1Active power regulation of wind power systems through demand response显示文摘With the specific characteristics of low-carbon intensity and economy,wind power has been widely promoted around the world.Due to the variable and intermittent nature of wind power production,the system has to frequently redispatch generators in order to ensure the effective use of wind power whilst maintaining system security.In this way,traditional generation costs are increased and the social benefit of wind power decreases indirectly.In this paper,a new regulation strategy based on power flow tracing was proposed,taking advantage of a comfort-constrained demand response strategy to follow the fluctuations of wind farm output,with the remaining imbalance of active power compensated by traditional generators.Examples showed that compared with conventional regulation,demand response could reduce the gross operating costs of the system,and the rapid response could help maintaining system stability in case of contingency.The strategy in this paper also applies to other large-scale integration problems associated with renewable energy resources which display short-term production variability.MIAO WeiWei JIA HongJie WANG Dan PARKINSON Simon CRAWFORD Curran DJILALI Ned 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6:24
2High-Throughput Measurements of Stem Characteristics to Estimate Ear Density and Above-Ground Biomass显示文摘Total above-ground biomass at harvest and ear density are two important traits that characterize wheat genotypes.Two experiments were carried out in two different sites where several genotypes were grown under contrasted irrigation and nitrogen treatments.A high spatial resolution RGB camera was used to capture the residual stems standing straight after the cutting by the combine machine during harvest.It provided a ground spatial resolution better than 0.2 mm.A Faster Regional Convolutional Neural Network(Faster-RCNN)deep-learning model was first trained to identify the stems cross section.Results showed that the identification provided precision and recall close to 95%.Further,the balance between precision and recall allowed getting accurate estimates of the stem density with a relative RMSE close to 7%and robustness across the two experimental sites.The estimated stem density was also compared with the ear density measured in the field with traditional methods.A very high correlation was found with almost no bias,indicating that the stem density could be a good proxy of the ear density.The heritability/repeatability evaluated over 16 genotypes in one of the two experiments was slightly higher(80%)than that of the ear density(78%).The diameter of each stem was computed from the profile of gray values in the extracts of the stem cross section.Results show that the stem diameters follow a gamma distribution over eachmicroplot with an average diameter close to 2.0mm.Finally,the biovolume computed as the product of the average stem diameter,the stem density,and plant height is closely related to the above-ground biomass at harvest with a relative RMSE of 6%.Possible limitations of the findings and future applications are finally discussed.Xiuliang Jin Simon Madec Dan Dutartre Benoit de Solan Alexis Comar Frédéric Baret 2019Plant Phenomics2019,1,1:5

7Removal of roosters alters the domestic phenotype and microbial and genetic profile of hens显示文摘Hens are raised apart from roosters in modern poultry production, a substantial change from their natural social structure. We compared productivity, injuries, behavior, physiology, microbiome and transcriptome of hens housed with(R+) or without(R–)roosters to quantify the effects of this change in social structure. Hens were raised free-range from 70 to 280 days when 30 birds per treatment were assigned to battery cages until Day 315(R+C vs. R–C), while 30 birds per treatment remained in free-range pens(R+F vs. R–F). Response to a novel environment and object, behavioral time budgets, cecum microbiome, blood composition and transcriptomic sequencing of thigh muscle and spleen were analyzed. Hens housed without roosters showed better survival, consumed less food, produced more eggs and had better feed conversion. R+F hens clustered around the rooster and were less mobile in the novel environment and object tests. R+F hens displayed the richest microbiome, and the presence of roosters resulted in differentially expressed genes related to muscle development, cellular processes, environmental information processing and immune function.
