| 1 | Systematic study of Ce^(3+) on the structural and magnetic properties of Cu nanosized ferrites for potential applications显示文摘Ce^(3+) substituted Cu-spinel nanoferrites CuCe_xFe_(2-x)O_4(x=0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10) were synthesized via sol-gel self-combustion hybrid route. Single phase spinel ferrite of Cu nanoferrites were examined using X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis whereas the multiphase structure was observed as Ce contents increased from x=0.06. Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis(TGA and DTA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) were used to find out the morphology phase and metal stretching vibrations of Ce^(3+) substituted nanocrystalline ferrites. The crystallite size was increased and found in the range of 25-91 nm. The agglomerations in Cu ferrite samples increase as the Ce^(3+) concentration increases. The magnetic properties such as remanence, saturation magnetization, coercivity, Bohr magneton and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant(K) were determined using M-H loops recorded from a vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM). Saturation magnetization, remanence and coercivity are increased as the Ce^(3+)contents increase in Cu nanocrystalline samples. Moreover, law of approach to saturation(LoA) was used to calculate the maximum value of saturation for Ce-doped Cu nanoferrites. The soft magnetic behaviour of the Cu nanoferrite is observed as compared to the samples substituted with the increased Ce contents in Cu nanocrystalline ferrite. Bohr magneton and magnetocrystalline anisotropy are found to increase with the substitution of rare earth Ce^(3+) contents in Cu spinel nanocrystalline ferrite. | 5 | Water-induced softening behavior of clay-rich sandstone in Lanzhou Water Supply Project,China显示文摘The strength of clay-rich sandstone decreases significantly when in contact with water due to softening effects.This scenario can pose a severe threat to the stability of water diversion tunnels during construction and operation periods.To address the issues related to water-induced softening in clay-rich sandstone zones in a water diversion tunnel of Lanzhou Water Supply Project,the microscopic and micromechanical variations of rocks due to increasing water content in two different zones i.e.zones A and B,were determined by various testing methods,such as X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thin section microscopy,micro-indentation test,sonic velocity test,and slake durability test.The microscopic analysis confirms the presence of montmorillonite mineral which is the dominant problematic geomaterial in engineering application.The integrity and durability of clay-rich sandstone were determined with sonic velocity and slake durability tests to calibrate the results obtained by the micro-indentation test.It shows that the elastic modulus and hardness of clay-rich sandstone decrease with the increase of saturation time,up to 144 h,which is more significant and rapid during early stage of saturation.After 144 h of saturation,the elastic modulus decreases by 89% and 97%,and the hardness decreases by 89% and 99% for zones A and B sandstones,respectively.The results of slake durability and sonic velocity indicate that zone A sandsto ne remains 56.19% durability after 144 h of saturation,while zone B sandstone loses its durability merely after 72 h of saturation.The clay-rich sandstone starts to dissolve in water when the saturation time exceeds 144 h.The significant decreases in strength and durability of clay-rich sandstone due to water-induced softening are serious threats to tunnel stability.The improvements in the strength of surrounding rock mass by grouting and permeability by installation of drainage galleries can reduce the damage caused by water-induced softening. | Muhammad Usman Azhar Hui Zhou Fanjie Yang Adnan Younis Xinjing Lu Houguo Fang Yijun Geng | 2020 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,3: | 3 |
