| 1 | Type 2 diabetes mellitus and CA 19-9 levels显示文摘AIM:To prospectively investigate serum CA 19-9 levels in type 2 diabetic patients in comparison with age-and gender-matched control subjects. METHODS:We recorded duration of diabetes and examined fasting glucose levels,HbA1c levels and serum CA 19-9 levels in 76 type 2 diabetic patients and 76 controls.Abdominal CT was performed in order to eliminate abdominal malignancy in the diabetic and control groups. RESULTS:The average CA 19-9 level was 46.0±22.4 U/mL for diabetic patients whereas it was 9.97±7.1 U/mL for the control group(P<0.001).Regression analysis showed a positive correlation between diabetes and CA 19-9 independent from age,gender,glucose level and HbA1c level(t=8.8,P<001).Two of the diabetic patients were excluded from the study because of abdominal malignancy shown by CT at the initial evaluation.For all patients,abdominal CT showed no pancreatic abnormalities. CONCLUSION:CA 19-9 is a tumor-associated antigen, which is elevated in pancreatic,upper gastrointestinal tract,ovarian hepatocellular,and colorectal cancers,as well as in inflammatory conditions of the hepatobiliary system,biliary obstruction and in thyroid diseases. Diabetes has been claimed to be a risk factor for pancreatic cancer,which is increasing its incidence and has one of the lowest survival rates of all cancers.CA 19-9 is used in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer but is also a marker of pancreatic tissue damage that might be caused by diabetes.We propose that a higher cut- off value of CA 19-9 should be used in diabetics to differentiate benign and malignant pancreatic disease, and subtle elevations of CA 19-9 in diabetics should be considered as the indication of exocrine pancreatic dysfunction. | Oya Uygur-Bayramicli Resat Dabak Ekrem Orbay Can Dolapclo■lu Mehmet Sargin Gamze Kilico■lu Yüksel Güleryüzlü Alpaslan Mayada■li | 2007 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2007，13，40： | 63 |

| 3 | High adiponectin levels fail to protect against the risk of hypertension and,in women,against coronary disease:involvement in autoimmunity?显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether serum adiponectin protects against cardiometabolic risk in a population sample with prevailing metabolic syndrome.METHODS:Middle-aged adults representative of a general population with baseline circulating adiponectin measurements(n=1224)were analyzed prospectively at a mean of 3.8 years’follow-up,using continuous values or sex-specific tertiles.Total adiponectin was assayed by an ELISA kit.Type-2 diabetes was identified by criteria of the American Diabetes Association.Hypertension was defined as a blood pressure≥140 mmHg and/or≥90 mmHg and/or use of antihypertensive medication.Outcomes were predicted using Cox proportional hazards regression analysis in models that were controlled for potential confounders.RESULTS:In models of multiple linear regression,sex hormone-binding globulin,fasting insulin(inverse)and,in men,age were significant independent covariates of serum adiponectin which further tended in women to be positively associated with serum creatinine.Cox regression analyses for incident coronary heart disease(CHD),adjusted for sex,age,non-HDL cholesterol,waist circumference and C-reactive protein,revealed significant inverse association with adiponectin tertiles in men but not women(HR=0.66;95%CI:0.32-1.38 for highest tertile).Cox regression for type-2 diabetes in a similar model(wherein glucose replaced non-HDL cholesterol),adiponectin tertiles appeared to protect in each gender.HR for incident hypertension roughly displayed unity in each of the adiponectin tertiles(P-trend=0.67).CONCLUSION:High adiponectin levels failed to protect against the development of hypertension and,in women,against CHD,presumably paralleling impairment in renal function as well.Involvement of adiponectin in autoimmune complex with loss of antioxidative-antiatherogenic properties may be underlying. | Altan Onat Mesut Aydln Günay Can Bayram Kroglu Ahmet Karagz Servet Altay | 2013 | World Journal of Diabetes2013，4，5： | 3 |

| 5 | Phase I study on the safety and preliminary efficacy of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy显示文摘BACKGROUND Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE)is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the adult as well as in the neonate,with limited options for treatment and significant dysfunctionality.AIM To investigate the safety and preliminary efficacy of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)in HIE patients.METHODS Patients who had HIE for at least 6 mo along with significant dysfunction and disability were included.All patients were given Wharton’s jelly-derived MSCs at 1×106/kg intrathecally,intravenously,and intramuscularly twice a month for two months.The therapeutic effects and prognostic implications of MSCs were evaluated by multiple follow-ups.Functional independence measure(FIM),modified Ashworth,and Karnofsky scales were used to assess any side effects,neurological and cognitive functions,and overall outcomes.RESULTS The 8 subjects included in the study had a mean age of 33.25±10.18 years.Mean HIE exposure and mean post-HIE durations were 45.63±10.18 and 19.67±29.04 mo,respectively.Mean FIM score was 18.38±1.06,mean modified Ashworth score was 43.5±4.63,and mean Karnofsky score was 20.For the first 24 h,5 of the patients experienced a subfebrile state,accompanied by mild headaches due to intrathecally administration and muscle pain because of intramuscularly administration.Neurological and functional examinations,laboratory tests,electroencephalography,and magnetic resonance imaging were performed to assess safety of treatment.Mean FIM score increased by 20.88±3.31 in the first month(P=0.027)and by 31.38±14.69 in 12 mo(P=0.012).The rate of patients with an FIM score of 126 increased from 14.58%to 16.57%in the first month and 24.90%in 12 mo.CONCLUSION Multiple triple-route Wharton’s jelly-derived MSC administrations were found to be safe for HIE patients,indicating neurological and functional improvement.Based on the findings obtained here,further randomized and placebo research could be performed. | Serdar Kabataş ErdinçCivelek Necati Kaplan Eyüp Can Savrunlu Gülseli Berivan Sezen Mourat Chasan Halil Can Ali Genç Yener Akyuva Osman Boyalı Furkan Diren Erdal Karaoz | 2021 | World Journal of Experimental Medicine2021，11，2： | 2 |
| 6 | Micellar sensitized catalytic kinetic spectrophotometry for highly accurate and reproducible determination of Ⅴ(Ⅳ) and Ⅴ(Ⅴ)显示文摘A highly accurate and reproducible micellar sensitized kinetic method was proposed for determination of V(VI). The method is based on its catalytic effect on the oxidation of Coomassie brilliant blue R 250(CBB?) by bromate at pH 2.0. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring absorbance change with a fixed-time method of 5 min at 594 and 552 nm with and without surfactant. The variables influencing the calibration sensitivity were extensively investigated, and the optimal conditions were established. The linear calibration range was 10–1,600 lg L-1with a relative SD ranging from 0.35 % to 3.35 %(for five replicate measurements of75, 500, 1,000, and 1,500 lg L-1) and a detection limit of3.8 lg L-1. The selectivity was also investigated, and greatly enhanced by suitable masking agents. The method was successfully applied to the analysis of V(IV) in presence of excess V(V) up to 25 fold in environmental waters with the recoveries of 100.0 %–102.8 % for V(IV) and95.7 %–99.7 % for total V.
