosis factor-α,plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and highly sensitive C-reactive protein in patients with hyperlipidemia显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To verify the effects of perilla oil on the regulation of blood lipid levels in patients with hyperlipidemia.METHODS:Blood was taken from patients prior to and 8 weeks following treatment with perilla oil.Different ways to test for indexes which correlate to hyperlipidemia were performed.Some indexes,which correlate with inflammation and injury to endothelial cells,were tested using enzyme linked immunosorbent assays.RESULTS:Serum lipid levels [triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C)] changed significantly after 56 days of treatment.Differences were noted as early as 28 days after treatment began(P<0.05).Treatment with perilla oil showed statistically significant recovery levels of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol(HDL-C) after 28 and 56 days of treatment.Plasma lipids levels were significantly lower after 56 days of treatment(P<0.05).Perilla oil reduced blood lipid levels in patients,and the regulation of cell signaling factor levels had no adverse effects on patients' liver or kidney function,or blood routine examinations.CONCLUSION:Perilla oil treatment is safe in clinical use,can regulate blood lipid levels and protects the function of endothelial cells.Minggang Wei Peihua Xiong Ling Zhang Mei Fei Aiping Chen Fengling Li 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2:10
3Combined genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic an alyses provide in sights into chayote (Sechium edule) evolution and fruit development显示文摘Chayote(Sechium edule)is an agricultural crop in the Cucurbitaceae family that is rich in bioactive components.To enhance genetic research on chayote,we used Nanopore third-generation sequencing combined with Hi-C data to assemble a draft chayote genome.A chromosome-level assembly anchored on 14 chromosomes(N50 contig and scaffold sizes of 8.40 and 46.56 Mb,respectively)estimated the genome size as 606.42 Mb,which is large for the Cucurbitaceae,with 65.94%(401.08 Mb)ofthe genome comprising repetitive sequences;28,237 protein-coding genes were predicted.Comparative genome analysis indicated that chayote and snake gourd diverged from sponge gourd and that a whole-genome duplication(WGD)event occurred in chayote at 25±4 Mya.Transcriptional and metabolic analysis revealed genes involved in fruit texture,pigment,fl avor,fl avonoids,antioxidants,and plant hormones during chayote fruit development.The analysis of the genome,transcriptome,and metabolome provides insights into chayote evolution and lays the groundwork for future research on fruit and tuber development and genetic improvements in chayote.Anzhen Fu Qing Wang Jianlou Mu Lili Ma Changlong Wen Xiaoyan Zhao Lipu Gao Jian Li Kai Shi Yunxiang Wang Xuechuan Zhang Xuewen Zhang Fengling Wang Donald Grierson Jinhua Zuo 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:6
4Carbon Stock of Larch Plantations and Its Comparison with an Old-growth Forest in Northeast China显示文摘The overall goal of this study was to understand carbon(C) stock dynamics in four different-aged Japanese larch(Larix kaempferi) plantations in Northeast China that were established after clear-cutting old-growth Korean pine deciduous forests. Four Japanese larch plantations which were at 10, 15, 21, and 35 years old and an old-growth Korean pine deciduous forest which was 300 years old in Northeast China were selected and sampled. We compared the C pools of biomass(tree, shrub and herb), litterfall(LF), and soil organic carbon(SOC) among them. The biomass C stock of larch plantation at 10, 15, 21, and 35 years old was 26.8, 37.9, 63.6, and 83.2 Mg/ha, respectively, while the biomass C stock of the old-growth Korean pine deciduous forest was 175.1 Mg/ha. The SOC stock of these larch plantations was 172.1, 169.7, 140.3, and 136.2 Mg/ha respectively, and SOC stock of 170.4 Mg/ha in the control of old-growth forest. The biomass C stock increased with stand age of larch plantations, whereas SOC stock decreased with age, and C stock of LF did not change significantly(P > 0.05). The increase of biomass C offset the decline of SOC stock with age, making total carbon stock(TCS) of larch plantations stable from stand ages of 10–35 years. 5Multiple sulfur and oxygen isotope compositions in Beijing aerosol显示文摘Multiple sulfur isotopes(32S, 33 S, 34 S, 36S) and oxygen isotopes(16O, 18O) in Beijing aerosols were measured with MAT-253 isotope mass spectrometer. The δ34S values of Beijing aerosol samples range from 1.68‰ to 12.57‰ with an average value of 5.86‰, indicating that the major sulfur source is from direct emission during coal combustion. The δ18O values vary from 5.29‰ to 9.02‰ with an average value of 5.17‰, revealing that the sulfate in Beijing aerosols is mainly composed of the secondary sulfate. The main heterogeneous oxidation of SO2 in atmosphere is related to H2O2 in July and August, whereas H2O2 oxidation and Fe3+ catalytic oxidation with SO2 exist simultaneously in September and October. Remarkable sulfur isotope mass-independent fractionation effect is found in Beijing aerosols, which is commonly attributed to the photochemical oxidation of SO2 in the stratosphere. 