| 6 | Smart Objects Identification System for Robotic Surveillance显示文摘Video surveillance is an active research topic in computer vision.In this paper,humans and cars identifcation technique suitable for real time video surveillance systems is presented.The technique we proposed includes background subtraction,foreground segmentation,shadow removal,feature extraction and classifcation.The feature extraction of the extracted foreground objects is done via a new set of afne moment invariants based on statistics method and these were used to identify human or car.When the partial occlusion occurs,although features of full body cannot be extracted,our proposed technique extracts the features of head shoulder.Our proposed technique can identify human by extracting the human head-shoulder up to 60%–70%occlusion.Thus,it has a better classifcation to solve the issue of the loss of property arising from human occluded easily in practical applications.The whole system works at approximately 16 29 fps and thus it is suitable for real-time applications.The accuracy for our proposed technique in identifying human is very good,which is 98.33%,while for cars identifcation,the accuracy is also good,which is 94.41%.The overall accuracy for our proposed technique in identifying human and car is at 98.04%.The experiment results show that this method is efective and has strong robustness. | Amir Akramin Shafie Azhar Bin Mohd Ibrahim Muhammad Mahbubur Rashid | 2014 | International Journal of Automation and computing2014,11,1: | 3 |

Based on the understanding of working principles of beetle wing folding/unfolding mechanisms, the hind wing unfolding motion is mimicked by a combination of creative ideas and state-of-art artificial muscle actuator. In this work, we devise two types of artificial wings and the successfully demonstrate that they can be unfolded by actuation of shape memory alloy wires to provide actuation force at the wing base and along the leading edge vein. | 9 | 三腔连续负压引流管在感染性坏死性胰腺炎外科治疗中的临床疗效显示文摘目的急性胰腺炎(acute pancreatitis,AP)是一种发病率和病死率均较高的炎症性疾病,部分AP患者会演变为重症急性胰腺炎(severe acute pancreatitis,SAP)。SAP病程后期常伴有感染性胰腺坏死,这类患者病死率极高。感染性坏死性胰腺炎(infected necrotizing pancreatitis,INP)是接受外科治疗的重要指征之一,外科医师对INP干预时机、策略及方式的掌控尤为重要,本研究的目的是探讨三腔连续负压引流这一新技术对于INP患者外科治疗能否带来更好的疗效。方法回顾性分析2009年1月至2019年12月在我院通过增强CT或细针穿刺活检被诊断为INP的60例患者,这些患者均经过14 d标准化的保守治疗但病情未能明显改善。其中30例患者通过植入三腔连续负压引流管接受了外科减压治疗,而另外30例患者延续保守治疗。通过软件分析60例患者的临床资料及其他能够预示临床疗效的指标。结果三腔连续负压引流管的外科减压手术组,患者的病死率显著降低,30例患者中8例死亡(26.7%);保守治疗组出现11例死亡(36.7%),两组患者病死率具有统计学差异(P<0.05)。此外,外科减压组患者的其他病理生理指标,包括腹内压、呼吸功能、肾功能等,较保守治疗组也有显著改善。结论急性INP患者在接受保守治疗14 d后,可以使用三腔连续负压引流管的减压手术,该手术在减少病死率和改善病理生理指标方面具有显著疗效。 | Muhammad Salman Azhar 孙吉春 聂晚频 李志强 朱红伟 刘云飞 余枭 李霞 | 2020 | 邵阳学院学报(自然科学版)2020,17,5: | 2 |

| 11 | Genetic effects conferring heat tolerance in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)显示文摘Background:Climate change and particularly global warming has emerged as an alarming threat to the crop productivity of field crops and exerted drastic effects on the cropping patterns.Production of cotton has been dropped down to one million bales from 1.4 million bales since 2015 in Pakistan due to the increase in temperature at critical growth stages,i.e.,flowering and boll formation.Keeping in view the importance of cotton in the country,this study was conducted to investigate the genetic effects conferring heat tolerance in six populations(P1,P2,F1,F2,BC1 and BC2)developed from cross-1 and cross-2,i.e.,VH-282×FH-142 and DNH-40×VH-259.Results:The results revealed that cross-1 performed better in heat stress as compared with cross-2 for majority of the traits recorded.Boll weight and ginning outturn(GO-T)were highly effected under heat stress and had negative correlation with Relative cell injury(RCI).Boll weight,fiber length,fiber strength and fiber fineness were under the control of non-additive gene action,whereas RCI was controlled by additive gene effects.Lower values of genetic advance coupled with higher values of broad sense heritability for these traits except RCI confirmed the role of non-additive genetic effects.Duplicate types of epistasis were recorded for fiber strength in cross-1 in normal condition.However,complementary type of non-allelic interaction was recorded for fiber strength under normal condition,fiber fineness and RCI under heat stressed condition in cross-1.Likewise,boll weight,GOT and fiber length in populations derived from cross-2 in normal condition were also under the influence of complementary type of non-allelic interaction.Significant differences among values of mid parent and better parent heterosis for boll weight in both normal and heat stress condition provided the opportunity to cotton breeders for utilization of this germplasm for improvement of this trait through exploitation of heterosis breeding.Conclusion:Cross-1 performed better in heat stress and could be utilized for development of heat tolerant cultivar.RCI was under the influence of additive gene action,so one can rely on this trait for screening of large number of accessions of cotton for heat stress.While other traits were predominantly controlled by non-additive gene action and selection based on these should be delayed in later generations. | SALMAN Muhammad ZIA Zia Ullah RANA Iqrar Ahmad MAQSOOD Rana Haroon AHMAD Saghir BAKHSH Ali AZHAR Muhammad Tehseen | 2019 | Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,1: | 2 |

