| 2 | Role of the Nocturnal Low-level Jet in the Formation of the Morning Precipitation Peak over the Dabie Mountains显示文摘The diurnal variation of precipitation over the Dabie Mountains(DBM) in eastern China during the 2013 mei-yu season is investigated with forecasts of a regional convection-permitting model. Simulated precipitation is verified against surface rain-gauge observations. The observed morning precipitation peak on the windward(relative to the prevailing synoptic-scale wind) side of the DBM is reproduced with good spatial and temporal accuracy. The interaction between the DBM and a nocturnal boundary layer low-level jet(BLJ) due to the inertial oscillation mechanism is shown to be responsible for this precipitation peak. The BLJ is aligned with the lower-level southwesterly synoptic-scale flow that carries abundant moisture.The BLJ core is established at around 0200 LST upwind of the mountains. It moves towards the DBM and reaches maximum intensity at about 70 km ahead of the mountains. Functional genomic analyses in Tetrahymena present rich opportunities to address fundamental questions of cell and molecular biology. The Tetrahymena Gene Expression Database (TGED; available at http://gffzz5d146715fb2e495ehop6xvqbqn9w56kqb.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn) is the first expression database of a ciliated protozoan. It covers three major physiological and developmental states: growth, starvation, and conjugation, and can be accessed through a user-friendly web interface. The gene expression profiles and candidate co-expressed genes for each gene can be retrieved using Gene ID or Gene description searches. Descriptions of standardized methods of sample preparation and the opportunity to add new Tetrahymena microarray data will be of great interest to the Tetrahymena research community. | 5 | Numerical Study on the Effect of Current Profiles on Vortex-Induced Vibrations in a Top-Tension Riser显示文摘In this paper, numerical simulations of vortex-induced vibrations in a vertical top-tension riser with a length-to-diameter ratio of 500 using our in-house code viv-FOAM-SJTU are presented. The time-dependent hydrodynamic forces on two-dimensional strips are obtained by solving the Navier-Stokes equations, which are, in turn, integrated into a finite-element structural model to obtain the riser deflections. The riser is discretized into 80 elements with its two ends set as pinned and 20 strips are located equidistant along the risers. Flow and structure are coupled by hydrodynamic forces and structural displacements. In order to study the effects of the shear rate, of the current profiles on the vortex-induced vibrations in the riser, vibrations, with varying shear rates, in both the in-line and cross-flow directions, are simulated. In addition to the time domain analysis, spectral analysis was conducted in both the temporal and spatial domains. Multi-mode vibration characteristics were observed in the riser. The relationship between dominant vibration mode number and the shear rate of current profiles is discussed. In general, the overall vibrations in the riser pipe include contributions from several modes and each mode persists over a range of shear rates. | 14 | Integration of microfluidic injection analysis with carbon nanomaterials/gold nanowire arrays-based biosensors for glucose detection显示文摘Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and reduced graphene oxide(r GO) nanosheets were utilized to construct glucose biosensors in combination with gold nanowire arrays(Au NWAs), and microfluidic injection analysis driven by gravity force was used to investigate the performances of as-prepared glucose biosensors. The results demonstrated glucose biosensors based on carbon nanomaterials/Au NWAs presented excellent performance at low working potential of-0.2 V versus Ag/Ag Cl(3 mol/L KCl), such as high sensitivity, good anti-interference ability and high throughput(45 h^(-1)). The glucose biosensor based on glucose oxidase(GOx)–CNT–Au NWAs showed a wide linear range from 100 to 3,000 lmol/L with a sensitivity of 4.12 l A/cm^2 mmol/L. | 20 | Text Difficulty Study:Do Machines Behave the Same as Humans Regarding Text Difficulty?显示文摘With the emergence of pre-trained models,current neural networks are able to give task performance that is comparable to humans.However,we know little about the fundamental working mechanism of pre-trained models in which we do not know how they approach such performance and how the task is solved by the model.For example,given a task,human learns from easy to hard,whereas the model learns randomly.Undeniably,difficulty-insensitive learning leads to great success in natural language processing(NLP),but little attention has been paid to the effect of text difficulty in NLP.We propose a human learning matching index(HLM Index)to investigate the effect of text difficulty.Experiment results show:1)LSTM gives more human-like learning behavior than BERT.Additionally,UID-SuperLinear gives the best evaluation of text difficulty among four text difficulty criteria.Among nine tasks,some tasks’performance is related to text difficulty,whereas others are not.2)Model trained on easy data performs best in both easy and medium test data,whereas trained on hard data only performs well on hard test data.3)Train the model from easy to hard,leading to quicker convergence. | Bowen Chen Xiao Ding Yi Zhao Bo Fu Tingmao Lin Bing Qin Ting Liu | 2024 | Machine Intelligence Research2024,21,2: | 0 |
