1Major reactive species of ambient volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and their sources in Beijing显示文摘Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are important precursors of atmospheric chemical processes. As a whole mixture, the ambient VOCs show very strong chemical reactivity. Based on OH radical loss rates in the air, the chemical reactivity of VOCs in Beijing was calculated. The results revealed that alkenes, accounting for only about 15% in the mixing ratio of VOCs, provide nearly 75% of the reactivity of ambient VOCs and the C4 to C5 alkenes were the major reactive species among the alkenes. The study of emission characteristics of various VOCs sources indicated that these alkenes are mainly from vehicle exhaust and gasoline evaporation. 2Inducible regulation of GDNF expression in human neural stem cells显示文摘Glial cell derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) holds promises for treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease. Human neural stem cells (hNSCs) have proved to be a suitable cell delivery vehicle for the safe and efficient introduction of GDNF into the brain. In this study, we used hNSCs-infected with a lentivirus encoding GDNF and the hygromycin resistance gene as such vehicles. A modified tetracycline operator 7 (tetO7) was inserted into a region upstream of the EF1- promoter to drive GDNF expression. After hygromycin selection, hNSCs were infected with a lentivirus encoding a KRAB-tetracycline repressor fusion protein (TTS). TTS bound to tetO7 and suppressed the expression of GDNF in hNSCs. Upon administration of doxycycline (Dox) the TTS-tetO7 complex separated and the expression of GDNF resumed. The hNSCs infected with GDNF expressed the neural stem cell specific markers, nestin and sox2, and exhibited no significant change in proliferation rate. However, the rate of apoptosis in hNSCs expressing GDNF was lower compared with normal NSCs in response to actinomycin treatment. Furthermore, a higher percentage of Tuj-1 positive cells were obtained from GDNF-producing NSCs under conditions that induced differentiation compared to control NSCs. 3High-yield preparation of robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles with good biocompatiblity显示文摘Although gold nanoshells are widely considered as one of the promising photothermal nanomaterials used for biomedicine, the high cost, low yield and poor stability severely limit their potential application in clinical trials.Herein, robust gold nanoshells on silica nanorattles(GSNs)were easily prepared in a high yield by an improved seedmediated method employing polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) as a stabilizing and capping agent. The present method is very simple, effective and reproducible and can well control the growth process of gold nanoshells. The as-prepared GSNs have a narrow size distribution(<10 % in standard deviation). Furthermore, the utilization rate of Au in the solution used for the growth of gold nanoshells increases by 70 %than that in previous method. The resultant GSNs have a good structural stability after placing over 6 months due to the protection of PVP. More importantly, in vivo and in vitro toxic studies indicate that the GSNs have good biocompatibility. 4Targeting slug-mediated non-canonical activation of c-Met to overcome chemo-resistance in metastatic ovarian cancer cells显示文摘Metastasis-associated drug resistance accounts for high mortality in ovarian cancer and remains to be a major barrier for effective treatment. In this study, SKOV3/T4, a metastatic subpopulation of ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells, was enriched to explore potential interventions against metastaticassociated drug resistance. Quantitative genomic and functional analyses were performed and found that slug was significantly increased in the SKOV3/T4 subpopulation and contributed to the high resistance of SKOV3/T4. Further studies showed that slug activated c-Met in a ligand-independent manner due to elevated levels of fibronectin and provoked integrin α V function, which was confirmed by the significant correlation of slug and p-Met levels in 121 ovarian cancer patient samples. Intriguingly,c-Met inhibitor(s) exhibited greatly enhanced anti-cancer effects in slug-positive ovarian cancer models both in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, IHC analyses revealed that slug levels were highly correlated with reduced survival of ovarian cancer patients. 