7Combined peripheral natural killer cell and circulating tumor cell enumeration enhance prognostic efficiency in patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer显示文摘Objective:Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is a heterogeneous disease with poor prognosis.Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)are a promising predictor for breast cancer prognoses but their reliability regarding progression-free survival(PFS)is controversial.We aim to verify their predictive value in TNBC.Methods:In present prospective cohort study,we used the Pep@MNPs method to enumerate CTCs in baseline blood samples from 75 patients with TNBC(taken at inclusion in this study)and analyzed correlations between CTC numbers and outcomes and other clinical parameters.Results:Median PFS was 6.0(range:1.0–25.0)months for the entire cohort,in whom we found no correlations between baseline CTC status and initial tumor stage(P=0.167),tumor grade(P=0.783)or histological type(P=0.084).However,among those getting first-line treatment,baseline CTC status was positively correlated with ratio of peripheral natural killer(NK)cells(P=0.032),presence of lung metastasis(P=0.034)and number of visceral metastatic site(P=0.037).Baseline CTC status was predictive for PFS in first-line TNBC(P=0.033),but not for the cohort as a whole(P=0.118).This prognostic limitation of CTC could be ameliorated by combining CTC and NK cell enumeration(P=0.049).Conclusions:Baseline CTC status was predictive of lung metastasis,peripheral NK cell ratio and PFS in TNBC patients undergoing first-line treatment.We have developed a combined CTC-NK enumeration strategy that allows us to predict PFS in TNBC without any preconditions.Xiaoran Liu Ran Ran Bin Shao Hope S.Rugo Yanlian Yang Zhiyuan Hu Zewen Wei Fengling Wan Weiyao Kong Guohong Song Hanfang Jiang Xu Liang Ruyan Zhang Ying Yan Guobing Xu Huiping Li 2018Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2018,30,3:4
8Qiguiyishen decoction reduced the accumulation of extracellular matrix in the kidneys of rats with adriamycin-induced nephropathy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Qiguiyishen decoction(QGYS) on the severity of nephropathy.METHODS: Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into four groups(Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ) according to the random number table. Group Ⅰ as control group did not establish nephropathy model. Groups Ⅱ,Ⅲ, and Ⅳ were intravenously administered Adriamycin(7.5 mg/kg) through the tail vein to establish nephropathy model. QGYS was prepared with the extracts of Huangqi(Radix Astragali Mongolici),Danggui(Radix Angelicae Sinensis),Niuxi(RadixAchyran-this Bidentatae), and Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong).Group Ⅳ was administered QGYS (2mL·kg-1·d-1), group Ⅲ was administered benazepril(10 mL·kg-1·d-1), and group Ⅰ, Ⅱ was administered water(2mL·kg-1·d-1)once daily for eight weeks.RESULTS: QGYS reduced the excretion of urinary protein and N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase and alleviated the accumulation of extracellular matrix(ECM) in renal tissue. 9Ecosystem health assessment of urban rivers and lakes-Case study of “the six lakes”in Beijing,China显示文摘The assessment of the ecosystem health of urban rivers and lakes is the scientific basis for their management and ecological restoration.This study developed a three-level indicator system for its assessment.The results indicated that:Zhonghai and Nanhai are in the state of transition from unhealthy to critical state and all the other lakes are in unhealthy states.Water environmental quality,structure and function of the aquatic ecosystem,and the structure of waterfront areas were the constraints.Nanhai was ranked as poor and the others were all ranked as very poor.However,the ecological environment of Zhonghai and Nanhai were better than the others,the sums of the degree of membership to the healthy state and critical state were all close to 0.6.and the restorations of these lakes were moderate.The sums of the degree of membership to the healthy state and critical state of the other lakes were under 0.3,as it was difficult to restore these lakes.Some suggestions on scientific management and ecological restoration of the six lakes were proposed:①To control non-point pollution and to improve the water quality of six lakes and the water entering into these lakes;②To improve the hydrological conditions of six lakes;③To rehabilitate the aquatic ecosystem and waterfront areas.Fengling ZHANG Jingling LIU Zhifeng YANG Yongli LI 2008Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,2:3