| 13 | Heritability and correlation analysis of morphological and yield traits in genetically modified cotton显示文摘Background:Cotton is known for fiber extraction and it is grown in tropical and sub-tropical areas of the world due to having hot weather.Cotton crop has a significant role in GDP of Pakistan.Therefore,the two-years research was conducted to estimate heritability and association among various yield contributing parameters of cotton,i.e.,plant height,number of bolls per plant,number of sympodial branches per plant,seed cotton yield,boll weight,seed index,ginning outturn(GOT),fiber length,fiber strength,and fiber fineness.Results:Association analysis revealed that seed cotton yield had a significant positive correlation with plant height,number of bolls per plant,number of sympodial branches per plant,GOT,staple length and fiber strength.Staple length and fiber strength were negatively linked with each other.Estimates of heritability were high for all of the traits except the number of sympodial branches per plant and boll weight.Conclusion:The parent IUB-222 was found to be the best for plant height,the number of bolls per plant,boll weight,GOT,seed cotton yield,and seed index.The genotypes namely,NIAB-414 and VH-367 were identified as the best parents for fiber length,strength,and fineness.Among the crosses NIAB-414×IUB-222 was the best for the number of bolls per plant,seed index,seed cotton yield and fiber fineness,whereas,the cross of NIAB-414×CIM-632 was good for plant height.The combination of A555×CIM-632 was the best for the number of sympodial branches per plant,boll weight,fiber length,and strength,and VH-367×CIM-632 proved the best for GOT. | REHMAN Abdul MUSTAFA Nida DU Xiongming AZHAR Muhammad Tehseen | 2020 | Journal of Cotton Research2020,3,3: | 2 |

| 17 | Structural,electrical,dielectric and magnetic properties of Mn-Nd substituted CoFeO_3 nano sized multiferroics显示文摘A series of Mn x Co_(1-x) Fe_(1-y) Nd_yO_3(where x=0.0–1.0 & y=0.0–0.1) multiferroic nanocrystals was synthesized via sol-gel auto-combustion technique. The structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD)while morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The electrical resistivity was observed to increase from 2.14 * 10~7 to 8.77 * 10~9 Ω-cm and activation energy was found to increase from 0.64 to 0.75 e V, while the drift mobility decreased from 4.75 * 10^(-13) to 1.27 * 10^(-15)cm^2V^(-1)S^(-1) by the substitution of Mn and Nd contents. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and dielectric loss factor decrease with frequency and Mn-Nd contents. | 20 | Assessment of Metals Concentration and Ecotoxicology of the Sediment Core of Rehri Creek, Karachi Coast, Pakistan显示文摘Trace metal concentrations were investigated in a recent sediment core collected from the Rehri Creek area of the Karachi coast,Sindh-Pakistan.The core was sliced horizontally at 2.5-cm intervals to determine grain size,sediment composition,pH,organic matter,and acid-leachable trace metals:cadmium,chromium,copper,lead,and zinc.The trace metals were analyzed by ICP.To separate anthropogenic from geogenic input,several approaches were made,including comparison with sediment quality guidelines—ecotoxicological sense of heavy metal contamination and classification by quantitative indexes.Grain-size analysis and sediment composition of core sample show a sandy nature with neutral pH.Elemental sequence(ES)of the trace metals is in the order of Zn(19.2-109.56 ppm)>Si(66.46-101.71 ppm)>Ba(12.05-26.86 ppm)>As(8.18-17.36 ppm)>Ni(4.2-14.69 ppm)>Cr(3.02-9.62 ppm)>Pb(2.79-6.83 ppm)>Cu(2.2-5.29 ppm)>Co(0.9-2.05 ppm).Thus it is likely that the area may face a serious threat of metal pollution with the present deposition rates unless stringent pollution control norms are adopted.The Sediment Geo-accumulation Index shows that there is no Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb,Zn,or Fe pollution;however,the former index and the Pollution Load Index indicate arsenic pollution in the sediments. | Muhammad Z.