5SOD1^(G93A) Induces a Unique PSAP-Dependent Mitochondrial Apoptosis Pathway via Bax-Bak Interaction显示文摘Amyotrophic lateral syndrome(ALS)is a progressive degenerative disorder characterized by motor neuron death and axon degeneration.Mitochondrial dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ALS,the mechanism of which remains poorly understood.The B-cell lymphoma-2(Bcl-2)family of proteins that control and mediate mitochondrial function and apoptosis,including the pro-apoptotic members Bcl2-Associated X(Bax),are involved in ALS development.The death receptor 6(DR6)regulates motor neuron death in ALS,and DR6 antibodies can prevent axon degeneration and motor neuron damage by blocking DR6.Previous studies demonstrated that PSAP localized to mitochondria and was required for DR6-induced apoptosis.In this study,SOD1^(G93A) was transfected into the motor neuron cell line NSC-34 to serve as an ALS cell model in vitro.The data assessed the role of PSAP in SOD1^(G93A)induced apoptosis and demonstrated that the overexpression of SOD1^(G93A),but not wtSOD1,induced PARP cleavage,caspase-3 activation,cytochrome c release,and Bax translocation.PSAP,Bax,and Bak were necessary for SOD1^(G93A)induced apoptosis,as silencing PSAP inhibited SOD1^(G93A)-mediated cell death that was dependent on Bax-Bak interaction.HAN NIU XIN CHEN XUEQI FU JINGTIAN ZHANG GUODONG LI YUXIANG WANG JIAYUE SONG XUETING MA CHEN HU XUEMIN XU FUQIANG ZHANG LINLIN ZENG 2021BIOCELL2021,45,4:2

18Phenotypic and Genetic Characteristics of a Bordetella hinzii Isolated from a Rex Rabbit显示文摘A Bordetella hinzii strain,isolated from the lung of a dead breast-feeding infant rex rabbit with a respiratory infection,was used as study object to investigate its phenotypic and genetic characteristics. The strain could grow on Mac Conkey agar and was gram-negative,oxidase-positive,catalase-positive,short rodshaped,and it can produce alkali from malonate. Its 6S rRNA sequence was partially identical with B. hinzii( AF177667). Animal experiments revealed nasal mucous hyperemia,tracheal congestion and bronchopneumonia in 28-day old rex rabbits. 19Improvement of Poplar Bark Extract on Physiological Characters of Lactococcus lactis in Intestine of White Feather Broilers显示文摘[Objective]The paper was to study the improvement of poplar bark extract on intestinal Lactococcus lactis of white feather broilers.[Method]Totally 450 Ross 308 white-feather broilers were randomly divided into five groups:control group,low dose group,medium dose group,high dose group,and antibiotic group(oxytetracycline hydrochloride).The feeding duration was 45 d.The probiotics were screened and isolated through homology,and the physiological and biochemical characteristics of chicken intestinal bacteria in different groups were compared to determine the properties of bacterial strain.The drug resistance,antibacterial ability,proliferation ability,acid resistance and bile salt resistance of isolated strain were tested,and a strain of L.lactis was obtained.[Result]The isolated L.lactis was sensitive to other drugs except natural tetracyclines,and there was no significant difference among the four groups except oxytetracycline group;as the concentration of extract increased,the inhibition of L.lactis against Salmonella sp.increased;the medium dose extract had the largest increase in the ability to tolerate the proliferation of L.lactis.[Conclusion]Feeding poplar bark extract will produce positive effects on the physiological characters of intestinal L.lactis in broiler chicken,which will provide potential probiotic strain for chicken production.Liu Guofang Zheng Guangyao He Pengfei Song Chunlei Yan Linlin Chen Ming Luo Guilan Liu Fu'an Zhu Haoyuan Qin Dongyu 2020Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2020,12,3:0
20Iodine-catalyzed amination of benzothiazoles with KSeCN in water to access primary 2-aminobenzothiazoles显示文摘A facile and sustainable approach for the amination of benzothiazoles with KSe CN using iodine as the catalyst in water has been disclosed under transition-metal free conditions. The reaction proceeded smoothly to afford various primary 2-amino benzothiazoles in up to 96% yield. A series of control experiments were performed, suggesting a ring-opening mechanism was involved via a radical process.