10Overcoming chemotherapy resistance via simultaneous drug-efflux circumvention and mitochondrial targeting显示文摘Multidrug resistance(MDR) has been considered as a huge challenge to the effective chemotherapy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new strategies to effectively overcome MDR. Here,based on the previous research of N-(2-hydroxypropyl)methacrylamide(HPMA) polymer–drug conjugates, we designed an effective system that combined drug-efflux circumvention and mitochondria targeting of anticancer drug doxorubicin(Dox). Briefly, Dox was modified with mitochondrial membrane penetrating peptide(MPP) and then attached to(HPMA) copolymers(P-M-Dox). Our study showed that macromolecular HPMA copolymers successfully bypassed drug efflux pumps and escorted Dox into resistant MCF-7/ADR cells via endocytic pathway. Subsequently, the mitochondria accumulation of drugs was significantly enhanced with 11.6-fold increase by MPP modification. The excellent mitochondria targeting then resulted in significant enhancement of reactive oxygen species(ROS) as well as reduction of adenosine triphosphate(ATP)production, which could further inhibit drug efflux and resistant cancer cell growth. By reversing Dox resistance, P-M-Dox achieved much better suppression in the growth of 3D MCF-7/ADR tumor spheroids compared with free Dox. 12A Multi-interlayer LMAS Joint of C/C-SiC Composites and LAS Glass Ceramics显示文摘Porous C/C-SiC composites were prepared through a two-step chemical vapor infiltration process,and a multi-interlayer joint of Li20-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2(LMAS) was applied to join C/C-SiC composites and lithium aluminum silicate(LAS) glass ceramics by means of a vacuum hot-pressing technique.Plenty of SiC whiskers were generated in the pores of low-density C/C composites during chemical vapor deposition process,which is essentia! to form a zigzag interface structure between C/C-SiC substrate and the LMAS interlayer.The average shear strength of the LMAS joint was improved from 12.17 to 19.91 MPa after changing the composites from high-density C/C composites(1.75 g/cm^3) with a CVD-SiC coating to the C/C-SiC composites with a low density(1.48 g/cm^3).The improvement of the joint strength is mainly attributed to the formation of the inlay structure at the SiC-C/C and SiC-LMAS interfaces.Qiangang Fu Fengling Zhao Hejun Li Han Peng Xiaoying Nan 2015Journal of Materials Science & Technology2015,31,5:2

16Ectopic expression of antifreeze protein gene from Ammopiptanthus nanus confers chilling tolerance in maize显示文摘Improved chilling tolerance is important for maize production. Previous efforts in transgenics and marker-assisted breeding have not achieved practical results. In this study, the antifreeze protein(AnAFP) from the super-xerophyte Ammopiptanthus nanus was aligned to KnS-type dehydrins.Phosphorylation in vitro and subcellular localization showed that AnAFP was phosphorylated by maize casein kinase II and translocated from nucleus to cytoplasm under chilling stress. AnAFP also increased lactate dehydrogenase activity. A parent line of commercial maize hybrids was transformed with the AnAFP gene. Based on thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR, one hemizygous and two homozygous integration sites were identified in one T_(1) line. Ectopic expression of AnAFP in transgenic lines was confirmed by quantitative real-time PCR, RNA-seq, and Western blotting. After chilling treatment, the transgenic lines showed significantly improved phenotype, higher kernel production, survival rate and biomass, and lower relative electrolyte leakage and superoxide dismutation than the untransformed line. 17BiVO_(4)/TiO_(2) heterojunction with rich oxygen vacancies for enhanced electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction显示文摘The large-scale production of ammonia mainly depends on the Haber-Bosch process,which will lead to the problems of high energy consumption and carbon dioxide emission.Electrochemical nitrogen fixation is considered to be an environmental friendly and sustainable process,but its efficiency largely depends on the activity and stability of the catalyst.Therefore,it is imperative to develop high-efficient electrocatalysts in the field of nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR).In this paper,we developed a BiVO_(4)/TiO_(2) nanotube(BiVO_(4)/TNT)heterojunction composite with rich oxygen vacancies as an electrocatalytic NRR catalyst.The heterojunction interface and oxygen vacancy of BiVO_(4)/TNT can be the active site of N2 dynamic activation and proton transition.The synergistic effect of TiO_(2) and BiVO_(4) shortens the proton transport path and reduces the over potential of chemical reaction.BiVO_(4)/TNT has high ammonia yield of 8.54µg·h^(−1)·cm^(−2) and high Faraday efficiency of 7.70%in−0.8 V vs.RHE in 0.1 M Na_(2)SO_(4) solution.Yunliang Liu Peiji Deng Ruqiang Wu Ramadan A.Geioushy Yaxi Li Yixian Liu Fengling Zhou Haitao Li Chenghua Sun 2021Frontiers of physics2021,16,5:1
