| 3 | Recent progress in Chinese polar upper-atmospheric physics research: review of research advances supported by the Chinese Arctic and Antarctic expeditions显示文摘It has been more than 30 years since the first Chinese Antarctic Expedition took place. Polar upper atmospheric observations started at this time. First began at Great Wall Station and then at Zhongshan Station in Antarctica, and later in the Arctic at Yellow River Station, Kjell Henriksen Observatory on Svalbard, and at the China-Iceland Joint Aurora Observatory in Iceland. In this paper, we reviewed the advances in polar upper atmosphere physics(UAP) based on the Chinese national Arctic and Antarctic research over the last five years. These included newly deployed observatories and research instruments in the Arctic and Antarctic; and new research findings, from ground-based observations, about polar ionosphere dynamics, aurora and particle precipitation, polar plasma convection, geomagnetic pulsations and space plasma waves, space weather in the polar regions, simulations of the polar ionosphere-magnetosphere. | 12 | A novel hydrogel with glucose-responsive hyperglycemia regulation and antioxidant activity for enhanced diabetic wound repair显示文摘Enhanced diabetic wound repair remained a global challenge.Herein,we reported a novel hydrogel with glucose-responsive hyperglycemia regulation and antioxidant activity for enhanced diabetic wound repair.In this study,gallic acid(GA)with strong antioxidant activity was grafted onto chitosan(CS)chains by one-step synthesis,and then incorporated into poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate(PEG-DA)hydrogel matrix to obtain a novel antioxidant hybrid hydrogel(PEG-DA/CS-GA).Meanwhile,polyethyleneimine(PEI)was modified with a unique glucose-sensitive phenylboronic acid(PBA)molecule to load insulin(PEIPBA/insulin nano-particles,PEI-PBA/insulin NPs),which could be immobilized in the PEG-DA/CS-GA hybrid hydrogel by the formation of dynamic borate bond between the phenylboronic acid groups on the PEI-PBA and the polyphenol groups on the CSGA.The results indicated that the PEG-DA/PEI-PBA/insulin/CS-GA(PPIC)hydrogel platform not only had remarkable biocompatibility,but also displayed extraordinary antioxidant properties(DPPH scavenging rate>95.0%),and effectively protected cells from oxidative damage(decreased MDA levels,increased Superoxide dismutase(SOD)levels and stable GSH/GSSG levels).Meanwhile,the PPIC hydrogel also exhibited unique glucose-responsive insulin release characteristics,and effectively regulated the blood glucose level.The in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that our PPIC hydrogel could promoted angiogenesis(increased VEGF and CD 31 expression),reshaped the inflammatory microenvironment(decreased IL-6 and increased IL-10 level),and achieved wound closure within 20 days.All these results strongly indicated that the PPIC hydrogel represented a tough and efficient platform for diabetic wound treatment. | Zejun Xu Guiting Liu Qing Li Jun Wu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,6: | 2 |

| 15 | Simultaneous optical and radar observations of poleward moving auroral forms under different IMF conditions显示文摘Using high temporal resolution optical data obtained from three-wavelength all-sky imagers at Chinese Yellow River Station in the Arctic, together with the EISCAT Svalbard radar (ESR) and SuperDARN radars, we investigated the dayside poleward moving auroral forms (PMAFs) and the associated plasma features in the polar ionosphere under different interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) conditions, between 0900 and 1010 UT on 22 December 2003. Simultaneous optical and ESR observations revealed that all PMAFs were clearly associated with pulsed particle precipitations. During northward IMF, particles can precipitate into lower altitudes and reach the ionospheric E-region, and there is a reverse convection cell associated with these PMAFs. This cell is one of the typical signatures of the dayside high-latitude (lobe) reconnection in the polar ionosphere. These results indicate that the PMAFs were associated with the high-latitude reconnection. | 17 | Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding.
